Ascension Parish woman arrested after deputy finds drugs inside car during traffic stop – BRProud.com

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) Wendy Wilson, 50, of St. Amant was taken into custody after a traffic stop on Monday, April 17.

The stop took place around 2 p.m. on Evangeline Street by a member of the East Baton Rouge Sheriffs Office. Before the stop, the deputy could not fully see the Louisiana temp tag which was inside the vehicle.

While approaching the vehicle, the deputy was able to see that the temp tag and inspection sticker were both expired. Wilson was driving the vehicle at the time of the stop and was subsequently questioned by the deputy. The St. Amant woman claimed that she was on her way to a mechanic shop. At some point, the deputy smelled what they thought could be marijuana, according to EBRSO. Wilson denied that she was in possession of marijuana.

A search of the vehicle was executed by the deputy and these are some of the items that were seized:

According to the affidavit, the quantity of the suspected cocaine was indicative of narcotics trafficking. Tests later confirmed that the seized substances were cocaine and heroin.

The St. Amant woman was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Monday, April 17.

Wilson remains behind bars on a $15,000 bond.
