Kayshon Boutte is facing charges related to illegal online gaming.

Multiple reports state that Boutte allegedly used a fraudulent online gambling account nearly 9,000 times, and 17 of those bets were on college football games, while at least 6 were on LSU games, Michael Cauble of WBRZ reported.

Some of the alleged illegal gaming took place while he was an LSU player, investigators allege, according to WAFB. However, WAFB reported that Boutte never bet against himself and his actions in LSU games, and is not accused of throwing a game.

Boutte turned himself in on charges of computer fraud, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of gaming prohibited for persons under 21. Boutte was reportedly booked on Thursday into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail.

LSU issued a statement to Cauble about the issue: In July 2023, LSU was made aware of allegations regarding a former student-athletes improper conduct related to sports gambling while enrolled at the University. Since then, we have fully cooperated with all relevant authorities involved in the investigation and will continue to do so. We have no evidence that any other student-athletes participated in these prohibited activities, and we are grateful for measures that detect and discourage sports gambling-related misconduct.
