Several videos of silhouettes of mini-dinosaurs running have emerged on social media and left people baffled on the internet. It appears as if these raccoon-sized dinosaurs with an unusually long neck, or sauropods, are racing each other at a beach.

This took me a few seconds, wrote a Twitter user while another commented, I thought I was watching mini dinosaurs on an island - huge Jurassic Park vibe

Watch the viral video:

Theres a problem

The first 11-seconds of the video can easily convince a first-time viewer that these critters are indeed mini dinosaurs. However, its only during the last moment when they appear to slow down, do the disproportionate necks sort of stoop 90 degrees to become parallel to the ground.

What sorcery is this?

If you still dont see it, then spoiler alert: Its actually a video of coatimundis reversed.

One observant Twitterati also theorised that the clip has been edited a little to make it more confusing. They said, The illusion works well, because somebody fixed the flow of water and removed the splashes.

It took some confused commenters longer than they were willing to admit while others were simply confused about what it was even though they were clear about the video playing backwards.

It's not the only such video to appear on Twitter.

Coatimundis are a species closely related to raccoons. These furry mammals typically inhabit Central and South America. However, their habitat extends to the remote regions of Southwestern US.
