Footage captured Tuesday on the anniversary of the death of George Floyd shows a Black Lives Matter demonstrator in Kansas City threatening to murder law enforcement.

Cause were tired of being shot and killed because were gonna get pulled over for air fresheners, the woman said. Im waiting for one of those motherf-ckers to pull me over. Cause, baby, where Im from, we dont give two f-cks about the police. Let them kill one of ours. Guess what we doing? We kill one of theirs in Chicago, baby, they continue. We gonna knock on your door. We gonna blow your motherf-cking head off.

Additional footage of the protest shows people in vehicles trying to make their way through the blocked-off intersection.

In addition to protests in Kansas City, police declared a riot in downtown Portland, Oregon, on Tuesday after rioters smashed windows and blocked traffic. Gunshots were fired in Minneapolis, where a festival had been planned, and caused reporters to scramble while live on-air. One person was reportedly injured in the incident.

Floyds family went to the White House to meet with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, as Democrats seek to pass the Justice in Policing Act, a bill that was received in the Senate in March. The measure would ban chokeholds, which Rafael Mangual, a senior fellow and deputy director of legal policy at the Manhattan Institute, previously told The Federalist is a bad move.

Obviously no one wants to see excessive force used on anyone when its not necessary, Mangual said, but the mere fact that weve had a handful of controversial cases involving chokeholds, Im not sure that that should justify a blanket ban, particularly when you consider the fact that there are going to be situations in which using that kind of neck restraint could probably mean less force than what might otherwise end up being used because an effective grappling technique was taken off the table. Proposals like that kind of failed to appreciate some of the nuance involved in policing.

Jenner Flips: Boys Who Start Trans Treatment Young Should Be Able To Play Girls’ Sports – The Federalist

Republican California gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner contradicted a previous claim that biological boys should not be permitted to compete in girls sports. Jenner said on Fox News Wednesday that boys who identified as girls at a very young age ought to be able to do so.

Im not running as a trans activist, Im running as a California citizen that has lived there for 48 years, said Jenner. What I would do as governor is I would put together a commission. Trans women compete in the Olympics, they compete in the NCAA, but when it gets down to the high school level, theres no guide rules, theres no rules and regulations how they can.

And trans women who are truly trans, who at a very young age, you know, started proper medical treatment, theyve grown up as girls of course, they should be able to compete in girls sports, Jenner said. But yeah, some guy who hasnt done any therapy, hasnt done anything, there has to be a review board. And I would be the first governor to put together a review board to review each case, Jenner added. Such a small issue. Its like a nonissue thats out there. And I would be surprised if theres 30 trans athletes in the entire state.

These remarks are in contrast with Jenners espoused position in early May. This is a question of fairness, the former gold-medal Olympian said less than one month ago. Thats why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls sports in school.

The candidate held an even different position in 2020. Every trans person should have an opportunity to compete in sports, Jenner said on a podcast at the time. And yeah, I want to, hopefully, theyll have the opportunity in the future to do whatever they can do. Im all for it. Im all for it.

Jenners campaign did not immediately respond to The Federalists request for clarification on the candidates position.

More Than 100 Colleges Are Requiring The COVID-19 Vaccine For Students On Campus This Fall – The Federalist

Hundreds of universities are choosing to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine for students and staff no matter their risk level or concerns about the shot.

Some schools are highly encouraging students and staff to get the COVID-19 vaccine while other universities are blowing past the potential legal issues that come with an immunization that only has emergency approval to mandate the shot for everyone who plans to enroll or set foot on campus. Vanderbilt University is one of the most recent colleges to join the ever-growing list of schools requiring the virus immunization shot.

Vanderbilt first sent an email to its students in mid-May informing them that they must receive the COVID-19 vaccine to return to the undergraduate and graduate programs in the fall.

To keep our community as safe as possible and help ensure our ability to continue to conduct in-person teaching and learning,we will require all new and returning students to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for the 202122 academic year, the email stated.

The university later clarified that all faculty, staff, and even postdoctoral fellows are also expected to be fully vaccinated before returning to the school in the fall 2021 semester. Those concerned about the vaccines lack of FDA approval are allowed to appeal for an exemption for medical or religious reasons but all requests for the exception must be submitted by June 15, giving students just one month before their options expired.

The Tennessee university never specified what would happen to students or staff who refuse to take the COVID shot, have their exemptions denied, or even how the school plans to validate that someone is vaccinated.

This lack of communication paired with the looming threat that they might be able to return to school is frustrating for some students like Carolyn Kraft who is still grappling with taking an ethically questionable vaccine for a virus that has significantly low chances of killing healthy people in her age group.

I am constructively indebted to the school, and so is anyone else who has taken more than one year at the school. At this point, my option is to take the backseator get kicked out or drop out and lose all the money all the time and effort I put into this university to get the degree that I worked so hard to get and thatI honestly deserve, the Vanderbilt law student told The Federalist.

Like many universities, Vanderbilt has its fair share of leftist professors who control narratives and push partisan agendas in their classrooms. Political educators combined with the social pressures created by activist students on campuses all around present a new challenge to incoming and also returning students who may have grown accustomed to attending in-person classes during the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters. It also dampens and even discourages healthy discussion and debate about the COVID-19 vaccine and Vanderbilts mandate and even scared some students away from speaking to the media about their skepticism.

A lot of people are scared of losing friends, Kraft told The Federalist. I dont really care if people dont like me because of my opinion, but some people, they just havent had to deal with people disliking them for their opinions before in their life so theyre really apprehensive about that. They want to be invited to social gatheringstheyre scared that theyre gonna not be employed. Theyre scared that theyre going to get a bad grade [if they speak out].

Kraft is not alone in her skepticism and worry. Surveys show mixed results when it comes to students willing to take the COVID vaccine, especially if it is required. Forced vaccinations also raise questions about the disproportionate effect universities could have by barring low-income students, who as a whole, tend to be more skeptical about the COVID-19 vaccine than other groups, from returning to school until they get their immunization.

In the early 60s, Roy Bates, a Major in the British army, established a radio station, situated offshore on an abandoned ex naval fort named Knock John. The theory behind this location was an attempt to bypass the draconian broadcasting restrictions of the time, which permitted little more than formal broadcasting by the BBC. Roys station, Radio Essex, and others like it, were known affectionately by the media as Pirate radio stations, and were much loved by the British public, as they supplied everything that the BBC did not at the time, Pop music and amusing presenters.

In the years than ensued, Roy fought an unsuccessful legal battle with the UK government, which questioned the legality of his occupation of said fort. It was ruled that Knock John fell under UK jurisdiction. Smarting from his setback, Roy weighed his options. Another abandoned fortress, Roughs Tower, identical in construction to the Knock John existed further offshore, and crucially, outside of the three mile limit to which the UK jurisdiction extended. Roy proceeded to occupy Roughs Tower, on Christmas eve 1966, with the intention of revitalising his dormant radio station. This was until he conjured a different plan entirely. After consulting his lawyers, Roy decided to declare this fortress island the independent state of Sealand, Claiming Jus Gentium (Law of Nations) over a part of the globe that was Terra Nullius (Nobodys Land).

On the 2nd of September 1967, accompanied by his wife Joan on her birthday, his son Michael (14), daughter Penelope (16) and several friends and followers, Roy declared the Principality of Sealand. The founding of this country was marked by the raising of a newly designed flag, and in an extremely romantic birthday gesture, the bestowing of a new title on his beloved wife, to be know from that moment on as Princess Joan.

Sunshine, sandy beaches and some 700 tropical islands make the Bahamas one of the most sought-after Caribbean retreats in the world. This haven for North American tourists is relatively easy to access for US and Canadian citizens; however, some rules do apply.

Most travelers with a valid US or Canadian passport that contains multiple blank pages and is well within its expiration date should have no trouble clearing customs in the Bahamas. Likewise, visitors from Latin America should be presented with few issues at the border. Still, these guidelines will help you earn that coveted passport stamp in the Bahamas and avoid any potential obstacles at your port of entry.

US citizens do not need a visa to visit the Bahamas. Canadian citizens who plan to stay less than eight months do not need a visa to visit the Bahamas.

Permanent US residents who are not American citizens must apply for a visa to the Bahamas for stays longer than 30 days. Additionally, a valid national passport is required. A green card is required for visits less than 30 days; however, a visa is not.

Canadian permanent residents may stay in the Bahamas for 30 days without a visa; however, they must bring a valid passport that expires no less than three months after their last day in the country.

If traveling directly from Canada, an original Canadian Permanent Resident card that expires no less than three months after their last day in the country is accepted. If traveling via another country, that card must expire no less than six months after their last day in the Bahamas. A return ticket is also required.

Citizens of Latin America are not required to carry a Bahamas visa is their stay is less than three months. They are required to have a return ticket and proof of lodging confirmation.

Indian nationals with a visa issued by Canada, the United Kingdom, United States or a Schengen Member State are not required to carry a Bahamas visa and may stay for a maximum of 90 days in country.

The Bahamas requires a visa for residents of 78 countries, a list of which begins on page six here. Notable nations include Egypt, Cuba, The Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, Laos, the Philippines, India, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Taiwan, Ukraine, UAE and Vietnam.

The average cost for a visa to the Bahamas is $110. Visas with biometric data cost around $250. Forms must be completed in block letters and must be submitted with supporting documents including a valid passport.

Requirements may also include a police report, flight itinerary, copies of previously held visas and foreign marriage and birth certificates. It is recommended that applicants contact the Bahamas Consulate Division before applying.

According to the government of the Bahamas, the turnaround time on visas can be up to two weeks.

The Bahamas Consulate General accepts extension applications for visas for up to eight months. Applicants must apply at the Bahamas Immigration Department in Nassau.

Know whether you need a yellow fever vaccination certificate or not.

Visitors over age one must carry a yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from a nation with a risk of yellow fever transmission. These are mostly nations in Latin America and Africa. Visitors who have transited through an airport in a nation with risk of yellow fever transmission for more than 12 hours must also carry a vaccination certificate valid for at least 10 days before entering the Bahamas.

Be mindful of credit card fraud in the Bahamas. The US Embassy has received reports of credit card fraud in the Bahamas. The embassy urges all US citizens to check their credit and debit accounts for unusual activity and notify card companies of fraudulent activity if found.

Over the last two seasons, coach Mark Pope has made BYU mens basketball relevant once again. And the Cougars are making sure they stay in the spotlight.

The Cougars have locked down a spot in what is annually one of the biggest early-season tournaments on the calendar, according to reports.

CBS Sports analyst Jon Rothstein was the first to report that BYU will join Kansas, Tennessee, USC, NC State, Wisconsin, Butler and Dayton in the 2022 Battle 4 Atlantis.

The tournament, which takes place the week of Thanksgiving, is played at Atlantis Paradise Island on Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas each year.

For the 2021-22 season, the Cougars have already signed on to participate in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu, Dec. 22-25. The field will include host Hawaii, Liberty, Northern Iowa, South Florida, Wyoming, Stanford and Vanderbilt.

BYU was supposed to head to the Bahamas in 2020 for the Junkaroo Jam, but the pandemic made a change to those plans. Instead, the Cougars played in the Roman Legends Classic, which was played in a bubble-like environment in Connecticut.

Seventh edition of Tour de Grand Bahama was a blast – Bahamas Tribune

THE seventh edition of the Tour de Grand Bahama was held over the weekend in Grand Bahama.

It was also used by the Bahamas Cycling Federation as one of the qualifiers for the national team that will represent the Bahamas at the Caribbean Cycling Championships, scheduled for July 15-17.

Federation secretary general Barron Turbo Musgrove praised Kenton Roker, the Grand Bahama Cycling Association and the Grand Bahama Cycling Club for putting on the event despite the restrictions from the coronavirus pandemic. The competition was fierce from start to finish with competitors from Spanish Wells, Eleuthera, New Providence, Grand Bahama and a four-man team from the Turks and Caicos Islands, Musgrove said. It was an exciting race from start to finish. It was like watching one of the major tours going on.

The routes were well-organised throughout the city of Freeport and a lot of persons were able to view the competition.

There were three stages of races that included the four-mile time trials on Saturday and two hours later there was a quadrium race.

On Sunday, the event concluded with a 60-mile road race.

Felix Neely from New Providence, Lorin Sawyer from Spanish Wells, Eleuthera took second and Kevin Daley from New Providence and Sean Rodgers from the Turks and Caicos Islands were tied for third and Lorenzo Carter was fifth.

In the Masters One category, Leeburgh Gibbs took the victory with Kavin Ewing second.

Kenton Roker third and Davaughn Williams finished fourth in the masters.

And in the Masters Two category, Kenneth Grant got the win over Ricardo Grant.

Sylvia the Beast Bateman from Grand Bahama emerged as the female winner.

She was followed in second place by Mary Missy Gibbs, also from Grand Bahama.

Smot ia Nono Moreau was third and Tannisha Grant got fourth.

The winners of the junior boys category were Ayden Bain, the overall champion, Launy Duncombe, second and Barron Musgrove Jr, third.

VACCINATION PROGRESS: More than 8600 fully vaccinated individuals in The Bahamas; over 46000 awaiting second dose – EyeWitness News

NASSAU, BAHAMAS According to the Ministry of Healths vaccine tracker released yesterday, there have been 55,037 doses of vaccines administered in The Bahamas to date, with 8,659 people being fully vaccinated with two doses.

Some 46,378 people have received one dose of the vaccine and are still awaiting the second dose required to become fully vaccinated.

On New Providence, 34,344 people have received their first dose while 7,051 are fully vaccinated; and on Grand Bahama, 6,796 people have received their first dose while 1,602 people are fully vaccinated.

As for the remaining Family Islands, 1,354 people have received first doses on Eleuthera, 874 on Abaco, 832 on Exuma, 603 on Andros, 398 on Bimini, 324 on Long Island, 289 on the Berry Islands, 252 on Cat Island, 129 on Inagua, 101 on San Salvador, 32 on Acklins, 21 on Crooked Island, 18 on Mayaguana and 11 on Rum Cay.

Three people on Cat Island and three people on Andros are fully vaccinated.

Health officials also confirmed 36 new cases of COVID-19 in The Bahamas on Saturday, taking the number of cases in the country to 11,796. Of the new cases, 30 were on New Providence, two on Grand Bahama, one on Abaco and three on Andros.

The number of active cases stands at 756, with 57 people currently hospitalized 54 of whom are moderately ill and three who are in the Intensive Care Unit.
