NJ Sports Betting Scene Will Likely Expand Again In 2022 – Play NJ

Posted: at 8:44 am

Here we are in early July, and the NJ online sports betting count currently stands at 21 apps. Call it a temporary number for this constantly revolving door.

Remember, in 2022, weve already seen four brands cease operations with NJ bettors. Two of them, TwinSpires Sportsbookand theScore Bet, called it quits earlier this summer.

Two other NJ online sportsbooks, 888andResorts, stopped taking wagers to make room for newcomers.

There is a list of other brands, including a few not available in any other US jurisdiction, hoping to launch this year. Everybody wants a piece of the NFL betting action.

Yes, even in this fierce NJ market thats dominated by the likes of FanDuel,DraftKings, BetMGM,CaesarsandBarstool.

Here is a closer look at the list of companies looking to get a piece of the NJ online sports betting action.

As far as how many of them will actually launch in 2022, well set the line at 2.5 apps. Keep in mind the list below is in no particular order.

Back in February,Resorts Digital Gaming (the online arm of Resorts Atlantic City) sent out a press release announcing Resorts online sportsbook would stop taking bets. Here we are several months later, and there are still a lot of questions surrounding the decision.

Who is replacing Resorts (the online app, not the Atlantic City casino)?

The original announcement generated a little intrigue with the wording set to sign a deal that will allow an exciting sports betting brand, new to the USA.

As of last week, there is still no official word regarding who it is. PlayNJreached out to RDG for an update, but no additional details are available, at least publicly.

So since the case of the mystery sports betting partner remains unsolved, it seems unlikely this new brand will be ready for an NFL week 1 launch.

Sporttrade will make its US debut this year in the Garden State. According to PlayNJ sources, the app remains on target to launch for the beginning of football season.

Whether that will be August or September is TBD.

Whenever it happens, bettors will experience a different sports betting experience. Instead of taking the Philadelphia EaglesorNew York Giantsmoneyline, gamblers will trade sports bets like they would trade shares of DraftKings or Caesars Entertainment.

Being that NFL training camps will be opening later this month, expect more details regarding Sporttrade launch plans soon.

If we are looking at things from an NJ sports betting revenue perspective, the status of Bally Bet is pretty big. Its no secret that most NJ sports bets are placed via mobile devices.

Guess whichAtlantic Citycasino does not have a true NJ sports betting app operating under its license?

That would beBallys Atlantic City.

Right now, vie.gg an e-sports betting platform, is the lone skin operating under Ballys AC license.

TheBally Casinoapp is live, so expanding the offering with an NJ online sportsbook is the next logical step as it would create cross-selling opportunities. Now that the Bally Bet app is live in New York, New Jersey plans should be coming into focus.

If you visit the Fubo Sportsbook website, the words coming soon appear. The exact date, even the month, is not included.

However, a little digging on theNew Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement website may reveal that coming soon could mean in time for NFL and college football seasons. The most recent list of DGE petitions includes the following blurb:

Joint Petition of Harrahs Atlantic City Operating Company, LLC d/b/a Harrahs Resort Atlantic City, Caesars Interactive Entertainment New Jersey, LLC and Fubo Gaming Inc. for Permission to Conduct a Business Transaction.

This doesnt mean anything is happening this week or next. However, dont be surprised if details regarding Fubo Sportsbook testing period or soft launch are announced soon.

Continue checking PlayNJfor updates.

Like Sporttrade mentioned above,Prophet Exchangeis different as it will operate as a peer-to-peer sports betting exchange.

This start-up company has a market access partnership withCaesars Entertainment. The New Jersey and Indiana markets are first in line. Once its live, gamblers will set prices for others to bet on or make wagers based on prices currently available.

Other than basic information, Prophet Exchange has been relatively quiet publicly regarding its plans.

MaximBethas its market access deal in place with Caesars Entertainment. But it doesnt mean the brand will be available to NJ sports bettors anytime soon.

Actually, parent company Carousel Grouphas New Jersey on its list of future states. Plans call for Indiana, Iowa and Ontario launches to take place first. Should everything stay on schedule, New Jerseyans could be placing bets before 2022 ends.

Once MaximBet is available, count on seeing Nikki Minajpromos. Yes, the pop icon has signed with the company as an investor, advisor and global ambassador of the sports betting lifestyle brand.

This could be the most intriguing name out of all the brands mentioned here. For one, theBetFanaticsapp is not available in any market yet. At the same time,Fanaticsis a company people outside of the NJ sports betting world know extremely well.

The fact thatCEO Michael Rubinannounced onTwitter that he is selling his stake in the Philadelphia 76ers andNew Jersey Devils due to a soon-to-launch sports betting operation, means the BetFanatics plans are beyond rumors at this point.

If the reports of Fanatics buying Tipico Sportsbookturn out to be true, BetFanatics would only need to worry about rebranding and not building a platform from scratch. With Tipico already operating in NJ, a BetFanatics NJ launch could happen sooner rather than later, once the potential deal closes.

Well be watching this news closely.

Those who have been following NJ sports betting from the beginning, likely remember 888sport as one of the originals.

However, in December, parent company 888 Holdings made the decision to stop taking sports bets. Instead of exiting the market, the move is simply a step back, setting the stage for something bigger relaunching asSI Sportsbook.

When the news broke, John Atkinson, director of business development at 888 Holdings, confirmed the future plans:

As part of our strategic partnership with Sports Illustrated, we can confirm that we have closed 888sport.com in New Jersey as we prepare for SI Sportsbooks launch in the market.

As of now, Colorado remains the only market where the app is available. The Garden State being next seems like a logical next step.

Now that theScore Bet is no longer taking bets in New Jersey (and the entire country), Monmouth Parkhas an opening for a third online skin.

Caesars SportsbookandSugarHouse, the racetracks other two partners, are staying put. So dont expect Monmouths numbers to take a significant hit. PlayNJ analysts estimate that theScore Bet accounts for likely 0.5% of the market share.

Names likeBlueBet Sportsbook,Circa SportsandBetfredare just a few of the companies still sitting on the NJ online sportsbook sidelines. And none of them have announced NJ market access deals. Should one of them decide to take advantage of this opening, it will take time to finalize a deal and get through the regulatory process.

Sure, something could still happen later this year. However, next year seems more realistic.

Sports betting in Georgia: When it will be legalized, how to bet online, where to find picks, best promos – CBS Sports

Posted: June 29, 2022 at 12:30 am

With the industry sweeping the country, sports fans in Georgia are wondering when Georgia sports betting will materialize. Georgia mobile sports betting won't debut in Georgia this year because the state legislature ended its session before a bill could be voted on. However, experts believe Georgia sportsbooks will still be legalized at some point in the future. Sports fans in the Peach State love their teams, so once Georgia mobile sports betting is legalized, it is bound to be very popular.

If Georgia online sportsbooks get the go-ahead, Georgia sportsbook sign-up offers and online sportsbook promotion codes could be a huge hit with first-time bettors. As exciting as it sounds, it can also be overwhelming for new bettors to learn all the betting styles and sports betting terms. Now is the perfect time to brush up on sports betting terminology with this helpful guide from SportsLine so you can wager like a pro if Georgia legalizes online sports betting.

There are several ways you can make sports wagers both online and in retail sportsbooks and plenty of bet types you'll want to familiarize yourself with.

Parlay: Parlays are popular because they offer sports bettors a chance to win big with a minimal investment, and they are exciting because the risk is higher. Parlays involve the selection of two or more propositions on a single wager, and all of the teams must win for the bet to become a winner. For example, if you pick all five California pro baseball teams on a parlay, then all five teams have to win for the bet to be a winner.

Teaser: This method pays lower odds than a parlay, but remains popular because handicappers still find them profitable. Teasers are a variation of point-spread betting in which they allow the bettor to increase the point value of their selected team. For example, let's say both of Los Angeles's football teams are seven-point favorites and you think they will win their games, but you are unsure if they will cover the spread. Using a six-point teaser will drop each team to a one-point favorite, meaning they only need to win by two points for your bet to be a winner.

Futures: Looking ahead to the next football season? Place a futures bet, which is when you wager on a sporting event or season well in the future. The pro football schedule has been released for next season, so football futures are about to be very popular. If Georgia online sports betting was legal, you could check out when rival teams like New Orleans will be in town to take on Atlanta.

Sports betting in Texas: When it will be legalized, how to bet online, where to find picks, betting promos – CBS Sports

Posted: at 12:30 am

There are now 30 states that have online sports betting, and Texas sports betting could come to fruition soon. The most recent push to legalize Texas mobile sports betting was halted in 2021, but now more experts than ever believe Texas sports books could be legalized in 2023. There is even one candidate for governor who said he will back sports betting in Texas if he is elected. If online sportsbooks are legalized in the Lone Star State, it would compete with New York as the largest state to have legal online sports betting. Texans love their sports teams, so there is no doubt that a Texas sportsbook promo code could be very successful.

Before Texas online sportsbooks get the go-ahead, new bettors should be familiar with common online sportsbook terminology. Here is a guide to sports betting terms from our friends at SportsLine that will help you get ready in case Texas online sportsbooks become a reality.

There are several ways you can make sports wagers both online and in retail sportsbooks and plenty of bet types you'll want to familiarize yourself with.

Outright: This is a popular kind of bet because it is easy to place and doesn't involve multiple sides or handicapped points. With an outright bet, the bettor picks which athlete will win an entire event. This is a very popular betting method for sports like pro golf where single athletes compete against one another. Outright betting can also be used for title fights or for car races, which are in full force during the summer.

Futures: Looking ahead to the next football season? You can place a futures bet, which is when you wager on a sporting event or season well in the future. The pro football schedule has been released for next season, so football futures are about to be very popular. Now is the perfect time to check out when rival teams like Philadelphia will be in Texas to take on Dallas's football team and think about which football futures bet you'd make.

Push: Simply put, a push is a tie from a betting perspective when neither team can cover the spread. For example, if Dallas has closed as a three-point favorite against San Francisco and then wins the game 27-24, neither team covers the spread and it is considered a push. When this happens, all bets on the spread are returned.

If you're looking for the best values on the board in Texas or elsewhere, be sure to check out SportsLine, which specializes in Vegas picks, DFS advice and season-long fantasy sports projections.

North Carolina sports betting: Retail live, online on the way – New York Post

Posted: at 12:30 am

Commercial Content, 21+

Sports bettingis legal inNorth Carolina, with two retail sportsbooks open in the state. Additionally, aSenatebill to allow online sports betting is moving through the NC Legislature.

Entering daily fantasy sports competitions is a legal practice in North Carolina. The state legislature did not pass specific legislation that regulates and taxes DFS operations, however, it has not moved to outlaw the contests either.

That means the popular sports fantasy games offered by DFS operators like FanDuel and DraftKings can be played within the state of North Carolina.

This bodes well for the very possible legalization of online and mobile sports wagering in the Tar Heel State.

North Carolina falls in line with many southern American states, in that it adopts a rather cautious and conservative stance about most forms of gambling.

For example, there are no casinos outside of the three tribal locations. With this in mind it was something of a surprise when the North Carolina authorities moved forward with retail sports betting at two of the states casinos.

Therefore, it would seem that sports betting has a fair chance to become legal in the state, with a bill to allow mobile wagering already passed the Senate and making progress in the House. The North Carolina Senate passed the bill in August of 2021. In November 2021, the House Commerce Committee rubber-stamped the bill. Despite these positive moves, the bill still has a few hurdles to leap over in committees within the full House.

Observers with a glass-half-full attitude expect that this bill will eventually get through to become law.

Although Carolinians cannot legally place sports wagers online, there are neighboring states where regulated sports betting of this nature is in place. As it stands, three of North Carolinas bordering states have legalized online sports betting.

Virginia online sports bettingis legal and thriving which has surprised a few. Virginia is home to12 sportsbook appsless than a year after the first books appeared in January 2021 and that number is not capped.

West Virginia was actually one of the quicker states out of the blocks nationwide. West Virginia sportsbooks have been accepting wagers since August 2018 and there are currently six online sports betting apps operating in WV.

Tennessee launched online sports betting inNovember 2020 and online sports betting remains the only way to place wagers legally in the state. There are currently nine sportsbook apps vying for positions in the Volunteer State.

Yes, North Carolina sports betting is legal at two different tribal casinos, both with retail sportsbooks on the premises.

Right now, there is no legal online sports betting in North Carolina. However, a bill passed by the states Senate is currently progressing through the House.

Yes, you can play both FanDuel and DraftKings daily fantasy games in the Tar Heel State.

Caesars Sportsbook is already live in North Carolina. Both of the states existing retail sportsbooks on tribal land are Caesars operations.

While there could be up to a dozen sportsbooks welcomed into the Tar Heel State, the most likely candidates come from some of the biggest names. Caesars is likely to build on its current retail presence, with power couple FanDuel and DraftKings also firmly in the frame.

The bill passed in 2018 (SB688) creates the possibility of 10 to 12 online sportsbooks opening in the Tar Heels State.

Using other legalized states as guidance as to how sports betting has proceeded in for online sportsbooks elsewhere, below is a list of the likeliest to launch in North Carolina:

Caesars: Caesars Sportsbook is already live in North Carolina. Both of the states existing retail sportsbooks on tribal land are Caesars operations.

BetMGM: BetMGM has big pulling power across the country. Already operating in neighboring Tennessee and Virginia, BetMGM is likely the sportsbook of choice for a large percentage of Tar Heel State residents and visitors already.

DraftKings: DraftKings is already present in North Carolina as a daily fantasy sports provider and its exceptional sportsbook offering seems a dead cert if NC opens up. In fact, there are very few sports betting states in which DraftKings is not part of the market, given its universal popularity.

FanDuel: Talking of popular, any such move by DraftKings is almost certain to be matched by its DFS competitor. FanDuel is a prime candidate to be part of any online future fort North Carolina sports betting. FanDuel is already active in the Tar Heel State as a major DFS provider and is usually one of the first in the door when a new state opens to online sports betting.

Yes, retail sports betting is legal in the Tar Heel State. Bettors can legally place wagers at two separate Caesars sportsbooks located at tribal casinos.

In April, a survey from WRAL News showed that there is quite a strong will to legalize online sports betting in North Carolina, with 52% of those asked wanting it to happen.

Meanwhile, March Madness may well have had a positive bearing on the proposed bill. Supporters of the SB 688 bill which was passed in August 2021 will have a strong argument for legalization after the state missed out on taxes from legal mobile betting when the University of North Carolinas basketball team made the final.

If passed by the House, SB 688 would tax online betting revenue at 8%. All eyes will turn to the next legislative session which starts May 18 and runs through June 30, 2022. At this point, its still a waiting game for any movement on online sports betting in the North Carolina Assembly.

It didnt take long at all for the North Carolina legislature to recognize the potential revenues involved in legalizing sports betting.

Soon after the landmark repeal of PASPA in 2018, the law was passed to enable the Cherokee tribes two licensed casinos to install retail sportsbooks on their premises.

As well as the Harrahs Cherokee Casino Resort and Harrahs Cherokee Valley River located in the Tar Heel State, a third tribal casino, Catawba Two Kings, is planning to open a sportsbook of its own.

Online sports betting is still a very real possibility in North Carolina as well. The August 21 bill that was passed by the Senate is awaiting committee rulings in the house. These committees can meet again in May 2022 at the earliest.

Given the normally slow pace of legislation, North Carolinians will likely have to wait until 2023 at the earliest to place a legal online sports bet in the state.

The city of Charlotte is the center of pro sports, while the wider state boasts major league representation in four of the USs big five sports. Baseball is the one to let the side down. Unfortunately, there is only one national championship to share between those pro teams, thanks to the Carolina Hurricanes 2006 Stanley Cup triumph.

The true sporting pride of the Tar Heels State are the school whose college teams share the nickname. The University of North Carolina is the seventh most successful American school in NCAA Division 1 terms.

Duke University is also proudly repping on the basketball court with the Blue Devils being the fourth-winningest college basketball program of all-time.

The Panthers are still in their relative infancy for an NFL franchise, having only formed in 1995. In just their second season at footballs highest table, they got to within a game of the Super Bowl, losing the NFC Championship to eventual champions the Green Bay Packers. Such a positive start to life under coach Dom Capers was subsequently backed up by the next two men at the helm.

Both John Fox and his replacement, Ron Rivera, would take the Panthers to the Super Bowl in their respective stints. Fox presided over an agonizing 32-29 loss against the New England Patriots at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2003, while Riveras Cam Newton-inspired charges came up against a defensively robust Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50.

Newton cemented his reputation as one of the great rushing quarterbacks while plying his trade at the Bank of America Stadium. He remains the NFLs leading QB in rushing touchdowns and second overall in rushing yards.

A single wildcard post-season appearance since the 2015 Super Bowl represents a big downturn in fortunes for the Carolina franchise, whose fans will be hoping the 2022 Draft can swing the pendulum.

With a Stanley Cup win under the franchises belt, the Hurricanes could arguably claim to be the pride of the Tar Heel States pro sports teams.

The franchise spent a couple of decades in the colder climes of Connecticut before heading south to its current home in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1997.

Having rebranded as the Hurricanes (previously the Hartford Whalers) the team hit the ice running in their new PNC Arena home. A few years later in 2002, a deep run into the postseason saw the Hurricanes hit the national headlines for the first time, though faced with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Eastern Conference finals, few gave them a realistic chance.

Six games later the Hurricanes had defied the odds and were into the Stanley Cup finals, facing the Detroit Redwings. Although they forged a 1-0 lead, it wasnt to be, with the Redwings proving too strong as they roared back to win the next four.

Still, this experience was to stand the franchise in great stead when they forged their second chance at the big one in 2006. Once again defying the odds, the Canes turned in the best season in the franchises 34-year history, finishing the regular season with a 52-22-8 record.

This catapulted them into the postseason where they eventually faced down the Edmonton Oilers in one of the most thrilling and at controversial seven-game Stanley Cup wins of modern times.

The franchise may have switched names, ownership, and locations before settling back in North Carolina, but one thing has stayed consistent.

Sadly, for Hornets fans, thats an unwanted form of consistency. The franchise has not even made it as far as the conference finals since forming back in 1988. Out of the 30 NBA franchises, they rank 26th for wins-loss record overall in the league.

There have been some better periods than others and the 90s into the turn of the century must be regarded as the golden era in effect. There were regular playoff appearances, albeit the ceiling of achievement remained at the Conference semi-finals stage, as it still does to this day.

Not even the high-profile ownership of one Michael Jordan, who acquired majority ownership in 2010, has proved the catalyst to greater things for the North Carolina men.

2016 was the last time any postseason hoops were played at the Spectrum Center.

Having only formed in 2019, Charlottes freshest major league representative is too early in its lifespan to pass judgment.

However, in their inaugural campaign, the signs are already looking promising with Charlotte FC sitting one place off the playoffs with nine games played and a just one defeat on their record.

Of the hundreds of schools across the country, not many can rival the University of North Carolina for the strength and history of its athletics program.

Over the years, UNC and their Tar Heels teams have become one of the benchmarks for sporting achievement.

With widespread NCAA Division 1 representation in the major sports, only six schools sit above the University of North Carolina in the table of national championships.

Just this year, they made it all the way to the National Championship game at March Madness, only to lose narrowly to Kansas.

Although the University of North Carolina has set such a high bar for success, there are some other schools in the state vying for the top prizes.

Second to UNC in athletics status are the various teams of Duke University, with particular emphasis on their basketball teams.

The mens team is fourth all-time in wins across the NCAA Division 1. A huge part of that success is owed to one man, and one of the best coaches in history.

Mike Krzyzewski, more affectionately referred to as Coach K, served as the head coach at Duke University from 1980 to 2022. Over that time, he led the Blue Devils to five national titles, 13 Final Fours, 15 ACC tournament championships, and 13 ACC regular-season titles.

Just this season, Coach Ks swansong, saw the Blue Devils come so close to making that six by reaching the Final Four at March Madness.

Arkansas Sports Betting: Big names on the way – New York Post

Posted: at 12:30 am

Commercial content. 21+.

Legal online sports betting has just arrived in Arkansas, with the first bets being taken online by Southland Casino Racing in West Memphis. The market can now expect a big expansion as more sportsbooks go live in the Natural State.

Players are able to wager real money playing daily fantasy sports while they wait for legal online sports betting sites and apps to be rolled out. Playing on DFS sites has been legal in Arkansas since 2017, and so players are able to enjoy platforms such as DraftKings and FanDuel completely legally.

Online sports betting is now completely legal around Arkansas, with the first website that accepts bets being launched by Southland Casino Racing. This will soon be followed by legal online betting sites offered by the other two Arkansas casinos, the Saracen Casino Resort and Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort.

Currently, Southland only offers a desktop site for players to use their online sportsbooks. However, they hope to finalize and launch their mobile app within weeks.

Saracen expects to have its website open for business in time for the annual March Madness NCAA mens basketball tournament, with its app following quickly behind. Oaklawn Racing is slightly further behind in development and anticipates launching its legal online sports betting catalog in late spring or early summer.

Arkansas is following in the footsteps of three of its neighboring states who have already legalized sports betting.

Sports betting is completely legal in Arkansas, with the proposition to introduce legal sportsbooks to casinos in the Natural State passing as far back as November 2018. The first retail sportsbook was then opened by Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort in July 2019, followed by Saracen Casino in October 2019.

Online and mobile sports betting was approved in February 2022, with each physical sportsbook being granted two mobile sportsbook licenses. The first of these were launched in early March 2022, with Southland Casino and Saracen Casino being the first to market with desktop sites.

Control over legal sports betting in Arkansas is handled by the Arkansas Racing Commission, which oversees all gambling in the Natural State. They are tasked with ensuring all betting is done in a safe and fair way, along with authorizing licenses for sports betting operators.

You are now able to place sports bets online statewide in Arkansas thanks to the desktop sportsbook run by Southland Casino Racing. This will soon be followed by a mobile sports betting app, with Saracen Casino looking to launch their online sports betting options by the time March Madness tips off on 13th March.

This is on top of the legal retail sports betting options at Arkansas casinos. Southland Casino Racing, Saracen Casino, and Oaklawn Racing Casino. All three have sportsbook options for bettors on site.

The current age to legally place a bet on sports in Arkansas both online and at a casino sportsbook is 21 years old. There are no current plans to review this age restriction.

There are no restrictions on what sports you can bet on in Arkansas, meaning you are able to back the best of the action from across all of the best sports both domestically and from around the world.

This includes betting on in-state college sports. Unlike other states Arkansas does not have bans on in-state betting on Arkansas college sports, meaning you are free to back the University of Arkansas Razorbacks or Arkansas State University Red Wolves.

Southland Casino Racing were the first of Arkansas casinos to launch its online sports betting services. They offer their online site in conjunction with Betly, and hope to soon add a dedicated mobile betting app too.

The Southland sportsbook offers a big range of domestic and international sports to bet on, with plenty of lines on each game available meaning youll always be able to find the exact bet you want. There are also special profit-boosted lines for both regular bets as well as parlays, along with daily selected odds boosts.

New players to online betting with Southland Casino will receive a $250 risk free first bet, meaning that if your first bet loses your stake up to $250 will be refunded with free bets. These can then be put on other events, with any winnings paid out to you in cash.

The online sportsbook from Saracen Casino Resort was the second online sports betting option to launch in Arkansas, going live in May 2022. The casino aimed for a launch date before March Madness, but they were unable to do so.

The online sportsbook from Saracen follows their retail offering, with a huge selection of sports and lines available to bet on. There is a good selection of daily special bets and odds boosts available for online customers too.

Caesars are going to be one of the top online sportsbooks that will look to begin operating in Arkansas soon. Should they be granted access, players will find one of the best selections of rewards and promotions available on the market.

The Caesars name is one of the most respected and well-known in the entire gambling market. They bring the same levels of hospitality to their online players around the country as they do for those who visit them in their Las Vegas, NV home.

This is alongside a full selection of sports to bet on, including special daily bets and odds-boosted lines. There is also an easy-to-use one-game parlay builder for players who like to concentrate the action on a single big game.

Players in Arkansas can already access the DraftKings daily fantasy sports games. The site will no doubt be looking to add to this and obtain a license to bring their leading sportsbook to the Natural State as well.

Bettors on the DraftKings sportsbook will find an excellent breakdown for events, with a tab for statistics available for most games. This lets players see who is looking the most in form for each match, and goes alongside the longer analysis articles which DraftKings also publish to highlight each days best action.

There is a complete selection of both domestic and international sports available to bet on, with special parlays and odds boosts on some of the best action each day. There is also an easy-to-use one-game parlay builder which allows players to toggle the bets which can be combined.

Arkansas residents may already be familiar with FanDuel thanks to their leading legal daily fantasy sports games. However, FanDuel also has one of the best sportsbooks on the market and will likely look to obtain a license to offer it in the Natural State.

What makes FanDuel stand apart from its peers is the great value they offer its players. When lines are compared side by side from across the market, those offered by FanDuel often have a slightly better payout.

FanDuel offers a full selection of sports and futures on their sportsbook, along with regular promotions and odds boosted lines. There is also a quick and easy same-game parlay tool to help build up tickets for one game of action.

BetMGM has already stated that they would like to obtain a license to operate in Arkansas. This is great news for sports bettors in the Natural State as BetMGM has quickly become one of the leading online sportsbooks in the country.

There is a huge catalog of sports from around the country and world to bet on with BetMGM, with a deep selection of lines for each event. Thanks to the sleek design of both BetMGMs website and app, its easy to navigate the big selection of bets to find exactly the one you want.

There is also a daily selection of special parlays and enhanced Lions Boost lines. For players who prefer to play one-game parlays, there is an easy bet builder available on most games which makes the process quick and easy.

Retail sports betting has been legal in Arkansas since November 2018, with the first sportsbooks accepting bets in July 2019. There are currently three sports betting locations in Arkansas, with plans for a fourth with the new River Valley Casino.

The latest news for sports betting in Arkansas revolves around the gradual rollout of legal online sports betting. Currently, players only have one option, which is the desktop site offered by Southland Casino. This will soon change, though.

Southland hopes to have its mobile app live within weeks, while Saracen Casino is also aiming to have its online sports betting software online in time for March Madness on the 13th of March. Oaklawn Racing Casino is also planning to launch its online betting options, however not until early summer.

With each casino location being granted two mobile sports betting licenses there is hope that major national bookmakers will soon be able to form partnerships to operate. Among the forerunners here will bet BetMGM and DraftKings, who were a part of the consultation process.

The push to bring legal sports betting to Arkansas began in 2018 after the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PAPSA) was struck down by the Supreme Court. This allowed individual states to decide on their own sports betting laws.

The ballot to approve retail-only sports betting passed in November 2018, with the first retail sportsbook opening in July 2019 at Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort. This was followed up by the Saracen Casino opening a sportsbook kiosk in October 2019 and Southland Casino Racing in January 2020.

In December 2021 the framework for legal online sports betting was finally agreed upon, and this was duly approved in February 2022. The legislation granted two online sportsbook licenses each to the three casinos already operating in Arkansas.

Southland was the first to begin accepting legal online sports bets in March 2022, with Saracen expected to be the next to launch. With each casino being granted two licenses, the next step is expected to be having national bookmakers such as BetMGM and DraftKings form partnerships to operate in Arkansas.

Arkansas is not currently home to any professional sports teams, although its close proximity to Texas often draws fans towards the Lone Star State teams. However, the home state Arkansas Razorbacks gives the state plenty to cheer about in college sports.

With Dallas being less than 200 miles from the Arkansas state border, its no surprise that many fans in the Natural State follow the Dallas Cowboys as their NFL team of choice.

The Cowboys have long been known as Americas Team thanks to their huge popularity among fans who dont have a home market franchise. The success that the Cowboys have enjoyed on the field has no doubt helped fans gravitate towards them.

The Cowboys have won five Super Bowl championships, with their first two coming in 1971 and 1977 before winning a further three between 1992 and 1995. With franchise quarterback Dak Prescott finally secured with a long-term deal, the Cowboys will hope that another dominant spell is just around the corner.

The University of Arkansas Razorbacks may not be a national powerhouse, but they are still a constant bowl threat and sell out both of the stadiums they use throughout the year.

The Razorbacks havent won a national title since 1964, however the team is best known for some of the most long running rivalries in football. Their grudge with Ole Miss dates back to their first meeting in 1908, while their fight with Missouri goes back to 1906.

The Razorbacks have also picked up a number of new rivalries as the college system has evolved. There are also regular clashes against LSU, Texas, and Texas A&M for fans to cheer.

The Razorbacks mens basketball team had their glory years in the mid-nineties. They won the 1994 NCAA mens basketball tournament, and nearly pulled off a repeat after being runners-up in 1995 as well.

The team has always been a contender for March Madness, however, they have not had a run deep into the tournament until 2021. That year the Razorbacks made the Elite Eight, and will hopefully act as a sign of big improvements to come.

NFL hires David Highhill as first executive dedicated to sports betting business – ESPN

Posted: at 12:30 am

The NFL on Tuesday announced David Highhill as vice president, general manager of sports betting, the league's first position solely focused on overseeing its business in the legal sports betting industry.

Highhill, who has been with the NFL for 10 years, moves over from the corporate strategy group, where he led the league's go-to-market sports betting initiatives. In his new role, he'll be tasked with leading efforts to protect the integrity of the game from gambling-related harm, advance the league's brand and reputation, grow the value of the NFL's data and intellectual property and drive fan engagement globally.

In 2018, the United States Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992, the federal statute that had restricted regulated sports betting to primarily Nevada. Since the ruling, 30 states and the District of Columbia have launched legal betting, and five additional states have passed legislation.

"It's a growing market, it's grown a lot in the last three or four seasons," Highhill said. "What's ahead is the exciting part of the opportunity."

Highhill begins his new position in the early stages of the NFL's pivot on sports betting. Advertisements for sportsbooks aired during NFL games for the first time this last season. The league has also formed partnerships with multiple sports betting operators, and official data is being sold to bookmakers in the U.S.

In 2021, the Washington franchise was granted a sports betting license in Maryland.

However, Highhill said he does not foresee the league or teams directly operating a sportsbook.

"We're going to focus on serving fans and the games rather than becoming a sportsbook," Highhill told ESPN on Tuesday.

At the same time, the NFL remains wary of an oversaturation of betting content in its games and realizes that parts of its fan base are turned off by gambling.

"We know there is a profile of fans that are most interested and a profile of fans that are less interested," Highhill said. "So serving fans where they are is very important and that goes right alongside with supporting our relationship with the National Council on Problem Gambling and insuring that we take a leadership position on problem gambling."

Sports betting in California: When it will be legalized, how to bet online, where to get picks, better promos – CBS Sports

Posted: at 12:30 am

Summer is in full swing, but California sports fans are already looking to November so they can vote on measures that could bring California sports betting to their state. One potential measure will help launch legal California mobile sports betting, while another measure already on the ballot will allow California sports betting at Indian gaming casinos. Gambling at race tracks and at Indian gaming casinos is already legal, but if the new measures to pass legal California sports books could be launched as soon as summer 2023. Some experts believe sports betting in California could be even more popular than New York, where online sportsbooks launched in January 2022.

Until California online sports betting becomes a reality, bettors can head to the race track and take part in the sports betting in California the state has to offer now. They can also brush up on their sports-betting terms with this quick guide from our friends at SportsLine.

For example, let's say both of Los Angeles's football teams are seven-point favorites and you think they will win their games but you are unsure if they will cover the spread. Using a six-point teaser will drop each team to a singe-point favorite, meaning they only need to win by two points for your bet to be good.

Push: Simply put, a push is a tie from a betting perspective when neither team can cover the spread. For example, if Los Angeles' pro football team has closed as a three-point favorite against San Francisco and then wins the game 27-24, neither team covers the spread and it is considered a push. When this happens, all bets on the spread are returned.

Sports betting in Pennsylvania: Promo codes, newest promotions, legal apps, how to bet online in PA – CBS Sports

Pennsylvania sports betting has grown since it first launched in May 2019 to become one of the biggest markets in the country. With over $14 billion in betting handle coming in since being legalized, Pennsylvania sports books have brought in the third most money in the country behind only Nevada and New Jersey. Pennsylvanians are very passionate about their sports teams, so it's no surprise that a Pennsylvania sports book promo code could be so popular. Pennsylvania sports fans have plenty to wager on this time of year, with competitive baseball games happening every day and elite golf tournaments, title fights and car races happening almost every weekend. With so much going on, fans are no doubt taking advantage of the latest Pennsylvania mobile sports betting signup offers and unique online sportsbook promo codes.

If you are a first-time bettor at Pennsylvania online sportsbooks, learning all the best betting terms can be a little overwhelming. Here is a helpful guide to get you started so you can wager like a pro.

Here are several ways you can bet on sports in Pennsylvania from our friends at SportsLine:

Live betting: Pennsylvania online sportsbooks could let you wager on your favorite sports in real-time thanks to live in-game odds updates. With pro baseball season in full swing, you could wager on live-updated totals or even the outcome of the next at-bat. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia's pro baseball teams are playing very exciting baseball right now, so it's the perfect time to try your hand at live-betting.

Outright: An outright bet is one of the most popular and most simple wagers to place. With an outright bet, the bettor simply picks which athlete will win an entire event. Outright bets are particularly popular in pro golf, where you select one pro golfer to win an entire tournament. With the best pro golf competitions happening month, it is the perfect time to place your outright bet at a Pennsylvania online sportsbook.

Parlay: Parlays are popular because they offer sports bettors a chance to win big with a minimal investment, and they are exciting because the risk is higher. Parlays involve the selection of two or more propositions on a single wager, and all of the teams must win for the bet to become a winner. For example, if you pick five pro baseball teams on a parlay, then all five teams have to win for the bet to be a winner.

Bettor beware: The risk of public steam and insider trading in sports betting – New York Post

Posted: at 12:30 am

Commercial Content, 21+

Seeing everyones betslips on Paolo Banchero 16/1 to go No. 1 overall and want in on the action?

Of course! Everyone heard about bettors beating the books and proving ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski wrong last week.

Obscure markets have been the place where sharp bettors and inside traders make money on speculation.

But not so fast. Public steam may be ready to go off their rocker coming on the heels of a few victories against oddsmakers.

Just check out this wild line movement in just 30 minutes at FanDuel on the 2022 NBA Draft.

Anyone who got to their apps quick enough clearly won big. But is this solid enough to rely on going forward? Unlikely.

There is something about these betting markets that makes bettors believe that they are betting with an edge. The reality is thats not always the case and bettors should take these situations with an abundance of caution going forward.

Below we take a look at the recent victories, but also the losses and inevitable dangers involved with this practice.

2021: Drafts in the NFL and NBA are clearly a time that bettors with inside knowledge look to pounce. Aside from this years NBA draft, there is also the 2021 NFL Draft. The San Francisco 49ers were in the middle of a smokescreen game of which quarterback they would be taking at No. 3 overall.

On the day of the draft, Mac Jones was -200 and Trey Lance was +175 to go third.

Then came Pat McAfee on his podcast saying, Sources told me Mac Jones aint goin three. The public gobbled up that information and spit it right back out at the bookmakers. Betting Lance to go three from +175 to favorite status.

He would go on to be drafted by the 49ers and is expected to be the starting quarterback this season.

2022: As far as reporting goes, the consensus No. 1 pick went back and forth between Kayvon Thibodeaux and Aidan Hutchinson. No one had expected a third pass rusher, Travon Walker from Georgia, to enter the conversation.

Sure enough, he did. Per Fox Sports, Walker was +3000 on Sunday (even higher than Banchero!) to go No. 1 overall in that Thursdays draft. His numbers plummeted down to -162 by Tuesday and lower.

On Monday, Kyrie Irving and the Nets were in the midst of a public battle over a new contract.

With some speculation that Irving could take a $30 million pay cut out of spite and go to the Lakers, bettors flocked to their sports betting apps to bet on a new (potential) Big 3 of LeBron James, Irving and Anthony Davis in LA.

As of Tuesday morning, BetMGM Sportsbook moved the Lakers NBA Finals odds from +2200 to +1400, citing 11.2% of tickets and 12.8% of the handle on a team that outright missed the playoffs in 2021.

In some states usually just New Jersey, Colorado, and Illinois you are allowed to bet on arbitrary markets like Next team (X player) will play for.

This is unbelievable as the @DraftKings odds for Deandre Ayton joining the Nets continues to climb by the minute. Something has to be happening behind the scenes.

Heres the latest movement: +6000 +4000 +2200 +700 +500

With Irvings future in limbo up until opting into his contract Monday, bets came flying in on Deandrew Ayton to be a Net. The odds movement was pretty wild as it even got as low as +225 for Ayton to play in Brooklyn.

Bettors undoubtedly have no idea what Irving is thinking or intending on doing with his career, but that didnt stop them. Big money was likely lost here when Irving predictably took the most money with a return to the Nets, with Ayton is back to searching for a new team.

Lets also not forget that bettors can wager on Hollywood awards.

In New Jersey in 2018, bettors slammed wagers on the Academy Awards and director of The Favourite Yorgos Lanthimos. Based solely on rumor, the 45:1 longshot was steamed all the way to +500 before the odds were taken off the board.

The Action Networks Sean Zerillo cautioned against betting based on rumors:

PointsBet, for example, both tweeted that they had taken sharp action on Lanthimos, before later cautioning on the dangers of following steam.

The winner of the Best Director award would go on to be the initial steep favorite, Roma director Alfonso Cuarn.

There have been some victories, but that does not mean the next situation is where you unload your bankroll with the hope of making an easy buck.

In sports betting, you can learn from everything. But bettor beware, these cases are the exception, not the rule. Proceed with caution.
