The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, which is responsible for regulating all gambling activities in the state, has reported on the total gaming revenue and the revenues across various forms of gambling in the state of Pennsylvania for the month of August.

In August, the total gaming revenue in the state of Pennsylvania coming from all forms of gambling including fantasy contests reached $425.4 million, which marked an increase of 4.24% in comparison to the same period last year when the total revenue was $408 million. However, if compared to the revenue of $429 million in July 2022, there was a slight decrease of under 1%.

These numbers cover various forms of gambling such as retail slot machines and table games, online gaming, sports betting, fantasy contests, and video gaming terminals.

The total tax revenue that was collected from all forms of gambling in August amounted to $175.3 million. In terms of total revenue for the month, Hollywood Casino at Penn National ended up at the top with $60.9 million, which was a 22.35% increase year-on-year.

Retail slots brought in the highest winnings this month of $201.3 million, however, when compared to August 2021, there was a decrease of 4.07% from the $209.8 million reported back then.

It must be noted that the number of slot machines number available to gamblers in Pennsylvania has decreased from 26,017 in August 2021, to 25,595 in August 2022. Slot machines brought in total tax revenue of $102.5 million in August.

In August the top performer for retail slot machines was Parx Casino, which collected revenue of $32.4 million. However, this amount was 10.69% lower than the $36.3 million the casino achieved during the same period last year.

The situation with retail table games was similar with a 9.11% decrease in revenue year on year from $86.3 million in August 2021, to $78.5 million in August 2022. The tax revenue from table games was $12.6 million this month.

For retail table games, Wind Creek Bethlehem ended up at the top of the chart with $17.8 million. Still, that was a decrease of 6.25% compared to the month of August last year.

Sports betting revenue enjoyed the highest year-on-year increase of 88.5% from $18 million in August 2021, to the impressive $34 million in August 2022. The total sports betting handle for the Pennsylvania state was $363 million.

The sportsbook that reported the highest revenue in August was Valley Forge Casino Resort with $13.6 million, which marked a whopping 308.96% increase year-on-year.

Revenue from iGaming tables also achieved astounding results by almost doubling year-on-year. Operators collected $28.7 million in August, which was an increase of 49.57% compared to the $19.2 million total in August last year.
