Institution news Oceania election closing date extended

The positions of Chair and Young Member Representative for the North East Asia Region and the Oceania Region are up for election in 2021.

The nomination period for the North East Asia regional elections officially closed on 5 March 2021.All nominations received have been verified; we can confirm that there are four eligible candidates for the position of North East Asia Regional Chair and Young Member Regional representative.

It is the role of the Chair and Young Member Representative to represent the Region and to work with the volunteer groups to raise the profile of the Institution and encourage more people to get involved. This could be through organising or attending events, strengthening links with industry and local institutions and developing the regions strategy in line with the Institutions overall business plan.

Voting for the positions will take place throughout April and those eligible to vote will receive further information shortly.

It has been brought to our attention that COVID-19 has caused some delays with the delivery of postal nominations letters meaning some of you may have not had the opportunity to submit your nomination.

As a result it has been agreed to extend the deadline by two weeks to provide you with the opportunity to nominate yourself, if interested. The new deadline will be 29 March 2021 11:59 GMT.This is an ideal opportunity to influence the Institutions future international development, so please go to the Oceania NearYou pageto download the nominee pack where you will find an application form and more information about the criteria and duties for each role.

If you have any questions about the process, please email mary.newton@imeche.org.
