The outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic forced people to stay indoors and subsequently, it led to a steep rise in the use of internet which further led to rampant circulation of fake news and increase in cybercrimes.

Fake news not only mislead, but also sometimes take toll on both mental and physical health of a person. To fight these fake news, the Centre has been taking all possible measures.

Amid this, another fake news is in circulation claiming that those who have received Covid-19 vaccines will get financial assistance of Rs 5000 from the Centre.

As per the viral message, those who have got the Covid vaccine are entitled to get Rs 5000 from the Prime Minister's public welfare department after filling an online form.

However, PIB Fact Check has busted the fake news. Terming the message as fake, the government fact check has requested people not to forward this fake message.

The agency also advised people to stay informed and vigilant stating that many fraudulent sites impersonating as government websites try to dupe people by offering jobs under fake schemes.

"Beware of online phishing attacks & never share your personal details with anyone," it added.
