Upgrade Your CBD Vaping Experience in 2021 Using These 7 Tricks – Oregon Cannabis Connection

Posted: September 27, 2021 at 5:24 pm

Its time for you to upgrade your CBD vaping experience. Even though 2018 had its ups and downs, we cant miss the point that it was rewarding (and sometimes not) in many ways if we finally started using CBD as much as possible.

The benefits of CBD are limitless and impossible to ignore. The most exciting aspect is that people from all around the world started reaping all these benefits by just dabbling themselves with this miracle supplement. And theres practically no doubt about how effective it is when compared with other solutions out there like painkillers, anxiety pills, antidepressants, etc.

However, vapers still need an extra push to get thousands of flavors and sub-ohm options available on the market right now and thats exactly where this article can be of great help. You can also have a look at different types of Vapes before proceeding.

1. Smoke CBD Oil from a Pen Style Vape :

This is perhaps one of the most convenient ways you can use CBD oil. Its cheap, easy to carry since it comes in-built with vape pens, and always handy when you need them the most. You just have to remember not to abuse them for too long as they may get heated at some point which ultimately leads to wastage of precious CBD oil.

2. Go for a Squonk Mod + RDA :

If youre someone whos interested in more flavors and vapors, squonking mods are perhaps the best way to go. Squonk mods are basically bottom feeding devices that have become quite popular these days for people who like building their own coils and vaping them with a custom RDA.

Squonk mods arent only limited to CBD oil, but they can be used along with any vape juice you wish (This is mainly aimed towards people who get bored easily with flavors). Since squonking removes direct contact between tank and mod, youll get loads of clouds from every hit, and this will eventually allow more flavor breakdown in your mouth.

3. Buy Plenty of Accessories :

While theres no denying that buying accessories might cost you extra than normal vapes, investing in quality parts & pieces is going to help you get the most out of your CBD vaping experience.

Consider buying accessories like extra coils, best replacement glass for RDA and RDTAs, cotton wicks, wire cutters, etc., which can be used with almost all kinds of mods available in the market right now. Not only will they significantly increase your lifespan as a vaper, but theyll also give you more freedom to create something new every time!

4. Take Extra Care Of Your Vape Mod :

Mod maintenance is absolutely crucial if youre using them on a regular basis. If there are any loose batteries around or your mod has been plugged in/out for too long, then make sure that you check everything before firing up those clouds again. We personally recommend at least checking the battery contacts and ensuring that theyre clean from any dust or dirt before giving it a go.

5. Use CBD Based Vape Juice with Your Tank :

There are plenty of good third-party CBD vape juice flavors available in the market right now and we cant stress enough how well they work when combined with your favorite vaping tanks. The best thing about these CBD vapes is that they come pre-filled, which means that you dont have to worry about running out of liquid for hours on end. Just make sure you buy them from a reliable source!

6. Take Extra Care When Vaping High PG E-Liquids With A Sub-Ohm Tank :

E-liquid makers are heavily pushing high PG e-juice all over the place, and thats mainly because it generates a ton of clouds which is exactly what most vapers look for. While this might be great news, you should know that some high PG e-liquids have been known to crack plastic tanks based on previous experiences (we recommend using glass tanks if youre serious about vaping CBD).

7. Start Vaping CBD at Lower Wattage :

While we dont think this point needs any explanation, wed like to remind everyone out there whos new with vaping devices that they shouldnt start off by firing 100W+ wattage right from the get-go. All you need to do is check your tank resistance first before firing those coils since itll save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

Vaping with CBD is great but you should always be careful about how high you vape and the kind of mods youre using. While theres always a risk of explosions, we recommend using regulated mods instead of mech mods if youre looking for cool clouds and flavors. There are plenty of companies that weve personally used, and they all sell quality CBD juices at competitive prices. If you really want to get the most out of vaping with CBD, check them out!

Despite everything stated above, remember that its still best to consult your doctor before taking in any sort of cannabinoids. However, it is legal in some countries because research has shown that CBD can be used as an effective treatment against epilepsy, among other things.

Hemp maze in Lancaster County puts a twist on a fall tradition – ABC27

Posted: at 5:24 pm

HOLTWOOD, Pa. (WHTM) Corn mazes are a classic fall attraction, but Cedar Meadow Farm put a unique twist on the tradition this year by exchanging corn for hemp.

Cedar Meadow Farm started growing hemp and producing CBD oil after the crop was legalized three years ago, the farms owner, Steve Groff, explained. This is the first year the farm is offering a hemp maze, which incorporates education about hemp and Cedar Meadow Farms agricultural practices with the tricky trek through the crop.

The 4-acre maze includes a section of shorter hemp for younger children and an area with taller plants reaching up to 12 feet tall for older kids and adults. The maze also includes a popular hemp seedbox, similar to a sandbox, in which children can play.

The maze creates an image of Grizzly, Cedar Meadows farm dog and mascot. Guests may even get to meet Grizzly when they visit the attraction.

The maze is about more than just fun, though. This isnt just entertainment; its also educational because we have our education stations, we say about all the things that the hemp plant can be used for, Groff said.

Hemp is a cannabis plant, but Groff said that no, guests wont get high walking through the maze. The hemp that makes up the maze has less than 0.1% THC, which is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis.

Legally, cannabis plants with less than 0.3% THC are considered hemp, while cannabis plants with greater than 0.3% THC are considered marijuana, which is only legal for medical purposes in Pennsylvania.

Hemp is used in many products, one of the most well-known being CBD oil. The plants used for the corn maze are not the type that is used for CBD oil, though, because that variety is too short for a maze, Groff explained.

Instead, the hemp that makes up Cedar Meadows maze primarily produces useful fibers and seeds. The seeds can be eaten by people and other animals, while other parts of the plant can be used to make products such as textiles and biodegradable plastics.

Groff said that the seeds from these hemp plants would be ready to harvest right around mid-September, but because the maze runs through October, the seeds will not be harvested. The fiber will be, though, and Groff said he will send it off to a factory that will turn the lanky plants into other items.

Since the maze opened, hundreds of people have come to visit it, some driving hours to check out the attraction. Groff said he hopes to reach 1,000 total guests this weekend. People find it fascinating, he said.

The hemp maze is open from 1 p.m. until dark on Saturdays through the end of October. At 5 p.m., the farm also offers a Pumpkin Chunkin Buffalo Safari and Farm Tour, which takes guests on a ride through the farm to learn about its agricultural practices and then to Cedar Meadows buffalo pasture, where guests can feed pumpkins to the buffalo.

If youre interested in trying something unique, something different, we got it, said Groff. Its educational, its informative, but its a lot of fun, too.

Global $2.32 Bn Pet Supplements Market to 2028: Sales Soared During COVID-19 with Focus on Products that – Benzinga

Posted: at 5:24 pm

Dublin, Sept. 27, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The "Pet Supplements Market Size, Share & Trends Analysis Report By Pet Type (Dogs, Cats), By Distribution Channel (Offline, Online), By Region (North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Central & South America), And Segment Forecasts, 2021 - 2028" report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com's offering.

The global pet supplements market size is expected to reach USD 2.32 billion by 2028, expanding at a CAGR of 5.9% from 2021 to 2028

Pet supplement sales soared as a result of increased consumer interest sparked by COVID-19, particularly in products that target immunity, anxiety, and overall wellness. When it comes to consumer buying patterns, joint health supplements are already at the top of the list, but hip and joint supplements are only one element of the senior pet health picture.

The growing numbers of aging dogs and cats are in need of an immune response, cardiac and cognitive support items, and anti-inflammatory and pain management aid, thanks to breakthroughs in veterinary treatment and pet owner interest in pet wellness and nutrition at an all-time high.

According to Packaged Facts' 2020 Pet Owners Survey, 47% of dog owners have a dog aged 7 or older, up from 43% in our previous study, and 43% of cat owners have a cat aged 7 or older, up from 39% in our previous survey, demonstrating the growth of this pet demographic. Marketers can leverage already-existing products into a growing pet population segment by targeting the senior population with personalized products and senior-specific products, such as multifunctional supplements, thereby offering another viable avenue for market expansion.

According to a survey of pet food producers performed by Petfood Industry in April, 60% indicated higher sales through online shops. Granted, that was during the early lockdown-induced stockpiling of pet food and many other essential household goods; however, in the most recent Petfood Industry Confidence Index surveys of pet food executives and other professionals, e-commerce has remained one of the few bright spots as business confidence has lagged in other areas.

Many dog owners are naturally anxious about administering human-grade CBD oil to their pets. However, firms such as Royal CBD and Gold Bee have created CBD products designed specifically for pets that are less strong.

Preliminary research from Baylor College of Medicine suggests that CBD oil can aid in the treatment of canine osteoarthritis, which affects 20% of dogs over the age of a year.

Ever find yourself trying something new and discovering a new life path along the way? For researcher Dr. Simon Weissenberger, PhD, what was supposed to be a temporary move to Prague to complete a Masters degree turned into a life-changing event, both personally and professionally.

Dr. Weissenberger is now involved in research targeting the endocannabinoid system (ECS), a complex body system that helps regulate a wide range of functions and processes, including mood, sleep, memory and appetite. While the research was originally connected to the use of cannabis and how THC affected the body, scientists are now looking into other ways the ECS is crucial to overall health and how to work with it for overall wellbeing and health.

He is also a researcher and PhD supervisor at the First Faculty of Medicine at Charles University and the Chief Scientific Officer at Endoverse, a UK-based organization specializingin educating the general public on endocannabinology and offering clinical services based on a systemic, integrative approach to human health.

We recently spoke to Dr. Weissenberger about his exciting research, Endoverses expansion to Prague, and how expats can take steps to improve their health while living in the Czech capital.

What is your background and what attracted you to studying theendocannabinoid system?

My background is in Medical Psychology and my main area of study was in adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and its connection to lifestyle. In terms of the ECS, what stimulated my curiosity and interest is primarily the fact that in school we often brushed over it or covered it very superficially.

To me, it was strange to read that the ECS controls most of our physiological functions and yet we didn't learn more about it. This is greatly because the ECS is a relatively new discovery in the field of medicine, even though currently it is understood to be the most important system in the body as it is responsible for regulating almost all functions.

What prompted your move to Prague and working at Charles University?

I was accepted to do a Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology at La Salle University in Philadelphia and did not want to live out in Philly. The school at the time had two international programs for the Masters one was in Greece and the other in Prague. I had signed up for the Athens program hoping to enjoy the Mediterranean life with great food and the sunny weather but unfortunately, that program was canceled due to the economic crisis in Greece at the time. I chose to try a place that I had never really heard about or known much about, which was Prague.

When I first moved here it was very difficult for me to get used to the culture and the food.

I was really shocked for example at how quiet and reserved people were on the subways and the lack of eye contact on the street. Eventually, we had a guest professor from Charles University lead a seminar and I got along quite well with him. We got to talking about the new PhD program in Medical Psychology and Psychopathology and eventually I entered the program and completed my doctoral studies, where I also met my Czech partner and the rest, as they say, is history!

For those who dont know, what exactly is the endocannabinoid system?

Put simply, the ECS is one of the most important systems in your body that few are talking about! The ECS has receptors all over the body and the primary ones are called CB1 and CB2.Functions like thermoregulation or maintaining your body temperature, hunger and food cravings are all regulated and depend on the ECS.

The ECS is either activated or inhibited by what we call agonists or antagonists and these can be activated by specific foods we eat or by exercise. As we have CB receptors all over our body and brain, it also regulates inflammatory responses, either to inflame or to inhibit the inflammation.

What role does it play in our body and why is it important?

One of the main messages we at Endoverse are trying to bring forward is that in our fast-paced societyis that most of us are living with an overactivated CB1 Receptor and this can be caused by stress, overstimulation, sensory overload and a poor diet. What we need to collectively do is to realize what really matters in life, slow down a bit, and enjoy life more.

Taking into consideration the typical local diet, what small changes canexpats living here maketo really improve the endocannabinoidsystem?

The ideal is to add more real and whole foods such as raw vegetables, and include healthy fatty acid oils such as hempseed, walnut and olive. The ECS is also impacted by various foods such as spices with chilli peppers, ginger, cinnamon and pepper influencing the ECS as well.Unfortunately, the typical Czech diet isnt always the best one for this, as its filled with meats and fried foods.

On the other hand, Prague has many great farmers markets that offer plenty of clean, organic options for those wanting to include more whole foods into their diets.I personally recommend the readers to avoid pork as it is associated with inflammation and to moderate the beer consumption even though hops do have a strong effect on the ECS.The alcohol, on the other hand, can be detrimental to overall health.

Aside from diet, what other things can somebody do to improve their ECS?

The idea is to balance the ECS and for this we don't only need food. Exercise and exposure to sunlight are beneficial, going for a walk in green areas is recommended, and taking time to relax.Prague is a very green city with lots of parks so it shouldnt be hard to escape to nature regularly, with a greatpark like Stromovka togojogging or biking in.Things like meditation and mindfulness are very helpful.

If somebody wants to incorporate CBD oil into their health/wellness routine, they might be tempted to justgoto the nearest store and buy whatever they find there. Is there a better way to do this?

Unfortunately, the CBD and cannabis industry is behind the curve with using evidence-based approaches in their products. To give an example, most CBD companies greatly advertise 'full spectrum' products, thinking and misleading their customers into believing that buying an oil that contains CBD in addition to a myriad of other plant-based cannabinoids such as CBG and small amounts of THC is better than providing pure CBD extracts along with healthy fats.

One of my colleagues has helped the company Good Fats (Hodne Tuky) develop a potent ECS balancing formula that can come with or without CBD. This is a high omega-3 hemp seed oil with Vitamin D3. This can be taken by itself or as a potent vector where you can take any CBD oil with it to increase its bioavailability. In this case, the CBD works synergetically with the healthy fats and the D3. Furthermore, the basic Omega and D3 oil contain all your endocannabinoids in a bottle, the body's own endocannabinoids are always more important than CBD or other phytochemicals.

What else does Endoverse offer?

In Endoverse Solutions, we provide consultations and education for companies involved in CBD to improve their products and take a science-based approach that encompasses the endocannabinoid system.

As someone whose research focuses on wellbeing, what advice would you give expats in Prague who are trying to live a healthier lifestyle in Prague?

Aside from the issues of long Covid that some people are experiencing, the lockdown has brought forward a great deal of mental health issues such as higher rates of anxiety, depression, and addiction. My recommendation is to practice self-care in terms of being aware of stressors in your life and if needed to seek out mental health counseling.

As the ECS is mostly dependent on lifestyles like diet, I recommend seeking out a balanced omega 6-3 ratio by integrating healthier fats in your diet such as hemp seed oil, walnut oil, olive oil and, if necessary, omega supplements.

Czech Republic has some beautiful nature to explore in the form of national parks and reserves and if you are in Prague there is Stromovka Park, Kunratice Les and Letna just to name a few spots.

This CBD balm can help ease aches as the world opens up again – Boing Boing

Posted: at 8:38 am

Studies show that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the mental health of many who might not have had such problems before, and it's hardly surprising given the plight New York City experienced throughout 2020. After living through such a tense time when it was rare that we could even leave our houses, New Yorkers may now be enjoying a summer without restrictions, but that doesn't mean the scars of the pandemic and isolation have completely healed. Ongoing mental health issues such as anxiety and stress require sophisticated assistance, and seeking out the help of a professional is the best way to help to process your thoughts and feelings about your life and the world at large.

But there are other ways you can try to soothe your negative feelings, such as with CBD balm or oil. Testing of the substance is still in its early stages, but analysis has shown "strong preclinical evidence" that CBD oil can support treatment for stress and anxiety. It's especially pertinent when the world is once again opening up, and we don't want pain, stress, or anxiety to get in the way of that new lease of life.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a substance produced by the cannabis plant one of the two main chemicals among hundreds within the plant called cannabinoids, another of which is cannabigerol (CBG). The other is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive or intoxicating i.e., it doesn't give the user a "high." It's simply geared at soothing such conditions as anxiety and stress, and even epilepsy, or providing relief from aches and pains, potentially offering anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial effects.

There are many ways to take CBD extracts as an oil, a capsule, in gummy form, in a vape pen, or in other ways, such as in a CBD balm. It's often marketed as a stimulator of serotonin receptors in the body, producing a calming effect that can counteract the stresses of life. Used effectively, many users report a reduction in stress and anxiety. It's asimpler way to wind down and relax, especially if stress or anxiety are something the user frequently feels.

One brand offering CBD products for just this purpose isoHHo, which offers CBD creamand balms specifically targeting aches and pains, to ensure you can continue to live your life to the fullest now that the world is once again opening up and we can enjoy outdoor and group activities.

Using a unique blend of high-potency CBD alongside CBG (grown on small, sustainable American farms) and a mix of other botanicals like peppermint, lemon, and cedarwood, the CBD creams and balms help to soothe and repair. For example, the Full Spectrum CBD Balm (CBD 1200mg, and CBG 300mg per 2oz) can help by providing relief from pain and inflammation, and provide antibiotic properties while moisturizing your skin. There's also a lip balm or a duo available and oHHo isoffering 20 percent off their full range of CBD creams and balms with code BOINGBOING20so you can help deal with anxiety, stress, and aches as the world opens up once again.

The 8 Best Tips We’ve Ever Heard About Taking Hemp, From Experts – mindbodygreen.com

Posted: at 8:38 am

Finding your ideal dose of hemp can be tricky. While everybody's different, if you're new to the product, it's generally recommended that you start on a low-to-moderate daily dose (10 to 20 mg of cannabinoids) and monitor its effects for one to two weeks. If you don't feel like it's helping you stress any less, you can start to increase the dose with the permission of your doctor.*

As mbg's director of scientific affairs Ashley Jordan Ferira, Ph.D., R.D.N., explains: "Clinical research indicates that 15 to 25 mg of hemp CBD might be a sweet spot for helping improve our stress resilience and promote calm."

Side effects of hemp tend to be relatively mild (the most common one is fatigue, which some people view as a benefit, i.e., sleep support*), and people don't seem to build a tolerance to the plant over time, meaning that it's safe to experiment with dose until you find one that works for you.*

We tried it: Willie’s Remedy CBD coffee & tea review – Weedmaps News

Posted: at 8:38 am

I sometimes wonder if people will ever stop asking me, "Does CBD actually work?" My guess is probably not, seeing how, like all cannabis compounds, CBD's efficacy is dependent on a) an individual's genetic makeup and predisposition, and b) whether or not the product they've tried actually contains the amount of CBD advertised. In an industry rife with cheap CBD imitators and perpetual cash-grab attempts, encountering a CBD product that works, and really works, feels like a personal victory.

For me, taking Willie's Remedy CBD Coffee and Tea for a spin felt like one of those personal victory moments. The canna-beverage market is still in a relative state of infancy. It seems like only in the last year or so that a few choice beverage brands have become synonymous with potency and reliability.

CBD can be tricky because if you're taking it, you want to be able to feel a definite effect without necessarily feeling stoned or even sleepy. My past experience with cannabis-infused coffee and tea is somewhat limited, but if I've ever had frustration with either, it's that the difference wasn't quite noticeable enough for my liking. So let's dive into these hot drinks and see how they deliver.

The CBD sister-brand of Willie Nelson's Willie's Reserve cannabis, Willie's Remedy specializes in full-spectrum hemp-infused coffee, tea, tincture, and topical balm. For this review, I'll be looking at Willie's Remedy Medium Roast Coarse Ground Coffee, Peppermint Tea Pyramid Bags, and Chamomile Tea Pyramid Bags.

Willie's Remedy coffee comes in vibrant, brown paper bags with a label that emulates that old-fashioned, "General Store" coffee vibe, with a clear display of CBD content in milligrams (250 milligrams, to be precise) and the signature Willie phrase "Count Your Blessings Daily." Willie's tea bags come in round tins of 16 bags with 200 milligrams CBD per package making for an approximate total of 12.5 milligrams per bag also prominently displayed on the front label.

Celebrity-backed CBD companies are a dime a dozen at this point, and depending on which ones you've tried, your patience may vary already. Maybe I'm just letting my personal taste influence my first impression a little too much here, but I find the presentation of Willie's Remedy not only to be aesthetically appealing but denotes a quality and authenticity that I'd expect from something that bears the Redheaded Stranger's name.

And I'm no coffee expert, but the quality and strength of the smell when I opened my coffee bag far surpassed the aroma of the typical stuff I pick up from Trader Joe's.

According to Willie's Remedy, its coffee is "carefully selected and roasted, then infused with organically grown, full-spectrum hemp oil from independent US farmers." As reported by The Spoon, hemp oil is applied directly to the beans immediately after roasting, which is intended to get a proper distribution of hemp throughout the beans and result in a richer flavor and effect in the final product.

Even in coarse ground form, my Medium Roast Willie's coffee had a vibrant, multidimensional flavor that I noticed immediately. As I mentioned earlier, I'm no coffee expert, but for anyone whose relationship to coffee is primarily utilitarian but not enough to shy away from higher quality, I can't imagine a cup of Willie's Remedy being a let-down. I had hoped that I'd taste the hemp extract so I'd know for sure it was there, but ultimately the effects did a fine job of letting me know without affecting the taste of the coffee.

Happy to report that this cup 'o joe absolutely delivers on its promised "harmony of focus from the caffeine plus calm from the hemp." At first I thought it might've been just a placebo effect, but then I checked with a buddy of mine who happened to have had a cup over at my place as well. We both found that we'd been sufficiently energized and moderately soothed without feeling virtually any of the typical coffee jitters.

For my first cup of Willie's CBD coffee, I held off for a little longer than I usually do after waking up, mostly to make sure I didn't just chug it down by reflex and miss out on a fuller sense of how it made me feel. Most mornings I don't eat much breakfast, and when I do, it's usually to avoid making myself sick with coffee on an empty stomach. Against my better judgment, I forewent breakfast with my first cup of Willie's Remedy but found my stomach felt just fine, even after a second cup.

I also felt my creative juices flowing pretty immediately, and on a sharper level than usual. I had energy, for sure, but I also had focus and creative drive, and I could feel a tangible difference in the way my thoughts coalesced. I don't know what you call an experience like that if not holistic.

Willie's Remedy CBD tea is comparable in effect, as well as contrasting in flavor and overall experience, to Willie's coffee. If there's a place in your morning or daytime routine for tea, both the peppermint and chamomile teas offer an enriching sensory experience that can add vibrant dimensions to your day.

Willie's peppermint tea is both soothing and invigorating in all the ways you'd hope. For some people, especially in America, tea will always be a hard sell, but this peppermint tea contains a rich, sweet flavor that's appropriately earthy without just tasting earthy. There's an immediate jolt to it that's great for a morning or afternoon pick-me-up.

The chamomile tea is silky-smooth and will please anyone who likes to cozy up and sink into tranquility with a hot cup of chamomile with honey.

I'll spare you the details of the night before I tried Willie's peppermint tea, but I will say with total confidence that it's great for helping with a hangover, especially if you're not a coffee person. And as I already mentioned, its holistic, pick-me-up quality makes it enormously effective in setting a welcome mood for the day, potentially boosting productivity without sending you into an uncomfortable, caffeinated frenzy.

The same can be said for Willie's chamomile tea, only with less immediate invigoration that comes with the peppermint. Though still enlivening in terms of focus and creativity, the chamomile put me on an even-keeled register that helped me stay calm and collected throughout the day.

As a connoisseur who's sampled plenty of CBD products some good, some bad, and many that are just ok I was blown away by the overwhelming sense of cool, collected calm with a moderate boost of energy that both these teas provided. Assuming the CBD is distributed evenly, there were about 12.5 milligrams of CBD per tea bag not a heavy amount but not necessarily a lightweight 5-milligram deal either. They set a tone, mood, and flavor to my mornings that couldn't have been more conducive for completing daily tasks as well as stopping to enjoy the vibes of my surroundings.

For lifelong stoners, the impulse to turn every cannabis product into a hyper-capitalist productivity booster in the age of legalization and mainstream acceptance can be a bit of a downer. However, in the case of Willie's Remedy coffee and tea, there's a legitimate opportunity to curb anxiety, stress, and caffeine jitters while infusing the experience with just enough tranquility to effectively help one find peace through times when "getting shit done" is a necessity.

Simple Ways to Live to 100, Say Experts | Eat This Not That – Eat This, Not That

Posted: at 8:38 am

You might want to live forever, like some Greek god or sparkling vampire. But the truth of the matter is, vampires never seem to get gum disease. And Zeus never had prostate cancer. We mere mortals not only die, but get sicksometimes painfully so.

There's no point living long if you're not healthy while doing it.

That's why we scoured the latest medical journals and studies to uncover the top 38 ways you can live healthy for as long as possible. Not only will this advice extend your life, it'll lead to a happier and healthier one, too. Hygieiathe Goddess of healthwould approve. Read on to find out moreand to ensure your health and the health of others, don't miss these Sure Signs You May Have Already Had COVID.

The common wisdom about living longer is to de-stress, so you can finally enjoy life. Since deadlines at work keep a lot of us awake at night, it may come as a surprise that early retirement can be a risk factor for dying earlier. According to research published in the British Medical Journal, healthy people who delayed retirement by just one year past age 65 had an 11% lower risk of death from all causes. The same was found to be true in unhealthy people who retired a year later.

Recommendation: No matter your age, keep busy at work on somethingif not a job, then a hobby, like gardening, crocheting or crossword puzzles. You might be at rest but your mind doesn't have to be.

Maybe good things really do come in small packages. The CIA World Factbook shows people live longer in Monaco than anywhere else on earthuntil 89.4 years old, surpassing even Japan (at 85.3). By comparison, the average life expectancy in the United States is 78.6 years. With a combo of their Mediterranean diet, fresh sea air, ample sunshine and wealth, it's no wonder.

Recommendation: A Mediterranean diet is one that's rich in fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish, and whole grains, low in red meat, and free of refined foods and added sugars. Enjoy wholesome, good-for-you ingredients, and nothing processed. A richness of health will follow.

Aspirin was discovered more than a century ago, and since then it's been a go-to for headaches, fevers, and lowering the chances of having a heart attack. So many people think popping a baby aspirin is a quick and easy way to stay healthy. But don't start on an aspirin regimen without talking to your doctor first. The FDA warns that long-term aspirin therapy only works on certain people, and can actually increase risk of brain bleeds and other nasty side effects.

Recommendation: When talking to your doctor, also mention how frequently you take pain relievers like Advil or Tylenol. They can be ineffective if taken for the wrong reasons.

Mental health is just as important to your well-being as your physical health. So it's time to stop stigmatizing therapy. Research from The Australian National University found that mental health conditions cause a mortality gap: men may have a shorter life by 10.2 years, and 7.3 years shorter for women. There is good newsabout 80% of those who are treated for depression or anxiety with drugs improve.

Recommendation: Sites like Psychology Today offer contact information for a therapist near you, and new digital solutions like Talkspace save you a trip.

Smoke alarms save livesbut only if they work. When a home catches fire, you may have only minutes to get out safely. While most homes in the United States have smoke alarms, a study in the Western Journal of Medicine found that 30% didn't work when tested due to malfunctions or dead batteries.

Recommendation: Here's a trickwhen you change your clock at Daylight Savings Time, change your smoke alarm batteries, too, and ensure the device works.

Pets can do more than get tails waggingthey can help you live better. Studies have linked pet ownership to lower risk of anxiety and depression. Now the American Heart Association has weighed in, recommending that people own a dog, particularly for those who want to get heart healthy. Studies have shown that dog owners walk morebecause dogs need walking every daywhich improved cardiovascular health. Pet owners also have lower blood pressure, tend to be more physically active, and walk significantly more than those who do not own dogs.

Recommendation: Adopt responsibly, from an organization like the ASPCA.

Now here's a paradox to wrap your mind around. It turns out that being afraid of death can actually shorten your lifespan. A study published in the Journal of Psychosocial Oncology found that cancer patients with death anxiety experienced more pain and depression, and that "life expectancy was perceived as shortened in patients with death anxiety."

Does a glass of merlot a day keep the doctor away? Maybe. Red wine is made by crushing whole red grapes and fermenting the juice. As a result, it's high in antioxidants, which may help prevent coronary heart disease. The Mayo Clinic says the link between antioxidants and heart health is still being studied, but the benefit may come from an increase in "good cholesterol" (HDL).

Recommendation: Enjoy a glass of red wine with dinner. Although doctors are wary of advising anyone to drink alcoholso don't start drinking just to prevent heart disease.

Every six months or so, you're in the dentist's office for a cleaningand probably a lecture about flossing. Next time, pay attention. The American Heart Association's journal Hypertension says there is a link between gum disease and heart disease. Sore, swollen gums are a sign of inflammation. When left untreated, this can lead to periodontitis, which leads to pockets of pus. This is the risk for heart problems. Your gums are full of blood vessels, and when you have a mouth full of bacteria, a tiny sore can let that bacteria into your bloodstream and trigger inflammation throughout your body.

Recommendation: Brush your teeth twice a day and floss once daily.

It turns out that worrying can be good for you after all. A study found that conscientiousnessbeing persistent, cautious and well-organizedhas a significant impact on longevity. Those who are conscientious are more likely to obey the rules, less likely to engage in risky behaviors, and less prone to diseases.

Recommendation: Conscientiousness can be learned. Use your phone's calendar app to remind you of important dates like birthdays or anniversariesand mark them "annual" so you'll be reminded about them next year, too, automatically.

A sunny outlook really can make your life better. Researchers have found that a positive attitude could lead to a longer, healthier life. A study by the Mayo Clinic showed that pessimists had a 50% increased risk of early death than optimists. The study concluded: "A pessimistic explanatory style is significantly associated with mortality." Optimists also tend to have easygoing, extroverted, overall positive attitudesall of which may help to lower stress.

Recommendation: Meditation can lead to a greater sense of calm, and thus optimism. Try it for just 10 minutes each morning, and you should see results within one month.

It's everywhere, but does it work? Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is a natural remedy that promises a plethora of overallimpact. It's created by extracting only CBD from the cannabis plant. That way, you get the health-related benefits of cannabis without the "high"because CBD is not psychoactive. While the jury is still out about it's overall health benefits, recent research has shown a link to heart health, stating "a single dose of CBD reduces resting blood pressure and the blood pressure response to stress."

Recommendation: Studies on the potential health benefits of CBD oil are ongoing, so more therapeutic uses are likely around the corner. Anecdotal evidence shows it helps everything from inflammation to PMDD. Fans don't care if it's real or just the "placebo effect"they just know it works for them.

The science is clearsocial isolation is a significant risk for early death and heart disease. One study showed that marriage is associated with longer lifespans. The researchers concluded "never having never been married is a better predictor of poor health outcomes than either divorce or widowhood." And the health impacts of loneliness aren't only for the elderlyin fact, they may be even stronger in younger ages.

Where you live can affect how long you live. According to the CDC, life expectancy is 78.6 for the U.S. population in general. But living in certain states can actually increase (or decrease) that number. Hawaii has the longest life expectancy at 81 years, followed by California, New York, and Minnesota. Kentucky, Alabama, West Virginia and Mississippi have the shortest life spans (less than 75 years).

Remember when your mom said "Go outside and play"? Well, she knew what she was talking about. Life expectancy can be increased just by getting a bit of fresh air. When you go outside, your skin is exposed to sunlightand that's how you soak up vitamin D. This, along with calcium, is essential for bone health (that's why your milk is fortified with vitamin D). And here's the good newsit doesn't take much time.

Recommendation: Just fifteen minutes a day in the sun is enough to maintain vitamin D levels for most people.

A good night's sleep is critical for your health. That's because sleep is one way your body healsbut there is a sweet spot. According to a study conducted in the United Kingdom, too little sleep is dangerous for your health, but sleeping too much is even worse. The study found that sleeping less than 7 hours per night can decrease your lifespan by 12%. Sleeping more than 9 hours is linked to a 30% greater risk of early death. Short sleep is also associated with low-grade inflammation, which increases risk for cancer, cardiovascular disease and other chronic conditions.

Recommendation: Get your 7 to 9 hours each nightno more, no less.

Get busy. Really. Having an active sex life can help you live longer. According to a study by the British Medical Journal, men between the ages of 45 to 59 who reported at least two orgasms per week were half as likely to die from coronary heart disease than their abstinent counterparts. Other studies have shown that sexual activity is linked to health benefits like lower stress lower cancer risk.

Older people who see their glass as half empty may have the upper hand in lifespan. According to a study published by American Psychological Association, being overly optimistic is associated with greater risk of disability and death. The researchers concluded: "being overly optimistic in predicting a better future than actually observed was associated with a greater risk of disability and a greater risk of mortality within the following decade."

Think twice the next time you consider having just one more. Drinking too much alcoholmore than one drink per day for women, or two for mencan lead to a shorter lifespan. And patients who are hospitalized due to excessive alcohol use die 24 years earlier than the general population. Heavy alcohol consumption is also linked to liver, heart, and other chronic diseasesand it can lead to weight gain from all those extra calories you're drinking.

Recommendation: According to the National Institutes of Health, those who drink moderately have a slightly longer life expectancy compared to nondrinkers, so raising a glass is probably okay. Make it red wine.

People who have close friendships have a better chance of a longer life. In fact, research has shown that having good social relationships predicts a 50% greater chance of longevity, and that these connections help us speed up recovery from disease. Social connection is linked to positive emotions and may even increase immune function. Loneliness increases risk of early death by 45%, increases chances of a heart attack or stroke, and decreases immune function.

Recommendation: The next time your friend asks to meet for lunch, do it. Unless it's Siri.

Those rugs on your floors may be cozy, but they can also pose a risk for falls. It's easy to trip over things on your floor, especially when they're in your path. And as you age, you are at greater risk for serious injury from a fall, because you may be losing bone mass or muscle memory. The CDC says that falls are the second leading cause of accidental deaths worldwide, and adults over the age of 65 are at the greatest risk of suffering a fatal fall.

Recommendation: You might think this is obvious, but chances are you've stubbed your toe recently, or stepped on a Lego, or worse: Keeping your walkways clear from things you could trip over are a good way to reduce your risk.

If you want to live a longer, healthier life, eat more fruits and vegetables. The CDC recommends 2 cups of fruit per day and 3 cups of vegetables for adults for a healthy diet because they are rich in nutrition, low in calories, and much better for you than a candy bar. According to a study of English adults over nearly eight years, those who ate the most fruits and vegetables had a "robust reduction" in risk for cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Recommendation: Don't let a target stop you from eating your greens. Any amount is good for you.

Even if you're not up for doing an Ironman, any amount of exercise you do could extend your life. A study by the University of Pennsylvania found that even just ten minutes a day of light activity has big health benefits. Doctoral candidate Ezra Fishman, the author of the study, says you don't even have to work up a sweat to reap the benefits. "The folks who were walking around, washing the dishes, sweeping the floor tended to live longer than the people who were sitting at a desk."

Recommendation: "Get at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activitysuch as brisk walking, swimming or mowing the lawnor 75 minutes a week of vigorous aerobic activitysuch as running or aerobic dancing. You can also do a combination of moderate and vigorous activity," advises the Mayo Clinic.

A study in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings found that people who are on a team have a health advantage over those who exercise solo. Researchers found a clear link between longer life expectancy and team sports that encourage friendships and social interactions, concluding "Interestingly, the leisure-time sports that inherently involve more social interaction were associated with the best longevity."

Recommendation: You don't have to be on the same team. Playing social sports like golf, tennis, or soccer could add years to your life.

Here's something to buzz aboutthat cup of coffee you drink in the morning could boost your longevity. A study found that people who drink 3 to 5 cups of coffee every day have a 15% lower risk of early death compared to those who do not. There is also some evidence that coffee can reduce risk of stroke and Type 2 diabetes. But there can be too much of a good thing. Consuming more than 400 mg of caffeine can make you feel uneasy and keep you awake at night. So, if you're into decaf, you're in luckresearchers found similar benefits in decaffeinated coffee.

Recommendation: Sweeten your coffee with a touch of agave, not spoonfuls of sugar. And avoid anything that starts with "frap." That's not coffee. It's dessert.

Watching your favorite TV show could be taking years off your life. A study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that every hour spent watching television shortened life expectancy by 22 minutesthe same effect of smoking two cigarettes. And watching six hours of TV per day cuts your life expectancy by five years. A Harvard study linked watching just two hours of TV per day to a 20% greater risk of Type 2 diabetes and 15% increase in risk of heart disease.

Recommendation: We don't expect you to stop watching Succession. But do be aware of your screen time. TV not only shortens your life, but can prevent you from living life to its fullest.

Add a little flavor to your diet to boost your health. Turmeric is a plant related to ginger and a common ingredient in curry powder. Rutgers University scientists found that combining turmeric with phenethyl isothiocyanate (a compound found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli) can help fight prostate cancer.

Recommendation: Sprinkling turmeric on your veggies even once a week could give you some protection. And the capsaicin in chili peppers leads to weight loss, too.

Getting behind the wheel when you're exhausted might seem like it's not a big deal"we all do it," you might thinkbut it can be deadly. According to the National Sleep Foundation, drowsy driving is downright dangerousit can have a similar effect on your body as drinking alcohol. Being awake for 18 hours makes is like having a blood alcohol level of .05 (the legal limit is .08). It will be hard to pay attention and slow your reaction time.

Recommendation: If you're tired, pull over somewhere safe and take a quick nap or ask someone else to drive. There is less shame in being late than there is seriously hurting yourself or others.

Going for a swim is a great way to relieve stress and get some exercise. But before you dive in, be sure you have a buddy. According to the World Health Organization, drowning is the third leading cause of accidental death worldwide. Men have twice the risk of drowning than women do, in part because men tend to be riskier when swimming (using alcohol and going alone).

RELATED: This One Thing Could Predict if You'll Get Diabetes, Says Study

Laughter really is the best medicine. Not only does it reduce stress, lower blood pressure, improve your feelings of well-being, laughing can also dull pain. According to a study in the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, women with a sense of humor were found to live longer despite being ill. In fact, the findings show that high scores in cognitive sense of humor are linked to a 73% lower risk of death from heart disease, and an 83% decrease in risk of death from infection.

Recommendation: Rent Top Secret or one of these 30 Funniest Movies of All Time.

According to research, being unemployed can boost a person's risk of early death by a whopping 63 percent. This risk is exacerbated for older adults who lose jobs during a recessionthey may lose up to three years of life expectancy. Studies found a potential link between stress and increased likelihood of cardiovascular disease, alcohol use, and other health problems.

RELATED: Signs You're Developing Dementia, According to the CDC

We spend most of our waking hours at work, so it should come as no surprise that our co-workers have an impact on our health. A study by Tel Aviv University that examined people in professions from manufacturing to finance revealed that risk of death is correlated to the "perceived niceness" co-workers. Those who reported having "little peer support" had 2.4 times greater risk of dying during the study. Whether or not the boss was nice had little impact on lifespan.

It's no secret that being generous makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. But it may also help you live longer. According to research, spending money for the benefit of others has a profound impact on emotional well-being. Doing good things for others pays an even higher dividendthose who cared for neighbors live the longest.

Recommendation: The Good Place creator Mike Schur turned us on to GiveWell, a site that showcases "high-impact giving opportunities that are supported by in-depth charity research."

RELATED: How to Reverse Aging, Say Studies

Sorry guyswomen really do tend to live longer. Women tend to be less risky in their behaviors (one reason their car insurance is lower) and do better as widows than their male counterparts when a spouse dies. In fact, a landmark study found that "centenarians are overwhelmingly female except in rare areas of the world."

Getting your yearly checkup is vitalbut may people put off a doctor visit because they don't want to hear bad news, or they just can't afford it. According to one study, life expectancy decreases by nearly 2 years for each chronic condition a person hasand it does not vary across sex or race.

Recommendation: Almost all insurances cover a yearly physical. If you're not going, you're wasting free money, and putting yourself in danger. See you there.

RELATED: Over 50? Signs Your Health is in Danger

It's worth it to go to school. The odds of dying for women with the lowest education levels is 66% higher than for their more educated counterparts, according to a Harvard study. Higher education is associated with less financial stress, fewer traumatic events like divorce or assault, and better odds of having health insurance and owning a home.

The amount of time you spend sitting can shave years off your life. A study published in the Journal of American Medicine found that sitting for more than 11 hours a day actually increases your risk of death over the next three years.

Recommendation: Maybe it's time to look into getting a stand-up desk. Or simply stand up from your desk and walk around every 30 minutes.

RELATED: Simple Ways to Avoid Dementia, According to Doctors

Tobacco is still the leading cause of death in the United States. The CDC says mortality among both men and women is three times higher than those who have never smoked. For every pack of cigarettes you smoke, you take 28 minutes off your life. The average smoker loses 25 years of life expectancy. "Vaping" is likely no better, although E-cigs are so new there's no research yet. E-cigs have been known to cause abdominal pain, seizures, coma, cancer and death.

Increased calm, pain relief, better focus, and healthier sleep are just a few of the benefits people enjoy from CBD intake. The main benefit of CBD is that it strengthens the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is a part of your body that is responsible for ensuring you are running safely and smoothly. Like many other parts of the body, it runs less and less efficiently with age. Sleep, appetite, digestion, motor control, immune functionality, pain, memory, and mood are all assisted and depend on the smooth functioning of the endocannabinoid system.
