WW3 plans: Location of MASSIVE secret airfields hidden right under your nose REVEALED – Daily Star

THE locations of enormous airfields ready for use in the event of WW3 have been revealed.

Several of the world's largest airstrips are hidden in plain sight and people use them every day.

To the naked eye they would be impossible to spot, but experts have revealed that the world's enormous motorway networks will double up as landing strips in the event of total war.

Called highway strips, these motorways have been specifically designed so if a country's air bases are taken out, fighter jets can still take to the skies.

After minimal reconstruction work, the road's usual gentle curves die away and are replaced by dead straights; the grassy median strip disappears, uncovering a centre runway line.

As Donald Trump has promised to start an arms race, we take a look at the futuristic weapons being developed for the US military.

And, off to the side, what looks like a large car park can actually become an aircraft parking bay.

A44 autobahn in central Germany, and similar roads in Switzerland, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan, Finland and Australia, will become major airfields capable of housing deadly bombers and fighters.

The latest country to sign up for roads-turned-runways is India.

Last year, the country's transport minister, Nitin Gadkari, said they could one day be used for civilian air travel.

We can close road traffic when a plane lands and open once the plane has taken off, he said.

Airport investment costs would come down as the road will also be used as an airstrip.

But Srikanth Ramakrishnan, a journalist with Swarajya magazine, said the roads will more likely be used as secret military launch pads.

He said: In the border areas in Arunachal Pradesh [province], which Gadkari has mentioned in his plan, airstrips could be built for the air force to use in case of, say, a Chinese incursion.

Putin has an arsenal of state-of-the-art weaponry at his fingertips. Could this be the hardware that wages WW3?

First established during the Cold War, highway strips took advantage of Germany's pioneering autobahn network.

Warplanes could be parked in bushes, next to the highway, ready to take off in minutes.

And the highway landing strips have already proved themselves useful.

In 1984, NATO forces commandeered an entire autobahn, near Ahlhorn in northwest Germany, for 48 hours.

A mobile air traffic control tower was wheeled in as Hercules transports and Tornado jets practiced their landing skills just yards from an overpass.
