On Thursday, MSC's new Ocean Cay private island opened to passengers with the arrival of the cruise ship MSC Divina. The former sand mine-turned-resort site has two miles of white sand beaches, cabanas, water sports, catamaran tours, a special VIP satellite island and a spa.

"Ocean Cay is founded on a deep commitment to ecological principles beliefs that shape everything from how venues are built, to how the island is run, to the kinds of activities featured on the island," said MSC Cruises executive chairman Pierfrancesco Vago. "Having the first guests arrive on the island is a moment of great pride for all of us at MSC Cruises. We wanted to create for our guests something sustainable, with a higher purpose. Ocean Cay is not just a vacation island, it is a unique marine reserve where people and nature thrive in harmony.

Notably, Ocean Cay does not have the constructed water park / theme park elements that distinguish competing private island Perfect Day at CocoCay, located some 80 miles to the east. "There was no need for us to build extensively on an island that already had the ingredients of a natural paradise," said MSC Cruises CEO Gianni Onorato in a recent statement. "However we have undertaken extensive work to clean-up the island, removing tons of historic industrial waste and helping to return the beaches and the entire 64 square miles of protected waters surrounding the island to their pristine state.

The oolitic aragonite sand at Ocean Cay is fundamentally different from silicate sand found on U.S. shores. Each grain is built up over time by carbonate deposition, forming round, smooth particles. Its texture and bright white color make it a popular choice for aquariums, and it is desirable enough for beachgoers that it has occasionally been exportedfor (private) beach replenishment projects in Florida.

MSC Meraviglia arrives in the Americas

The opening of Ocean Cay is the second big development for MSC's U.S. divisionin a month. On November 11, the cruise line welcomed its largest ship yet in the Caribbean market, MSC Meraviglia, to her new home port of Miami.

The 4,500-passenger vesssel features a theater with two distinct Cirque du Soleil at Sea shows, a winter-themed waterparkand a VIP "ship-within-a-ship" luxury section. From November through April, the Meraviglia will sail two different seven-night western Caribbean itineraries visiting ports in Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Mexico, Belize, Honduras and The Bahamas.

A volcano erupted on a small New Zealand island frequented by tourists, killing at least five people and leaving others injured and missing Monday. The eruption sent a large plume of steam and ash into the sky around 2 p.m. local time on White Island.

Police said they believed there were fewer than 50 people present at the time of the eruption on the volcanic island, but at least five were confirmed killed. Helicopter crews have been able to land on White Island despite the danger and helped evacuate the dozens of survivors, some of them critically injured.

"There remain a number of people on the island who are unaccounted for," the police added in a statement. "Both New Zealanders and overseas tourists are believed to be involved." At least eight people were said to be unaccounted for, and police said in a later statement that after conducting overflights, "we do not believe there are any survivors on the island."

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said "no signs of life have been seen at any point." The missing and injured included New Zealanders and tourists from the U.S., China, Australia, Britain and Malaysia, Ardern added.

The police said they were "working urgently to confirm the exact number of those who have died, further to the five confirmed deceased already."

In atweet by Michael Schade, a short video clip shows the billowing plume from the eruption. "My family and I had gotten off [White Island] 20 minutes before ... Boat ride home tending to people our boat rescued was indescribable.

At least some of those injured and missing were members of a tour group from the Royal Caribbean cruise ship "Ovation of the Seas," the police confirmed. The number of cruise passengers affected and their nationalities were not clear, but the Florida-based cruise line confirmed in a statement to CBS News that "a number of our guests were touring the island."

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said 24 of the cruise passengers who were visiting the island were from his country.

"We are devastated by today's events and our hearts go out to all those affected by this tragedy. We are working together with local authorities, and we are providing all the help and care we can to our guests and their families, including offering medical resources and counseling," Royal Caribbean said in a statement. "We are also sending staff members from both our ship and our Sydney and Auckland offices to assist family members however possible."

Royal Caribbean said its ship Ovation of the Seas would remain docked "as long as needed to assist with the situation."

American newlyweds Lauren Barham and Matthew Urey were among the tourists on the cruise celebrating their honeymoon. They were both hospitalized. Lauren spoke to her parents before she left for the island hike.

"This was ridiculous, it was absurd," Rick Barham said. "And people died."

"Had my daughter known there was any risk involved, she would not have gone," Lauren's mother Barbara said.

White Island, also known by its indigenous Maori name, Whakaari, sits about 30 miles offshore of mainland New Zealand, northeast of the town of Tauranga on North Island, one of New Zealand's two main islands. Police were asking people to avoid areas on the North Island that were close to the eruption, including the Whakatane Heads and Muriwai Drive areas.

The island became a private scenic reserve in 1953, and daily tours allow more than 10,000 people to visit the volcano every year.

Brad Scott, a volcanologist with GNS Science, said the eruption was significant and sent a plume of steam and ash about 12,000 feet into the air. He said it had affected the whole of the White Island crater floor.

The GeoNet agency at first raised its alert level to four, on a scale where five represents a major eruption. It later dropped the alert level back down to three. Scott said that was because the eruption wasn't sustained beyond the initial blast.

There will be questions asked as to why tourists were still able to visit the island after scientists recently noted an uptick in volcanic activity. GeoNet monitoring cameras captured images of tourists walking around the crater of the volcano moments before the eruption on Friday, but the organization later said it had removed the video clips from its website, at least while rescue efforts remained underway.

GeoNet raised the alert level on White Island from one to two on November 18, noting an increase in the amount of sulfur dioxide gas, which originates from magma deep in the volcano. It also said at the time that over the previous weeks, the volcanic tremor had increased from weak to moderate strength.

Scott said the alert level was often raised and then later dropped again without any eruption. He said there hadn't been any major incidents with tourists visiting the island in the past, although there had been some close calls.

About 500 miles to the southwest of White Island, on the west coast of New Zealand's South Island, a large group of tourists was stranded Monday after heavy weekend rains unleashed mudslides that cut off a town popular for its glacier.

Close to 1,000 tourists were stuck in the small town of Franz Josef after landslides and flooding cut the main highway. Authorities said road access likely wouldn't be restored until Friday, and some of the tourists were choosing to leave by helicopter or small plane while others decided to wait until the highway reopened.

Westland Mayor Bruce Smith said many of the 970 tourists in Franz Josef were taking the news in stride, but some were frustrated their travel plans had been disrupted.

He said there were about 20 planes and helicopters flying in and out of the town to help people leave. He said some tourists wanted to stay with their vehicles while others were trying to get confirmation their travel insurance would cover the extra costs of flying out.

"They all have the option of taking fixed wing planes or helicopters," Smith said. "It's just a question of who writes the check. I understand that."

Smith said there would have been many more people stuck if the slips had occurred a few weeks later. He said the summer tourist season peaks in February when the town gets about 6,000 tourists traveling through each day.

Dan Burt, a spokesman for aviation tourist operator Inflite, said it had flown about 60 tourists from the town on Monday on two planes and two helicopters it had diverted to the area. He said it was charging them its normal rate of about 600 New Zealand dollars ($393) for the trip out.

Burt said many tour operators and rental car companies had been good about allowing people to leave their cars behind.

"They've said 'Look you get out of there, and we'll worry about vehicle later," Burt said. "We're trying to make sure people have a really good experience when they fly with us. We don't want their last impression of New Zealand to be three days stuck in Franz Josef."

Tourists typically visit the area to view the Franz Josef Glacier.

Somewhere on the island of Barbuda is a 67-year-old man sleeping on a crooked lawn chair inside a tent.

George Jeffrey is one of many residents who lost their homes to the wrath of Hurricane Irma, the Category 5 mega-storm that decimated 95 percent of the islands buildings and infrastructure in September 2017.

For permanent refuge, he hopes to someday build a 10-by-10 shack over a cesspool.

At a coffee shop, nearly 2,000 miles north removed from the Caribbean islands, Jason Hubbart is insistent he will help him, one way or another.

Ive got to get him off that lawn chair, said Hubbart, professor and director of the Institute for Water Security and Science at West Virginia University.

Jeffrey is just one of many Barbudans who struck up a connection with Hubbart, who in November visited the island in what originally seemed like, on paper, as strictly a business-oriented trip.

Hubbart, a professor of hydrology and water quality at the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design, was asked by Barbuda officials in 2018 to come help assess the islands freshwater resources. Apparently, throughout the islands history, the quality of water has never been professionally tested.

Once Hubbart arrived there, he knew thered be another dimension to his stay beyond testing for water quality.

Im usually a very objective thinker, which bores the hell out of people, but Im having a difficult time not being emotionally charged about this.

Dont drink the water

WVUs relationship with the small island goes back a decade. Jean Meade, owner of Cheat Lake Animal Hospital and adjunct professor at the Davis College, has traveled to Barbuda as a veterinarian to assist with its unusual donkey overpopulation as many as 8,000 donkeys are believed to roam the island, whereas its human population is less than 2,000.

Through Meades presence, the Barbuda government became aware of Hubbart and his expertise. They invited him down.

One of Hubbarts main takeaways was that most island residents have their own private water wells. Yet everyone relies on bottled water.

With as many as 8,000 donkeys wandering around and other feral critters such as hogs, its hard to say what could be lurking in well water.

As I understand it, the citizens there spend $200 to $300 a month on bottled water, which is, by the way, an average weeks salary for those folks, Hubbart said.

He estimates there are around 250 wells on the island. He intends to test them all for pathogens, bacteria, calcium, magnesium, hardness and other elements on an upcoming visit in spring 2020.

Barbuda, in its current government state, is relatively new at 38 years old it did not gain full independence until November 1981. Still, youd think itd been established long enough to have a reputable public water system. It doesnt.

Theres a new desalinization plant there but theyre trying to figure out how it works, Hubbart said. They asked me questions like, Can we put chlorine in it? And I said, Oh yeah, put chlorine in it, but not too much. So thats where were at.

After testing the water wells and quantifying well recharge rates, which will help the local municipality and agriculturists better plan draw-down rates and quantity of fresh water, Hubbart will furnish a report to help guide the Bardudans toward a clean water future.

Water data has never been collected there before, so our efforts have been well-received, he said. I would love to save these families $200 to $300 a month. I would love to be able to tell them, Hey, I tested your water. You can drink this.

Fluidity

Much work remains in rebuilding Barbuda a year-and-a-half after Hurricane Irma. Humanitarian efforts have been somewhat exacerbated by multinational developers and the central government in neighboring Antigua, which currently has jurisdiction among the Barbudan governing council.

Barbuda is known for its secluded pink and white sand beaches, and despite Hurricane Irmas lasting wreckage, developers and corporations are seeing dollar signs.

This is important, Hubbart said, because these efforts to exploit Barbuda could simultaneously erode culture, identity and traditional land relations of what is a culturally unique people and their island. We have an opportunity to provide assistance to the Barbudan people so they can deliberately and intentionally develop the island in a sustainable way to accommodate tourists and to conserve a way of life and living in a semi-closed system that is in a delicate ecological balance.

For his spring visit, Hubbart plans to take along a group of WVU faculty and students. Hes currently seeking funding for this initiative. And his plans involve more than water. Perhaps George Jeffrey will have a more comfortable sleeping space.

Its a testament to one of the Universitys missions to serve as a global steward.

Barbuda is a key example of the kinds of transformative initiatives that West Virginia University is known for, and Barbuda also serves as a metaphor for the kinds of impacts that WVU researchers and educators make in our state and around the world, Hubbart said. West Virginia University has a moment, right now, to shine as global stewards representing our state and its flagship institution.

Following abombshell interview in which Virginia Roberts Giuffre claimed she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and forced to have sex withPrince Andrew, an investigative reporter is asking why former President Bill Clintonis not being discussed.

On "The Story," New York Post writer Maureen Callahan claimed it is odd that Andrew ismost notable person to become embroiled in the alleged scandal so far.

"It seems very curious that so far the highest-profile man to be potentially taken down by this -- becausewe don't know what's going to happen yet -- though this does not look good for Andrew ... is, in essence, a dim, useless member of an aging monarchy," Callahan told host Martha MacCallum.

Andrew, the Duke of York and younger brother of heir apparent Prince Charles, has vehemently denied Giuffre's allegations.

"We know, for example, that Bill Clinton was on planes owned by Jeffrey Epstein, was on Jeffrey Epstein's private island multiple times," Callahan added. "I cannot believe we're not talking about him."

Last month, a woman with accusations against the convicted pedophiledescribed a disturbing encounter with him aboard his jet.

The accuser was 15 when Epstein preyed upon her, according to attorney Gloria Allred.

Jane Doe 15said she took Clintons seat on Epstein's private plane --known as theLolita Express, -- described bizarre bedroomfloors made of mattress foam and said she was encouraged to cry after sex with Epstein.

When I chose a seat on the jet, Jeffrey told me that is where his good friend Bill Clinton always chose to sit, she said.

Epstein had owned an island near St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands called Little St. James.

Clinton, meanwhile, said through a spokesmanearlier this year that he knows nothing about Epstein'sterrible crimes, insisting that he took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epsteins airplane in 2002 and 2003 while his Secret Service detail traveled with him at all times and that he had only brief meetings with Epstein.

"[Clinton] had one meeting with Epstein in his Harlem office in 2002, and around the same time made one brief visit to Epstein's New York apartment with a staff member and his security detail," the former president's press secretary, Angel Urea, tweeted in July.

"He's not spoken to Epstein in well over a decade and has never been to Little St. James Island, Epstein's ranch in New Mexico or his residence in Florida," the statement continued.

Epstein was found dead this past August in his Manhattan prison cell while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges.

In the Post on Tuesday, Callahan called on Scotland Yard to open an investigation into Andrew.

Achild born into a royal family cannot be unborn from it, merely hidden away inthe hope that people forget about him. That has been the sentiment expressed byleader writers across much of Britains print media in relation to PrinceAndrew, the second son of the Queen and Prince Philip.

Byvirtue of his birth, he has lived a life of enormous privilege, far removedfrom the struggles of everyday folk. And, it would appear, very far removedfrom understanding the suffering of ordinary people. That was the universalconclusion following his disastrous interview with Emily Maitlis on BBCNewsnight in which he managed to combine overbearing self-importance with sanctimoniousself-pity.

Andrewinvited sympathy from viewers for the adverse publicity that has surrounded hisprotracted friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein but expressednone for Epsteins many victims. His lack of regret over associating with aconvicted sex offender was lamentable, but his lack of empathy for the victimswas truly shocking.

Tosuggest that Andrews judgment in agreeing to a BBC interview was flawed wouldbe an understatement. It was catastrophic. Encouraged by his former wife Sarah Fergusonand, according to media reports, contrary to the advice of his former PRadviser Jason Stein, Andrew had actively pushed for the interview to takeplace. In presenting a catalogue of questionable claims, half-truths and obviousfalsehoods, he manifestly failed to convince the British public with hisperformance: in a survey of 1,600 adults carried out by YouGov for The Times,just 6 per cent of people thought he was telling the truth.

The reaction has been swift and severe. Corporate sponsors of the Prince Andrew Charitable Trust and the Pitch@Palace initiative have been making a rapid exit. Nearly half of the 35 worldwide sponsors of Pitch@Palace have already pulled the plug on their support and funding. These include: KPMG, Aon, Standard Chartered, Gravity Road, Bond University, RMIT, University of Wollongong, Murdoch University and Fondation Rideau Hall. More, such as AstraZeneca and Barclays, will inevitably follow.

Recognitionfrom Buckingham Palace that the Prince Andrew brand is now toxic, perhapsterminally, came with the announcement that he will undertake no public dutiesand receive no public money from the government-issued sovereign grant for theforeseeable future. His withdrawal from public life means that 189 charitieswhich have his backing will no longer receive his patronage. The decision was nominallypresented as Andrews, but the Queen and his elder brother, Prince Charles,forced his hand. The implication was clear: he had become a liability. In whatamounted to a resignation statement, Andrew added that he was willing tohelp any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations, ifrequired.

Attentionnow shifts to the US legal system as Andrew prepares to give formal evidence toa US criminal investigation into Epstein. Having been arrested in July 2019 onfederal charges relating to the sex trafficking of minors, Epstein died in aNew York jail cell the following month. In 2008, he had pleaded guilty and wasconvicted by a Florida court of procuring an underage girl for prostitution andof soliciting a prostitute. Epstein was convicted of only two crimes thanks toa plea bargain: federal officials had identified 36 girls, some aged 14, whomEpstein had sexually abused. He served 13 months in jail.

Epsteinsdeath denied the women whom he raped and sexually abused at his residences inNew York, Paris, Florida, New Mexico and the US Virgin Islands, the opportunityto receive justice in the US criminal courts. Lawyers acting for the victimsare now actively pursuing a different route through the civil courts.

Andrewspart in the Epstein story goes back to their first meeting in 1999, when theywere reportedly introduced through his friendship with Ghislaine Maxwell, thedaughter of newspaper tycoon Robert Maxwell. Soon afterwards, Andrewentertained Epstein at Balmoral and they continued to see each other severaltimes a year. In 2000, Andrew and Ghislaine were seen with Epstein at DonaldTrumps Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach and again at Winsor Castle to markAndrews 40th birthday.

Eventsof the following year are critical. Virginia Roberts, who was then 17, claimsto have had sex with Andrew three times, including one orgy, with the firstencounter allegedly taking place in Ms Maxwells London home. A photograph ofAndrew with his arm around Roberts waist at Maxwells home has been widelypublished. Roberts also claims to have had sex with Andrew on two furtheroccasions: at Epsteins New York home and at an orgy on his private island inthe Caribbean.

Shouldhe be required at some point to give evidence on oath in a US courtroom, Andrewwill find the questioning of someone like David Boies, who is representingRoberts, to be unlike anything he has ever experienced. A relatively straighforwardinterview with a thorough, but respectful BBC journalist is as nothing comparedto hours of skilled cross-examination from a top-drawer courtroom litigator. WhenI interviewed Boies in New York, his forensic skill and razor-sharp mind were self-evident.

Andrewis completely unused to being held accountable for anything: he has never hadhis integrity or honesty challenged in a public forum. To be cross-examined bysomeone of Boies calibre is therefore likely to be an extremely unpleasantordeal and one for which he will be woefully unprepared. Not only that, buthis modest intellectual ability, as underscored by the BBC interview, will renderhim incapable of adequately dealing with robust and relentless questioning. Inshort, he could easily be crushed.

Despitetheir divorce in 1996, Andrew and Sarah have maintained a close relationshipand the couple have often been photographed with their two daughters, Beatriceand Eugenie. In this context, I have some personal experience. My late father,George Carman QC, advised Sarah and Andrew in the late 1990s, not long beforehe first met Epstein.

Sarahasked my father to meet her at a friends house in Walton Street, Chelsea. Whenher Coutts overdraft had reached telephone-number proportions, the bank was applyinggreater pressure for it to be reduced significantly. Fergie, as Sarah wascommonly known, thought that the Queen might help: she wanted her Majestysassistance, but was afraid to put the question herself. Her solution was to askif my father would go to Balmoral to argue her case in person to the Queen andPrince Philip. My father, who had previously advised Fergie and Princess Dianaon separate defamation matters involving British newspapers, could not believethat she was serious. She must be off her head, he said incredulously.

At Fergies request, he also spoke to a nervous Andrew, who gave qualified support to the idea since he was in no position to help himself. Andrew was very keen to do everything he could to help his former wife, but was worried about how his parents would react to the suggestion of George Carman appearing in front of them, asking them to help reduce their former daughter-in-laws enormous overdraft. On this occasion, his anxiety was well-placed. When Andrew made an approach for my father to have a private audience with the Queen to plead for money in order to bail out Fergie, the response was negative. She was not amused.

By comparison with Epstein, this episode is trivial. But it does illustrate one thing: Prince Andrews judgment is deeply flawed. The media and the public who have sat in judgment on Andrew in recent months have inevitably reached the same conclusion. We wait to see whether a US court may ultimately do the same and with what consequences.

Analysis of legal papers, 20 years of newspaper reports and Jeffrey Epsteins flight logs shows that the deceased financier and convicted sex offenders friendship with Prince Andrew may have been closer than formerly realised.

Here, the Guardian answers some of the key questions about the allegations against the Duke of York and his relationship with Epstein. We also consider important but lesser-known details from accusers and witnesses.

Prince Andrew said in his interview with BBC Newsnight last month he met Epstein in 1999, through Epsteins former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell.

Maxwell, the socialite daughter of the disgraced press baron Robert Maxwell, has been accused by a number of women of being complicit with Epstein in sex trafficking and abuse and, in some cases, partaking in it. She has denied all allegations against her.

While it is not disputed that Prince Andrew met Epstein through Maxwell, some have suggested they met earlier than 1999. A 2011 letter to the Times of London from the princes then private secretary, Alastair Watson, suggests the pair knew each other from the early 1990s.

Prince Andrew says he and Epstein were not that close.

However, the pair attended several private dinners, parties and fundraisers together, including a birthday party the prince threw for Maxwell at Sandringham House, the private residence of the Queen, in 2000. The same year, Epstein and the prince partied with Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, his residence in Palm Beach, Florida.

The following year, Andrew and Epstein went on holiday together and were pictured on a yacht in Phuket, Thailand, surrounded by topless young women. The Times of London reported that the princes holiday was paid for by Epstein.

A Channel 4 Dispatches programme discovered that over 12 years, from 1999, Epstein and Andrew met on at least 10 occasions, the prince staying for several days at a time at Epsteins residences in New York, Palm Beach and the Virgin Islands.

Epstein even attended an 18th birthday party for Andrews daughter, Princess Beatrice, at Windsor Castle in 2006, two months after he had been issued an arrest warrant for sexual assault of a minor. The prince said he was unaware of the warrant and that Epstein attended as Maxwells guest.

The prince told the BBC he did not regret his friendship with Epstein, because the people that I met and the opportunities that I was given to learn either by him or because of him were actually very useful.

Prince Andrew is alleged to have had sex with Virginia Roberts Giuffre for the first time at Maxwells London home.

The prince and Maxwell are known to have been together at least a dozen times between 1999 and 2001. For instance, they were pictured at Heidi Klums hookers and pimps fancy dress party in October 2000, a month after being pictured at the wedding of a mutual friend. There was speculation the pair were dating.

Maxwell is reported to have introduced the prince to at least one person he dated.

An email exchange between Andrew and Maxwell, days after the prince was named in US court documents submitted by Roberts Giuffre, suggests he was asking for help in responding to the allegations.

In the 2015 emails, unearthed in a BBC Panorama investigation, the prince writes: Let me know when we can talk. Got some specific questions to ask you about Virginia Roberts.

Maxwell replies: Have some info. Call me when you have a moment.

Andrew claims to have no recollection of meeting Roberts Giuffre, despite being pictured with his arm around her in a now notorious photograph said to have been taken by Epstein.

Two men who say they saw the original picture say it is genuine, but friends of Andrew told the London Evening Standard they thought it was fake, claiming Andrews fingers are much chubbier in real life.

In an interview with BBC Panorama, Roberts Giuffre insisted the photo was real, saying she gave the original to the FBI in 2001 and adding: Theres a date on the back of it from when it was printed.

Three times.

Roberts Giuffre claims she was first trafficked by Epstein to have sex with the prince in Maxwells London home after dancing with him at Tramp nightclub.

Prince Andrew told BBC Newsnight he was not at Tramp but at a childrens birthday party at a Pizza Express restaurant. He categorically denies ever having sex with Roberts Giuffre.

Earlier this week, a woman came forward to claim she saw the prince and Roberts Giuffre feet away from each other on the dancefloor at the club.

The prince told Newsnight its very difficult to forget having sex with someone, because its a positive act for a man.

Roberts Giuffre alleges she had sex with Andrew a second time at Epsteins New York mansion, while she was Epsteins sex slave. Andrew says this cannot be true because he was busy on official duties.

However, a former aide told the Telegraph Andrew had gaps in his diary and was allegedly unaccompanied for several hours in New York at a time when Roberts Giuffre was in the US and says they had sex.

She says: I was very surprised to see him again. Epstein and Maxwell were making lewd jokes about Randy Andy I had sex with Andy there. I was only paid $400 from Epstein for servicing Andy that time.

In evidence to a Florida court in 2015, Roberts Giuffre wrote: The third time I had sex with Andy was in an orgy on Epsteins private island in the US Virgin Islands.

I was around 18 at the time. Epstein, Andy, approximately eight other young girls, and I had sex together. The other girls all seemed and appeared to be under the age of 18 and didnt really speak English.

Roberts Giuffres allegations were struck from the US court record in 2015.

Prince Andrew denies all the allegations.

Johanna Sjoberg claims Prince Andrew fondled her breast at Epsteins New York home on the same night as Roberts Giuffres second allegation, when she was 21. The prince has denied any sexual contact with Sjoberg.

In a defamation suit filed against Maxwell by Roberts Giuffre in 2015, Sjoberg says she, Roberts Giuffre and another female were invited to sit on Andrews lap to pose for a photo with him and his Spitting Image puppet.

She said: Virginia sat on a chair and had the puppet on her lap. Andrew sat on another chair, I sat on his lap and he put his hand on my breast. Ghislaine put the puppets hand on Virginias breast, then Andrew put his hand on mine. It was a great joke.

Differences between Giuffre and Sjobergs recollections of this night have been noted. Asked about accusations of inconsistency during her BBC Panorama interview, Roberts Giuffre said: You are left with a foggy memory sometimes, you really are. I might be wrong on dates absolutely and I might be wrong on places even, sometimes But one thing that I can tell you is you never forget the face of someone who has heaved over you.

Last month, Sjoberg said she was prepared to share her claims with the FBI.

Prince Andrew was seen inside the New York home of Epstein getting a foot massage from a young woman, according to emails between a literary agent, John Brockman, and author Evgeny Morozov.

Brockman is reported to have said: Last time I visited his house, I walked in to find him in a sweatsuit and a British guy in a suit with suspenders [braces], getting foot massages from two young well-dressed Russian women.

Brockman writes that the prince complained about his public profile.

In Monaco, Albert works 12 hours a day but at 9pm, when he goes out, he does whatever he wants, and nobody cares. But, if I do it, Im in big trouble, the emails describe him as saying.

At that point, Brockman writes: I realized that the recipient of Irinas foot massage was his Royal Highness, Prince Andrew, Duke of York.

Prince Andrew flew on Epsteins private plane at least four times, once to Edinburgh, once to the Virgin Islands and twice to Palm Beach. Six weeks after Epstein was arrested for sex offences on 1 September 2006, the prince flew from London Luton to Edinburgh on Epsteins plane with Maxwell.

An analysis of the flight logs by Channel 4s Dispatches found that on 16 April 1998, Epstein met Princess Sarah Ferguson and kids on the ground in Nassau in the Bahamas.

The flight logs also confirm that Roberts Giuffre was in London on the night of her first alleged meeting with the prince.

In December 2010, the Duchess of York was given 15,000 by Epstein to help pay off her debts, just 18 months after he was released from jail for soliciting prostitution from underage girls. The Duchess later claimed her judgment had been clouded by her desperation to get out of her 5m debt and vowed to repay the money.

She is understood to have visited Epsteins properties several times.

The Duchess told the Evening Standard: I personally, on behalf of myself, deeply regret that Jeffrey Epstein became involved in any way with me.

The prince has stepped down from official duties.

Five Epstein accusers want him to give evidence in US courts, saying he must talk to the FBI. Their lawyer, David Boies, claims Andrew witnessed men being given massages at the financiers homes. Pre-trial witness subpoenas have been prepared for the five cases and could be served on the prince if he sets foot in the US again.
