Massachusetts is looking to become the latest in a long line of states to make sports betting legal, with the most recent bill, HD 678, aiming to see both retail and online sports betting be written into law in the very near future.

Casino gambling is legal in the state. However, given sports gambling isnt, so it's no surprise to learn that they have no retail or online sportsbooks live in the state at this time. This looks like it could change in the coming months thanks to bill HD 678.

Sports betting is currently not legal in MA, with this being the case despite the state putting forward a bill to do so in 2020, with the most recent bill, HD678, being the states most recent attempt to legalize it.

With this new bill being proposed, it shouldnt be too long before sports betting is signed into law as long as HD678 gets approved by the Senate.

With sports betting yet to be legalized in MA, its currently unknown as to how many sportsbooks will be live in the state once sports betting has been signed into law.

Despite this, the likes of DraftKings, BetMGM and FanDuel are all expected to submit bids to launch to gain sports betting licenses in the Bay state once sports betting rears its head in MA.

Although those in MA cant currently bet on sports in their state, they are surrounded by states that have legalized sports betting within the past few years.

The likes of New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut have all made sports betting legal in recent times, with New York being Massachusetts only bordering state to have yet signed sports betting into law.

Playing host to cities such as Boston, Worcester and Springfield, it wont be a surprise to see a number of sports betting sites attempt to launch in Massachusetts when the time comes.

With this in mind, were here to go through the biggest and best sportsbooks that will most likely launch in MA once sports betting is finally signed into law.

DraftKings headquarters are currently situated in Boston, with and given theyre already live in the state in the form of a Daily Fantasy Sports site, it would be very surprising to see DK make no attempts to launch in Massachusetts.

Given theyre already live in a number of states across the US, we should be seeing Massachusetts be the latest state to welcome DraftKings sportsbook to their shores when the time comes.

Caesars are one of the biggest names in the US when it comes to gambling, with their famous Caesars Palace in Las Vegas being one of the country's most well-known casinos.

Given they now have a top-of-the-range sportsbook following their acquisition of William Hill earlier this year, expect Caesars to do all they can when it comes to offering their services to those in MA.

Originally starting out in Australia, PointsBet is now one of the US most popular sportsbooks, with PB being live in seven states at the time of writing, with MA certain to be on the list of potential new homes for PointsBets sportsbook.

Given their stature, combined with the business opportunities that present themselves by launching in Massachusetts, seeing PointsBet ignore MA when sports betting is made legal in the state would be hugely surprising.

With sports betting not yet up and running in Massachusetts, those in MS can still wager on sports via the surrounding states, with the likes of New Hampshire and Connecticut both offering online sports betting.

With sports betting yet to be made legal in Massachusetts despite the state trying to pass a bill in 2020, there are no retail sportsbooks operational in MA.

With there being a number of casinos offering regular gambling already in Massachusetts, it wouldnt come as a surprise to see retail sportsbooks launch throughout the state once sports betting is signed into law.

Massachusetts recently received its biggest boost yet when it comes to their attempts to see sports betting legalized, with bill HD678 being proposed by Gov. Baker in late September.

With DraftKings headquartered in the state, MA currently has one thing going for it in their strive to get sports betting written into law, with DK set to do all they can in order to help MA legalize sports betting in the near future.

Theyre charging sportsbooks just $600,000 in total to open operations in the state for when sports betting is eventually legalized, a factor that plays into their hands, especially given neighboring state New York is charging $12M for this same privilege.

With PASPA only being dissolved in 2018, Massachusetts has obviously only been able to try and legalize sports gambling in the last few years, with their first attempt, which came in 2020, failing at the last hurdle.

The bill, H4887, was approved by the House, however the Senate rejected it, with MA failing to get any kind of sports betting legalized at their first attempt.

Despite this setback, MA are now putting forward a new bill, HD 678, with Massachusetts going through with their second attempt to legalize sports betting since PASPAs dissolve.

This bill is yet to be put to the House or the Senate, however with it being put forward by MAs own governor Charlie Baker, itll be very interesting to see how it fares when put to the important bodies.
