Online sports betting is live in Connecticut – CTInsider – CT Insider

Posted: October 24, 2021 at 10:51 am

The states first legal online sports bets happened on Sept. 30 with a soft launch of the new gaming system. The Connecticut Lottery Corp., and Mohegan Sun both reported the first-ever bets on their online platforms to be $10 on the Major League Baseball playoff game between the Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves, which the Braves won 5-4. The lottery said its bettor picked the Brewers to win while Mohegan Sun didnt disclose which team its bettor selected.

For Foxwoods, the first online sports bet was on the NCAA football matchup between the Appalachian State Mountaineersand the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns, with the bettor placing a wager for Louisiana-Lafayette to cover the spread (+4.5 points) against Appalachian State.

According to the Connecticut Lottery, the top three bet on events in thefirst full day of online sports betting using PlaySugarHouseSportsbookwere the Houston Astros vs. Boston Red Sox game, theAtlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers game and theGolden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers game. The first bet after 6 a.m. on Tuesday was for $10 in favor of Ergi Kirkin to win against Raul Brancaccio at the Losinj Challenger in men's professional tennis.

As online gaming and sports betting take off in Connecticut, heres what to know about the latest addition to gaming in the state.

Nutmeggers ages 21 and older can place wagers on online casino games, as well as fantasy sports, professional sports and Olympic and international sports. E-sports and college sports do allow for wagers, but not if one of the participants is a Connecticut team playing in non-tournament event, according to the states gaming website.

As of Oct. 19, online wagering is offered through the Mohegan Tribe and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribes online gaming partners, according to the state, which include:

Additionally, the Department of Consumer Protection has approved more than 130 games for the FanDuel and DraftKing apps. Both tribes can also offer iCasino,or online casino games. The Connecticut Lottery also offers PlaySugarHouse for sports wagering.

Wagering may also take place in-person at either Mohegan Sun casino or Foxwoods Resort and Casino.

In 2018, the Supreme Court struck down the federal Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992, which kept states from allowing sports betting on NFL, MLB, NBA and college-level sports games, according to U.S. News and World Report. Before the act was overturned, U.S. News reports that several states fought to overturn the act, starting with New Jersey.

In Connecticut, launching sports betting and online gaming has hinged on the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes involvement. The two tribes have separate compacts, oragreements, with the state that date back to the 1990sspelling out the percentage of revenue the tribes would contribute to the state in exchange for the rights to gaming exclusivity in Connecticut.

For online gaming and sports betting to materialize in Connecticut, the state had to amend and establish new compacts with the tribes. With the new deal, Connecticut aims to generate tens of millions of dollars in new revenues from this emerging industry, while keeping the state competitive with gaming being offered or considered in neighboring states. Among its key provisions are an 18 percent tax rate for the first five years on new online commercial casino gaming, followed by a 20 percent rate for at least the next five years. There would be a 13.75 percent tax rate on sports wagering.

People wagering on the Connecticut sites must be physically located in Connecticut; GPS fencing keeps those from other states from placing bets in the state while they are in a location outside of Connecticut. Winnings earned as a result of gambling must be reported for tax reasons.

As for the state as a whole, it expects to draw in $30 million in the first year, eventually ramping up to an estimated $100 million a year, by taxing online sports betting at 13.75 percent, and online casino games at 18 percent, rising to 20 percent after five years.

The lottery will not pay a tax because all of its revenues after expenses move to the states general fund. The size of the cut and likely profits for the three online operators FanDuel, DraftKings and Rush Street Interactives is not public.

Separately, the lottery is setting up in-person locations for sports betting, in a partnership that includes a gaming operator and Sportech, which owns and operates off-track-betting locations around the state.

Connecticut Joins the Online Gambling Party, Poker Invited but Left at the Door – CardsChat.com

Posted: October 21, 2021 at 10:29 pm

October 21, 2021Latest Poker News

Connecticut joined the online gambling party this week with sports betting, casino, and slots games, but online poker players still have to wait before they can ante up online.

The Connecticut Lottery Corp., the Mohegan Tribe, and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe officials launched sites online gambling sites on Tuesday, bringing more than 130 digitalized games and sports betting to the states 2.4 million residents over the age of 21. Despite that, no player-vs.-player online poker sites were opened.

Although online poker is included in the largest gambling expansion residents have seen since tribes sued to be allowed to open brick-and-mortar casinos in the 90s, no online poker operators have yet stepped into one of the smallest markets in the country.

The Mohegan Sun is partnering with FanDuel to provide its online gaming offerings while Foxwoods, which is owned and operated by the Mashantucket Pequots, has partnered with DraftKings. DraftKings is trying to get into the online poker business by offering to buy partypokers parent company Entain for $20 billion. The Connecticut Lottery partners with Rush Street Interactive, which doesnt offer online poker.

This is an exciting moment for our state and our tribal partners, Governor Ned Lamont said in a press release. Connecticut has proven to be a leader when it comes to the gaming economy going back decades, and that legacy will continue with the launch of these new online options for all eligible residents.

The tribes obtained exclusive online gambling rights in the state for 25% of their slots revenue.

Focusing on sports betting and online casino games, particularly slots, is a good bet for gambling corporations. With the online gambling launch, Connecticut connected its residents to an industry thats expected to continue to grow significantly over the next half-decade.

According to Markets and Research, an investment research firm, the United States online gambling market was valued at $2.178. billion in 2020 and is projected to register a compound annual growth rate of 17.3% during the forecast period of 2021-2026.

Connecticut isnt the only state where online poker is legal, but games remain unavailable to its residents. West Virginia, another state with a small population, legalized online sportsbooks and casino gambling last summer, including online poker. Even so, none of the five casinos that paid $250,000 each for a five-year online gambling license has launched a poker site in the state where no more than five interactive licenses are available.

While online gambling operators in West Virginia dont have the will to open online poker rooms, they certainly have the means and expertise to do so. FanDuel, which partners with Greenbrier Casino to run its sportsbook, is owned by Flutter Entertainment, which also owns PokerStars.

Greenbrier also partners with BetMGM in West Virginia. Caesars, the owners of WSOP, runs Mountaineer Casinos online sportsbook, as well as online WSOP poker rooms in Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

Because every jurisdiction that currently allows online poker also requires operators to use geofencing to ensure that only players located within their state borders are allowed to play, that limits the available player pools and, ultimately, the number of games and tournaments that can run at any one time. In small states, such as Connecticut and West Virginia, these restrictions limit game selection for players and make it financially unviable for operators to offer online poker in these jurisdictions.

That situation could change, however, if West Virginia and Connecticut officials agree to compacting agreements with other jurisdictions that already allow online poker within their state borders, such as the agreement that allows New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware to combine their individual player pools together.

Until then, however, its likely that residents of Connecticut and West Virginia who want to play poker online will have to travel to nearby states like Pennsylvania and New Jersey if they want to ante up without setting foot in a live poker room.

The Best Metalhead Casinos Available – Metal Injection

Posted: at 10:29 pm

There are now hundreds of different online casinos available for intrepid gamblers to discover and themed casinos are now a pioneering niche within the larger online casino industry. A new metal and rock and roll online casino has just launched and is turning heads and starting conversations.

It is entirely possible that this new type of online casino will start a new venture in the online gambling industry, and we could see a wave of themed, niche, micro-casinos launching in the next few years. Regardless, metalheads, rockers, and even mods can now rejoice and enjoy an online casino-themed specifically for their interests.

Metalhead-themed games and slots

If you are a true metalhead, you might find that you want your online casino to correspond to your lifestyle, just as your clothes, favorite bar and overall aesthetic do. The good news is that there is an excellent metalhead casino available for true die-hard metal fans. Metal Casino is the worlds first heavy metal and rock and roll themed online casino and it is perfect for the rebels without a cause who are looking to shake and roll in style.

Metal Casino has an excellent VIP system that will make gamblers feel like they are slowly making their way backstage to the stars. Unsurprisingly, the majority of the games featured on Metal Casino have a rock and roll or metal themes. Gamblers can also enhance the excitement and fun of playing online casino games by playing classic rock and metal music while gaming.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about Metal Casino is the fact that it has a specific theme. It will be interesting to see whether or not the casino can capture enough market share to succeed in the industry as, prior to Metal Casino, online casinos have avoided themes, while game developers have relied heavily on slots. It is interesting to find an online casino which is focused entirely on a specific theme rather than a specific type of game.

Other games to try

If you like the sound of music- or metal-themed gambling but do not want to register for a new online casino, fret not because there are many slot games currently available which have a rock and roll theme. Gamblers who are looking for classic rock and roll themed games can enjoy the range of music-themed slots developed by NetEnt, including Motorhead, Megadeath, KISS, Guns and Roses and Jimi Hendrix themed games.

Those who are interested specifically in slots that are not focused on individual bands but instead on the overall metalhead aesthetic can enjoy games like Sabaton, Extended Wild, Ozzy Osbourne and Testament. Those who are particularly interested in the mildly satanic, spooky, gothic aesthetic can take it a step further and enjoy the wide range of different goth and horror slots.

Some of the top goth, unsettling, horror-themed slot games include Gothic Remembrance, Embrace of the Bloodsuckers 2, Nights of Dark Magic, Nightmares Kiss and the Beautiful and the Damned. Regardless of the online casino, gamblers are sure to find at least a few of these different titles and satisfy their longing for the dark, the brutal and the musical.

Finding your online casino niche

The online casino industry has grown exponentially over the course of the last 10 years and has essentially exploded in popularity during the last three years. There are now, depending on your geographical location, hundreds of different online casinos to choose from. In order to stand out from their peers in a competitive marketplace, online casinos are taking steps such as creating extensive game libraries, offering generous registration bonuses and investing in platform architecture.

The competitiveness of the online casino industry is a great benefit to gamblers, as a competitive, fragmented marketplace is always beneficial for consumers. Gamblers are now able to take advantage of excellent bonus offers and really shop around before deciding on the casino that they like the most.

On top of that, one of the most fun and interesting aspects of the competitive market is that there are now more niche online casinos than ever before. The fact that there are multiple online casinos that are designed to appeal to metalheads is a sign of just how specific many of these casinos are. This variety adds an element of fun, excitement and novelty to the world of online gambling.

If metal and rock and roll are not your cup of tea, you can be sure that other themed online casinos will soon be on the market to cater to your specific interests and tastes.

N.S. government still assessing possibility of online casino – CBC.ca

Posted: at 10:29 pm

Nova Scotia's finance minister says he's not made a final decision yet about whether the province will ante up for an online casino.

Allan MacMaster said the government's focus has been on health care and housing since being sworn in at the end of August and he needs more time to assess the proposal.

"We're a new government," he said in an interview at Province House. "We want to talk about these things."

Last February, the former Liberal government cleared the way for sanctioned online gambling in the province through the Atlantic Lottery Corporation. A similar website has already been set up in New Brunswick and the Crown corporation is looking to have sites in all four Atlantic provinces.

Gambling brings significant revenue to the province each year. Having a provincially operated website could be a new revenue source while also affording certain features that other gambling sites do not, said MacMaster.

"[Players are] not assured of payouts, God knows who they're gaming with on the internet and there's also no protections in place for people who may be going through a period where they are problem gaming," he said.

The lotterycorporation has said player protections would be built into the website. But MacMaster also noted prevailing concerns about gambling in general.

"There's always been debate over if you're going to have gambling, if the government is going to be offering it, what are you going to do to help those who might fall into problem gambling situations and the impact it would have on not only them but their families."

There are literally hundreds of online gambling sites that you can easily access. The important question is whether or not you can trust them with your money.

The online gambling sites in our list here have been selected after thorough checks and research to provide you with the best available options.

Consequently, we also feel that consumers should be well aware of the factors on which these gambling sites were chosen. It will help you understand the nitty-gritty of gambling and keep you alarmed in case of any issues or malpractice.

Probably the biggest concern of all online gamblers is whether or not the gambling site can be trusted. Look for a license or certification to prove a sites authenticity.

To obtain a license, there are a few requirements that the gaming site must meet. First, they need to provide fair gameplay and ensure all data provided to them is secure.

Users who have had the misfortune of opting for unlicensed online gambling sites know the serious perils one faces. Sub-standard security will almost inevitably lead to users losing money to financial scams.

Some consumers have also reported the theft of their banking account or personal information. Thus, we made it a point to remove any unlicensed platforms from our list.

One of the main factors in deriving if a gambling site is worth your time is the reviews by its users. Going through in-depth reviews can often give you a real picture of what one can expect.

Our take on the reviews is that many gambling sites treat their players poorly while the operation is unreliable. This makes it even more important to be wary of such sites.

There can be multiple ways of depositing funds. Some people may use PayPal, others Bitcoin. You must ensure the gambling site that you like supports your preferred method of payment.

Once you have checked the deposit options, look for the withdrawal ones too. You might find some of the options pretty limited, or they might require additional time to process.

As a player, you must, at all costs, look at the features and games supported by the website. If you have some popular games in mind, check whether they are available or not.

Additionally, check out the progressive slots, anonymous poker play, or other gameplay features that you might desire.

It is best to be aware of all the features and games available on the site to avoid wasting your time over a platform that isnt right for you.

Check out all bonus offers when registering for a site. You can find these by using different deposit methods or by putting in a higher amount. In either of these ways, you typically will be able to get a higher bonus.

On the other hand, you must check on the reverse and see the dollar limit on the bonus. You can also watch out for the bonuses and all promotions provided after the first deposit.

We expect our top five list answered a lot of questions you may have about online gambling providers, but weve curated some additional criteria for you to consider. Choosing the best gambling site for you could be a gamble in itself. These are some important aspects to keep in mind before you take the plunge.

The first and foremost aspect is security. This is important for all types of gambling, offline or online. You must ensure that gambling sites using real money have high-quality online security.

You can look for SSL, i.e., Secure Socket Layer protection, licenses from reputed gambling jurisdictions, or even RNGs, ie. random number generators to make sure there is fair gameplay on the site you use.

A lot of online gambling platforms show that they have licenses from relevant gambling jurisdictions. As far as these are concerned, they sometimes mean nothing more than a rubber stamp on paper. Try to look for a gambling site that has been regulated in Malta, Curacao, Gibraltar, the Isle of Man, or the U.K.

Most of the top gambling sites are a part of at least one third-party association. The good thing about these associations is that they check payouts, internal procedures and practices, and fair gaming.

These trusted organizations are ESSA, eCOGRA, the Gambling Commission, LGA, EGBP, TST, and gaming associates.

A random number generator is basic computer software that plays a major role in the fairness of players. RNG is an essential construct of any casino site and probably the main reason why games are fair.

RNG also makes online slots a lot of fun! You must look for a good RNG when deciding on the gambling site you want.

As they say, the more, the merrier. And this phrase works amazingly well with the entire concept of online gambling. The greatest of casinos have a huge variety of casino games.

These casino games include real money slots, roulette, video poker, blackjack, and casino classics. Now, as the number of games increases, making a choice also becomes tricky.

A lot of gambling websites average offering between 200 and 500 different game types. Each game has its features, rules, learning curves, odds, and payouts. Choosing a gambling site with a number of games will help you choose from a huge pool of options very conveniently.

There are several free casino games available on the internet. This is a good exercise for people who dont want to start investing with real money initially. Through such playing for free games, you can build your gambling skills and even find games that fit the best with your preferences plus choices.

One of the attractive features of the top gambling sites is the bonuses they offer. Best Casino bonuses help the player to enjoy the games they want for long. Moreover, it keeps your bankroll at the top, which is also really great, specifically when the need arises.

New Philippine tax on foreign gaming companies could deal another blow to office market – The Real Deal

A new tax on online gambling operators in the Philippines could drive up the nations already high office vacancy rate.

The tax, signed into law last month by President Rodrigo Duterte, may prompt foreign gambling outfits and Chinese-owned companies in particular to move elsewhere, according to Hong Kongs South China Morning Post. Vacancy rates may rise to 18 percent by the end of the year, the highest in 17 years, said Claro Cordero Jr., the local director of research at Cushmans.

The measure imposes a 5 percent tax on gross revenues of overseas-owned gaming companies, also known as Philippine offshore gaming operators, or Pogos. Foreigners employed by them must pay a 25 percent withholding tax. The nation is losing as much as 300 billion pesos ($59.2 million) a year to Pogos that move money overseas, according to local accounting firm Isla Lipana.

With the new and expanded tax regulations, both on the operations and employment of foreign nationals, Pogos may decide to locate in other jurisdictions, Cordero said.

Like many industries, Pogos have been hit hard by the pandemic. More than half the nations 60 registered Pogos have shuttered since it began. They occupy 3.4 million square feet of office space in metropolitan Manila, the capital, compared with 13.5 million in 20019, pushing vacancies to a 12-year high of 12.2 percent.

Improving relations between China, where online gambling is illegal, and the Philippines helped bring more Pogos to the nation. Yet a new administration after next years presidential elections could bring a new, less friendly leader, the Post reported.

Taxes are one of many factors making life expensive for Pogos, according to Michael McCullough, a managing director at KMC Savills. Its also important to note that the taxes are all above the line, he said. There are many bribes, kickbacks and red tape, which is also part of operating as a Pogo. The above board and below the table taxes are whats truly killing the Pogo industry in the Philippines.

Opinion: Reflecting On UIGEA At Its 15-Year Anniversary – Legal Sports Report

Posted: at 4:54 pm

We reached this week the 15th anniversary of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA.) in the United States.

In the last 15 years, a lot has changed in the world of online gambling. We now have not only legal online sports betting available in more than 20 states, but growing numbers of states are exploring legalizing broader forms of online gambling.

Much of the recent discussion around UIGEA has been focused on the statutes daily fantasy sports carve-out, which allowed DFS to grow into a nationwide phenomenon that in some ways tested the waters for legalized sports gambling in the years before the Supreme Court issued its decision in the Murphycase.

UIGEA was a reactionary response to the growth of online gambling following the rise of household access to the internet.

Efforts to ban internet gambling began in the mid-to-late 1990s when the Internet existed in something of a regulatory black hole, with uncertainty over how and who should regulate the space. Never one to shy away from regulating a space it does not fully understand, Congress tried initially to ban online gambling outright. However, the votes were not there to pass an outright ban.

While the impetus for UIGEA has been tied to a variety of factors, including uncertainty as to whether other federal gambling statutes like the Wire Act incorporated the Internet and speculation that some terrorist organizations were using online gambling sites to launder money, the reality is that a number of different factors probably combined to push for a ban on Internet gambling.

The statute makes reference to Internet gambling causing debt-collection problems and uncertainty over existing laws applying to the Internet as the findings justifying enactment.

However, a ban would not prove feasible. Instead, Congress concluded its near-decade-long effort to ban online gambling with a statute riddled with exceptions that did not even define illegal internet gambling. It instead made it illegal for payment processors or operators to knowingly allow for or accept funding of unlawful internet gambling operations. UIGEA effectively made it illegal to transmit or accept money in association with an illegal gambling operation.

UIGEA came into being only as a legislative rider to the unrelated SAFE Port Act.

Recently, UIGEA has been associated with the rise of daily fantasy sports. The statute, amongst its many carve-outs, held harmless fantasy sports contests that meet certain criteria from its definition of bets and wagers, or the activities that are prohibited.

Of course, in the late 90s and early 2000s, virtually no one conceived of the idea of playing fantasy sports over a shorter time horizon than a full season. But leave it to online gamblers to find a workaround, and they did.

Shortly, after the passage of UIGEA, daily fantasy sports would be created out of the mind of Kevin Bonnet, a poker blogger, who was forced to shift gears when UIGEA shut down the world of legal online poker in the United States.

The carve-out for fantasy sports would not really gain traction until FanDuel and DraftKings made big advertising strides on the scene beginning in 2014. With popularity growing in daily fantasy, lawmakers began to take notice, but the train had largely left the station on putting daily fantasy sports back in the box.

Even when some daily fantasy sports companies departed from the UIGEA carve-outs language, there did not appear to be much interest from the Department of Justice (though there were rumored grand juries in Florida, we still do not know what was the scope of those federal investigations.)

Despite being around for 15 years (though passed in 2006, the bill was not effective for several years), the statute has not generated a lengthy history of application against online gambling operations.

Indeed, the most prominent prosecutions under the statute came following the April 2011 indictments of the operators of several prominent poker sites. The sites ran into trouble because they were allegedly attempting to disguise deposits as other types of commercial transactions in order to thwart banking systems, which would automatically block payments to gambling sites.

Despite a few high-profile applications of the law, like other federal gambling laws, UIGEA prosecutions appear to be low priorities for the federal government.

Even before UIGEA came into effect, there were efforts to undo what the statute was about to do and replace it with sensible restrictions. However, the legislation introduced by then-Rep. Barney Frank went nowhere.

If history is any predictor of the future, we are likely to see one or two high-profile prosecutions under UIGEA over the next 15 years. However, the statute is so riddled with exceptions that it may be a less-desirable weapon for prosecutors than other federal statutes.

For all its deficiencies, UIGEA does a few things well. Most prominently, the statute clarifies the question of intermediate routing (where data passes through a state en route to a state where the activity is permissible.) However, even where UIGEA provides a useful clarification, the statutes rule of construction limits that interpretation to UIGEA alone, leaving the question open for other federal laws including the Wire Act.

Times have changed since UIGEA was passed. While deficient, the statute could be a useful tool to protect the legal and regulated market by targeting those who violate the statute and threaten to undermine the regulated operators in the emerging U.S. market.

NJ voters have these two statewide ballot questions to answer – NJ Spotlight

Posted: at 4:54 pm

One ballot question asks whether sports betting should be expanded to include collegiate teams and sporting events within NJ. Pictured: Rutgers quarterback Noah Vedral in NCAA football game against Michigan State, Oct. 9, 2021, in Piscataway.

New Jersey voters face two ballot questions when they vote this November, both asking them to rewrite the state Constitutions rules on legalized gambling.

The first is whether to expand the ability to bet on collegiate teams and sporting events in New Jersey; the law already allows betting on college sports events that take place outside the state. The ballot question is ultimately an extension of the law signed in 2018 that permits sports betting in casinos and racetracks but excludes any gambling involving New Jersey college teams and any collegiate sporting events in the state.

The second is whether to allow nonprofit groups that conduct games of chance like bingo or raffles to use the proceeds to fund their operations. Because wagering is enshrined in the state Constitution, any changes must be authorized by voters.

At the top of the Nov. 2 election is the choice for governor between Phil Murphy, the Democratic incumbent, and Republican Jack Ciattarelli. All 120 seats in the Legislature are also up for election, as are local offices.

College sports betting was not included in the original gambling legislation because lawmakers and others had concerns that student athletes may be subject to match-fixing if gambling was authorized. However, the NCAA recently adopted a policy allowing college athletes to receive compensation from endorsements and commercials following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that prevented the organization from barring that compensation. That change has lowered the risk of gamblings possible effect on athletic performance.

Another reason New Jersey lawmakers sought the change: the prospect of the tax revenue that could come from gambling on in-state college sports.

The state now charges an 8.5% tax for in-person betting and 13% for internet wagers. The nonpartisan Office of Legislative Services estimates that, if passed, this amendment will increase revenues to the state and some counties and municipalities as a result of the expansion of sports wagering, but it was unable to determine exactly how much revenue might come in. According to Bloomberg, casinos, racetracks and online gambling providers generated $302.7 million in tax collections for the state in 2020. Of that sum, about $50 million in tax revenue was generated from sports betting, according to data compiled by the state Division of Gaming Enforcement.

Sen. Vin Gopal (D-Monmouth), a primary sponsor of the resolution asking voters to make the change in November, credits his support to the tax revenue that would be generated as a result.

Sports betting generates a large tax revenue for New Jersey, and sports betting operations pay a 1.25 percent tax that goes to towns and counties, Gopal said. That is money that goes towards economic development, including road improvements, transportation and infrastructure, tourism, public safety, and properties located on or near the racetrack.

A specific source of revenue that lawmakers are hoping to capitalize on is the NCAA Mens Basketball Eastern Regional Tournament set to take place in Newark in 2025. Sen. Paul Sarlo (D-Bergen) has said that prohibiting gambling on an event of that size would be a missed opportunity for the state.

Some of the top teams in 2025, whoever they may be at that time, will be here. Im sure there will be a lot of activity throughout the country, and betting. We just felt it was not fitting for us to sit back and not be able to collect that revenue, Sarlo said.

But that may not be enough to convince New Jerseyans to pass the legislation. A recent poll from Stockton University indicates that voters are leaning against permitting gambling on college sports. The poll said 45% opposed the amendment, with 40% in support and 14% unsure. These results reflect a shift in public opinion from an earlier poll, in which only 25% of voters supported the proposal to expand sports betting, 26% were undecided and 49% were opposed, but does not indicate voters will approve the decision. The poll was conducted during the week of Sept. 17-25 and featured responses from 552 registered and likely voters who were interviewed by phone. The polls margin of error is +/- 4.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.

New Jerseyans have not always embraced all kinds of legal gambling, said John Froonjian, executive director of the William Hughes Center for Public Policy at Stockton University. In 1974, they voted against allowing casino gambling statewide, but two years later approved it while restricting it to Atlantic City. In 2016, voters rejected an expansion of casino gambling to north Jersey.

Voters have always been cautious about what forms of gambling they allow, Froonjian said.

In the case of this specific ballot question, the poll indicates that men ages 18-29 are most likely to vote in favor, while a majority of women and people ages 50 and older are more likely to oppose it, Froonjian said.

The question does not have universal support due to a lack of messaging, Froonjian said, adding, No one is advocating for why we should make this change.

Froonjian said Stockton plans to conduct another poll closer to November to get a more accurate representation of where New Jersey voters will stand on Election Day.

The second question on the ballot asks voters to allow certain organizations that can now legally conduct such games of chance as bingo or raffles to use the proceeds from the games to finance their operations.

Currently, nonprofit groups, including charitable, religious, fraternal and civic organizations, volunteer fire companies, and first aid or rescue squads must use the proceeds from any game of chance for charitable purposes.

If voters agree, the new amendment will allow the groups to direct proceeds from the games to their own operations. This privilege has already existed for veterans and senior citizens groups because of an approved ballot question in 2013.

The resolution to put the question before voters passed the Senate and Assembly unanimously.

Many non-profits have seen major financial set-backs over the last year, said Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez (D-Middlesex), one of the sponsors, after the resolution passed the Assembly last June. We have seen that allowing veterans and senior citizen groups to use the proceeds from bingo and raffles has helped them tremendously and it is time we expanded those benefits to more groups.

Linda Czipo, president and CEO of the Center for Non-Profits, spoke in favor of the ballot question at a Senate committee hearing in June 2021.

Many nonprofit organizations have been negatively impacted by the pandemic, and this law could help them stay afloat, she stated. The charitable community is incredibly important to the people of New Jersey in times of crisis.

Assemblyman Gordon Johnson (D-Bergen) said that not only would this help organizations, but also the more than 30,000 individuals employed by them.

These hard-working employees perform incredibly important jobs, and the pandemic has dramatically impacted these programs ability to function, he said. The net proceeds from game nights will provide much needed support for these organizations.

So far, no groups or committees have formed to support or oppose this second ballot question and there has been no public polling to show where voters stand on this matter.

Election Day is Nov. 2. Early voting will commence Oct. 23 and end Oct. 31. Mail-in ballots need to be postmarked or deposited into a drop box by 8 p.m. on Nov. 2.

Are you a Pennsylvania Lucker? Try These PA`s online gambling sites and Experience the Fortune’s Favour – Pennsylvanianewstoday.com

Online gambling became legal in the state of Pennsylvania in 2017. Ever since, Pennsylvanians have been enjoying their access to many licensed and legal gambling sites. When they feel like doing some gambling, they can simply hop onto one of the sites, pick one of their favorite games, make a wager and start betting. With many legal online casinos, some in-state and some outside of its borders, its no wonder that the interest keeps growing.

Did you know that, this year, Pennsylvania smashed its record for gambling revenue? A short while ago, the state regulators reported nearly $3.9 billion in the last fiscal year, making for a huge growth in one of the largest gambling states in the US.

Today, Pennsylvania is home to betting brands like Caesars, DraftKings, and BetMGM. Its a place where you can go online and find top-rated PA gambling sites that offer you the biggest bonuses and fastest withdrawals. The websites that operate within the state are regulated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, which ensures that players personal information is kept safe, as well as that all games have fair and random outcomes.

Of course, if you gamble in this state, you can also play at offshore casinos. They are not illegal, but they are not held to the PGCB standards. Even so, if you find licensed casinos from regulatory bodies like the MGA, Curacao Gaming Commission, and UKGC, theres no reason why you shouldnt enjoy safe gambling even there.

Some of the best rated websites in PA are not only licensed and safe, but they also partner with third-party agencies for reviews, such as iTech Labs and eCOGRA. If you see such a seal on their site, it means that a third party has certified the RNG software and equipment of the casino.

If you are looking for the best and safest place to gamble in PA, youve come to the right place. To choose the best site, there are a couple of things you must consider.

Here is a list of the best-rated PA online gambling sites, saving you countless hours searching for the right choice. Sites like PlayMGM, PartyCasino, and PokerStars Online have had a tremendous success on the Pennsylvanian market. Instead of risking losing your money on a website that is not worth your while, or your trust, you can simply spend minutes to check out ratings and reviews and make your decision. This is by far, the fastest and most cost-effective way of picking your lucky PA casino.

Most PA casinos will offer you bonuses some grander and more attractive than others. However, you should always read the fine print before you jump at the opportunity to claim a $5000 match bonus! When a casino offers you something too grand to be real, it is usually because it is.

This doesnt mean that PA does not have great welcome packages or other promotions. As a matter of fact, there are some sites whose bonuses are not at all bad, and their wagering requirements are more than reasonable.

The lower the wagering or playthrough requirement is, the better is the bonus. For example, even a small match bonus up to $100 with playthrough requirement of 20x is much better than one of $5000 and a playthrough requirement of 200x. The latter makes your chances at finally withdrawing your winnings slim to none.

You should be enjoying your time when youre gambling online. After all, youre investing your money into this! It goes without saying that the games on some websites are better than on others. Your goal is to find a PA casino that offers you games to keep you entertained, offer you fair odds, and give you a great chance at experiencing the Fortunes flavor.

When checking out the game selections, make sure to take a peek at the developers. Software developers like Microgaming, NetEnt, Pragmatic Play, Evolution Gaming, and other highly rated companies are known to produce the best titles.

If you have been gambling for a while, you know that online play has tons more options compared to land-based gambling. At traditional casinos, you were able to use cash and maybe your card but that it all. Online, you can use all sorts of methods as long as the casino you selected is offering them to you.

Before you start gambling, check which payment methods are available at casinos. Even if you find the one you like in the deposit list, it might not be available for withdrawals. Also, check if there are fees associated with any method youll be using, and whether or not you are restricted from using them if you want to claim some bonuses.

For example, many players prefer using e-wallets to increase their level of security and enjoy faster withdrawal times. However, most bonuses, especially the welcome packages, exclude this from the eligible deposit methods. Check this before you make any kind of deposit, and decide on whether you wish to use an alternative and which one.

Lets say that you have some troubles with the website, your withdrawal has been delayed, or you simply need an answer to a question that you cannot find in the FAQ section. Who do you reach out to?

The customer support is a very important feature of a casino website. They should be always available, professional, and helpful. Check the website to see if they have several options for contact, whether or not the casino has a non-stop support service, and try to learn how well it works by reading some testimonials.

The top-rated casinos will have at least two methods of contact, if not all three: phone, live chat, and email.

A bit of research didnt hurt anyone, especially since when youre gambling, you need to know that you are safe to provide your banking and personal information. Naturally, trusting sources that provide you with all the information about gambling sites is the safest and fastest choice. If you decide to do this on your own, take your time to check the Pennsylvanian sites to find the one with the most promise for your gambling endeavors.
