WW3 warning: India puts China on alert after threat to ‘strike first’ against Beijing – Daily Express

Posted: October 27, 2020 at 11:00 pm

Tensions between China and India have intensified after the Indian Navy released footage of a new military drill. In the video, an anti-ship missile obliterates a decomissioned frigate somewhere in the Arabian Sea. The video, posted on Twitter, was accompanied with a claim: "Strike First. Strike Hard."

India is understood to have used the latest drill to send a strong signal to China, demonstrating the country's combat readiness in the Indian Ocean where it is challenged by Beijing.

The video shows the warship Prabal corvette sinking an old, decommissioned frigate with a KH-35 Uran anti-ship missile launched at maximum range "with deadly accuracy".

India has ramped up its war-readiness in recent weeks, such as testing the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and Abhyas high-speed expendable aerial target.

They have also tested the Shaurya strategic missile, Nag anti-tank guided missile, and the Rudram-1 anti-radiation missile system.

JUST IN:WW3 fears grow as US, India, Japan and Australia unite against China

In total, India has test fired a dozen missiles in just 45 days.

While it did not mention China by name, Indias Ministry of Defense stressed that given the prevailing security situation the Indian navy would continue maintaining a high-tempo of operations in coming months".

The Indian media has portrayed these latest tests as a warning to Beijing amid an ongoing border dispute with China.

The relationship between China and India worsened after tensions flared up earlier this year at the disputed border, known as the Line of Actual Control, in the Himalayan region.

As a result of the fighting, 20 Indian soldiers were killed while China has refused to not confirm the number of casualties on its side.

The two nations have held several rounds of high-level talks in an attempt to secure a peaceful resolution to the stand-off.

Currently, both India and China have maintained a confrontational position along the disputed border in the remote region.

Earlier this week, Beijing issued its own military warning after firing "dozens of missiles" in a terrifying two-day exercise.

An official Chinese outlet said air-to-air missiles were launched during a two-day military exercise on Hainan Island this week.

The drill took place in the South China Sea and wasorganised by the naval force of the Southern Theatre Command of the People's Liberation Army.

China claims it has a historic right of ownership to almost the entire South China Sea, despite a 2016 international arbitration ruling saying Beijing's claim had no legal basis under international law.

WW3 fears as US to boost arms deals with foreign countries to counter China and Russia – Daily Express

Posted: at 11:00 pm

Mark Esper, also the Pentagon chief, announced the US intention to take a bigger share of the global arms deal market. The Trump administration official warned of China and Russias influence, and called on the defence industry to take action through increasing arms exports. It comes as President Donald Trumps administration has ramped up responses to Beijing and Moscow this year, with nuclear treaties with Russia lapsing and heavy sanctions issued to China.

The defence secretary addressed the Atlantic Council think tank on Tuesday, calling on the defence industry to ramp up US sales of weapons to allied countries.

Mr Esper suggested increased arms sales would help increase allied nations protections against the US primary competitors in China and Russia.

He said: [We] must compete with China and Russia, whose state-owned industries can fast-track military exports in ways that we cannot and would never want to in many cases.

As Beijing and Moscow work to expand their share of the worlds weapons market, they attract other countries into their security networks, challenge the United States efforts to cultivate relationships, and complicate the future operating environment at the same time.

READ MORE:Trump official warns China plans to dominate next century as conflict fears soar

In order to boost the US ability to compete against China and Russia, Mr Esper said the defence department could reform with a strategic enterprise approach to weapons sales, after allied countries have attacked the US system as too slow, opaque and complicated.

He suggested this would include early exportability for critical weapons systems and a prioritisation of countries that are needed to keep or capture key markets.

The defence department currently has a system that will track the most important cases moving along the process to ensure our partners get the equipment and systems they need, when they need them, according to Mr Esper.

He added: Moreover, it will prioritise cases that enhance lethality and interoperability with the US, enable the domestic industrial base, and deny market space to China and Russia.

In 2019, the US sold over $55 billion in weapons and arms for the second year in a row, with majority of those being new contracts with foreign countries.

It comes as the US has already began striking deals with countries in the South China Sea, including Taiwan and the Philippines, to counter Beijings efforts in the region.

So far this year, the US has approved the sale of 66 F-16 fighter jets to Taiwan for around $8 billion.

The Trump administration has also fast-tracked three more arms deal proposals with Taiwan, offering the island country anti-aircraft weapons and other advanced weaponry.

The Taiwan arms deals follow China carrying out a simulated invasion exercise in a grim warning to the island country.

China hit back at the US for Mr Espers new arms deal strategy, calling it a serious strategic misjudgement.

Zhao Lijian, Chinas foreign ministry spokesman, claimed the US was wrong to define Beijing as a rival and claimed they were sending resources to the wrong areas.

Beijing also attacked the US for its obsolete Cold War mindset and zero-sum mindset, and called for diplomatic discussions.

It also follows the US failing to agree new terms for the last remaining nuclear treaty with Russia.

The New START programme is set to expire in February, with both Washington and Moscow refusing to budge on terms for renewal.

Vladimir Putin has expressed his willingness to renew the treaty on the condition no new limits are introduced on the amount of nuclear warheads Russia can make, which Washington regarded as a non-starter.

White House national security adviser Robert O'Brien said in reply: The United States made every effort. It is disappointing that the Russian Federation backtracked on an agreement covering all nuclear warheads for the first time.

End of the world: Conspiracy theorists say Doomsday and WW3 is COMING – claim – Daily Express

Posted: July 21, 2020 at 11:45 am

Doomsdayers are back on the end of the world prophecy, after analysing signs of the Bible. Some conspiracy theorists are saying the signs of the end times were written in the Bible, and now they are coming to fruition.

Once such sign is the emergence of a global pandemic like coronavirus, which would threaten all life, which Christian website End Times Truth says was spoken of in the Bible.

End Times said: The prophets saw a time of tremendous upheaval and destruction just before the end of this age.

"Some of them predicted that fire would consume all the works of man, while others said it would be a time of thick clouds and darkness.

"Jesus predicted that immediately before He returns the world would experience a time of trouble unparalleled in history where all life would be threatened.

Another sign which is spoken of is a world war, with End Times Truth predicting a likely war which will end in Israel, where Armageddon will take place.

The website said: "The prophets saw a time of tremendous upheaval and destruction just before the end of this age.

"Some of them predicted that fire would consume all the works of man, while others said it would be a time of thick clouds and darkness.

"Jesus predicted that immediately before He returns the world would experience a time of trouble unparalleled in history where all life would be threatened.

"In the Bible, this time is called the Great Tribulation. The prophets predicted that it would start with a war in the Middle East and lead to a global battle.

READ MORE:End of the world: Religions merging a sign of the coming Antichrist

"People today call this World War III, and it ends with a frightening nuclear exchange, which will devastate the world."

Ultimate, the End Times Truth says the end is very near, although there is little - or no - evidence this is the case.

The website said: "The recent fulfilment of End Times Biblical prophecy proves that we are now living in the Last Days.

"Predictions made thousands of years ago are coming true in our generation as never before. This means that the Return of Christ is drawing near, and there is not much time left before judgement comes.

"The current world system of evil is about to end in a fiery conflagration, and a spectacular new world of peace will be set up in its place by the Lord himself."

WW3 warning: Japan planning rapid increase in armed forces to combat China’s aggression – Daily Express

Posted: at 11:45 am

Tokyo revealed it is considering a huge increase to its defence capabilities as it accused China of pushing territorial claims amid growing tensions in the region. The East Asia nation released its annual defence review, where said Beijing has been pushing its territorial claims amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The nation said it suspected China of spreading propaganda and disinformation as it provides medical aid to nations fighting COVID-19.

In a defence white paper approved by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's government, Japan said China "is continuing to attempt to alter the status quo in the East China Sea and the South China Sea.

The white paper said: Japan must strengthen its defence capability at speeds that are fundamentally different from the past.

China has relentlessly continued unilateral attempts to change the status quo by coercion in the sea area around the Senkaku islands, leading to a grave matter of concern.

The white paper described "relentless" intrusions in waters around a group of islets claimed by both nations in the East China Sea, known as the Senkaku in Japan and the Diaoyu in China.

In the South China Sea, Japan said Beijing was asserting territorial claims by establishing administrative districts around disputed islands, that forced countries distracted by the coronavirus outbreak to respond.

READ MORE:China backlash: Beijing ready to PUNISH Boris Johnson

Japan sees China as a longer-term and more serious threat than nuclear-armed North Korea.

Beijing now spends four times as much as Tokyo on defence as it builds a large modern military.

Japan's defence review also claimed China appeared to be responsible for "propaganda" and "disinformation" amid "social uncertainties and confusion" caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

Such disinformation included online claims that the coronavirus was brought to China by a US military member, or that Chinese herbal remedies could treat COVID-19, a defence ministry official said at a briefing.

Other threats faced by Japan include North Korea's ongoing development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles as well as a resurgence of military activity by Russia in the skies and waters in Japan, at times in joint drills with China, the defence review said.

China and Japan have historically had a difficult relationship.

However, in 2018, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged to deepen cooperation.

Mr Abe said: As major economic powers of the region, China and Japan should take the responsibility to play constructive roles in safeguarding peace, stability, development and prosperity of the region and the world.

The two met on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

Japan's attack against China echoes similar criticisms made by the US and comes as tension in the region increases as Beijing and Washington conduct separate military drills in the resource-rich South China Sea and as relations between the world's two largest economies deteriorated.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday rejected China's disputed claims to offshore resources in most of the South China Sea, saying they were "completely unlawful".

Beijing insists its intentions in the waterway, through which around $3trillion of global trade passes each year, are peaceful.

Big Brother Evictees Slam Fame-Hungry Housos Who Plan To Start ‘WW3’ At The Live Eviction – Pedestrian TV

Posted: at 11:45 am

The Big Brother finale is right around the corner and all your fave former Housemates have just touched down in Sydney in honour of the blessed event.

But not all of the Housemates are quite so happy to see each other as theres a rumour that certain members of the team plan on causing a scene at the live finale.

The most recently evicted contender Sarah McDougal has just thrown some shade at her peers and the tea is extra tasty.

I think some of the people who left earlier on in the series are going to try and blow it up to get their 10-seconds of fame, she told Daily Mail Australia.

Sarah was evicted in last nights episode. (Credit: Seven)

The army cadet said shes trying to roll with the punches. If someone has something to say, Ill definitely say something back. Im just keen to celebrate the final three.

She went on to diss the fame-hungry Housemates who she believes never had an impact on the game.

I think the only people hoping it blows up never had an impact on the game and theyre just trying to get back in the spotlight for their 20-seconds, she said.

Especially in the environment we were in, some people thought they would become more of a household name than it actually did become.

I would be disappointed if people went to the finale with the sole expectation to start drama, because its all in the past and were all adults, she concluded.

Its one or two people that are starting all this drama and its solely for them to get their name back out there, she said, adding that it was so frustrating for her.

Meanwhile, Kieran Davidson told the publication that he reckons World War Three will break out at the live finale.

He claimed tensions had been high between some housemates after a secret mole leaked private messages from a group chat between the cast.

I still speak with everyone, Im quite a social person, but it will be very different to see how it all plays out [for everyone else] at the finale, Kieran said.

The live finale is set for Wednesday night.

WW3 threat erupts on EU border: Greece readies for war as fears of Turkish ‘invasion’ grow – Express.co.uk

Posted: June 13, 2020 at 1:04 am

Greek military commanders have carried out a series of intense military drills amid an escalation of tensions with Turkey. On Friday, Greek Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos accused Istanbul of aggressive behaviour, claiming Athens was ready to defend itself against Turkey by any means necessary. The EUs top diplomat Josep Borrell also intervened this week, as he urged Turkey to respect the sovereignty of Greece.

Tensions have sky-rocketed in recent days after Turkey announced that the country will begin drilling for oil and gas inside Greeces maritime borders in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Greece has hit back at this move and put its armed forces on alert for a military conflict with Turkey.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent a letter to the European Union, stating that this move would lead to a Turkish-European crisis.

Mr Panagiotopoulos told TV reporters on Friday: Of course Turkeys stance has recently been rather aggressive.

"I believe that the only way Greece can deal with it is, on one hand, to exhaust all its diplomatic weapons, and on the other, to cater for the increase of the deterrence power of the Armed Forces."

JUST IN:Merkel vs Trump: Germany rages at US President over troops pullout

Asked if these efforts include preparations for a military conflict, the defence minister said that Greece is preparing for all eventualities, including military engagement".

He added: We do not want this to happen. However, we are making it clear toward all directions that we will do what it takes to defend our sovereign rights to the greatest extent, if you catch my drift."

General Konstantinos Floros, who serves as the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, echoed the Defence Minister's claims.

He said the military are ready to perform their duties in defending Greece at a time when Turkey "is threatening to invade the Eastern Aegean islands, Crete and Western Thrace".

The EU's Borrell said Brussels was monitoring developments while being in close contact with Athens.

Relations between the two NATO members have been poor for centuries following several major wars between the two sides.

There have also been tensions over Cyprus, military confrontations in the Aegean Sea, and recent concerns that Turkey was deliberately threatening Europe with an influx of refugees on its borders.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a press conference in Ankara on Thursday where he announced his plans to proceed with oil exploration and drilling in maritime territories that are part of Greece.

Earlier this week, National Security Advisor Vice Admiral Alexandros Diakopoulos warned that Greece was ready to react militarily if Ankara violated its waters, but added that the government currently believes that such a thing will not be needed.

He added: "Of course, Turkey knows that it does not have international law on its side, and that is why it is trying to bring our country into a purely political debate."

The new international accord has been sealed in order to facilitate military exchanges and exercises in the Indo-Pacific region. The landmark treaty also allows military ships and aircraft to refuel and access maintenance facilities.

The agreement - known as the Mutual Logistics Support Agreement - was reached during a virtual summit between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison.

It had been the first time the Indian Prime Minister held virtual discussions with a foreign leader since the global pandemic began.

Upon announcing the agreement, Prime Minister Modi appeared to take a swipe at Beijing following weeks of conflict at the disputed border.

Mr Modi said: "We share democratic values, the rule of law, freedoms, and respect for international institutions.

When these are being challenged, we need to strengthen our cooperation."

Mr Morrison added: "It is time for our relationship to grow broader and deeper.

Relations between India and China continue to be strained with thousands of unarmed troops locked in a standoff along the 2,000 mile-long border.

According to Indian security officials Beijing forces intruded into Indian territory along the western Himalayas something China denies.

Tensions have also escalated over Indias plan to construct a road near the Galwan valley which is regarded as a disputed region.

Meanwhile India continue to strengthen ties with the US and Prime Minister Modi held talks with US President Donald Trump on Tuesday.

It is understood the two world leaders discussed "the situation on the India-China border and Mr Trump reportedly offered to help Delhi.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has downplayed tensions and insisted the region remains stable and controllable but warned against intervention from a "third party".

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said: "At present, the overall situation in the China-India border areas is stable and controllable.

"On border-related issues, there have been sound mechanisms and channels of communication between China and India, and the two sides are capable of properly resolving relevant issues through dialogue and consultation.

WW3 nuclear missile warning: North Korean event would ‘FORCE the terrified US’ to invade – Express.co.uk

Posted: May 24, 2020 at 3:10 pm

Rumours of the death of Kim Jong-Un in late April sparked many questions as to how the US would react if this information was verified. North Korea has since insisted their leader is alive and well despite continuous speculation regarding the dictator's absence from the public eye. Asia politics expert and author Gordon Chang warned the US may have its hand forced into invading North Korea if civil unrest followed in the country after the death of its leader.

Mr Chang argued if nuclear weapons became divided among warring factions in North Korea following the death of Kim, the US may be forced to intervene.

He added this could cause a major conflict as China is allied with and supports the North Korean regime.

Mr Chang told Express.co.uk: "What would force our hand? If we felt the control of North Korea's nuclear weapons was in doubt.

"That is the one thing that would get us to try to secure those nukes."

DON'T MISS:WW3 warning: China secretly using North Korea as weapon against the US

Mr Chang explained that the US does not have a specific leader it would be warier of, in the event of Kim Jong-un's death.

He insisted the conflict within the country would prove to be more alarming for the US and force them to take action.

He said: "I think it is more a question of no leaders in North Korea.

"If you had rival groups each having possession of nuclear weapons, that would frighten the c**p out of the US.

World War 3: US orders Iran to stay away from warships or risk ‘being interpreted a threat – Express.co.uk

Posted: at 3:10 pm

In what is clearly a direct message to Iran, the maritime alert warns "lawful defensive measures" will be taken against any craft that encroaches the 100m exclusion zone around US ships. The notice, issued by the Bahrain-based US Naval Forces Central Command, follows Mr Trumps threat last month to fire on any Iranian ships that harass Navy vessels.

Armed vessels approaching within 100 metres of a US Naval vessels may e interpreted as a threat

US Naval alert

It comes amid soaring tensions in the Gulf where Iranian gunboats have been approaching US warships at sea.

A US official said the new notice to mariners did not herald a change in the US militarys rules of engagement but was meant to serve as a reminder of its existing policy in the troubled region.

The Pentagon has previously stated Mr Trumps threat was designed to underscore the US Navys "right to self-defence".

The US President hit out after an incident last month in which 11 Iranian vessels came close to US Navy and Coast Guard ships in the Gulf in what the US military called "dangerous and provocative" behaviour.

The notice says: "US Naval forces are conducting routine operations in the region with a commitment to freedom of navigation and the free flow of maritime commerce.

"Due to recent events and in order to enhance safety, minimise ambiguity and reduce opportunities for miscalculation, all vessels are advised to maintain a safe distance of at least 100 metres from US Naval vessels in international waters/straits.

"Armed vessels approaching within 100 metres of a US Naval vessels may e interpreted as a threat and subject to lawful defensive measures.

"Mariners are reminded to operate in accordance with international law and with due regard for the safe navigation of other vessels.

"All vessels operating in the vicinity of US Naval vessels are advised to clearly commmunicate their intentions, respond to queries concerning course and speed, exercise principals of prudent seamanship as required under international law and remain at the maximum available distance from US Naval forces."

Iran has responded to the warning by insisting its navy will continue its "regular missions" in the Gulf.

An Iranian military official said: "The naval units of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman will continue their regular missions in accordance with professional principles as in the past."

Friction between Tehran and Washington has increased since 2018, when Mr Trump quit Iran's 2015 nuclear deal with six powers and reimposed sanctions on the country that have crippled its economy.

Iran's Supreme Leader this week warned all Americans will be expelled from Iraq and Syria as he stepped up his calls for US troops to be withdrawn from the Middle East.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said US actions in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria had led to them being hated, according to a transcript of a speech to students published on his website.

He said: "The Americans won't stay in Iraq and Syria and will be expelled."

A full-blown military conflict almost erupted when a US drone strike killed top Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad on January 3, prompting Tehran to retaliate with a missile barrage against a US base in Iraq days later.

Last month, US President Donald Trump said he had instructed the US Navy to fire on any Iranian ships that harass it at sea but said later he was not changing the military's rules of engagement.

The head of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards, Major General Hossein Salami, said the Islamic Republic would destroy US warships if its security was threatened in the Gulf.
