Two people taken to hospital after A55 collision near Broughton Shopping Park – North Wales Live

Two people were taken to hospital this morning after a crash which blocked an exit road from the Broughton shopping park in Flintshire.

Emergency services were alerted before 9am on Tuesday following reports of a two-vehicle collision on a slip-road leading to the eastbound A55 towards Chester.

The road was blocked for five hours before finally reopening at 1.50pm.

Motorists were asked to take alternative routes where possible.

AA Roadwatch reported traffic in the area was coping well as eastbound motorists sought other routes through Sealand and Bretton.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service (NWFRS) sent two two crews from Deeside to the scene of the crash, just a few hundred metres from the Wales-England border.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said it was called to the incident at 8.45am.

A spokesperson said: We sent two emergency ambulances to the scene.

Two people were conveyed to the Countess of Chester Hospital.

In a post on social media, North Wales Police thanked motorists for people for their forebearance.

They said: Thank you for your patience whilst we dealt with the incident.
