The state government has announced a training program for North-West agricultural employers, which is set to benefit 150 workers. Access to vocational training and providing agricultural businesses with advice are some of the benefits of the Liberal government's North West Agriculture Skills Delivery Program. Skills, Training and Workforce Growth Minister Sarah Courtney hoped the program would create a training and development culture. "We want to help more Tasmanians into jobs and make it easier for employers to take on employees, which is exactly what this program will do," Ms Courtney said. "The funding - through Skills Tasmania - will fund an organisation to identify training opportunities for the workforce and facilitate participation in training pathways, helping the sector to address current and future workforce needs." IN OTHER NEWS The program is part of the wider North West Job Ready Generation Package, which has seen $3.9 million invested in providing more jobs and apprenticeship opportunities for people on the Coast. Braddon Liberal MP Felix Ellis said the program would give opportunities for people to enter the industry. "Agriculture is a career that can set you up for life, and training up locals gives them a chance to work on the land and grow our economy right here in the North West", he said.
