RWE and Vattenfall have confirmed that none of their offshore wind farms off south and south-east England have suffered damage from the arrival of Storm Ciaran.

The powerful storm unleashed wind speeds in excess of 100mph across north-west France and the Channel Islands as it swept in from the Atlantic on the morning of 2 November.

A major incident was put in place for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight as the south of England also bore the brunt.

An RWE spokesman told reNEWS that nothing has been reported at the 400MW 116-turbine Rampion array near Sussex, which became the first offshore wind farm off the south coast of England when it opened in April 2018.

According to the developer there were also no reported problems at London Array.

The 630MW offshore wind farm is located 20 km off the north coast of Kent in the Outer Thames Estuary.

Vattenfall added that there were no weather-related problems at the Thanet (300MW) or Kentish Flats (140MW) arrays, which are both also located off the coast of Kent.
