In any regard, these holdings play a large role when it comes to how the individual investor deploys their capital. In many cases, a companys dividend can be fleeting. Many end up needed to cut the dividend because the business environment became too difficult, because a recession occurred or cash flows tightened. In many cases, these companies may not eliminate the dividend. The company has made its dividend raise a habit at this point, with more than six decades of consecutive increases. Investors can count on the sun rising in the east, setting in the west and Procter & Gamble raising its dividend each year. Over the years, Procter & Gamble has cemented itself as a staple in the consumer packaged goods business. The company has found a way into nearly every corner of the consumers home. Whether thats paper towels or toilet paper, baby wipes or diapers, tampons, toothpaste, razor blades, shampoo, laundry detergent, dish soap you name it. These products are essential. It doesnt matter if were in a booming economy or a deep recession. Either way, consumers are still going to use deodorant and brush their teeth. Thus, P&G has raised its dividend for decades on end. Look for that to continue. 3M Co (MMM) Source: josefkubes / Shutterstock.com Consecutive Annual Dividend Raises: 63 3M Company doesnt lag far beyond Procter & Gamble in the dividend department. Kicking out a 3.1% dividend yield and this one is on income investors radar. This stock has not had the best performance, though. While shares are up nicely from the March 2020 low, they remain about 26% off the all-time high, set in January 2018. The stock was locked in a multi-year downtrend before the novel coronavirus swept around the world. 3M has not been firing on all cylinders, although the industrial and consumer goods company has really turned things around lately. Analysts expect decent growth, too. Revenue forecasts call for growth of 6.7% and 4% this year and next year, respectively. Thats alongside roughly 10% and 9% earnings growth estimates in those years, respectively. 7 Great Stocks to Buy Under $10 Shares trade at a reasonable 20 times earnings. Thats not a bad valuation for this type of growth and the dependability that comes with 3Ms dividend. Further, the stock is taking out last years high and looks to have some decent momentum on the technical side. Federal Realty Trust (FRT) Source: Shutterstock Consecutive Annual Dividend Raises: 53 Federal Realty is one of the most interesting names on this list, in my humble opinion. Over the years, Federal Realty has become one of the most coveted blue-chip REITs in the business. With more than five decades of consecutive dividend increases, theres not many companies in the industry that can challenge FRT. When we run into dividend stocks with this many years of consecutive increases, it can be hard to find a meaty payout. Despite the rebound weve seen in the stock price Federal Realty is up 62% from the 2020 lows it still has a solid yield of 4.1%. This diversified real estate player has a proven history of strong operations and dependable income. To put this stocks yield in a bit more perspective, FRT hasnt had a yield north of 3.6% in the past 10 years. That is, until 2020. Given the beating that the REIT space took last year, it looks like a solid opportunity for long-term investors. Not only is J&J a dependable dividend stalwart with almost six decades of consecutive pay increases, its a staple in the healthcare sector, too. With multiple business units within this space, J&J has its patients covered. Whether thats medical equipment in the hospital or at-home care via Tylenol and Band-Aids, the companys products are dependable. The company has a foothold in the pharma space, medical devices and consumer products all with relatively wide-ranging reach. Its one reason this stock commands a $432 billion market capitalization. However, its latest accomplishment may be one of the most commendable. J&J has developed a vaccine for Covid-19. Its now one of three companies vaccinating against the vaccine here in the U.S., joining Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) and Moderna (NASDAQ:MRNA). While the U.S. has tremendous vaccination momentum, the rest of the world isnt quite there yet. That should pave a nice runway for companies like Johnson & Johnson as its ramps up production. 7 Great Stocks to Buy Under $10 With that in motion, investors can turn their attention to the companys next dividend hike likely due up in April. Lowes (LOW) Source: Helen89 / Shutterstock.com Consecutive Annual Dividend Raises: 58 The momentum in the housing market is breathtaking. Low interest rates, supply chain disruptions due to Covid-19, an exodus out of larger cities and rent moratorium have allowed the housing market to boom. Thats been a major catalyst for home improvement retailers like Lowes. As with J&J, the company is just a few years shy of six consecutive decades of dividend increases. So not only can we count on Lowes for solid execution, but we can also expect a bump to the dividend each year. While revenue growth is stagnating, the earnings growth is there. Analysts expect the bottom line to increase almost 10% this year, followed by an acceleration up to 13.7% growth in 2022. Unlike many dividend stocks, this name has been enjoying a huge rally over the past year. Shares are fresh off new all-time highs and have surged from the 2020 lows, up about 225%. Obviously no one expects Lowes to repeat that performance in the next 12 months. But its shown that there is serious demand for this dividend stalwart, although it now yields just 1.25% after the stocks run. I guess thats the price you pay after a stock has tripled in less than a year. The company is a long-held stalwart when it comes to investing. Its slow and steady nature has won the appraise of millions including Warren Buffett. While it may not be a high-flying tech stock, Coca-Colas consistency over the years has won over many investors. On the verge of 60 consecutive dividend raises will help in that regard. In fact, because of Coca-Cola stock, the small town of Quincy, Florida, became filled with millionaires. They were busy gobbling up shares of stock during the depression, at the urging of one of the towns trusted bankers. 7 Great Stocks to Buy Under $10 This year is setting up as a good one for the company, too. Analysts expect 11.2% revenue growth and almost 10% earnings growth. If Coca-Cola has proven anything whether its a depression in the 1920s or a pandemic in 2020 it can survive just about anything thrown its way. I absolutely love this stock, because it emphasizes just how well investors can do if theyre patient and stick with quality over the long haul. Shares are up more than 3,200% in the last 30 years and 30,000% in the last 50 years. Granted, those are incredibly long hold times compared to the average investor. However, it emphasizes just how much wealth a great company can produce over several decades. Not to turn this into a stat-fest, but I think its an important reminder of what dividends can do. If we shift our focus from the stock-price return such as the returns I mentioned above to total return, meaning it includes the dividends, then those 30-year and 50-year returns explode to 5,600% and 56,400%, respectively. Despite all that strength, the company is still going strong. Consensus estimates call for 19.5% earnings growth this year and 9.5% growth next year. Heres to the next 50 years of stellar returns. Sculptor Dr Gindi: I Revel in the Physical Aspect of Humanity, but also in the Psyche of the Fleshy Nature – Influencive

A trained medical doctor, Dr Gindi models her three-dimensional figures by revealing the multiple levels of infinity inherent in our existence. She is an Art Salon 2021 finalist for her recent work Transfigured Immortality. Dr Gindi is living and working in Switzerland.

1. What inspired you to work as sculptor as you were associated with the medical field?

I was educated as medical doctor. The more time I spent working as physician, the more I wanted to create art to reflect on what I was experiencing, particularly the essence of physical fragility. I learned that our preconscious and unconscious desires are buried deep below the surface. Connecting human anatomy with the anachronism of the human psyche became the lexicon of my work and the monad of me as a sculptor I am a sculptor dedicated to model the infinity of our existence.

As a sculptor, I want to break free from the constraints of the rational mind. Educated in classic sculpting two decades after my initial foray into medicine I now oscillate between references in the material world and the intended depth of universal oblivion.

2. Does your training as a medical doctor helped you as a sculptor?

My training as a medical doctor and study of human anatomy might have led to higher levels of purity in my sculptures. The inner elements that impart authenticity are almost naturally evolving into morphological structures. As a result, my works do not represent the depiction of lifeless specimens; rather I aspire to explore the essence of the way we are.

The human is always in the centre of my creative musings I revel in the physical aspect of humanity, but also in the psyche of the fleshy nature. The finer elements that impart authenticity are almost naturally accomplished and thus compelling in and of themselves. As an artist, I then apply the intertwined processes that create both human subjects and human objects.

3. Could you describe your style of work?

Sculpture is a world of three-dimensional media enabling to step into the viewers world in a very direct and physical way. When you witness sculpture, you dont just experience it from one perspective, you view it from multiple angles like a thousand compositions mould into one, you also relate to it differently. It is probably one of the oldest art forms to exist, rooting itself as a widespread practice even in the ancient Nile Valley Civilisation. In ancient times, sculptures played a significant part in documenting life.

Talking about my own style, I start to work with pieces of clay. I am going to form the first contours, put further bits of clay on, the figure grows in front of my eyes. This process is mostly intuitive. The bend of a bone, the edge of a drape, the texture of a surface.

Very much depending on the mood for the day. It rarely happens that the first touch becomes the finished sculpture. I know that I and my sculpture are going to transform during this whole process, but I just start somehow, somewhere. As paradoxical it may sound: I am not making the sculpture, the sculpture makes itself and surprises me, with blazing intensity.

4. Why do you favor bronze in your sculptures?

I currently mostly work with bronze, starting with the anatomical modelling of the subject in clay. I choose bronze for its perenniality and its vibrational traits, as well as its ability to lock and reveal placed ardour. There is something intrinsically sensual about bronze, especially the alloy.

You can touch the skin of your sculptures, it is part of you and it embodies and imbues the personality and lustre of the spectator. Bronze has an eerie element of perseverance it can last for thousands of years and ages gracefully, acquiring with time a variety of finishes due to the intensity of the patina and how it interacts with the environment. The alchemy of patination symbolizes the very transient nature of being.

5. What were your idea behind exploring infinity?

I have been interested in creative expressions in one form or another for as long as I can remember. While infinity caught my imagination even during my younger years, I began dwelling upon it deeply as a freshwoman in medical school.

We are all bound together by the human question of origin and destiny. Over the years, my experience in both science and life has taught me that our existence and options are infinite if we allow them to be. Submitting to fate and having a sense of resignation can often be the norm, but if we can metamorphosize these attitudes, we will be able to model the infinity of our existence.

Transfigured Immortality is a current work that explores an area that is on the periphery of infinity. It is one that most humans, since antiquity, will no doubt have pondered upon of bequeathing a legacy. It depicts a female pharaonic character in the prime of her life, leaning on her last place of rest. Anticipating her death, she is shaping the future with a sense of purpose.

This piece originated in a phase of mourning after the death of a close Egyptian relative. I wanted to explore the essence of infinity omnipresent in ancient Egyptian mythology. Death is not the end of life but rather the assumption of a different dimension. By realizing and grasping the ultimate infinity inherent with our own life we can live fearlessly and vigorously.

The James Webb Telescope will see the beginning of time – DealMakerz

Later this year, the James Webb Telescope will be launched into space. With its large gold-coated mirror and infrared capability, the telescope will examine the formation of the first galaxies.

The universe is thought to be about 13.8 billion years old, and the James Webb Telescope (Webb) was built to see the birth of the first stars and galaxies.

Looking back in time, Webb will measure light from distant celestial bodies in the universe. Light travels at a speed of about 300,000 kilometers per second, but the light to be examined comes from celestial bodies so distant that it was still being sent for several billion years.

As the universe expands, the light moving in the universe is pulled out and has a longer wavelength. And if a celestial body moves away from the Earth at the same time as it is radiating toward us, then the wavelengths are being pulled out as well.

This means that the light webb should be measured toward and within the infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, it becomes Redshift. So the web is primarily built to observe infrared light and has a sensitivity of wavelengths between 600-28500nm.

The sun, earth, moon and even the telescope itself can create background noise in the measurements because the thermal radiation from these measurements is present in the infrared. So Webb has a great heat shield 300 square meters It is protection from thermal radiation. It consists of five layers, as thick as plastic sheets, separated from each other to avoid the transfer of heat from one layer to another.

The Webb Heat Shield gives a warm and cool side. The warm side, always facing the sun, should maintain a temperature of around 85 C. Here you will find, among other things, a computer, antennas, and a satellite controller.

The cold side, shielded from the sun and directed at the universe, should maintain a temperature of about -233 degrees Celsius. On the cold side, detectors and scientific instruments are available, including the large gold-plated 6.5-meter mirror that will collect light.

The main mirror It consists of 18 hexagonal gold-plated sub-mirrors made of beryllium. The concave mirror measures 25.4 square meters and can be folded together for easy portability to space. The telescope also has a secondary and a tertiary curved mirror to reduce imaging errors.

Unlike Webb, Hubble mainly measures visible and ultraviolet wavelengths. The infrared capability gives Webb an opportunity to look back in time and see new phenomena that Hubble could not notice. The Hubble Telescope orbits Earth at a distance of 570 kilometers, which is what allows the astronauts to do so Servant Telescope several times since its launch in 1990.

Webb will be transported 1.5 million km and will be traded around another storage range point (L2). L2 is one of the five points where gravity from the Earth and the Sun take each other. This means that smaller objects, such as Webb, can have the same orbital period around the sun as the Earth. This also means that Webb and the Earth will be relatively constant with respect to each other, and the telescope can then look at the universe with the heat shield facing the interior constantly toward the sun and the earth.

Another telescope besides Hubble paved the way for Web it Spitzerteleskopet, Also an infrared telescope orbiting L2. The Spitzer is cooled by liquid helium to avoid background noise and has a sensitivity to a different wavelength range than Webb. The telescope experiments that were discontinued in January 2020 have given an increased understanding of how research is being conducted with infrared telescopes.

Like Spitzer, Webb will study exoplanets and their atmospheres. Use Spectrum Webb will determine the content of planets atmospheres. When an exoplanet passes in front of a star, some of the light that reaches the web passes through the planets atmosphere. Different materials in the atmosphere absorb light in different wavelengths. By measuring the absorption lines, the wavelengths at which the light intensity is lower, it is possible to determine what the atmosphere contains.

Webb will be launched with an Ariane 5 missile from French Guiana on October 31, 2021, according to the current plan. During launch, the heat shield and mirrors fold out.

It is then revealed in stages on its way to the telescopes orbit at L2. There are several steps that must work in order for the telescope to end in place and be able to begin collecting data.

Gran Ostlin is Professor of Astronomy at Stockholm University and investigates galaxies. In his research, he relied heavily on images from Hubble, and looked at measurement data from the Web.

It will be very exciting. The one Ive used the most so far is Hubble. The Hubble Telescope is great for the micrometer in the wavelength, and Webb will be able to see much longer wavelengths. There is a lot that can happen within these wavelength ranges. The advantage of infrared radiation is that the gas in galaxies becomes more transparent. Gran Ostlin says interstellar dust absorbs less infrared radiation, so it will be easy to see what is happening.

It has been many years since construction of the telescope began and the launch has been delayed several times. This does not mean, however, that the technology in the telescope is outdated.

The technology found in James Webb is technology that was available and mature in the early twentieth century. If they had started ten years later, in 2010, they would have chosen other technical solutions. But at the same time, there are many other benefits of being in space, which cannot be compensated from the Earth where the atmosphere is blocked, so a telescope would be very good. When it comes to space, you usually dont take the latest developments, you want mature technology. It should be space-qualified, that is, it underwent several tests in a space environment, says Gran Ostlin.

What do you think will be the most we learn from the James Webb measurements?

Maybe something we didnt expect before. These are the experiences we have from previous telescopes. We have some ideas of what we should be able to do with Webb, but the big driving force is that you should be able to look further than any other telescope, says Gran Ostlin.

There are points in space where the gravitational pull of the sun and the earth takes on each other. A smaller object, such as a satellite, placed in orbit around one of these points could maintain the relative position of both the sun and the Earth. These points are called storage ranges.

There are five storage ranges. Points are solutions to the finite three-body problem and are named after Joseph Louis Lagrange, who found the last two points in the 18th century.

Webb will be transported 1.5 million km to the second storage range point (L2). In L2, Webb will follow the Earths orbit around the Sun. The grid and the Earth will be fixed relative to each other, which means that the telescope can look at the universe with the heat shield facing inward toward the sun and the earth.

Taiwan Advanced Nanotech’s (GTSM:6797) Solid Profits Have Weak Fundamentals – Simply Wall St

Unsurprisingly, Taiwan Advanced Nanotech Inc.'s (GTSM:6797) stock price was strong on the back of its healthy earnings report. However, we think that shareholders may be missing some concerning details in the numbers.

One key financial ratio used to measure how well a company converts its profit to free cash flow (FCF) is the accrual ratio. In plain english, this ratio subtracts FCF from net profit, and divides that number by the company's average operating assets over that period. The ratio shows us how much a company's profit exceeds its FCF.

As a result, a negative accrual ratio is a positive for the company, and a positive accrual ratio is a negative. While having an accrual ratio above zero is of little concern, we do think it's worth noting when a company has a relatively high accrual ratio. Notably, there is some academic evidence that suggests that a high accrual ratio is a bad sign for near-term profits, generally speaking.

Taiwan Advanced Nanotech has an accrual ratio of 0.30 for the year to December 2020. Unfortunately, that means its free cash flow was a lot less than its statutory profit, which makes us doubt the utility of profit as a guide. Indeed, in the last twelve months it reported free cash flow of NT$576m, which is significantly less than its profit of NT$618.2m. Given that Taiwan Advanced Nanotech had negative free cash flow in the prior corresponding period, the trailing twelve month resul of NT$576m would seem to be a step in the right direction.

International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence is a non-profit corporation founded in California, in 1969 for scientific and educational purposes, including dissemination of information on Artificial Intelligence at conferences in which cutting-edge scientific results are presented and through dissemination of materials presented at these meetings in form of Proceedings, books, video recordings, and other educational materials. IJCAI consists of two divisions: the Conference Division and the AI Journal Division. IJCAI conferences present premier international gatherings of AI researchers and practitioners and they were held biennially in odd-numbered years since 1969.

Starting with 2016, IJCAI conferences are held annually. IJCAI-21 will be held in Montreal, Canada, IJCAI-ECAI-22 in Bologna, Italy, IJCAI-23 in Cape Town, South Africa and IJCAI-PRICAI-24 in Shanghai, P.R. China.

IJCAI is governed by the Board of Trustees, with IJCAI Secretariat in charge of its operations.

IJCAI-PRICAI-20 was held from January 7th until January 15th, 2021 in a virtual Japanese reality. The Conference Committee and the Local Arrangements Committee thank you all for participating.

Social Darwinism met its match in the 1930s. The evil of the poor was a hard concept to sustain during the Great Depression. Suddenly, through no fault of their own, the poor were family, friends and oneself. It gave rise to the huge popularity of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the diminution of social Darwinism.

The Depression empowered FDR to institute the social safety net, relieve the poor and bolster the middle class. Like Teddy before him, FDR slowed the move toward oligarchy. The role of the economic system in creating poverty was uncovered. The Gilded Age elite became known as the robber barons. The role of government in alleviating poverty was newly discovered and acted upon.

Even though communal responsibility and the social safety net were back, it was different. In the mid-1800s, the responsibility was assumed by individuals. In the mid-1930s, it was assumed by the government. It was more as it had been in our earliest settlements communal responsibility reinforced by church and government. During the Depression and after World War II, America came the closest to aid without taint.

In response, the super-rich called FDR a traitor to his class. The taint of poverty and the moral superiority of the rich were ideas that would not die. The farther we moved from The Great Depression, the more often those who accepted help were looked down upon. The proudest among us, refused assistance to avoid the taint of poverty. During the Bill Clinton administration, work-fare imposed draconian regulations before a dollar in aid was granted. Social Darwinism held sway even as the need for assistance was acknowledged.

FDR, his programs and his ideas were under constant assault. When Social Security could not be undone, the Social Security Trust Fund was raided by Congress. Congress then told the American public Social Security was going bankrupt. The public was not told Social Security was perfectly sound if only politicians put back what they misappropriated.

Today, as little as 1 percent of the population controls as much as 90 percent of the wealth. Will there be an unstoppable shift away from democracy? Money talks, but does it dictate? Will the 1 percent ask the politicians it supports to establish the form of government that best serves them? If the economy is allowed to tilt severely enough, is there an inevitable effect on our form of government?

In April 2019, at the House Financial Services Committee hearing, freshman Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., asked JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, a man who earns $31,000,000 annually, how an employee of his, a woman who earns $35,000 annually, was supposed to live. Dimon said he didnt know. Apparently, no one does. The point Porter was making was that too many incomes do not cover costs. Too many Americans are working poor. Dimon earns 1,000 times more than his entry-level employee. That is indisputable income inequality. Does that explain a political tilt to the right?

The population of America is much larger today than it was in the Gilded Age. The increased population puts an additional strain on the government and its ability to produce and dispense goods and services. Yet the need, a product of the disproportionate distribution of wealth, exists now as it did in the Gilded Age. We live in a world of finite resources. If we mean to economically suppress a group, first we vilify them. People of another color and another land are not merely different they are dangerously different. Is that the basis of the resurgence of hate groups?

Is the American Rescue Plan an end of welfare as we knew it or a caesura? During the time of COVID, we can say the magic words about people who need assistance: through no fault of their own. When COVID is behind us, will social Darwinism and its invidious comparison hold sway once more?

Recently, Missouri Republicans blocked federal funds for the expansion of Medicaid. In an editorial, The Kansas City Star could not understand it why turn down free medical care for those who cannot afford it? The editorial concluded that they hate the poor.

The story told in the Gilded Age social Darwinism justified the income disparity. The story was told from podia and pulpits. If a culture tells a story that a majority accepts, the power of that story cannot be overestimated. That story shapes and directs.

Today we cannot agree on much not even the story of us. If our fastest growth and the strongest middle class in U.S. history are behind us; if an America wherein a single-wage earner can support a family is behind us; if Americans who trusted the government and demanded it work as hard and honestly as they did is behind us; if all that is in the past what is our future?

Who are the ones that will push back against oligarchy? Biden and his party proposing more legislation like the American Rescue Plan? If so, expect a fight in Congress and in the streets. Expect the continuing battle: the social safety net versus the poor mans bootstraps. The solution of warning out versus economic growth of inviting in.

Watch the battle with a clear understanding that behind it all is the real fight: Will a few control the power and money or will the many share both?

The Cambrian Explosion Has Just Gone Nuclear – Discovery Institute

Here are two very interesting updates to my recent articles at Evolution News on alleged Ediacaran animals and the Cambrian Explosion.

In my article (Bechly 2018b) about the iconic and enigmatic Ediacaran organism Dickinsonia, I showed why in spite of new biomarker evidence presented by Bobrovskiy et al. (2018), Dickinsonia is unlikely to be an animal. Such evidence-based skepticism is of course not greatly appreciated in Darwinist circles and provoked a response.

At the Peaceful Science forum, an anonymous atheist and self-professed blogging graduate student (evograd 2018), who obviously lacks sufficient expertise as well as some reading comprehension, criticized my article with a red herring quibble about two of six references that Bobrovskiy et al. quoted (which I actually never disputed), while ignoring all real arguments. Just read my article and compare it with his criticism to decide for yourself if it has any merit. Anyway, this young know-it-all then triumphantly proclaimed:

The relevant context here is that the authors were specifically testing the animal affinity for Dickinsonia against other hypotheses of a lichen fungi affinity or a giant protist affinity. By ruling out lichen fungi and giant protist affinities, the only remaining plausible option is that Dickinsonia is an animal.

The problem is, this is simply false. Do not take my word for it, but that of paleontologist Professor Gregory Retallack, who is a renowned specialist on Ediacaran biota. In response to the article by Bobrovskiy et al. he wrote a comment to the journal Science (Retallack 2018) titled Dickinsonia steroids not unique to animals. In this comment Retallack explains that the biomarkers found in Dickinsonia fossils are fully compatible with an affinity to lichenized glomeromycotan fungi. If there are even such alternative candidates among living organisms, this may well have been even more the case in the extinct Vendobionta, which have been proposed as an independent Ediacaran kingdom of life by Seilacher (1992). The very alien body plan of Dickinsonia with glide symmetry definitely supports such a Vendobionta hypothesis rather than an animal affinity (McMenamin 1998/2000).

Charles Darwin was quite aware that the sudden appearance of animals in the fossil record poses a major problem for his theory, but he hoped that this problem was due only to our insufficient knowledge of an incomplete fossil record, and therefore will dissolve over time with future research. However, 150 years of paleontological exploration after Darwin has made the problem far worse: not for nothing is it called the Cambrian Explosion. All attempts to explain this problem away have failed (Meyer 2013), including the still beloved artifact hypothesis (Bechly 2020).

Nevertheless, evolutionists still hoped that they can somehow squeeze the gradual evolution of the complex animal body plans into the time between the strange Ediacaran biota and the actual Cambrian Explosion. A good example is a study on arthropod origins by Daly et al. (2018). They claimed to have found evidence for a gradual rather than explosive evolution of arthropods, but instead proved the exact opposite (Bechly 2018a). In their study, Daly et al. (2018) had admitted that the recent discovery of Burgess Shale Type Lagersttten from China and Mongolia demonstrates that animals were absent before 550 million years ago. They also documented trace fossil evidence for trilobite arthropods around 537 million years ago, which leaves only 13 million years for the evolution of complex animal body plans like that of arthropods. This may sound like a long time but actually it is just about as long as the average lifespan of 1-2 successive marine invertebrate species (Levinton 2001). This alone renders a Darwinian scenario almost impossible. But it turns out that even this short time frame vastly overestimated the available window of time.

Recently, I stumbled upon a paper from 2018 that I had previously overlooked, and it proved to be dynamite. It is a study by a research group from the University of Zurich about the transition from the Ediacaran organisms to the Cambrian animal phyla in the Nama Basin of Namibia (Linnemann et al. 2018). What they found is truly mind-blowing. The window of time between the latest appearance date (LAD) of the alien Ediacaran biota and the first appearance date (FAD) of the complex Cambrian biota was only 410,000 years. You read that correctly, just 410 thousand years! This is not an educated guess but based on very precise radiometric U-Pb dating with an error margin of only plus-minus 200 thousand years. This precision is truly a remarkable achievement of modern science considering that we are talking about events 538 million years ago.

The authors of the study fully realized that their finding documents an unexpected extremely short duration of the faunal transition from Ediacaran to Cambrian biota. Therefore, they speculated about ecologically driven reasons for this rapid onset of the Cambrian Explosion. Of course, no ecological factors whatsoever could solve the information problem of the origin of the new animal body plans in the Cambrian Explosion, as was elaborated by Stephen Meyer in his book Darwins Doubt (Meyer 2013). With this new and very precise time frame, the population genetic waiting time problem for the origin of animal body plans is lifted to a whole new level and suggests that no unguided process could ever plausibly explain these data. The Cambrian Explosion has gone nuclear and simply evaporates neo-Darwinism as a brilliant and beautiful but failed scientific theory, as it was recently called by Yale University professor David Gelernter (2019).

Dubbed as the greatest basketball player, Michael Jordans amazing game has helped with the popularization of the biggest basketball league in the world and inspired thousands of people beyond basketball to great success.

However, after his retirement, Air Jordan turned to gambling. He revealed that one night back in 1993 he gambled $165,000 at a casino in Atlantic City. He also admitted that he used to gamble on everything including golf matches, card games, and classic table games. It is also not uncommon for MJ to participate in high-stakes gambling activities with other pro athletes including Charles Barkley.

Pete Rose

We can complete this article without mentioning Pete Rose. Born in 1941, the legendary Pete Rose is a professional baseball player who played in MLB (Major League Baseball) from 1963 up to 1986. He is also known as one of the Cincinnati Reds managers. During his fruitful career, Pete Rose won three batting titles, three World Series Rings, two Gold Gloves, among many other titles. Several years after retiring, Pete Rose was included on the permanently ineligible list after it was revealed that he had wagered on baseball while actively playing and leading the Cincinnati Reds.

It was also revealed that Rose gambled around $10,000 daily back in 1987 and many believed that he wagered against the Cincinnati Reds even though no evidence was ever found. As a result of his gambling addiction, one of the greatest baseball players of all time was banned from the Baseball Hall of Fame and he is the only player on the ineligible list.
