BOS Urge Swedish Government To End Pandemic Restrictions – Inkedin

The Swedish online gambling trade group, Branschfreningen fr Onlinespel (BOS), has requested the government to lift the limitations on online casinos on September 29, rather than November 14, as previously stated.

Almost all general limitations linked to the pandemic will be released throughout Swedish businesses on September 29th, according to the trade association, thus regulations governing the gambling industry should be lifted as well.

Since July 2020, registered online gambling providers in Sweden have been required to adhere to a weekly deposit cap of SEK 5,000 (460) for online casino and slot games.

According to BOS: The main argument from the government for the restrictions was a concern that increased time spent in the home during the pandemic would lead to increased gambling problems. That did not happen, it would turn out.

Now that the Swedish Public Health Agency is also lifting the recommendation to work from home from 29 September, we believe that the government should lift the temporary restrictions for online casinos on the same date in the name of consistency.

Operators have limited playing periods and promotional incentives on online casinos and VLTs because to further pandemic limitations.

To add to the complaints, Swedens government has repeatedly extended its online gambling limitations, the most recent of which was implemented on May 20 of this year. The regulation was subsequently agreed to be prolonged until November 14th of this year.

Sweden appears to have passed through the most severe period of the epidemic, and is preparing to emerge from lockdown and resume normal life and business operations, according to the BOS request.

In light of this, BOS has urged that the government combine the termination of the temporary gaming regulations with the termination of the general pandemic limitations. As a result, the temporary regulation on gambling liability measures will expire on September 29, rather than November 14, this year.
