60% of major US firms have been hacked in cloud: study – ETCIO.com

Hackers have penetrated cloud computing networks of some 60 percent of top US companies, with virtually all industry sectors hit, security researchers said Tuesday.

Researchers at the enterprise security firm Proofpoint said they detected over 15 million unauthorized login attempts to cloud computing networks of US Fortune 500 firms in the first six months of 2019, of which 400,000 were successful.

"While it only takes one compromised account to achieve wide-ranging effects in an organization, attempted unauthorized logins were pervasive across industries," Proofpoint researchers said in a blog post.

In analyzing some 20 million user accounts in more than 1,000 cloud deployments, the study found 92 percent of the Fortune 500 companies surveyed were targeted by cyber attacks.

Attackers appeared to target all sectors, the researchers said, but appeared to be more successful in education and food and beverage sectors. Regulated industries such as healthcare and financial services fared better, with "significantly lower rates of successful attacks," Proofpoint said.

Sales representatives and managers appeared to be most frequently targeted, possibly because their emails tend to be publicly available and their positions give them wide-ranging access.

Proofpoint said when attackers gain access, this often leads to "lateral expansion" -- such as spamming or phishing to get even deeper access to networks, and "large credential dumps" that can allow more cybercriminals to access the compromised networks.

7 Futuristic cloud technologies that will change the world – TechGenyz

Technology rules the world, and we connect everything through digital cloud computing. It implements a whole new world of businesses, services, and other platforms. It includes everything that endeavors relies on the form of technology.

Technology is moving our world every day and thus changing our way of living. From medical breakthroughs to transportation, thanks to modern technology, the world is continuously evolving. Technology empowers us to push beyond the traditional limits of our society.

Cloud Computing is a mixture of cloud-based software products and on-site computing to assist in developing hybrid IT solutions. It offers options that are flexible and adaptable that become an essential component of cloud computing and a better way to process data.

With the digital revolution, it drives many changes, the way we do business, healthcare, and how we socialize all these developments will revolutionize everything with the future of cloud computing 2020.

There are numerous IoT devices that exist today, but the IoT is just getting started. IHS has predicted there will be 75 billion connected devices by 2020.

Heres a list of technologies that will probably change our lives forever with the upcoming technology 2020.

This futuristic technology is otherwise called an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or Remotely Piloted Aircraft System functions in various ways. Futuristic technology is called an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or Remotely Piloted Aircraft System that transmits useful data.

Very soon, Drones will achieve more development, not just in social media transportation or in warfare, but it is also going to assist in healthcare facilities in remote areas in the near future.

With the latest technology trends 2020, self-drive cars will be available to the general public once they are commercialized. It finds a solution for a lot of transportation-related issues like drunk and drive, reduces accidents, and promotes digitalization. It comes with automated maps that enable the car to drive itself to any destination whenever required.

Google glass has connectivity to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It means that people dont have to bend continually over cell phones, tabs, or laptops, nor do they have to peruse through dozens of texts. Instead, as notifications arrive, consumers can decide whether to read them or not.

However, these eyeglasses are also going to change in the future perspectives. With these glasses, you can make calls, record audio, and even can do video calls. Imagine if these glasses can be used in the future to deal with complicated eye issues.

The field of robotics is rapidly growing. Robots have been a staple of manufacturing for centuries since the province of science fiction, automating production procedures in a number of sectors. Scientists have developed robots that effectively mimic the actions of humans and animals. Similarly, as robots become more capable, the company will probably integrate more robots into their operations.

Since the commencement of the 21st century, 3-D printers have been in use. These printers were used to use plastics, polymers, or other materials to print a three-dimensional model of an object from a digital file.

Manufacturers initially used these printers for prototyping, but developments in printing technology and printing equipment have prompted the sector to start adopting 3-D printing as part of its internal production cycle.

Many medical breakthroughs are expected in the next ten years, powered by innovations in technology and our ever-increasing understanding of the human body and biology. They include:

Solar panels are another popular technology that has been around for some time, but their potential for the future is enormous. They can now not only be concealed in the tiles on your homes ceiling, but some businesses are creating methods to integrate them into vehicle roofs, where they can power in-car tech or make the battery last longer.

Nowadays, businesses are looking for innovative ways to develop and fulfill their company objectives. With this, the business will continue to grow in the future with the assistance of cloud computing. Cloud computing is strong and expansive and will continue to develop and bring many advantages in the future.

Cloud computing is highly cost-effective, and it can be used by businesses to grow. The future of cloud computing is bright and clear; it will provide both the host and the client with beneficial results. It should be recognized that the companys proprietor should be familiarized with modern cloud technology development.

You may be knee-deep in discussions about cloud computing in your organization, but the Linux Foundation is already thinking long and hard about the potential impact of the clouds expected successor, edge computing.

Edge computingwhich anticipates a future in which technology becomes so advanced that high-demand computing tasks are no longer offloaded to the cloudhas been a buzzword for a few years now. But making it possible on a wide scale is going to take some infrastructure work.

Thats where the Linux Foundation comes into play. The group is managing a subsidiary, LF Edge, whose mission is to create an open-source infrastructure for edge computing, including by supporting a large number of open-source projects. LF Edge was founded in January, and this week the foundation announced the addition of four new organizational members and two open-source projectsBaetyl, which connects edge devices to the cloud and was created by the Chinese technology giant Baidu, and Fledge, which focuses on industrial manufacturing needs.

Speaking to ZDNet recently, Arpit Joshipura, the Linux Foundations general manager of networking, noted that LF Edge is seeking to ensure that the players in edge computing work in a coordinated way over a variety of use cases in telecom, internet of things, enterprise, and cloud computing, and to encourage the embrace of an open vision for the field. Our goal here is to unify all of these, he said.

Because edge computing is just emerging, the field has at times struggled to coalesce around a unified approach. On the other hand, being new has its advantages: There are no edge-computing killer apps just yet, and there probably wont be for a while, meaning that the Linux Foundation and similar groups can help shepherd it through its embryonic period.

Another goal is to share innovations with different use cases for the technology, Joshipura said in a news release.

Its incredible to witness such strong industry support for collaborative innovation to create an open-source framework at the edge, he said. In just nine months, LF Edge has seen tremendous growth across the board.
