THE US navy has a lethal secret weapon that could win them World War Three as tensions rise between North Korea, China, Russia, the US and the Middle East.

Boffins are carrying out a string of experiments of an electromagnetic railgun their "most powerful cannon" that fires projectiles at "seven times the speed of sound".

Test footage available above shows the weapon being loaded with a huge shell before being launched via electromagnetic pulse through "a fireball of molten steel".

It rockets through the air before smashing into a dummy warhead displaying its awesome power.

"The electromagnetic railgun represents an incredible new offensive capability for the U.S. Navy," says Rear Admiral Bryant Fuller in a statement.

This capability will allow us to effectively counter a wide range of threats at a relatively low cost, while keeping our ships and sailors safer by removing the need to carry as many high-explosive weapons.

The super cannon can fire up to 100 miles and is unique in not requiring explosive warheads to function.

"There's not a thing in the sky that is going to survive against that," says Rear Admiral Matthew Klunder, who developed the railgun.

"It will give our adversaries a huge moment of pause to 'do I even want to go engage a naval ship?' because you are going to lose.

"You could throw anything at us, frankly, and the fact that we now can shoot a number of these rounds at a very affordable cost, its my opinion that they dont win."

An ICBM is a long-range guided ballistic missile with a minimum range of 5,500 kilometres.

In theory, it is thought US and North Korea which are around 8,000km apart could strike each other with an ICBM.

The primary purpose of the missile is to delivery several warheads containing nuclear weapons on multiple long range targets.

ICBM were first deployed by the Soviet Union in 1958, following by the US in 1959 and China some 20 years later.

Peak speed for an ICMB is around 14,500mph or 6-7km/s with a 10 minute acceleration period.

At that speed an ICBM fired from Moscow could reach New York in around 20 to 30 minutes.

Russia's RS-24 Yars Intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) can strike anywhere in the US with ten nuclear warheads, according to reports.

US military personnel will test fire the deadly Minuteman III ICBM at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California between 12-6am (UK time) on Wednesday April 26.

Air Force Global Strike Command confirmed it will carry out the test to ensure the effectiveness, readiness and accuracy of the weapon.

President Donald Trump. That still looks incredibly strange written down, but hey, that's the crazy fucking world we live in, isn't it?

The Trump presidency, even in its relatively early stages, has made a lot of people feel pretty uneasy about the state of certain international relationships.

Most notably, tensions between the US and North Korea are at a nerve-wracking high, prompting fears of a nuclear strike from the hermit nation and its unstable as fuck leader, Kim Jong Un.

In a number of threads that reference "4/26", today's date (the clocks have ticked over in the US at the time of writing), a bunch of people have presented evidence that allegedly points to a North Korean attack.

Essentially, this all has to do with Operation Gotham Shield - a legitimate training exercise that's happening in New York and New Jersey to test preparedness for a nuclear strike in the country.

Internet nutjobs reckon this exercise will be used to pass off an actual nuclear attack as a routine exercise, even though it's been in planning for "about a year", the Federal Emergency Management Agency told Motherboard.

A number of conspiracy outlets like InfoWars are joining the circus, throwing the theory around like terrifying confetti, but the Reddit post's author, "Fuckaduckfuckaduck", decided to take things even further, suggesting the exercise is merely a distraction.

"What if North Korea's nuclear test isn't their usual underground test? What if it's a "test' of their newly unveiled submarine based ballistic missiles... from a sub off the coast of the U.S.?," they said.

To support this wild claim, the user provided a list of plane crashes, explosions, earthquakes and scientific discoveries that have historically happened on April 26. How this ties into the intentions of North Korea is anyone's guess.

He also cites Operation Jade Helm, which InfoWars presenter Alex Jones reckons isObama's "secret plan" to impose martial law and take away all the guns in Texas.

Will it happen? Not bloody likely, but the prospect of nuclear war is as scary as it's ever been. The unpredictable nature of both President Trump and North Korea is truly terrifying.

Of course, the end of the war does not come any closerand, for Winston, the bad news keeps coming. Syria is our Malabar Front.

In mid-February this year, four Russians were killed by a roadside bomb near the embattled Syrian city of Homs. They were "advisors" with Syrian Government forces. That same week, a Russian airstrike killed three Turkish soldiers in an all-too-common "friendly-fire" incident on the Syrian "battle space".

A month later, a very credible Reuters dispatch put the number of Russian fighter deaths at 18 so far in 2017. A number of Russians were among heavy losses sustained in the battles around Palmyra with forces identified as "Islamic State".

Russia has been involved in Syria, on the side of the Assad Government, since mid-2015. Russian planes bombed a market in the anti-Assad stronghold of Aleppo in September 2016. The Syrian Network for Human Rights published research showing Russian airstrikes, in support of Assads forces on the ground, had killed over 2,700 civilians.

Russia was not the first global power to drop bombs in Syria. The Americans stepped in first in September 2014and since then has been bombing IS targets in Syria.

Australia has around 800 personnel deployed on missions in Syria and Iraq, offering co-operation and enthusiastic support for the American effort against terrorism. In September 2016, Australian aircraft were involved in a botched U.S. air strike which killed Syrian government troops accidentally.

Task Group Taji: 300 Aussies with the combined Australian-New Zealand military training force located at the Taji Military Complex northwest of Baghdad.

Special Operations Task Group: 80 Australians providing "military advice and assistance to the Counter-Terrorism Service of the Iraqi Security Forces."

Air Task Group: 400 personnel in support of airstrikes over Syria and Iraq.

Australia also has six F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets in the theatre, as well as an E-7 Wedgetail airborne early warning and control aircraft and a KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport.

These aircraft have to date conducted a total of 1,646 sorties and released 641 munitions in the conflict.

The Russian bombing of Aleppo in the last quarter of 2016 prompted a falling out between Washington and Moscow over the air war in Syria. Then Obamas administration Secretary of State John Kerry condemned the airstrikes, which had also allegedly deliberately hit hospitals in rebel-held areas.

Kerry also announced an end to U.S. cooperation with Russian forces in combatting the ISfactions in October 2016but, by the end of the year perhaps sensing that without Putin there was no solution in Syria Kerry had changed the U.S. tune again, urging Russia to help broker a ceasefire in Aleppo, but not calling for Assad to step down.

Of course, as we know, this is the situation inherited by Donald Trump in January 2017 after his inauguration. Trump pledged to go after ISIS in Syria and Iraq and claimed he would be able to defeat the terrorist threat quickly.

Like most of Trumps promises, this one has not been kept, nor can it be.

On the ground, Trumps plan was to create so-called "safe zones" for Syrian refugees inside Syria. However, this is a fraught strategy that has, so far, not been implemented. When it was raised earlier this year, the plan was seen to be too dangerous, given the global focus on Syria.

Even Trump seemed to back away from it in an interview with The Guardian.

What we should do is focus on ISIS. We should not be focusing on Syria, Trump told The Guardian. Youre going to end up in World War III over Syria if we listen to Hillary Clinton.

He continued: Youre not fighting Syria anymore, youre fighting Syria, Russia and Iran, all right? Russia is a nuclear country, but a country where the nukes work as opposed to other countries that talk.

Russia also issued a veiled warning to the Trump administration.

Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, said in a conference call with reporters Thursday that its important for the US to think about the potential consequences of establishing safe zones in Syria.

While Trumps plan for refugee safe zones seems to have evaporated, the U.S. has continued to be aggressive in Syria. In response to a regime-launched chemical weapon attack in rebel-held Idlib, Trump authorised the launch of 59 cruise missiles into a Syrian Government airfield in the first week of April.

It was a strange, if symbolic, gesture. The Syrian planes that dropped the sarin gas bombs on Idlib flew from the airbase that was bombed. But Washington told Moscow the attack was imminent. Moscow told Damascus and the Syrian Air Force moved its assets.

This convoluted exercise both defines and obscures the tangled web of global fault lines and power lines that criss-cross Syrian airspace, and complicated the battlefield.

Trump is behaving strangely for someone who acknowledges the dangers in escalating the war in Syria.

Almost a month after the cruise missile strike, the strategic goal of the attack on the Shayrat Airbase is not clear. Even the White House and the State Department continue to send mixed signals on the raid.

Secretary of StateRex Tillersononly added to the confusion with this statement:

This clearly indicates the president is willing to take decisive action when called for, the secretary said. I would not in any way attempt to extrapolate that to a change in our policy or posture relative to our military activities in Syria today. There has been no change in that status. What exactly does he mean by that? Is it still not a U.S. priority to take out Assad? Spicer cut off questioning before anyone could follow up.

The situation in Syria is made both more complex and more dangerous because of the deeply-embedded Russian presence, and the alliance of military and strategic convenience between Moscow, Damascus and Tehran.

The Russia-Syria-Iran alliance is a Gordian knot for the West. Russia wants to keep Assad in power and so too does Iran. The U.S. cannot remove Assad without Russian and Iranian approval, and help.

Neither is inclined to be helpful.

Syria will remain in a state of dangerous stasis for the foreseeable future. While ever Washington and Moscow use Syria as a pawn, a bargaining chip, or a proxy battle field, the potential for a more extensive conflict to begin there will only grow.

The problem many of us confront when thinking about Syria is that there does not appear to be any "side" in this war that can be supported without reservation.

If we are to come to grips with a region that could springboard us into a global war, we need to come to terms with the various factions, which well look at in Part 3 of this series.

A US Defence official told CNN, Russian military aircraft have been seen flying off the coast of Alaska for the fourth time in four days.

Two Tu-95 nuclear-capable Bear bombers and two IL-38 maritime patrol aircraft were spotted off the coast but remained outside of US airspace on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to CNN, the bombers entered the Alaskan Air Defence Identification Zone some 700 nautical miles southwest of Anchorage.

The US Defence official said there is no other way to interpret this other than as strategic messaging.

US fighter jets intercepted two Russian bombers in international airspace 100 miles from Kodiak Island, Alaska on Monday.

Tensions continued to escalate on Tuesday when two Russian bombers were spotted in the same area just 41 miles off the Alaskan coast.

US surveillance aircraft were called to the scene as Moscow said the movements were part of regular patrols.

The Russian Defence Ministry said its aircraft regularly carries out patrol missions above the neutral waters of the Arctic, the Atlantic, the Black Sea and the Pacific Ocean.

All such missions are carried out in strict compliance with international regulations and with respect to national borders.

But one US defence expert says the missions are part of Russian President Vladimir Putin trying to prove Russia is back in the game.

Howard Stoffer, a former member of the State Department, told CNN: "This kind of cat-and-mouse stuff has been going on for a while now.

Putin is trying to put the US on notice that the Russians are everywhere and are back to expanding the limits of expanding their military power."

As tensions threaten to reach boiling point over North Korea and Syria, Russian aircraft have been seen flying along the coastline of US ally Japan four times this month.

Russian spy ship the Viktor Leonov has also reportedly been spotted near the US coastline twice as US-Russia relations reach a new low.

But Mr Stoffer says although it is unlikely the US would fire a shot at Russian military, Washington could authorise attempts to jam Russian aircraft radar and systems sparking a plane crash.

As tensions rise between the United States and North Korea, conspiracy theorists believe prophetess Baba Vanga may have foretold a catastrophic global war.

The Bulgarian - who died in 1996 aged 85 - was known as the 'Nostradamus from the Balkans'.

She is revered in Russia for her 85% success rate when it comes to telling the future - with millions convinced that she possessed paranormal abilities.

Before she died, the clairvoyant made a chilling prophecy about the use of nuclear weapons and World War 3.

Baba prophesised a 2016 invasion of Europe by Muslim extremists, a conflict she predicted would begin with the Arab Spring in 2010.

She also forewarned of a showdown in Syria where Muslims would use chemical warfare against Europeans.

The prediction is eerily similar to the Sarin gas attack thought to have been conducted on the orders of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.

Many put faith in Baba's predictions due to the accuracy of her previous prophecies.

Theorists believe she foretold Brexit - even going so far as to say that Europe as we know it will cease to exist by the end of 2016.

Moreover she claimed the continent will be left almost empty - and be turned into a wasteland almost entirely devoid of any form of life.

She foretold that nuclear war would ravages the world and most people die of skin cancer from chemical weapons.

Baba also appeared to predict that the 45th President of the United States - who we now know to be Donald Trump - would be faced with a crisis which would "bring the country down".

Her chilling prediction states: Everyone will put their hopes in him to end it, but the opposite will happen; he will bring the country down and conflicts between north and south states will escalate.

Some speculate the references to "north and south" could mean North and South Korea.

Moreover, Baba warned than assassination attempts on four heads of states in 2010 would become one of the causes for the start of WWIII.

Some dismissed this prediction as incorrect as the heads of state were believed to potentially refer to Obama, Sarkozsky, Netanyahu, Vladimir Putin and Gordon Brown.

However, observers note that Hamas leader Mahmd al-Mabhouh was assassinated in Dubai on January 19, 2010 and Polish leader Lech Kaczynski was found dead in suspicious circumstances on April 10, 2010.

Others point out that Libya's Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was killed on October 20, 2011 and Saddam Hussein died a few years earlier on December 30, 2006.

All were linked to the Arab Spring which Baba said would set events in motion which would bring about the next global conflict.

Baba's predictions have been revisited after another mystic, who accurately foretold Donald Trump's presidency, claims to know the exact date World War 3 will start.

Self-proclaimed 'messenger of God' Horacio Villegas believes nuclear war will break out on the 100th anniversary of the visitation of Our Lady of Fatima.

The clairvoyant claims to have envisioned Trump would win the US election as far back as 2015.

He reportedly predicted the billionaire businessman would become the illuminati king who will bring the world into WW3 .

Chillingly, one of his prophecies appears to have already come true.

Villegas warned the US leader would attack Syria , which took place earlier this month when Trump launched a huge air strike on an airbase in Homs.

He also predicted that it would bring Russia, North Korea and China into the deadly global conflict - something which, if the prophecy is to be believed, may be just WEEKS away.

Critics however claim that people will twist Baba Vanga's prophecies to make them seem true.

Baba's prediction over 9/11 is said to be from a statement she made in 1989.

She predicted: "Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush, and innocent blood will be gushing."

Baba also said that Europe will be transformed into an Islamic caliphate by 2043, Communism will return by 2076 and there will be war on Mars in 3005.

But she got her prediction for the 1994 World Cup final completely wrong - saying it would be played between "two teams beginning with B", when in fact Brazil beat Italy 3-2 on penalties.

What else did she get right? And what does the future hold according to the mystical seer?

In 1980 the blind prophetess predicted that in August of 1999, Kursk will be covered with water and the whole world will weep over it.

Kursk was a Russian sub that Sank in the Barents Sea on August 12, 2000, killing all aboard.

In 1989 Baba Vanga said: Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush, and innocent blood will be gushing."

On September 11, 2001, planes hijacked by Islamic extremists hit the World Trade Center in New York, killing thousands of people.

According to the prophetess, China will become a world power in 2018.

Shes probably out a few years here as China is already an economic and military powerhouse.

Weve also apparently got a change in the earths orbit to look forward to some time before 2023.

A new energy source will be created and global hunger will start to be eradicated between 2025 and 2028. A manned spacecraft to Venus will be launched.

The rise of cloning allows doctors to cure any disease as the body is simply and easily replaced.

The US will launch an attack on Muslim Rome using a climate-based instant freezing weapon.

Baba Vanga, the blind Nostradamus of the Balkans, made some troubling predictions about World War Three that have sparked the imagination of conspiracy enthusiasts.

The prophetess, who died aged 85 in 1996, is alleged to have made hundreds of predictions about the future of humanity, with an 85 per cent accuracy rate, from her home in Petrich, Bulgaria.

On closer inspection of her predictions courtesy of some creative internet sorts it seems Baba Vanga also warned of conflict in Syria, nuclear war and the demise of the US president.

Her prophecies take on a new gravitas in the tumultuous global climate of recent months, and the persistent threats of nuclear war batted back and forth between North Korean and American administrations.

Vanga, a woman skilled in eloquent vagaries and nonchalant non-sequiturs, foretold that the world would be ravaged by war and transformed into a wasteland almost entirely devoid of any form of life, reports the Mirror.

According to Vanga this would be kick-started by the Arab Spring in 2010 and ensue after a showdown in Syria wherein Muslims would use chemical warfare against Europeans, eventually resulting in the establishment of a caliphate by 2043 with Rome at the centre.

She cited her own (uncorroborated) second sight when predicting that most people would die of skin cancer from chemical weapons a horrific proposition that some fretful observers have compared to the recent sarin gas attack in Syria.

Troubled politicos also jumped on Vangas prediction that the 45th President would be faced with a crisis that would bring the country down.

Vanga, who is hailed in Russia as having paranormal powers of sight, supposedly prophecised 9/11 when she claimed two steel birds would attack the American brethren.

In 1989, she reportedly warned:

Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush, and innocent blood will be gushing.

Some also believe she predicted global warming when she foresaw cold regions will become warm and volcanoes will awaken.

Moreover, Vangas followers say she predicted the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami, warning a huge wave would descend on a big coast, covering people and towns and [causing] everything to disappear under the water.

In a bizarre leap, some have even suggested she predicted Brexit when she said Europe, as we know it, would cease to exist.

While her predictions may take on a posthumous poignancy and play on the tangible global tensions and public fear, Baba actually got her 1994 World Cup guess wrong, saying two teams beginning with B would stand off.
