The three chiefs had met Singh Saturday as well.Amid continuous protests happening across the country over the Agnipath Scheme, a senior Army official Lt General Anil Puri, Additl Secy, Dept of Military Affairs said that there is no place for indiscipline in the Armed Forces and all candidates will have to give a written pledge that they did not indulge in any arson or violence.

The seventh round of the India-Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) was held in New Delhi on Sunday.Moving on to some other national news: In seperate incidents, two SpiceJet aircraft returned to their airports of origin shortly after take-off yesterday with one suffering a bird hit in Patna and the other from Delhi facing a technical glitch that led to a cabin pressurisation issue. In a third incident, an IndiGo aircraft turned back to Guwahati a few minutes after takeoff due to a bird hit.

All the three incidents will be probed by the aviation safety regulator DGCA.

On Sunday afternoon, a Delhi-bound Boeing 737-800 operated by the Gurugram-based low-cost airline made an emergency landing in Patna, minutes after take-off from there, after one of its engines suffered a bird hit. The aircraft was carrying 185 passengers and six crew members.Meanwhile, a day after an Islamic State-claimed attack on one of the main gurdwaras in Kabul that killed two people and injured at least three, the Indian government granted visas to 111 Afghan Sikhs who wanted to come to the country.

Sources said the decision to grant the e-visas were taken within hours of the attack, which took place on Saturday when 25-30 Afghan Sikhs and Hindus had gathered at Gurdwara Dashmesh Pita Guru Gobind Singh Karte Parwan, the central gurdwara of the Afghan Sikh community in Kabul, for the Sukhmani Sahib or morning prayers. A group of gunmen, believed to be around four in number, stormed the gurdwara and opened fire.

In some political news: Polling for 46 municipalities in Haryana registered a 10 percentage point drop from last years voter turnout amid ongoing protests against the Agnipath scheme.

Election officials told The Indian Express that at 6 pm, the voter turnout was 70.4 per cent and was expected to touch 72 per cent as poll booths saw queues till late evening. According to an official, the voting in 42 of the 46 municipalities was nearly 80 per cent in 2016; voting in the remaining four municipalities started this year.

An official said the protests against the Agnipath scheme might be a reason behind the low turnout this time even though there were no major protests reported on Sunday.Lastly, amid continuing protests against the Agnipath military recruitment scheme, the Opposition raised pitch for its withdrawal, with Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra appealing to the youth to recognise fake nationalists and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav asking if the RSS has a hidden agenda behind the scheme.

Speaking at the Congresss satyagraha against the scheme at Jantar Mantar, Priyanka said the Congress supports the struggle of the youth, who should fight to bring to power a government which represents true patriots.

She said: Follow democratic means, walk on the path of truth and non-violence and bring down this government. You should strive to bring a government which shows true patriotism.

If youre looking for a way out from under overwhelming credit card bills and other debt, bankruptcy could wipe out your balances and offer a fresh start. But filing for bankruptcy has downsides, so you might consider debt consolidation as a way to simplify your finances and pay off debt faster.

Debt consolidation and bankruptcy are two very different things, though both can provide relief when debt seems hopeless. Understanding the differences between debt consolidation and bankruptcy can help you make the right choice if you find yourself buried under bills.

Debt consolidation is a financial strategy for paying off debt. Though it might be considered a form of debt relief, you wont be forgiven any of your debt; instead, you trade it all in for one new loan, often at a much lower cost.

Debt consolidation might involve getting a personal loan from a bank or credit union, taking out a home equity loan or line of credit (HELOC), or applying for a 0% APR balance transfer credit card to swallow up your existing balances.

Another form of debt consolidation is offered by consumer credit counseling agencies: debt management. If youre having trouble paying your debts and your credit score isnt good enough to qualify for a debt consolidation loan, you can enlist a credit counselor to work with your creditors to make your debt easier to pay off.

There are a few good reasons to pursue debt consolidation:

Lets take a closer look at a few types of debt consolidation and how they work:

Debt Consolidation Loan: You could reorganize your debts by replacing them with a single debt consolidation loan, which might take the form of a personal loan or home equity loan. You pay off your existing debts, then roll them into the consolidation loan. Debt consolidation simplifies your debt and can cut your interest costs if you qualify for a lower APR (annual percentage rate) than youve been paying on your previous debts.

Credit Card Balance Transfer: If you have good enough credit, you might be able to consolidate debt by transferring your existing balances to a 0% APR balance transfer credit card. Note that the cards are interest-free for a limited time, so you need to make sure you pay off the entire debt before the regular (and often high) APR kicks in.

Debt Consolidation Through Credit Counseling: A nonprofit consumer counseling agency can put you on a debt management plan that will consolidate your debt into one big monthly payment to the agency, which then pays your creditors. You get points for making on-time payments, your credit score wont be affected, and you can save on interest and fees.

Instead of taking out a new loan or working with a credit counseling agency, you could try to renegotiate your debts with your creditors, maybe by asking for a payments pause or a lower interest rate. Theres no guarantee theyll say yes.

Another option is debt settlement, which involves working out a deal with your creditorseither on your own or with the help of a debt settlement companyto pay off your debt in a lump sum for less than you owe. Debt settlement can be risky and can hurt your credit, so its generally not the smartest option.

Bankruptcy is a legal procedure that can wipe out your debts and give you a clean slate, or provide you with a plan to pay off your creditors within three to five years.

The downside is that bankruptcy can stay on your credit report as a black mark for up to a decade, making it harder for you to take out new loans. Not all debts can be discharged, or eliminated, through bankruptcy; back child support, alimony, past-due taxes and student loans usually cannot be erased.

Bankruptcy has consequences and can be an emotionally difficult and lengthy process. However, if your debts are unmanageable and unpayable and you want to make a fresh start at rebuilding your finances, bankruptcy might be the best choice.

Bankruptcy is a form of legal protection for borrowers; its part of the social safety net for consumers who get into money trouble or suffer financial setbacks. But many people might prefer to find another way to deal with overwhelming debt.

Americans usually have two bankruptcy options to choose from: Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

Chapter 7: This type of bankruptcy is intended for people who lack the financial means to make debt payments. Chapter 7 puts a halt to collection efforts and can eventually cancel many kinds of debt. In exchange, the debtor must agree to give up some personal property so it can be sold to pay off creditors, though most assetsincluding home equity, cars and jewelryare usually exempt.

Chapter 13: Often called repayment plan bankruptcy or wage earners bankruptcy, Chapter 13 requires you to agree to make payments to your creditors over the course of three to five years. Once the repayment plan is completed, remaining debt may be forgiven. Debts typically discharged through Chapter 13 bankruptcy include credit card balances, medical debts and other unsecured personal debts.

As part of the bankruptcy filing process, debtors are required to take a credit counseling course. But turning to a nonprofit consumer credit counseling agency is a good idea long before you decide to seek protection from your creditors through the bankruptcy courts.

Credit counseling can help you evaluate your options and explore whether a debt management plan could help you get out of debt without having to go through the bankruptcy process.

Other alternatives to dealing with debt through bankruptcy include: selling some belongings youre no longer using to help pay down what you owe; taking on a part-time job or side hustle to boost your income; and borrowing money from family and friends to repay your creditors. But be careful with that last one, because if you dont pay back a friend or relative you risk ruining the relationship.

Bankruptcy marks you in the eyes of the financial industry as a borrower who is not creditworthy, and that negative mark stays on your credit report for seven years in the case of Chapter 13 bankruptcy, and 10 years when you file Chapter 7.

Meanwhile, debt consolidation can help improve your credit. A debt consolidation loan pays off your existing balances and leaves you with one monthly bill. A loan with a lower APR can allow you to save money and find extra room in your monthly budgetmaking your debt easier to handle.

To answer that question and make the right choice for your situation, compare your options side by side.

When debt is a problem, you may find that neither debt consolidation nor bankruptcy is the right solution.

Heres another idea: Consult a consumer credit counseling agency. These nonprofit organizations can help you understand your options and will recommend a plan to get you out of debt.

If you dont have good credit and may have trouble qualifying for a lower-APR debt consolidation loan, a credit counselor can provide expert advice and work with you to come up with a debt management plan. The counselor also can help you explore whether bankruptcy is the best choice for your situation.

Free, No-commitment Estimate

Filing for bankruptcy is a multistep process that requires you to pull together tax returns and other documents, attend mandatory credit counseling sessions, fill out lots of forms, and go to the U.S. bankruptcy court for your ZIP code with your paperwork and required fees (again, $338 for Chapter 7 and $313 for Chapter 13) in hand.

You can file for bankruptcy on your own, without an attorney, but thats not recommended. Free legal assistance may be available if you qualify.

Whether you file for Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy, the process is complex and can take anywhere from a few months to more than a year.

In a Chapter 7 proceeding, the judge might require you to surrender some personal possessions to pay creditors. In a Chapter 13 case, youll have to agree to a repayment plan to give back some of the money you owe over the next few years.

A bankruptcy attorney can navigate you through it all, and help you understand what to expect.

A Chapter 7 bankruptcy stays on your credit report as a black mark for up to 10 years. A Chapter 13 bankruptcy will remain on your credit report as negative information for as long as seven years.

Theres no specific limit on the number of times you can file for bankruptcy, though you can receive debt relief from bankruptcy only once every several years.

For example, if you filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, you cannot discharge debts again via Chapter 7 for eight years. If you used Chapter 7 previously, you must wait four years to try to discharge more debts via Chapter 13.

Rolling your debts into a lower-interest debt consolidation loan is trickier if you have bad credit. A lender may look at your lackluster credit score, assume youll have difficulty repaying the loan and reject your application. The best debt consolidation loans for bad credit tend to come from online lenders that are more willing to say yesif youre willing to accept a higher interest rate.

Imps Week In Wrestling Vince McMahon: Hush Money and Creative Bankruptcy – Wrestling Headlines

Posted: at 3:06 pm

Where to even begin? No mixing of hyperbole in declaring this week as momentous. Id like to say were all bloody agreed on that.

Starting the week sharing jokes at AEWs expense with their interim champions and ended it with a new interim CEO & chairwoman of WWE. Unprecedented times in the wrestling world as we verge on a potential major shift.

I normally ramble into proceedings with these intros, but with the seriousness of the first topic this weeks column is already long enough. So no beating around the bush, skipping the pleasantries today as we get straight in to the biggest talking point of the week.

Hush Money, Dont Say A Word

of course he is.

The image of a live crowd cheering and bowing to Vince McMahon amid hush money allegations will stay with me for a long time.

An ego driven company CEO & Chairman on a power trip in the middle of the ring. Stood telling us the most important word of the WWE Then. Now. Forever slogan is Together. Before dropping the mic in a strutting off statement that hes not going anywhere.

The Wall Street Journal dropped a bombshell of an article on Wednesday. Reporting on pending WWE Board investigations into Vince McMahon for paying an alleged $3m settlement to keep an ex-employee quiet about their sexual relationship.

Link To The Wall Street Journal Article

The boards investigations not just finding a copy of the agreement, but also emails detailing how the ex-employees salary was doubled after the relationship began. The former was paid for out of Vinces own money, but the increased salary? Yeah, that came out of company funds.

The board discovering multiple other McMahon settlements from over the years, as well as misconduct from other company heads such as John Laurinaitis for whom its quoted that the ex-employee was passed to like a toy.

On Friday the WWE said Vince McMahon had voluntarily stepped back from his responsibilities. Saying Stephanie McMahon would be stepping in as interim CEO and chairwoman, but Vince will still retain his role and responsibilities related to WWEs creative content.

Then came the announcement that Vince would be opening Friday nights SmackDown. A move that according to Fightful Select had multiple staff members and top talent reacting from confused to enraged backstage. Whilst Vince was in a reportedly happy mood, no-selling that anything was wrong and going along business as usual.

Just think about that for a second. The boss himself accused of paying off employees of which hed had sexual relations with breaking the companys code of conduct multiple times over in the process then went on national TV in character and flexed his muscles to the board.

Thats insanity. No denials, just a I cant be taken down like that, you should remember that this is my house! statement of power. His appearance promoted to garner a rating, trying to grab a viewership number with the man in the middle of sexual misconduct allegations.

Even Succession wouldnt write this for its unbelievability.

The man bathing in his cult-like appreciation whilst surrounded in an aura of dissatisfaction. Vince vs The World a tried and trusted tactic. Making it out like theres bad people just out to get him, like hes done nothing wrong. The worst part is this will work, a section of his viewership will eat it all up and become adamant supporters.

I fully expect Vince will do whatever he can to never have to face accountability. But is that a mistake for what is now a public trading company? This isnt the same family business WWE that faced the steroids trial in the 90s. Were talking having to convince boards and investors that Vinces image wont damage their profits.

What weve seen so far is an early stage reaction to a scandal like this, shifting pieces about to help negate the seriousness of the allegations. More chess moves will come as this really is just the beginning. You know the seriousness of this given the way the reactions have played out. There has been no denial, just promises that this is being met with full cooperation.

Call me pessimistic, but I dont expect much to alter no matter the findings. How can that man still be in power? Ill say, answering my own question with the words I phrased it with. A change has been called for within WWE for years, instead weve seen more doubling down on the older generation running the shop.

John Laurinaitis controversial rehire emblematic of the toxic culture we were previously told WWE had moved on from. Sean Ross Sapp reporting multiple accounts of staff and wrestlers alike feeling uncomfortable with his return to the company.

The story from AJ Lees book immediately coming to mind. A man is his 60s telling a 20-something old girl that guys wanted to hang out instead of having sex with her and that was a problem. PISS OFF with that shit.

Ember Moons recent account in an interview with Chris Van Vleet, talking of classes teaching the female talent how to make more revealing gear and to dress sexy like Mandy Rose. Toni Storm opening up about having to fight off getting stripped down to her underwear on national TV. THIS IS A CULTURE.

Nothing will change until the top does.

Going off a report from Fightful Select, Stephanie McMahon is apparently beloved by those she works with. Something which is fantastic to hear, but the moves so far tell me the chess pieces are all being moved to protect the King. How much change will there be when none of these actions are actually there to instigate it?

Not forgetting we havent even gotten to what on Earth all the other NDA agreements will reveal. Arguing in defence of Vince against this story being serious is almost a pointless exercise, because youre going to have to do that with all the other hush settlements uncovered.

Never mind if already known stories from Vinces past rear their heads once more with the spotlight on bright: WWEs first female referee Rita Chatterons accusations of rape (LINK) and being accused of forcing himself on a tanning salon worker in 2006 (LINK) come to mind.

The degree of reaction tells me how severely this has hit too big to be swept under the rug but the fear of McMahon whipping up his base into a support frenzy is all too real. Wielding the company control of creative he went on national TV and delivered a Wolf Of Wall Street-Succession threat consider the alarm bells of concern fully ringing.

Qualifying For The Bank

Good luck with this tonal shift, Imp

Hey, do you remember the tranquil waters of this past Monday? The sound of the waves lapping, the promise of ladders buckling. Its the most ladder-ful time of the year! I was thinking. Oh the innocence! How its cloud eventually rains in a downpour and drowns us all.

Thinking back to my excitement of adding another multi-person climbing kerfuffle to my routine list of re-watches. Im always hyped for new ladder standouts, having worn out the proverbial internet tapes of Money In The Bank 2011 and initial WrestleMania editions.

The chaos, the carnage, the crashes. Feed me those inventive ladder stunts and Ill keep gleefully eating like the constant consumer that I am. The promise of promotion literally hanging above the heads of employees as they fight it out for a contract in a suspended briefcase. If this was in a film I might think this match concept was saying something but who cares? I love every second!

In a Battle Royal movie Id be the guy watching with a paid subscription.

The prestigious briefcase game being afoot also results in WWEs telly shows themselves getting a jolt of short term direction. The lads and lasses doing what they can to qualify in exciting back n forth contests, as its slowly unveiled who well see climbing the ladders this year. A top notch excuse to feature awesome talents launching themselves at each other in the name potential glory.

This week featured an absolute banger between Seth Rollins and AJ Styles, with the former right on trajectory to solidify himself as Monday Nights focal villain. Arguably the favourite to walk away with the briefcase, especially after his stellar work elevating Cody Rhodes to the star WWE so desperately needed him to be.

This match with Styles playing out so perfectly. Constantly changing control and moment, before ending in a manner that really nailed the feeling that it could have been either one of them that walked away with the win. Seth was just able to better AJ on this day, setting him up nicely for Ladders In Las Vegas.

Talking of favourites, Liv Morgan also continued her strong run of momentum as she successfully teamed with Alexa Bliss to qualify. Morgan really developing into a fan favourite as she increasingly shows her ability to improve and impress. Money In The Bank either the perfect time to crown her rise more substantially, or set her into a programme to sink her teeth into.

I say this as if WWE are thinking that long term ahead right now. Even if they are looking forward only a tad, setting the wheel in motion to cement Liv Morgans elevation seems the clearest of objectives.

RAW was mostly forgettable this week, but we did get some enjoyable Money In The Bank set up.

The Road Rages On!

Why Christian? Why?? Oh yeah its AEW, we know exactly why. This has been set up for months.

Now to shift on to AEW and try remember that mid-week feeling of watching a top notch wrestling show with no controversy surrounding it oh wait no, this week started with the whole Jeff Hardy thing! How am I forgetting?

What an exceptional episode of Dynamite for my birthday. Always knew Tony would come through! He reads my cliff notes on the invoices after all.

Huge pops for Jericho vs Ortiz, the amazing visual of Wardlow destroying 20 lads, a downright impressive match between Ospreay and Dax, Tanahashi & Moxley bleeding into JAS & Suzuki-Gun versus the BCC, Miro in his dominant return honeymoon period, Hangman Page attacked by the new IWGP Heavyweight Champion and an exceptional tag team ladder main event that finally saw Christian turn heel.

A show so great you have to rattle down the card like Excalibur himself. A nonstop run as we zoned in on the Forbidden Door and all the unique cross-promotional set up that comes with it. Next week promises more NJPW names as previously unannounced spots get filled, but this week filled in the direction for some already announced names.

The biggest of those being the return of Orange Cassidy to challenge for Will Ospreays IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. The Essex man only winning the title at Dominion last Sunday, but already finding himself having to defend on previously forbidden shores. A huge return pop for the denim clad man, a ridiculously over wrestler who just so happens to be perfectly beatable for New Japans new champion.

I guested on the Keeping It Strong Style podcast this week before Dynamite had aired and voiced my lack of excitement at the prospect of an Ospreay vs Trent match. A match against the Freshly Squeezed one himself though? Count me all the way in! PAC vs Orange Cassidy is one of my favourite AEW matches, an astoundingly fun bout I consistently return to. The perfect encounter for those times where you just need a smile on your face.

Orange Cassidy may not be the biggest dream name you could conjure up, but his match with Ospreay is damn sure going to be an entertaining one. Ill be eating that one up as much as the live crowd.

Its Sting!

Shortly after this photo, Kyle ORiley with a 10/10 baseball bat to the dick sell

A perfectly harmlessly fun edition of Rampage this week. If anything a welcome change of pace following the insanity that was Friday.

An hour where I was able to turn my brain off and enjoy some solid wrestling. Ending on a lovely pop for the returning beloved Icon. A delightful note to close on given everything else.

Darby Allin and Bobby Fish with a solid main event, the former set on getting his revenge on those dastardly ReDragon boys. But it was all a set up for the man himself to return and swing a bat into Kyle ORileys penis. Setting up Darby for our full circle moment: Coffin Dropping onto Bobby Fishs ankle as its wrapped in a steel chair.

Revenge exacted for the duo taking out Sting, now them boys are in real trouble!

Elsewhere we had Jade Cargill remaining dominant with a win over the loveable Willow and Max Caster answering the call to deliver a line on the NDA news given they were recording the night the news broke.

There wasnt really a lot to talk about off of this weeks Rampage. Heres some more wrestling if you would like to see it. An enjoyable hour of wrestling, the easiest watch of the week. But also the least consequential if you happen to miss it.

RAW Grade Forgettable, but with a Rollins vs Styles banger in the middleDynamite Grade Road Raging in style on the road to the Forbidden Door!SmackDown Grade Vinces hush money and creative bankruptcyRampage Grade A delightfully fun, easy watch to end the week on

Comment below. Ill be here to reply and chat this weird wrestling world.

Toodles, chaps.

CF Industries Stock: From Boom To Bust – Sell Into The Rallies (NYSE:CF) – Seeking Alpha

Posted: at 3:05 pm

cstar55/E+ via Getty Images

Over the past month, energy and fertilizer stocks that have significantly outperformed the market YTD have come under significant pressure, despite having seemingly "cheap" valuations based on their normalized P/E.

CF Industries (NYSE:CF) stock was also hammered as the market continued to distribute the massive gains from its 2020 COVID bottom. In a May article on Mosaic (MOS), we cautioned investors that the market has been setting up the trap. We also highlighted similar price action structures in energy stocks such as Occidental (OXY) and Exxon (XOM), urging investors to take their profit (here and here).

In addition, the feedback that we received in our comments stream further corroborates our perspective that investors have gone gaga over such stocks, akin to highly optimistic sentiments (warning sign).

Our price action analysis also indicates that the market has been distributing CF stock since March, shortly after the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. It has been drawing in dip buyers astutely. Two significant bull traps, including a potent double top bull trap, emphasized the market's significant rejection of buying momentum. Coupled with its distribution phase, it highlighted the market's intention to force further selling, moving ahead.

Notably, CF stock is struggling at its near-term bottom after the recent sell-off. The market could continue to distribute further or force rapid selling soon (the duration is hard to predict). Therefore, we urge investors to consider layering out/cutting exposure soon, using potential rallies to cut more before it goes into the rapid liquidation phase.

CF price chart (monthly) (TradingView)

Poring into its monthly chart, we can glean the significant bull trap formed in March/April. Such parabolic moves are consistent with price action structures that indicate that the market had drawn buyers rapidly into the set-up. However, the market could use a distribution phase (duration is hard to predict) to draw in more dip buyers at the top before moving into the rapid liquidation subsequently.

We believe that CF stock is now mired in such a distribution phase that has taken place over the past three months.

CF price chart (weekly) (TradingView)

Zooming into its weekly chart, we can clearly observe its distribution phase. Saddled with two bull traps, including a potent double top (formed in April), we believe the stage has been for an eventual sharp decline.

Notably, the stock broke down its near-term support (which could turn into its near-term resistance if it does not retake). Our analysis suggests that CF stock could continue to distribute further along the current levels, allowing the market to draw in more dip buyers. However, we don't encourage investors to buy the dip here, given the potency of its double top bull trap.

Instead, we urge investors to consider layering out/cutting exposure and use potential rallies to sell even more positions.

CF revenue change % and adjusted EBIT change % consensus estimates (S&P Cap IQ)

The Street's consensus (generally bullish) is modeling for CF's revenue and adjusted EBIT to peak in FY22, before falling precipitously from FY23. Therefore, investors need to ask themselves why they should factor in another massive revenue increase if even the generally bullish Street analysts don't think so.

As a result, it would likely affect CF valuations as its free cash flow profitability would likely be impacted. Given the forward-looking perspective of the market, we believe the early warning sign from its double top bull trap is clear.

We rate CF stock as a Sell. As mentioned, it's at a near-term bottom, so a potentially short-term rally (dead cat bounce) could occur. But, we urge investors to use such potential rallies to reduce exposure.

CF's price action structure is looking increasingly perilous, and we believe a rapid liquidation could happen after the completion of its distribution phase. So, don't wait until then to sell.

CF graduates to chart their own paths to success – Valley Breeze

Posted: at 3:05 pm

CENTRAL FALLS With 125 graduates crossing the stage at the Yip Soccer Field last Friday, Central Falls High School Principal Robert McCarthy commended the class of 2022 for recording-breaking academic achievements in spite of the obstacles faced during their high school career.

There are many popular phrases that apply to this class, like that does not kill us makes us stronger or the obstacle is the way, McCarthy said. These are so true for all of you because no matter the barrier, the adjustment, or the obstacle to your learning, you figured out a way to persevere and thrive in and out of the classroom.

Over cheers in the crowd, McCarthy said the graduating class submitted a higher number of successfully presented graduate portfolios than any preceding class in school history. He commended students who gave birth to three new honors societies that did not exist last year.

The Class of 2022 also helped start the first boys volleyball team, a cheerleading team and an e-sports team during the 2022 to 2023 school year. The seniors raised roughly $13,000 in eight months to fund their prom. The students succeeded in all this despite the hurdles of the COVID-19 pandemic, school closures, and virtual learning, McCarthy said.

... Youve touched all of us with your perseverance, exuberance, and flexibility, McCarthy said. We cannot wait to hear what you all accomplish when you leave high school.

He said he hopes to see students return to Central Falls as teachers, business owners, or community leader of the city because one way our schools get better is those of you who know CF, who are most connected to this community, come back and impact future generations and model what it means to be a Warrior.

Valedictorian Lyneth Mendoza reflected on the milestones of the students 12-year education, the first day of freshman year, and the day that completely changed our lives, March 13, 2020. From that day on, Mendoza said students bid farewell to what they considered a typical high school experience.

Some of us had to pick up extra shifts to make ends meet, while others needed to learn to balance taking care of family members and passing their classes, she said. These past two years have not been easy for any one of us.

While paths to get to graduation werent what students expected, they accomplished the goal. Mendoza said the Class of 2022s success has pushed against those who talked down on Central Falls, with students being accepted to some of the best schools in the country, and to the workforce.

Never let anyone else define what your life is going to be. You already have endured so much and have been so persistent throughout your high school career to prove you have what it takes to prosper, Mendoza said.

Taking the stage, salutatorian Darisel Velez said there were no perfect words to describe the phenomenon of time passing. Time, she said, stands no time match for the timelessness of the lessons we have learned and the lasting impact of people we have met.

With students having overcome personal and shared obstacles and battling busy workloads during their high school career, Velez said they became caught by the stressfulness of it all.

Somewhere along the way we became too busy, or maybe even too distracted to notice we were experiencing what our younger selves dreamed of accomplishing, Velez said. With the nationwide occurrence of tragic losses due to gun violence, we are reminded that we must protect our dreams

Velez said public fear is intolerable. After graduation, students may embark on their lives outside of the one-square-mile city of Central Falls, but as we celebrate our departure from high school we must know that with great accomplishment comes great responsibility.

City Council President Jessica Vega said students high school experience was filled with unique challenges that each graduate was bold enough to face. She said students set an example for students that follow, and have proven that they are capable of success in any path they choose.

From volunteering dozens of hours in community service, to trying new sports activities, to adapting throughout the difficult pandemic, to presenting your impressive senior portfolios, you have so much to be proud of, Vega said. ... Keep learning, keep growing, and stay involved in this community. Class of 2022, Central Falls will always be here for you

Student speaker and 2022 graduate Noelia Vazquez told classmates that the commencement ceremony was an opportunity for them to reflect on themselves, and to look into the eyes of their loved ones who believed in them and pushed them to accomplish this journey.

As graduates, we should recognize the accomplishments from the past, no matter the adversity, Vazquez said.

She recognized her own family, sharing the story of her brother who experienced a stroke at age 28, and who by the grace of God is still alive and who continues to encourage her. Vazquez thanked her teachers, specifically from the school science department, who helped her continue living the dream and reaching for a career in the medical field. She encouraged her peers to continue focusing on their own dreams, and to continue mastering yourself to make their loved ones proud and be a role model in life.

Supt. Stephanie Downey Toledo said some members of the graduating class may not know her well, but they mean a lot to her. She started with the district just as the Class of 2022 was entering high school as freshmen.

She shared the story of one student, when they were just a freshmen, who made an appointment to meet with her to tell her what needed to be improved across Central Falls schools.

She was right, Toledo said. And Im grateful to the parade of leaders in this class of 2022 that have continued to advocate ever since.

Whether students are heading to a four-year college, pursuing an associates degree, entering the military or the workforce, Toledo implored graduates to remain open as life-long learners.

While 125 students participated in last Fridays ceremony, McCarthy said an additional 20 students are expected to complete graduation requirements in time for an August graduation.

Once on top of the Poker world, where has Jason Mercier been? – Sporting News

Posted: at 3:04 pm

I see guys winning their fourth or fifth, and I'm like, 'Man, if I just played the last five years, I would have like 15 [gold bracelets].'

Five-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Jason Mercier burst onto the poker scene in 2008 with a victory in the European Poker Tour Sanremo Main Event for nearly $1,400,000. An unknown youngster on the poker scene, it was the first-ever live tournament cash he recorded and put him firmly on the poker map. Weve seen many players over the years come in, make a splash, and then fizzle out or simply linger, but that wasnt the case with Mercier.

Mercier quickly rose to the top of the game, winning the first of five WSOP gold bracelets in 2009 as he began to rack up big score after big score in tournaments all around the world. Mercier was one of the faces of PokerStars Team Pro, he appeared on High Stakes Poker, and almost won an unthinkable bracelet bet against Vanessa Selbst in 2016. Life was good for Mercier, and poker mightve been better, but then he settled down and spent more time away from the tables than at them.

I miss it a lot, honestly, Mercier said, who was back at the WSOP in Las Vegas for the first time in a few years. The last time I was here, I was leaving the World Series of Poker in 2019. My wife Natasha was pregnant with our second child. She gave birth in September of that year, and then, the pandemic hit and we just never ended up coming back. Plus, the World Series didn't happen in one year. And then, you know, it was during the winter and just ended up skipping.

If you look at Merciers live tournament record as tracked by HendonMob.com, youll see a noticeable drop-off in results after 2018. From August 2018 until now, Mercier has just five live tournament results. Even in 2018, his volume was down and his cashes fewer as a result.

I've really played a lot less than I did in the last five years, Mercier said. The last five years I played almost as a part-time player since having kids. During the last three years, I played a little bit online here and there. There were points where I was playing a lot. You know, there was a game running where it was an online club and I played 40 hours a week for a few months. But there's been times when I've gone months without playing any hands of poker. I would say that I'm not rusty because of that, you know, staying fresh. But for me, poker in the last decade has always been like riding a bike. Even if I take a long break, I still feel super comfortable playing.

When speaking to Mercier, he was on dinner break in the 2022 WSOP $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller event. The event had 106 entries to create a prize pool larger than $5,000,000. He went on to finish sixth in the event for $260,815, pushing his career live-tournament earnings to more than $20,000,000.

Mercier knows a thing or two about PLO tournaments. His first-ever WSOP gold bracelet came in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament at the 2009 WSOP. He also won the $5,000 PLO Six-Handed event at the 2011 WSOP and placed second in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship in 2015. With more than $2,000,000 in prize money, Mercier currently sits fourth on the WSOPs all-time Omaha money list, per HendonMob.com.

Now a husband and father of three, Mercier said that dad life has changed his outlook on poker, as it has for many before him. The days of long sessions grinding cash games for days and days have ended, as have flying all around the world to play whatever major tournament series is running at the time. Maybe we shouldnt say those days have ended, but rather, theyve been put on pause.

I'm not playing any 48-hour sessions, that's for sure, Mercier said. I'm exhausted right now. I could sleep in two seconds if I laid down. You look back at those times and you're like, 'Man, what was I doing? That was kind of crazy.' But also, I was young, I didn't have any kids, and no real responsibilities. Back then I was playing a lot of hours, trying to make a lot of money, and now I take it easy a little more; enjoy the time that I'm able to play when I get to play, and mostly focus on my family and raising my kids.

The pause on playing full time could be over sooner rather than later for Mercier. During the $50,000 PLO High Roller, Mercier mentioned to others that hell likely be back full time at the WSOP in two years. His kids will be older and family life will be a little more settled in. Weve already witnessed the return of Phil Ivey at the 2022 WSOP after taking some time off from playing WSOP events every single day during a series, and now it seems the countdown is on for Mercier getting back into the mix in a similar fashion.

I'm not positive what the future holds for how much I'm going to play, Mercier said. I could definitely see myself playing a full schedule in a couple of years, maybe in two years from now, when my kids are a little older and they don't need as much attention. For right now, it's hard to even leave them for a few nights I would love to play every single tournament here. I would love to make bracelet bets again. It would be a lot of fun, but it's a big, big time commitment and something that I hope to do maybe later on in life.

Behind Daniel Negreanu’s quest for a third World Series of Poker Player of the Year Award – Sporting News

Posted: at 3:04 pm

Scurrying down the hallway as another one of his 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournaments enters break, Daniel Negreanu weaves through the crowd of people in the Paris Las Vegas Convention center as his iPhone is in the midst of recording a segment for the next days YouTube vlog.

MORE: Full World Series of Poker Schedule

YouTube is always a good way to promote whatever youre doing, Negreanu said on his daily YouTube vlogs throughout the WSOP. Now that Im with GGPoker, Im promoting ClubGG and GGPoker. People just started to enjoy the game, and I enjoyed doing it. Theres nobody playing all the big buy-in ones that are willing to do these.

For more than a decade, Negreanu was a member of Team PokerStars Pro, but in 2019, the two parted ways. Later in the year, GGPoker signed Negreanu to be one of their brand ambassadors, and in the time since, GGPoker has emerged as one of pokers powerhouses around the world.

Negreanus career began in the late 1990s when he attended the WSOP at Binions Horseshoe in Downtown Las Vegas. Negreanu won the first three of his six WSOP bracelets at Binions before the WSOP outgrew its first home and relocated to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino for the next 17 years.

Im surprised to see how big it got, but I wasnt surprised to see it be cool, Negreanu said about how poker has evolved to where it is right now. I remember as a kid watching on ESPN when Phil Hellmuth and Johnny Chan played. I said this is the coolest thing ever. Im not surprised people found interest in it. Im just surprised it grew like this.

From humble beginnings and small fields, the WSOP has grown to see tournaments attracting more than 20,000 entrants. The 2022 Housewarming was the fourth-largest field in WSOP history last week, while the biggest event in WSOP history occurred in 2019 with The BIG 50 attracting more than 28,000 entrants.

I definitely saw that coming post-Moneymaker, Negreanu said on seeing the 20,000-entrant fields eventually happening to the WSOP. After Moneymaker, all of a sudden theres a whole new market of players that want to play the World Series of Poker. What that means is that buy-ins start to lower. When you have the $400 Colossus and all these kinds of things, youre going to see crazy-big fields.

There is no argument that Negreanu is the most fan-friendly poker player the game has ever seen. Whether its a request for a selfie or to sign one of the poker books he has authored, Negreanu always has time for his fans. Except on tournament breaks.

Negreanu uses his breaks to rush back to his private room so that he can refuel, reset, and review the hands he played.

I dont think it hurts my poker, Negreanu said about vlogging on breaks during the WSOP. It forces me every break to go over each hand and think about it on a deep level. Im learning while I do that. Im allowing myself to vent. Its similar to what you would do if you were journaling.

The first-ever WSOP Player of the Year award went to Negreanu at the 2004 WSOP after he cashed in six of the 32 events. Negreanu reached four final tables and won his third WSOP braclet in the $2,000 Limit Holdem event.

Negreanu would become the first two-time winner of the WSOP Player of the Year award in 2013 when he cashed 10 times, and from the four final tables he reached, he won two WSOP bracelets. Negreanu won his fifth WSOP bracelet in the WSOP Asia-Pacific Main Event and his sixth in the WSOP Europe High Roller.

In 2019, Negreanu was awarded his third WSOP Player of the Year after the race went down to the wire with 2018 WSOP Player of the Year and Australian Robert Campbell. However, after a data entry error was noticed, it would be Campbell being crowned the 2019 WSOP Player of the Year.

Ive changed my approach to Player of the Year, Negreanu said. I dont do the Shaun Deeb. Shaun Deeb is running round playing this and that, and these small buy-in, huge-field events. Im not doing any of that. Im going for wins.

Negreanu is very vocal with planning out his schedule and building in rest so that he can perform at his best. He would love to win the $800 No-Limit Holdem Deepstack, but he also understands that he has a better chance to win the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Championship where more points are often available.

To win WSOP Player of the Year, you need big points, and you need to put up a couple of wins, Negreanu said You can do that by focusing on quality over quantity. There is still plenty of time. Im resilient as f***. I dont ever feel out of it.

With a WSOP bracelet drought of more than eight years, Negreanu has had many close calls with 11 top-three finishes since his WSOP Europe High Roller win. Negreanu is always a betting favorite at the start of each WSOP due to his volume of play and his incredible results - even without claiming pokers top prize.

I believe the bracelets come with it, Negreanu said on chasing WSOP bracelets and attempting to win another WSOP Player of the Year award. Youre rarely going to see WSOP Player of the Year won by somebody who didnt win a bracelet. Its very, very difficult to do.

Negreanus list of poker achievements and accolades is incredibly long, but for the Poker Hall of Fame member, would winning his seventh WSOP bracelet or unprecedented third WSOP Player of the Year award mean more to him?

Its a unique thing thats probably more important to me. To hit my third WSOP Player of the Year award before anyone else has two.

12 Things Every Poker Player Needs to Know before Turning Professional – BestUSCasinos.org

Posted: at 3:04 pm

If youre considering playing poker professionally you need to make sure that you understand exactly what youre getting into. While you can go pro if youre good enough, its not as simple and easy as it looks.

The first thing you need to do is make sure youre profitable in the long run. Then you need to be able to deal with the grind of playing poker more than youve ever played before.

The 12 tips for amateur poker players in this article cover both of these things and more.

If youve ever heard the term grinder associated with poker, you might have an idea of what I mean when I say the grind is real. A grinder plays poker for hours on end grinding out a profit.

People tend to see poker pros winning big tournaments and dream about how easy it is to make millions. But the truth is that most poker pros are simply grinding out a small profit every hour playing cash games.

If you want to be a poker pro you have to learn how to stay on top of your game while you grind out a profit. This can get to be worse than a job. Youve been warned.

Free play poker is a lot different than when you play for real money. But the fact is that if you cant figure out how to beat free poker games theres no way youre going to be able to figure out how to make a profit when you start playing for real money.

You are going to have to develop and use different skills when you play for real money than you have to use when you play for free, but poker pros learn how to either beat every game theyre in or learn how to find games they can beat. Whether those games happen to be cash games or poker tournaments.

This goes along a little bit with the last section, but I cant count how many times Ive heard poker players complain about the competition at low-stakes tables. They say that theyd get better results at higher limits because their opponents wouldnt make as many dumb plays.

The fact is that you want as many of your opponents to make dumb plays as possible. This is how you make money. The games arent ever easier at higher limits. Learn how to win at your current limit and then move to the next limit. Rinse and repeat until you find a limit you cant beat. Then move back down a limit and make as much money as you can.

Many poker players try to compare their skills to the best players in the world. They try to figure out how they stack u against the pros you see on television.

This is a waste of time, because the only thing that matter is how your skills compare to the people youre actually playing against. The most profitable poker players are the ones who can consistently play against other players who arent as good as them. This might be the most important point in this article, so dont take it lightly.

If you want a single tip that can instantly help you make more money when you play poker, this is it. You need to play fewer hands. This sounds simple, but its extremely rare when I play against an opponent who doesnt play too many hands.

Playing fewer hands means that when you do play a hand you have a better hand, and this means you make more money. Its as simple as that.

The oldest advice I remember about playing poker is that tight and aggressive play is the best way to play. While there are some poker pros that dont play as tight as others, the fact is that aggressive and tight play is still a profitable combination.

In the last section, I explained why playing tight is important, and playing aggressively when you do play a hand is more profitable than playing passively. The aggressive play forces your opponents to make more mistakes.

If you watch poker on television you might see many of the pros playing different variations of poker. They might play no-limit Texas Holdem, 7-card stud, and Omaha hi-lo. This is fine when youre making money and have plenty of experience, but while youre gaining experience and learning how to make good money, you need to specialize.

This means you have to pick a game, limit, and variation and master it first. This can be whatever you want it to be, but pick something to master. For example, you can play limit Texas holdem cash games.

Strong math skills arent required to be a profitable poker player, but they help. In fact, you have to learn how to use some fairly simple math if you want to be a professional poker player. The good news is that youre capable of learning what you need to know.

If you do have strong math skills you might find it easier to play either limit Texas Holdem or some form of Omaha when you start your career. Both of these options are easier to beat when you have strong math skills.

Your long-term poker goal is to make the right plays. Youre going to learn more about this in the next section, but it does go along with this section.

When you make the most profitable decision, you still lose sometimes. But the right decision returns a profit over time, so all that matter is your long-term results.

If you get all-in with a 75% chance to win you make money in the long run, but you still lose 25% of the time. You cant let the 25% keep you from the profits offered by the 75%.

When you play poker you have to make one decision after another. And every decision you make either helps you make money or it doesnt.

When you fold a starting hand of a 3 and 8 from an early position this helps you make money. It saves money that you can use to make more money when you have a better hand.

Your goal is to make the most profitable play every time you have to make a decision. You dont always know what the most profitable play is, but with experience, you can learn what plays to make and which ones to avoid.

The way you know how to make the most profitable play in every situation is to learn about expected value. The fact is that every decision you have to make when you play poker has an expected value.

The expected value can be negative or it can be positive. The key to being a professional poker player is making more decisions that have a positive expected value than ones that have a negative expected value.

Spend as much time as you need to learn how to determine the expected value and learn how to use it for every decision you make when you play poker.

Its always good to learn as much as you can from other people. This includes reading about things like poker strategy and watching others play. But learning from these sources can only do so much for you. Eventually, youre going to have to learn by playing.

You should continue learning from others as much as possible, but you also need to start investing serious time into putting what you learn into practice. If youre not spending at least 20 hours a week playing now, the odds are against you when youre suddenly playing 50 or 60 hours every week.

If you have the skills you need and want to give professional poker a shot, I wish you all the luck in the world. But theres no shame in deciding that you just want to play on a part-time basis. You might be just as profitable and enjoy life more if you can avoid the dreaded grind.

Most poker players have the ability to learn how to win, but they dont have the dedication to do whats required. Make sure you can win first, and then decide if youre willing to put in the long hours.
