Congress Is Trying to Give Jeff Bezos’s Space Firm $10 Billion of Your Tax Dollars | Hannah Cox – Foundation for Economic Education
Posted: June 4, 2021 at 3:20 pm
Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are two of the richest men in the world, and while both are clearly brilliant titans of industry, neither of them achieved that status without multiple handouts from the government. Musks Tesla and SpaceX have received nearly $5 billion in government aid over the years in various formsgrants, environmental credits, tax breaks, discounted loans, and morewhile Amazon received more than $3.7 billion in taxpayer subsidies at the federal level alone.
Recently, the two men have been competing for another taxpayer-funded contracta NASA grant to put astronauts on the moon.
Last month, it was announced that Musks company, SpaceX would be awarded the contract after their bid came in at almost half the cost of Bezoss Blue Origins offer.
After the loss, Blue Origin and a third company in the running filed protests with the Government Accountability Office, but it seems that the review process may be bypassed thanks to the actions of federal lawmakers who are now angling to help Bezos receive a $10 billion contract anyway.
Thats right. Since Bezos lost the bid, lawmakers are scrambling to make a second grant, in addition to the contract awarded to SpaceX. To make that happen theyre working to pass an amendment to the Endless Frontier Actlegislation meant to increase scientific research and technology funding.
The amendment was added to the bill by Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), who happens to represent the state where Blue Origins is headquartered.
While the third company, Dynetics, would technically also be in the running for the new pot of cash, most seem to believe Bezos would be a shoo-in for it.
Despite its massive price tag, the legislation is being moved rapidly through Congress and appears to have broad bipartisan support.
A [Senate] procedural vote last week passed by a 71-27 margin, The Intercept reports, "and Senate Democratic leaders are eyeing a Thursday vote for final passage, after which it would need to move through the House of Representatives.
Disclosures show Blue Origin spent $625,000 lobbying the Senate between January and March of 2021. Reports show that $50,000 of that went to a team of lobbyists that focused on the moon landing program. All in all, thats a heck of a bargain in exchange for a $10 billion government contract.
Though the notoriety of Bezos and Musk is drawing attention to this particular handout, this is really just rank and file behavior for Congress, which spends much of its time doling out tax dollars to billionaires and corporations.
The federal government alone spends roughly $75 billion a year on subsidies to private businesses, and thats only scratching the surface. Boeing gets billions of dollars from states and Congress. Under the initial stimulus package of 2020 The Cheesecake Factory got $50 million. Nike has received more than $2 billion. On and on it goes.
Theres no easy way to fully measure the dollar amount of corporate handouts across federal, state, and city budgetsmuch less the amount of corporate welfare given via other means like selective tax breaks or regulatory favoritism.
As Charles Koch once said, Subsidies and mandates are just two of the privileges that government can bestow on politically connected friends. Others include grants, loans, tax credits, favorable regulations, bailouts, loan guarantees, targeted tax breaks and no-bid contracts.
Corporate welfare is a form of cronyism, and it is a direct attack on free market capitalism. It allows the government to pick winners and losers and it is flatly wrongethically and economically.
In her seminal novel Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand wrote, When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothingWhen you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favorsWhen you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws dont protect you against them, but protect them against youWhen you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrificeYou may know that your society is doomed.
When the government interferes in the market it limits competition, often rewards people for bad business practices, reduces consumer choice, stifles innovation, and forces taxpayers to fund products and programs against their will. It is a complete perversion of a free market system, and the fact is neither Bezos or Musk should receive public dollars for their space exploration desires.
Its time we stop bailing out billionaires.

Noida: Man faces NSA proceedings for selling fake remdesivir injections and fraud – The Indian Express
Posted: at 3:19 pm
Noida administration has initiated National Security Act (NSA) proceedings against a man accused of black marketing essential Covid medicines. According to Noida Police, accused Rachit Ghai was caught in April for selling fake remdesivir injections.
The medicine was being sold to families in desperate need since it had been prescribed as a life saving drug by hospitals. The arrest was made by the Noida Crime Branch and a case had been filed in Sector 20 Police Station.
The accused Rachit Ghai had been arrested for selling remdesivir injections at a price higher than the market rate. On further investigation it was found that the injections were fake. The nature of the crime is such that it endangers lives of common citizens because of which the NSA proceedings have been initiated, said a Sector 20 police official.
Rachit had gotten possession of more than 100 vials of Remdesivir through illegal channels, said police. The accused contacted families of patients through WhatsApp and offered them a direct supply of the medicine that was in high demand back in April. He had also posted messages of the injection availability on Facebook to gain customers, police said. The injection was being sold at a cost of approximately Rs 40,000, police said.
The injection samples had been sent for further examination to the local drug controller facility and it was found that the vials did not contain actual Remdesivir medicine.
An FIR was filed against Rachit for alleged fraud and under relevant sections of the Epidemic Act in Sector 20 Police Station.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had stated a no tolerance policy against those who indulged in black marketing of Covid 19 medicines. The state government had also ensured NSA proceedings against those accused of fraud.

Gorakhpur DM threatens scribe to slap NSA for report on Muslims ‘eviction’ from land near Gorakhnath temple – National Herald
Posted: at 3:19 pm
Gorakhpur DM K Vijayendra Pandian on Wednesday allegedly threatened a Delhi-based journalist of imprisonment under the NSA after he called up Pandian to take official version of a story relating to alleged forceful eviction of 11 Muslim families residing near the famous Gorakhnath temple in the city.
Masihuzzama Ansari, who works with a news portal named Indiatomorrow.in, told National Herald that Pandian enquired about his religion and then, in an insulting tone, threatened to slap the NSA on him for creating enmity between two communities.
In an audio clip of the purported telephone conversation, Pandian allegedly says, You also have a Muslim name...Rise above your religion Ansari.
Ansari claimed that when he told Pandian that he had called him up to ascertain the facts and take the official version, the DM allegedly said, Why are you giving it a religious tone? They (Muslim families) are giving up their lands on their own. They have signed a consent letter.
Ansari contended that he called Pandian on Wednesday evening to ascertain whether the Muslims had agreed to sell their land on their own or were forced to sign the consent papers as alleged in certain quarters.

NSA grads start a new adventure – The Suffolk News-Herald – Suffolk News-Herald

On a sunny Friday morning, the class of 2021 at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy walked across the stage to celebrate 13 years of hard work.
High school graduation is a day that students look forward to for years. Luckily for the class of 2021, the day came and was as normal as 2021 would allow.
A total of 60 graduates cheered, laughed and reminisced on how they made it to this celebratory day as well as their resilience during the past two school years.
I honestly didnt think I would be able to speak to you today, said Katherine Luzzatto, student council president. But here we are in person, and I get to welcome you to the graduation of the class of 2021.
Luzzatto looked back on the 13 years she has spent with her class at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy as they remembered memories and celebrated accomplishments.
Between Fifty Nifty and our last day water balloon fight, with state titles won in softball and lacrosse, the robotics team heading to the world championships; accolades in band, chorus and visual arts; eight students off to play sports in college, scholarships and exceptional college admissions, this class has not failed to leave its mark at NSA, Luzzatto said.
Salutatorian Frances Hope also noted the bond the class has as they have given the teachers and staff at the school much grief. Her speech efficiently recounted what made this class so unique.
We will forever be known as the class of 2021, who made more teachers quit than any others, Hope said to the laughter of her peers. But more importantly, the class that overcame the most struggles to get where we are all with a smile on our faces. Congratulations everyone, we survived.
Valedictorian Arya Barot took time to thank those who made a difference behind the scene in each graduates life to help them get to where they are as they take this leap into adulthood.
To all of you in the audience, the Michelangelos who have lovingly made of us a sculpture from a slab of marble, he said. We are forever indebted to you as we continue to be chiseled into the Davids we are destined to become. We vow to live our lives in deep gratitude honoring your love, cherishing your blessings. May God continue to bless each of us on the journey forward.
The commencement speaker was Charles Chuck Culpepper, a sports writer for The Washington Post and a 1980 NSA graduate. His job has taken him all over the world with many great experiences. He used these experiences to give the class of 2021 60 bits of advice for the graduating class of 60.
The advice included: attend all classes and parties in college; watch the sunset in Africa; mutter the word adventure when in a new situation; when in Washington, D.C., visit at least one veterans memorial; try new things that may make you uncomfortable; learn how to apologize; what others say about you isnt your business; ride your bike around Vancouver; visit large sporting events; meet new people and learn from them; ride a camel if given a chance; spend little time as possible on Twitter; and screw-ups can be a beginning.
Fear is normal, and this is bit of advice number 60 fear is normal and fear is everywhere, but as you go along in life, try to shed fear, Culpepper said. I wish you so much adventure and vividness and light.
The class of 2021 left the field to a rendition of When the Saints Go Marching In. Just like the song, the Saints went marching into a new phase of life, ready to face their next adventure.

Islamabad severs ties with Afghan NSA for terming Pakistan as ‘brothel house’ – Hindustan Times
Posted: at 3:19 pm
Islamabad severed ties with Hamdullah Mohib, the National Security Advisor of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan for terming Pakistan as "brothel house".
Early this month, in a public speech in Nangarhar province, Afghanistan National Security Chief, Hamdullah Mohib called Pakistan a "brothel house", reported The Khaama Press News Agency.
A senior Pakistani official privy to the matter told VOA on condition of anonymity his government would not hold bilateral engagements with the Afghan national security adviser over his recent remarks against Islamabad, reported The Khaama Press News Agency.
The Pakistani official added that Islamabad had shared its "strong protest" with the Afghan government in connection with the remarks.
Last week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan released a statement in connection with the remark and counted it as a "baseless allegation". They also added that such remarks undermine trust and mutual understanding between Islamabad and Kabul, reported The Khaama Press News Agency.
The controversy highlighted political tensions and historic mistrust plaguing relations between the South Asian neighbours, which share a nearly 2,600-kilometer border.

The latest trigger came after Hamdullah Mohib, who routinely accuses Pakistan and its spy agency of supporting and directing the Taliban's in Afghanistan, charges Islamabad rejects, reported VOA.
His remarks sparked outrage among leaders in Islamabad, who denounced them, saying they "debased all norms of interstate communication."
Meanwhile, Mohib added that Pakistani tribes, including Pashtuns and Balochis are not happy with their country's government, adding that Pashtuns and Balochis are fighting for their rights.
Mohib's remarks about Islamabad came just days before after Pakistan's military chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Kabul and had a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani in the presence of Nick Carter, Britain's Chief of the Defense Staff.
Office of The National Security Council has not yet commented on the mater, reported The Khaama Press News Agency.

Slurpee And A Parlay? 7-Eleven Among Michigan Gambling Deposit Options – Play Michigan
Posted: at 3:17 pm
Anyone who watches television, listens to the radio or otherwise exists in Michigan is quite familiar with the arms race online gambling operators are fighting to gain new customers.
But under the surface, theres also competition in business-to-business circles throughout the industry.
One contested subsection of the sector is online gambling payment options. New companies, partnerships and digital options are popping up by the week.
Plus, you can now fund your Michigan sports betting bankroll while getting a Slurpee at 7-Eleven, or pad your MI online casino account while filling a CVS prescription.
While you cant place bets with local store clerks, you can now fund some gambling accounts at all 7-Eleven, CVS and Family Dollar through PayNearMe.
PayNearMe retail deposits were approved recently in Michigan by the Michigan Gaming Control Board and the option was live Thursday with FanDuel Casino.
Jeremy Enke of PayNearMe said several operators will have PayNearMe options available.
You cant create add to your online gambling payment options through retailers. But through your account, head to the Cashier section to find the PayNearMe option.
There, you select the amount you will deposit (up to $500 at FanDuel) and print a barcode, or have it sent to your phone. You can look up the nearest retailer through the FanDuel cashier while planning your deposit.
To be clear, after depositing money at retailers, you would place the actual bet through the gambling app or website, not your local cashier.
With online gambling launching Jan. 22 in Michigan, operators were accepting money however they could. That process meant making deals with a handful of payment companies.
But as the market matures, operators are looking for one-stop payment providers that can provide customers with all options.
PayNearMe aims to fill that void, Enke said.
From a company standpoint, being on the forefront of what operators need, Enke said. And more importantly, from a players perspective.
The speed of transactions is increasing industry-wide, Enke said, adding that PayNearMes push-to-debit withdrawal product offers a same-day cycle on deposits, bets and withdrawals.
PayNearMe already offers Apple Pay and Google Pay options, Enke said, and will soon add PayPal and Venmo options.
Enke said PayNearMe is also exploring the reverse of whats now available, enabling customers to pick up cash at local retailers through account withdrawals.
One competitor has moved toward streamlining, as Paysafe announced Thursday an expanded partnership with Golden Nugget Online Casino in Michigan.
Paysafe allows Golden Nugget players to link online banking accounts and fund accounts with credit and debit cards. Golden Nugget players can also use PayPal and Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions through Global Payments Gaming Solutions.
Paysafe, which has been partnered in New Jersey with Golden Nugget since the 2013 online launch there, said it will launch with the operator in West Virginia and Pennsylvania later this year.
Like every U.S. iGaming operator, getting payments right has always been an important focus for us, said Thomas Winter, president of Golden Nugget Online Gaming. Our partnership with Paysafe in New Jersey has helped us streamline and improve payments for us and our customers, and so when we chose to enter the bigger market of Michigan, extending the partnership was an easy choice that made sound business sense.
Paysafe and PayNearMe have a wide range of competitors authorized in Michigan, including Skrill, Sightline Payments and OBeP Payments, among others.
Different companies offer different services, and operators are trying to figure out the best solutions for online gambling payment options in real time.
It it a little bit of a disjointed market right now, Enke said. Thats where were seeing now, 2021 and beyond, is how do we make this easier for operators? The past few years, its just been a land grab.
But stepping back a little, theyre like, Why are we working with six different payment providers, with six or seven different reconciliations at the end of the month?
We saw that as an opportunity about a year or so ago to come in and say, heres a problem with the gaming industry right now that is not necessarily transparent on the players side. But a lot of the bigger companies we talk to, (bringing all payments under one company) is resonating very well with them.
Many operators, including BetRivers Casino, DraftKings Casino and FanDuel, also offer prepaid Play+ credit cards as an option.
Another competitor for PayNearMes cash depositing, which is what Enke said put the company on the map, is retail casinos.
FanDuel recently ran a 50% matching bonus promotion for funds deposited in-person at the FanDuel Sportsbook at MotorCity Casino cage in Detroit.
To be eligible, it needed to be your first Cash at Counter deposit. There was a $250 maximum bonus for the promotion, and bonus funds needed to be wagered within a week.
The promotion has ended, but you can still link your MotorCity Casino Club Metro card to your FanDuel account. There, you can rack up Signature Points, comps and more, according to the FanDuel site.

Betting On In-State College Games In NJ Seems Headed To The Voters – NJ Online Gambling
Posted: at 3:17 pm
After three years of widespread legal sports betting, New Jersey-based gamblers on Thursday grew ever closer to being able to bet on Rutgers football games, Seton Hall basketball contests, and other competitions involving state schools.
The state Senate in a three-hour session punctuated by occasional angry political comments from lawmakers and by loud protests outside the Senate chambers that could be heard on a Zoom feed passed a continuing resolution to approve a statewide sports betting referendum this fall.
The vote was 36-1, with conservative Republican Michael Doherty of Warren County the lone no vote. Resolution co-sponsor Paul Sarlo, D-Bergen, told NJ Online Gamblingafter the vote that his colleagues in the state Assembly have assured him that the full Assembly would put the measure up for a vote before the end of June.
That timing is important for several reasons. The technical review for ballot questions and the need to print ballots well in advance of the Nov. 2 elections means that lawmakers say the legislature needs to pass the resolutions by mid-year.Also, the legislature traditionally takes the months of July and August off completely, adding to the urgency.
The resolution, which was first introduced last October, runs just six pages.
Wagering shall not be permitted on a college sport or athletic event that takes place in New Jersey or on a sport or athletic event in which any New Jersey college team participates regardless of where the event takes place, the law already reads, with the amendment adding, except that it shall be lawful for the Legislature to authorize by law wagering at casinos or gambling houses in Atlantic City on the results of any college sport or athletic event that is a tournament, playoff, championship, or other postseason competition that takes place in New Jersey, including any such event in which a New Jersey college team participates, and that is sanctioned by a nonprofit collegiate athletic association led by its members.
Another new clause clarifies that the states three racetracks and its mobile sports betting partners will have the same new options.
The interpretive statement proposed for the ballot that many voters will rely on is scheduled to read:
Currently, the State Constitution prohibits wagering on college sport or athletic events taking place in New Jersey. It also prohibits wagering on an event in which a New Jersey college team participates. This amendment would allow the Legislature to pass laws permitting wagering on any college sport or athletic event.
It would permit wagering even if a New Jersey college team participates in the competition. Such wagering would be permitted only through casinos and current or former horse racetracks.
The only late-2021 sport that might interest the almost two dozen mobile sportsbooks in the state would be Rutgers football, the states only top-level program in that sport.
The Scarlet Knights will play eight of their 12 regular-season games, however, before the vote is even taken.
Also, even if the issue lands on the Nov. 2 ballot and even if it passes, lawmakers would have to establish enabling legislation before the first college bets are taken.
The widespread support for legal gambling expansion measures dates back even before 2013, when New Jersey joined Delaware as the first states to permit online casino gaming.
But even with a willing legislature, the Nov. 6 game against Wisconsin and another at Indiana a week later would seem to be unlikely legal betting targets. That would just leave the Nov. 20 game at Penn State and the home finale vs. Maryland on Nov. 27.
How quickly the required legislation passes and goes to Gov. Phil Murphys desk realistically may depend on how well the Scarlet Knights season has gone. But if the team wins at least half its games, Rutgers would wind up in a postseason bowl game likely in late December or the first week of January.
When Sarlo looked into ways around the previous in-state college prohibition last year, he initially merely sought to pave the way for out-of-state visitors who come to the Prudential Center in Newark for mens college basketball March Madness in 2025.
But Sarlo found that, a few years after New Jersey defeated the NCAA and four pro sports leagues at the U.S. Supreme Court to open the door for any state to feature Las Vegas-style legal sports betting, opposition from both the NCAA and the college athletic programs in the state had all but disappeared.
So Sarlos goal for the launch of in-state college betting has centered more on next springs so-called Madness, with the state having eight eligible mens basketball programs.
The ban on in-state games, former state Sen. Ray Lesniak has said, came about because a decade ago he was anxious to get a sports betting law passed for the specific purpose of luring the sports organizations to sue. Lesniak was convinced he would prevail in court and while it took six years, he was right.
The 2011 referendum allowing racetracks and Atlantic City casinos to feature sports betting in spite of a 1992 federal law that expressly barred such activity outside of Nevada was approved by nearly a 2-to-1 margin. With New Jersey having taken in more in sports bets than any other state in the past three years including Nevada at $15 billion in three full years, and without significant negative publicity about the gambling, this latest ballot question seems like close to a sure thing for passage.
The state Senate unanimously approved another bill on Thursday that revamps the way that promotional gaming credits are taxed.
Under the bill, the first $12 million of promotional gaming credits for Internet sports wagering issued by all casinos and racetracks that hold a sports wagering license would still be taxed, but any amount in excess would be deductible from the gross revenues for Internet sports wagering.
Bill proponents hope that the states larger mobile sportsbook operators such as PointsBet or FanDuel will be incentivized to expand their efforts to market to potential new players. Thats because beyond the $12 million spending mark, no additional tax is levied.
And a new gambler who signs up, for example, for a promotion where they deposit $500 and the operator matches that amount into their account presumably, in the long run, becomes a revenue-producer for the operator leading, in turn, to more tax revenue for the state.
Another bill that passed without a dissenting vote in the Senate on Thursday permits bingo games and raffles to be held remotely rather than only in-person. The bill was introduced last summer amid the COVID-19 pandemic and passed the Assembly in March, and will land on Murphys desk even as the pandemic continues to wane.
Doherty, who was opposed to the 2013 online casino gaming bill that became law, was the lone no vote Thursday on a bill that provides some temporary tax relief to Atlantic City casinos that were hit hard by pandemic-related closures and then only partial reopenings.
Finally, a horse racing bill was cleared out of a Senate committee on Thursday morning, hours before the full Senate votes.
That bill, backed by the states horsemen, would require continuation of live harness racingfor standardbred racetracks that hold a sports wagering license sort of a harness racing insurance policy.
The Meadowlands Racetrack and Freehold Raceway would be required to offer at least 151 racing dates annually to continue to take sports bets, except that the annual number of scheduled standardbred race dates may be decreased to no fewer than 75 standardbred race dates upon written consent from the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey.
The Legislature recognizes the importance of the horse racing industry to this State, which includes generating millions of dollars in agribusiness and tax revenue, thousands of jobs, and support for thousands of acres of productive agricultural open space.
This bill seeks to protect this industry and the benefits to the State of racingrelated training and breeding farms by ensuring the continuation of live horse racing for racetracks that operate sports pools. The bill is limited to standardbred racetracks only, in recognition of the inherent incentive to continue live horse racing that exists when a horsemens association operates the racetrack, as is currently the case with thoroughbred racetracks.
Two weeks ago, a pair of state Assembly committees advanced a bill that would allow for fixed odds wagering on horse race bets placed in the state.
The new method, unlike the traditional parimutuel model, sets the exact odds that a bettor will receive at the moment of the wager just as is the case with sports betting. Fixed odds wagering has proven very popular in Australia and in the United Kingdom, but many racetrack officials have expressed concerns that it might cannibalize parimutuel handle while also spinning off less revenue for the tracks.
A source familiar with the bill told NJ Online GamblingThursday that the states thoroughbred and standardbred industry leaders continue to negotiate revenue-sharing for fixed odds a topic that grew mildly contentious during one of those remote May 19 committee hearings.
Still, the goal is for votes in both chambers as soon as possible, given that Monmouth Park officials who at least initially would go along with fixed odds would like to have the betting in place ahead of the $1 million TVG.com Haskell Stakes race day at the Oceanport track on July 17.

Playing with an Online Casino? Here are 7 Facts to Know – The Jerusalem Post
Posted: at 3:17 pm
Believe it or not, the concept of online casinos has revolutionized how we gamble today. All your favorite casino games are just a few seconds away sign in via your smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection, and you are ready to get started from anywhere in the world.
While the temptation of online casinos might seem irresistible, it is important that you do your homework right. Here are seven facts that you should know about online casinos.
1. Know their Withdrawal Policy
It is relatively straightforward to get started with an online casino. Sign up and make an initial deposit via PayPal, credit card, or cryptocurrency and you can start playing your first game easily. But when it comes to withdrawing your winning amount, they may have a stringent policy. They have different withdrawal schedules and it may take days to process the request. Some online casinos would also require you to withdraw money only when you have a certain amount in your PayPal account.
2. Love Slots? Online Casino is the Way to Go
For slot enthusiasts, online casinos offer an enthralling experience you have literally unlimited space to spin the reel, unlike land-based casinos where you have space restrictions. More interestingly, you have thousands of games to choose from and in different denominations. This further increases your chances of enjoying a game. Additionally, youll love how smoothly you can switch from one game to another.
3. Winning Odds do Match Land-Based Casinos
4. You have Tons of Free Games Online
One of the best things about online casinos is you have a wide range of games to play for free. Yes; you heard that right. Free games! Since gambling in casino games come with a risk, it is better to get started with free games to gain more experience. This will help you learn the game better and avoid costly mistakes before you play for real money. So, instead of bleeding money without knowing a game, playing for free can help extend the bankroll.
5. Not all Online Casinos are Legalized
Before you rush to sign up with an online casino and make an initial deposit, make sure you have thoroughly read and understood the states laws pertaining to an online casino. While most states have legalized online casino gambling, there are many that still operate in the grey area. Therefore, it is important to be careful when choosing an online casino.
6. Online Casinos have a Higher Return to Player Percentage
Earlier we have discussed that game odds in an online casino are quite similar to that in land-based casinos. Most of the time, this is true, especially for slots. Secure Your Online Gambling Sessions with These Easy Steps – TechSpective

Online gambling has seen an all-time rise in recent years, thanks to the current global situation. And with many online gambling sites like CasinoBernie free spins seeing constant high traffic, they have become a prime target for hackers and scammers alike. To secure your online casino moments, I prepared some simple and practical steps you can do that will give you peace of mind.
Whether youre into sports betting or online casino games, its important to check the legitimacy of the site youre playing at. Nothing feels worse than losing not only your winnings but your bank savings as well.
Some of the things you can look out for on an online gambling or betting site are:
When an online gambling site does not meet some or most of these marks, take it as a red flag and look for another site to play at.
Virtual Private Networks or VPNs are a great way to keep your IP address masked while giving you access to online casinos that could be geo-restricted in your location. Most VPN providers also offer fast internet access, Wi-Fi protection, and strong data encryption, ensuring your play sessions wont lag anytime soon.
With a VPN, you can change your location to almost anywhere in the world and transfer your web traffic to that locations server, making it difficult for potential hackers to track you down. However, before going using a VPN to access these sites, make sure to check your local laws regarding online gambling activity to avoid legal issues.
Along with using VPN servers, it is also important to keep your devices security programs up to date. Some unwanted people could get access to your device through spyware that is downloaded via an illegitimate gambling site.
Most devices have preinstalled antivirus, antispyware, and firewall protection programs, though they might be outdated if not regularly maintained. You can also subscribe to reputable antivirus providers in the market, with some even offering high-end protection to secure your devices while playing your favorite online casino games.
Phishing is a popular trick in the book for online scammers and hackers, wherein they use the identity of a legitimate institution to get your personal information. In this case, you may receive some emails or text messages that say theyre from the online casino you recently visited. The messages will ask for your details, including login, password, and even your credit card number, with a promise of rewards or cash backs.
When you see messages like this, you better disregard the message or contact the site directly to check. Always remember that legitimate companies will never ask for your personal information over email or text messages, especially your password or credit card details. Additionally, check the website it redirects you to and compare it with the site it claims to be. Chances are, they will be a bit off.
Staying safe when playing online casino games or online betting lets you enjoy the sessions without worrying about your security. By taking these simple steps, you are one step closer to making the most out of your time and winning your games.
