Experience the multiverse as never before in Netflix’s animated adult comedy series The Midnight Gospel – Critical Hit

Posted: March 22, 2020 at 1:48 am

The Midnight Gospel is Netflixs upcoming animated adult comedy series thats all kinds of weird, wonderful, whimsical, and wrong. Its created by Adventure Times Pendleton Ward and comedian Duncan Trussell, who hosts the Duncan Trussell Family Hour podcast (currently sitting at just over 370 episodes and which you can catch here). Clips from the podcast will appear in the series which is brought to life by the animation studio Titmouse, the people behind Netflixs Big Mouth, the later seasons of The Venture Bros., Son of Zorn, and more.

The official plot synopsis is as follows:

The Midnight Gospel is the story of Clancy, a spacecaster with a malfunctioning multiverse simulator who leaves the comfort of his extra-dimensional home on the Chromatic Ribbon to interview beings living in other worlds.

Um what? I recognise all those words, but Ive never seen them used in that order before. Lets take a look, but before we do I should issue a NSFW warning for some salty language, so youve been warned:

Holy sexual innuendo, Batman! I mean, its not just me right? You all saw that too?

Anyway, this looks like someone mixed sugar and LSD, mainlinedit, and then went on the trippiest sugar rush of them all. The Adventure Timeinfluences are very clear in the character and animation style, but TheMidnight Gospel takes it so much deeper into surreal territory. Its bright andcolourful, gory, and definitely not for the kids.

I also wonder if the psychedelic trip our intrepidmoney-loving spacecaster is on isnt inspired in some way by American authorand journalist Hunter S. Thompsons 1971 novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which was adapted into a feature starring Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro in1998.

What do you think?

The Midnight Gospels eight-episode-long first season will premiere on Netflix on 20 April.

Robert Downey Jr. Reportedly Dropped His Asking Price to Return to the MCU after ‘Dolittle’ Flops – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Posted: at 1:48 am

Marvel fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Robert Downey Jr. is reportedly willing to compromise to return as Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor, who launched the start of the MCU with 2008s Iron Man, witnessed the conclusion of his characters journey in Avengers: Endgame. Amid intense speculation about bringing Tony back, Downey is reportedly dropping his asking price to make it happen.

Tony giving up his life to defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Endgamewas a fitting conclusion to his story arc. There is no debating that Tony diedin the film, yet fans are already hoping that Marvel finds a way to resurrectthe character.

With the studio exploring elements of the multiverse in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there are plenty of ways they could bring Tony back from the dead. Downey is already set to reprise the role in Black Widow, though that film is set before the events in the Infinity Saga.

Downey has hinted that he is open to returning to the role atsome point, but a major sticking point in the negotiations has been his salary.Downey was one of the highest-paid actors in Marvels lineup, so bringing himback will no doubt cost the studio millions of dollars.

Inside sources say that Marvel is not willing to match whatDowney requested, which has effectively put an end to their contractdiscussions.

Over time, it is possible that Marvel would have caved toDowneys requests. But that has changed in light of the actors recent boxoffice flop, Dolittle.

According to WeGot This Covered, a source claims that Downey is now open toaccepting a smaller salary after his first post-Marvel project was a majorfailure. The insider did not say how much Downey is willing to cut, but itmight convince the studio to bring him back a lot sooner than expected.

At this point, it sounds like Robert Downey Jr. could use theMarvel more than ever. That could change in the near future, but this isdefinitely a promising sign for fans.

Marvel, of course, has not said anything about bringing Downey back to the MCU. The studio is currently gearing up for the premiere of its first movie in Phase 4, Black Widow, which could face delays over the COVID-19 pandemic.

While we wait for official news, Downey opened up about returningto the MCU while on his promotional tour for Dolittle. According to CNET,Today host Hoda Kotb asked the actor if he is keeping the doorcracked open for a return to the MCU.

The actor was very grateful for the opportunity to be a part ofthe MCU and did not say for sure that he will be back. He did, however, teasethat a return is not completely of the table.

I am so pleased, just that, I wound up where I have, RobertDowney Jr. stated. Im very fortunate so, Im not the kind of guy who I want to try to keep it classy. Well see.

The interview came a few months after Jeff Goldblum told fans that Downey was returning to voice Iron Man in Marvels upcoming animated series, What If? Reports later dismissed the idea, saying Downey has not made any commitments.

Robert Downey Jr.s massive salary request was not the only thing on his wishlist. The actor also reportedly told Marvel that he would only return if they teamed him up with Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man in the MCU.

Outside of their work with Marvel, Holland and Downey struck up afriendship similar to what their characters enjoy on the big screens. In fact,Holland recently revealed that Downey has been a mentor for him in the movieindustry and that they often FaceTime each other.

Downey has not commented on the reports surrounding his contractnegotiations with Marvel. Holland, meanwhile, is currently gearing up for thestart of production on his next MCU movie, Spider-Man 3.

Fans can watch Robert Downey Jr. reprise his role as Tony Stark in Marvels upcoming Black Widow.

Batman Begins Star Rumored To Play Nightmare In Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness – We Got This Covered

Posted: at 1:48 am

With major blockbusters either having their release dates shifted or having production shut down on a daily basis in the wake of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, theres a huge air of uncertainty surrounding virtually all of Hollywood at the moment, as the major studios rush to protect their investments.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is also in damage limitation mode, with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings currently shut down, and constant rumors surrounding the status of Black Widow. But theres been no word as of yet on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is set to start shooting in May.

The Sorcerer Supremes sequel has already undergone some behind-the-scenes upheaval, with original director Scott Derrickson departing due to creative differences with Kevin Feige, although the studio have found a more than capable replacement in Sam Raimi. Rachel McAdams has also opted out of the follow-up, leaving Benedicts Cumberbatch and Wong, along with Chiwetel Ejiofor, as the only confirmed members of the cast with production set to kick off in a matter of weeks.

Nightmare has long been rumored to act as the major antagonist of Multiverse of Madness, with several names having already been linked to the part, and now a new rumor claims that Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy is said to be in talks for the role. This comes from the notoriously unreliable 4Chan, so take it with a pinch of salt, but they have sometimes proven to be right in the past.

Whether this information turns out to be correct or not, theres no denying that the 43 year-old Irish actor would be an excellent addition to the MCU. Murphy has proven to be a hugely talented and versatile performer capable of working in virtually any genre over the years, and is also experienced in big budget blockbusters after appearing in Christopher Nolans Dark Knight Trilogy and Inception. Marvel villains usually tend to be played by recognizable actors that arent quite huge stars, and Murphy definitely fits that mold and could be an inspired choice to face off against the title character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The Flash: What Happened To Jesse Quick & Will She Return – Screen Rant

Posted: at 1:48 am

Jesse Quick was a surprise hit with fans of The Flash, but her current status in the Arrowverse doesnt look good. As Harry Wellss daughter, Jesse Wells spent a good amount of season 2 mostly being a character who played off of Wally West, with the two of them becoming a couple for a little while. This all changed when she was exposed to the Speed Force, officially becoming the Arrowverses version of Jesse Quick. The character appears to have been erased from the Arrowverse post-Crisis is it possible for Jesse Quick to return onThe Flash?

While she was never a pivotal figure in the show, Jesse appeared in a fair number of episodes in seasons 3 and 4 as Jesse Quick, usually to assist with Barry getting out of a particular jam or trying to take a more proactive role in fighting the main villains. She filled the role of the main speedster on Earth-2 off-screen and strong ally to the team on-screen, making her a particular fan-favorite.

Related: The Flashs Biggest Crisis On Infinite Earths Change Is Also Its Saddest

Inthe season 8 premiere of Arrow, the Anti-Monitor destroyed Earth-2, presumably killing Jesse Quick and Harry Wells. Even if they had been off-world at the time, the Anti-matter wave consumed the entirety of the multiverse except for the Vanishing Point during Crisis on Infinite Earths, meaning that Jesse was certainly dead by then. After Oliver and the Paragons manage to recreate the multiverse, Cisco confirms in the mid-season premiere of The Flash that Harry and Jesse died and didnt come back on Earth-Prime.

Cisco based his knowledge of Harry and Jesses death on the collapsing of the multiverse, but its hard to trust Cisco when viewers know theres still a multiverse. Even if shes not on Earth-Prime (and Cisco hadnt thoroughly explored Earth-Prime at that time), a version of her might still be out there somewhere in the new multiverse.

While its happening in a much different way, The Flash has already confirmed that Harry Wells managed to survive, with every version of Wells currently living in Nashs mind. This means that they might still be able to deal with Jesses off-screen death. While she doesnt have a doppelgngers brain to live in, this is a sign that the writers arent completely committed to killing off these characters. Theres no confirmation from a more authoritative source that there wasnt a version of Jesse Wells created in the new multiverse, so the door is left open just a crack for her potential return.

Right now, the obvious assumption is that Jesse died in the destruction of Earth-2, but theres always the chance for her to return. With actress Violett Beane being a regular on God Friended Me, her lack of availability has written her out of the story for a while. By not showing Jesse Quicks death and bringing back Harry Wells, The Flashhas left just enough doubt about her death that they could bring her back if ever the right opportunity presented itself.

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ to film scenes in Norway as MCU gears up for first ‘scary’ movie – MEAWW

Posted: at 1:48 am

'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' is all set to shoot some of its scenes in Norway.

Norway has been looked at as one of the top shoot locations especially after Scarlett Johansson's 'Black Widow' and Daniel Craig's 'No Time to Die' have some of their sequences filmed in the pristine location. The MCU flick will also be shot in Longcross Studios in Surrey, confirmed a report by HN Entertainment.

On the production front, 'Doctor Strange 2' hit a major snag when it was revealed that Scott Derrickson was exiting the project due to "creative differences".

Previously, Marvel Studios had said, "Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson have amicably parted ways on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. We remain grateful to Scott for his contributions to the MCU."

Derrickson tweeted, "Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on 'Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness' due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP."

The official synopsis of the movie reads: "After the events of 'Avengers: Endgame', Dr Stephen Strange continues his research on the Time Stone. But an old friend-turned-enemy seeks to destroy every sorcerer on Earth, messing with Strange's plan and also causing him to unleash unspeakable evil."

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has already revealed that the sequel will be the first "scary" movie to be produced by Marvel Studios. This could also suggest the mind-bending travel concept that is yet to be introduced.

'Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness' sees Benedict Cumberbatch reprise his role as Dr Stephen Strange. Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor will appear as Wong and Karl Mordo respectively.

Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch / Wanda Maximoff in the MCU, is also expected to make an appearance in the movie.

'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' will release in theatres on May 7, 2021.

Dr.Strange Multiverse: This Is Why Rachel McAdams Will Not Be Seen In The Sequel Movies – Trending News Buzz

Posted: at 1:48 am

Introduction

Are you up for some more in depth magic? If yes, then hang on till May 7, 2021. Directed by Sam Raimi, who will be replacing Scott Derrickson, Dr.Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness is a part of the phase four of MCU and will be a sequel to its 2016 installment Dr.Strange and Avengers: Endgame and a crossover sequel to WandaVision and Loki.

The movie will star Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr.Strange, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Benedict Wong as Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mondo. Ok, so do you think were missing someone here? Yes, the doctors friend, confidante and partner Dr. Christine Palmer/ Night Nurse is missing.

There has been no official confirmation regarding dropping off Night Nurse but news is there, that she will not be probably seen in the second installment of the wizardry franchise.

We saw Palmer in the (2016) that she worked alongside Dr.Strange at a New York hospital. She played a role of keeping him more grounded to his roots, to live a normal life after he took up wizardry.

She reminded him of the fact that hes a doctor who gives life and that his magic and wizardry came second. Though in the comics its seen she takes up the role of her alter ego, the Night Nurse but she doesnt wear that mantle in the film.

Its sad to know that Dr.Strange will be a friend less in his upcoming movie but it doesnt come out as a big surprise.

He will lean on to more powerful magical abilities this time and the fact that she reminds him of his older life as a surgeon in New York actually do not go with his storyline. So, probably this was the reason she was scrubbed off from the Multiverse.

MCU phase four, which kicks off with Black Widowthis spring. This year, audiences will also see The Eternals, an impressive venture for Marvel whose story will span 7,000 years.

Doctor Strange

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will also debut later this year. WandaVision takes off this winter. But with the recent outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus, release dates have been postponed.

Supernatural Is Having Its Own Crisis on Infinite Earths | CBR – CBR – Comic Book Resources

WARNING: The following contains spoilers forSupernatural, Season 15, Episode 12, "Galaxy Brain."

After a month's hiatus,Supernatural's return brings with it catastrophic scenes far beyond Sam and Dean Winchester's world. God/Chuck's last confrontation with the Winchesters left him in a very strong position. Having fully recovered from the Equalizer wound that had given Sam a window into his inner thoughts and inhibited his powers, Chuck is now free to pursue his endgame for his two favorite protagonists.

RELATED:Supernatural Producer Reassures Fans Worried Series Finale Won't Be Filmed

In Episode 12, we discover that despite this positive turn of events for the vengeful deity, Chuck isstillfinding reasons to procrastinate. (He is a writer, after all.) This time, it's all of his rough drafts that are distracting him from the task at hand: crafting the perfect ending for Sam and Dean. And by "rough drafts," we mean entire alternate worlds. So, Chuck decides to screw up and throw all of his past attempts in the bin -- setting off an apocalyptic chain reaction that rips throughSupernatural's multiverse. For those who watched The CW's recent "Crisis on Infinite Earths" event that took place across the Arrowverse, this storyline will feel (and look) very familiar.

"Galaxy Brain" opens four weeks in the past on Earth 2 -- an Earth with two moons, reminiscent of the two suns that orbitStar Wars' Tatooine. If that cosmic clue wasn't enough, Chuck strolls into a RadioShed where a radio broadcast tells us that President Hillary Clinton is seeking re-election. We're definitely not in Kansas, Toto. With only a startled store attendant for an audience, Chuck announces that "it's monologue time!" and, in front of a wall of TV screens, lays out exactly why he's decided to go all fire and brimstone on his past creations."Ive got what I want from a hundred Sam and Deans Those other toys, they dont spark joy. But therealSam and Dean, they do -- they challenge me, disappoint me, surprise me. They're the ones. [...] Its time to clear the board. All the worlds, alternate realities, the subplots, failed spinoffs... it's time to start canceling shows."

RELATED:Supernatural: Sam and Dean Discover a New Monster Living in the Bunker

Though their motives are very different, we witnessed the Anti-Monitor blaze a path of god-like destruction in his quest to wipe out reality during the DCTV universe on the same network just a few weeks ago. We also get a similar, personal viewpoint from which to experience it, too. "Crisis On Infinite Earths" showed us multiversal characters likeBirds of Prey's Huntress watching on in helpless terror as her home was uprooted by a strange and all-powerful force. InSupernatural's "Bad Place," Kaia can also do little else but stand solemnly by as everything is turned to dust around her.

"Some take a snap," Chuck remarks on his individual world-ending methods as he watches it all unfold in the Radio Shed, "but others are more complex. They'll need more time and attention." Though Sam and Dean are able to save the Kaia from their world -- who has been trapped in the Bad Place since Season 13 -- an unexpected visit from Billie/Death sobers their victory. Kaia's life may have been saved, she informs them, but Chuck's wrath has ended billions of others. This, more than anything else we've seen onSupernaturalso far, crystallizes how urgent it is that Chuck is stopped.

Airing every Monday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, the final season of Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins and Alexander Calvert.

Castlevania ‘A Seat of Civilisation and Refinement’ May Be Creating Shankar’s ‘Bootleg Multiverse’ – The Escapist

Posted: at 1:48 am

The following review contains spoilers for Castlevania season 3, episode 5, A Seat of Civilisation and Refinement.

After last episodes oversaturation of content, with the show focusing on advancing all of its major narratives marginally, A Seat of Civilisation and Refinement takes the polar opposite approach. We only catch up with two of our long-running plots, though even thats a bit misleading given how 80% of the episode is dedicated to following Trevor (Richard Armitage) and Syphas (Alejandra Reynosa) escapades in Lindenfeld, while the other 20% briefly touches on Alucards (James Callis) antics with his newfound apprentices. Of the two approaches to crafting a Castlevania episode, A Seat of Civilisation and Refinement is by far the stronger.

However, Alucards training is still nothing to write home about. While I do like the idea of Alucard teaching a new generation of vampire hunters, theres not much actual character development occurring. He tells Sumi (Rila Fukushima) and Taka (Toru Uchikado) to keep their distance from vampires in fights while still working on their close-quarters combat. Its a good lesson to teach, since Alucard points out that Taka, despite being an archer, may eventually run out of arrows in a fight, but thats about it for interesting interactions. The training sequence yields some choppy animation as well.

Fortunately, Trevor and Syphas investigation into Salas (Navid Negahban) cult balances itself better with quiet moments to build character for nearly everyone. A Seat of Civilisation and Refinement starts with Trevor going alone in the woods to be alone with his thoughts on Sypha. Its clear that he loves her, and a man like Trevor has never really felt like that before, being a drifter who travels from town to town to defeat monsters. Yet Trevor, reluctant as he is to admit it, has been loving being partners with Sypha for the past month. The bickering, teamwork, and banter just further the idea that he really does love her.

The Judge (Jason Isaacs) reinforces this in his conversation with Trevor after following him into the woods. We really do get a sense for his character and how, despite being the leader of Lindenfeld, he feels both connected and separate from the town. For being a minor village far removed from any of the chaotic events of the last two seasons, it still stands out as significant. Its a quaint little town where every story feels important someone getting sick, going missing, or dying but thats exactly what the Judge likes about it. Everyone knows everyone and theres a real sense of community where even outsiders like Trevor and Sypha are huge pieces of news for the villagers.

The Judge may be a bit of a cynical prude, but his heart-to-heart with Trevor shows that he truly cares about the town and doesnt want to see it fall into ruin. To the Judge, even the sight of mysterious symbols at the gates of his town can be construed as a threat, furthering his desire to protect everyone within the towns walls from whatever Sala is cooking up in the priory.

But the real meat of theCastlevania plot today is finally explaining whats up with Saint Germain (Bill Nighy) and his reasons for being in Lindenfeld. Hes more bold at trying to explore the priory without Salas knowledge, and his excuses are flimsier than theyve ever been. We even see Germain act rudely toward Sypha, Trevor, and a random worker at a bar. Sure, Germain may not have been the most magnanimous character up until this point, but this was the first real time I thought he acted like a jerk. But now we know the truth behind his presence in Lindenfeld is to find something called the Infinite Corridor, a fact that Germain plays up to Sypha and Trevor only for them to be unimpressed at his dark and serious demeanor.

The way that Saint Germain phrases the Infinite Corridor lends credence to the idea that hes still a time traveler like in Curse of Darkness. While we dont know if Germain himself has traveled through to those parallel worlds or realities, he definitely lost someone in the Infinite Corridor and has been searching for them ever since. Germain is clearly frustrated that hes this close to accessing the portal, which he confirmed is indeed in Salas priory, but he just cant get to it because of Salas horde and the constant pestering of people in a backwater town stopping him. So of course, Germain is going to be curt with everyone he talks with when theyre just an inconvenience to him.

To remove ourselves from the lore and story of Castlevania, the Infinite Corridor is a fascinating prospect not just for the series, but for Adi Shankars overall plans. The man hasnt been subtle at all in his intention to create what he calls the Bootleg Multiverse, which is different from his Bootleg Universe imprint on YouTube, and that Castlevania fits firmly into that plan. His upcoming Devil May Cry, Assassins Creed, and Hyper Light Drifter series for Netflix all fall under this multiverse, so its possible that this could be a doorway to that crossover. Trevor does say that the Infinite Corridor, according to one of his female ancestors (Sonia Belmont?), is a portal to Hell, so whos to say that we wont run into monsters from the Devil May Cry series in later installments? Is there the threat of Mundus invading Wallachia in future seasons, supplanting Carmilla as the ultimate antagonist?

Its purely hypothetical I know, but its this kind of world-building that excites me. A Seat of Civilisation and Refinement gave us crystallization on what to expect from Castlevania looking forward and maybe even a glimpse at the rest of Shankars animated upcoming animated series. Our main characters are now far more defined, and there are clear stakes for whats happening in Lindenfeld. Color me very impressed.

What This Fan Wants From..Marvels Loki – LRM Online

Posted: at 1:48 am

Marvels Loki is a show that has definitely piqued my interest. When Marvel first announced the show starring Tom Hiddleston, I admit I wasnt that excited, to begin with. I knew the show would not be about the prime Loki, because hes dead. My concern then was that this would be us going back to a Loki of 2013, without the development that character had in the prime timeline. I just didnt think that was going to all that enjoyable. I hope I was wrong.

Since then we have learned only a little about what Loki will entail. However, what we have heard recently has me changing my mind about what I want to see from the Loki Disney+ show.

We know that Owen Wilson is in it, and we think he is playing someone from the Time Variance Authority. Loki in Marvels own words will heavily involve time travel. Fans think that Sophie Di Martino is playing a female version of Loki, and I think Richard E. Grant could be playing an older version of Loki. Yesterday we shared a wild rumor that Finn Wolfhard would be playing a kid version of Loki, but thats unsubstantiated so I will leave it there. We also shared a rumor this week that the Minutemen would be involved in Loki. The Minutemen we think should be the time police serving the TVA in the show. Finally, back to the very start, Kevin Feige himself shared some concept art of Loki standing in a 1975 version of Times Square.

These ingredients for me could make an exciting recipe for the Loki show. Last week I spoke about how I see a thread running narratively from Black Widow, through Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and towards a potential Thunderbolts movie. This week I want to talk about how I see a thread start from WandaVision, through Loki, and into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Maybe, the events of Loki will also have an influence on what happens in Thor: Love and Thunder, but I cannot quite see the connection there, yet.

So lets take a look at what I want to see from Loki. Remember, this isnt speculation as such, you could take those ingredients mentioned above and bake them a thousand different ways. This column is purely opinion-based, and as such, this is merely what I want to see as a fan from Marvels Loki. Or, what I would do. So I hope you enjoy a little fan-fiction mixed with some guesswork.

When this show begins Loki has escaped from his captors with one of the Infinity Stones. This is still very much a vengeful and ruthless version of Loki. This version of Loki has not endured the death of his mother or worked with his brother Thor to avenge her. Loki has not pretended to be Odin and ruled Asgard, he has not seen his fathers death caused as a result either. Loki has not yet met Hela or had to work with Thor to defeat her. Finally, Loki has not died at the hands of Thanos whilst attempting to assassinate him and save the Universe. Thats a heck of a lot of character development absent from this version of Loki.

I, therefore, think that Loki is going to start off quite villainous. Lokis development over the course of the show should echo that of the prime Loki with different catalysts. Who Loki is underneath is not an outright villain, but a misguided and dangerously complex character. I want Marvels Loki to lean into this aspect of the character. How do you get Loki from villain to anti-hero across six hours?

Id like to see the show begin with Loki intending to continue his selfish ways until he is captured by the TVA as an anomaly. The TVA will be aware that Loki is now well outside of where he is supposed to be. The events of Endgame were minimized by Cap taking all the Infinity Stones back to where they got them. However, in the version of reality where the Avengers messed up, everything has changed. Loki is free, the Tesseract with him. Also, the events of The Winter Soldier might not happen because of how events were changed in Endgame. The ripple effects of Hulk accidentally flooring Tony Stark in Endgame would be widely felt.

Loki is Loki, a master manipulator, and this is where I think the story will begin. I can see Owen Wilson as a character far too trusting, and allowing himself to be manipulated by Loki. Loki will offer to help the TVA, but Im sure with his own plans for an eventual escape. A quest through the Multiverse, dealing with various time issues would follow. This could give Loki the chance to see various versions of himself, versions that took similar or different choices in life. The best way for a character to focus on self-improvement is to show them their faults. Loki is going to see his own character magnified back upon him tenfold. Essentially, its A Christmas Carol through time and space.

Like Loki eventually warmed towards his brother Thor, I could see him begrudgingly begin to care about Owen Wilsons morally sound, but nave TVA character. Once Loki begins to encounter different versions of himself, he will fall more and more into an anti-hero type role. Sure, we dont want Loki to end up being Captain America, that would be out of character and uninteresting. However, an anti-hero is, by definition, a character who has lower moral standards youd expect from a hero, and yet still does heroic acts or battles far worse villains.

I could definitely see Lokis skills being employed to fix problems across time and the Multiverse. Wilsons character could be the one to reign Loki in, and keep him on the right side of that tightrope he walks. Im sure that by trying to fix time, all theyll do is create more problems potentially here and there. Think Quantum Leap crossed with Back to the Future, and you might be on the same wavelength of where my brain is going for Marvels Loki.

Loki could mess up and the results be far worse than whatever he was trying to fix. Loki will, of course, feel some sense of responsibility to prevent this timeline from happening. Perhaps he is shown a terrible future with his own actions acting as the catalyst? Loki begins by trying to fix his own mistakes only. But by the end, Loki and Wilson are a great team, cutting about time and space like Sam and Al from Quantum Leap, just without Ziggy.

We know WandaVision is coming out before Loki, and we know it will tie into the Doctor Strange sequel. I could definitely see the events of WandaVision having a noticeable effect on the TVA. Im guessing some of the ripples from Wandas meddling will be seen in Loki. Equally, I could see some of the events of Marvels Loki affecting the story of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Doctor Strange and Wanda could theoretically cross streams with Loki and the TVA. Perhaps the TVA itself could become an overarching plot anchor for this Phase of the MCU?

At some point, Marvel has to bring in both The Fantastic Four, and the X-Men into the prime MCU timeline. My own theory for how this will happen is the ripple effects from all this time and Multiverse meddling that will happen. Endgame may have begun this path, but WandaVision, Loki and Doctor Strange 2 will take those concepts farther. What if the Saga being told right now is the Time Saga, or the Multiverse saga? Could this next decade of the MCU finish with the Avengers battling Kang for control of time and space? Kang was not only involved with the TVA in the comics, he also had some tantalizing connections to The Fantastic Four.

Here is my prediction then. Black Widow, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and maybe even Hawkeye and Spider-Man 3 will lead up to Avengers 5.5. What I mean is a Thunderbolts movie which could act as mini Avengers movie in the way Civil War did. I already said what I want to see from the next Avengers movie in one of these columns. I am looking for Avengers 5 to be a standalone story, like Avengers, or Avengers: Age of Ultron. Following that you have a semi-Avengers movie In thunderbolts.

For the next event movie though i.e. Infinity War and Endgame, what about a massive fight against Kang? This brings The Fantastic Four and the X-Men into the prime timeline going forward and we could get some time with them in their own movies before hand. So what if Eternals, WandaVision, Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and maybe even Blade are leading towards that Multiversal event?

This is what Id like to see from Marvels Loki. Add these details to the previous weeks content in this column, and we have one fans version of how Phase 4 and Phase 5 could fit together. Ill point out again, that this is not what I predict as such. This version of the MCU exists only in my head and its where I would go with the various pieces of the puzzle we know already.

It will be hard for fans to guess much else about the MCU until we see some new content from this franchise. Unfortunately, we simply dont know when we are going to see Black Widow hit theaters? Until we do see Black Widow I think Ill try and steer this column away from the MCU for a few weeks.

Where we go next, is a choice I leave to you? actually that would be a lie, but I do welcome any suggestions of what movies or franchises youd like to see me get imaginative on? Let us know in the usual spot below with you think of my ideas, and share your own theories. See you next week..
