The Buffalo Bills are getting the Kansas City Chiefs on a short week.

Kansas City hosted the Las Vegas Raiders in a competitive matchup on Monday Night Football in Week 5. The Chiefs got into a 17-0 hole, but found a way to comeback and win the game 30-29. Needing all four quarters to pull off the win, Bills fans may feel as though the Chiefs will enter Sundays game at a bit of a disadvantage.

The evidence, however, tells otherwise.

Since taking over as the quarterback of the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes and company have fared well coming off of short weeks. Going back to 2018, the Chiefs are 7-2 in this scenario.

The win-loss record is certainly impressive, but a look at their past four games should provide some optimism for Bills fans despite the Chiefs record over that span of time.

Heres a year-by-year look at the Chiefs win-loss record on short rest.

In 2018, Mahomes and the Chiefs had two regular season games coming off of a short week. In Week 5, the Chiefs would defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars 30-14 coming off of a Monday Night Football win over Denver. Kansas City would lose 29-28 to the Chargers later that season on Thursday Night Football just days after defeating the Ravens 27-24 in overtime.

Denver was on the wrong end of a lopsided loss in the Chiefs only game on a short week in 2019. Kansas City would defeat Denver 30-6 that season.

The Chiefs lost to the Raiders 40-32 at home in Week 5 after a Monday Night Football win over the New England Patriots the previous week. Kansas City would have just six days to prepare for the Denver Broncos coming off of a 26-17 win over the Bills on Monday Night Football, but it wouldnt matter. The Chiefs would go on to demolish Denver by a score of 43-16.

Kansas City played in three games coming off of a short week in 2021. They would win all three matchups.

The Chiefs defeated the Green Bay Packers at home 13-7 in Week 9. Its important to note that Aaron Rodgers did not play in this matchup.

Kansas City would defeat the Chargers 34-28 in overtime in Week 15 and defeat the Denver Broncos in Week 18 by a score of 28-24. Both matchups were on the road.

Kansas City defeated the Los Angeles Chargers, also coming off of a short week, 27-24 at home on Thursday Night Football in Week 2. Los Angeles got out to a 17-7 lead, but collapsed in the fourth quarter. The Chargers defense would allow two field goals while Justin Herbert would go on to throw an interception at the one-yard line that would be returned for a 99-yard touchdown.

Its hard to ignore the Chiefs success on short weeks, but there is a bit of a silver lining as of late. Their past four games on short weeks have all been decided by one score or less.

The Bills are no strangers to playing at Arrowhead Stadium. With their roster the healthiest it has been in weeks, Buffalo has a great chance of handing the Chiefs their third loss coming off of a short week in the past five seasons.
