Rivers Casino on Pittsburgh's North Shore will reopen June 9. The casino has been closed since March 15 due to the coronavirus pandemic.What does the casino look like now? That's just one of many new procedures under the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board's reopening protocols. Masks will be required for guests and employees. A complete list of gaming floor modifications and safety precautions will be posted on the casino's website.To comply with state guidelines and promote social distancing, the casino said it will limit gaming floor and restaurant capacity to 50% occupancy. A customer counter will be used at both entrances."We have removed every other seat from the slot machines," Rivers general manager Bill Keena said. "Table games are going to have three people at each blackjack game; on the roulette will be four, and craps will be six. We are not opening poker."The majority of the gaming floor, including the sportsbook, will be open. Wheelhouse Bar & Grill, Ciao, Drum Bar, Spiral Bar and Flipt will have limited hours of operation.Valet parking, Grand View Buffet and the Event Center will remain closed for now.After most workers were furloughed in April, the casino says 1,000 of its approximately 1,700 employees have been called back to work."And number two is the revenue that has been lost by the industry's closure in Pennsylvania -- which is somewhere north of $100 million a year statewide, just the tax revenue -- is also going to start to return," said Doug Harbach, spokesman for the state Gaming Control Board.
