Taking a Glance at Nanotech Gaming Inc (NTGL)’s True Range – Nelson Research
Posted: June 26, 2017 at 5:31 pm
The moving average of trading ranges over a specified time period is known as the Average True Range. Market bottoms following a panic sell-off are often where high values occur, and low values are often found during extended sideways periods, such as those found after consolidation periods at tops. Nanotech Gaming Inc (NTGL)s 9-Day Average True Range is0.0029 and the 14-Day Average True Range is 0.0033. Digging deeper, the 20-Day Average True Range is 0.0034, the 50-Day Average True Range is0.0032 and, lastly, the 100-Day Average True Range is 0.0032.
Volume is the number of shares traded specific period of time. Every buyer has a seller, and each transaction adds to the total count of the volume. When a buyer and a seller agree on a transaction at a certain price, it is considered to be one transaction. For example, if only twenty transactions occur in a trading day, the volume for the day is twenty. Volume is used to measure the relative worth of a market move. When the markets make a strong price movement, the strength of that movement depends on the volume over that period. The higher the volume means the more significant the move. Volume levels give clues about where to find the best entry and exit points. Nanotech Gaming Inc (NTGL) experienced a volume of 18000. Volume is an important measure of strength for traders and technical analysts because volume is the number of contracts traded. The market needs to produce a buyer and a seller for any trade to occur. The market price is when buyers and sellers meet. When buyers and sellers become very active at a certain price, this means that there is high volume. Bar charts are used to quickly determine the level of volume and identify trends in volume.
A 52-week high/low is the highest and lowest share price that a stock has traded at during the previous year. Investors and traders consider the 52-week high or low as a crucial factor in determining a given stocks current value while also predicting future price movements. When a commodity trades within its 52-week price range (the range that exists between the 52-week low and the 52-week high), investors usually show more interest as the price nears either the high or the low. One of the more popular strategies used by traders is to buy when the price eclipses its 52-week high or to sell when the price drops below its 52-week low. The rationale involved with this strategy says that if the price breaks out either above or below the 52-week range, there is momentum enough to continue the price fluctuation in a positive direction. Nanotech Gaming Inc (NTGL)s high over the last year was $0.0295 while its low was $0.001.
A pivot point is a technical analysis indicator used to glean the overall trend of the market over differing time periods. The pivot point itself is simply the average of the high, low and closing prices from the previous days trading. On the following day, any trading above the pivot point indicates ongoing bullish trends, while trading below the pivot point indicates a bearish trend. Pivot point analysis is used in alongside calculating support and resistance levels, much like trend line analysis. In pivot point analysis, the first support and resistance levels are found by utilizing the width of the trading range between the pivot point and either the high or low prices of the previous trading day. Secondary support and resistance levels are found using the full width between the high and low prices of the previous trading day.
Pivot points are oft-used indicators for trading futures, commodities, and stocks. They are static, remaining at the same price level throughout the day. Five pivot point levels are generated by using data from the previous days trading range. These are composed of a pivot point and two higher pivot point resistances called R1 and R2 and also two lower pivot point supports called as S1 and S2. Nanotech Gaming Inc (NTGL)s Pivot Point is 0.0079. Barchart Opinions show investors what a variety of popular trading systems are suggesting. These Opinions take up to 2 years worth of historical data and runs the prices through thirteen technical indicators. After each calculation, a buy, sell or hold value for each study is assigned, depending on where the price is in reference to the interpretation of the study.
Todays opinion, the overall signal based on where the price lies in reference to the common interpretation of all 13 studies, for Nanotech Gaming Inc (NTGL) is 8% Sell. Nanotech Gaming Inc (NTGL)s Previous Opinion, he overall signal from yesterday, based on where the price lies in reference to the common interpretation of all 13 studies was 32% Sell. Nanotech Gaming Inc (NTGL)s opinion strength, a long-term measurement of signal strength vs. the historical strength, is Minimum.
Opinion strength ranges from Maximum, Strong, Average, Weak, Minimum. A stronger strength is less volatile and a hold signal does not have any strength. The Opinion Direction, a three-day measurement of the movement of the signal, an indication of whether the most recent price movement is going along with the signal. Strongest, Strengthening, Average, Weakening, or Weakest. A buy or sell signal with a strongest direction means the signal is becoming stronger. A hold signal direction indicates where the signal is heading (towards a buy or sell): Bullish, Rising, Steady, Falling, or Bearish. Nanotech Gaming Inc (NTGL)s direction is Weakening.

Many investors may strive to be in the stock market when the bulls are running and out of the market when the bears are in charge. Investors often use multiple strategies when setting up their portfolios. Some may rely solely on fundamental analysis, technical analysis, or a combination of both. Investing can be an extremely tough process. Individual investors often strive to gather and analyze vast amounts of information in order to make educated decisions. Often times, investors may have initial success in the stock market, and then things may turn sour. Confidence may be necessary to make the tougher decisions, but overconfidence may lead to an underperforming portfolio. Overconfidence may cause the investor to make poor decisions because they are relying too heavily on personal interpretations.
Digging deeping into the NanoTech Gaming Inc (NTGL) s technical indicators, we note that the Williams Percent Range or 14 day Williams %R currently sits at -23.33. The Williams %R oscillates in a range from 0 to -100. A reading between 0 and -20 would point to an overbought situation. A reading from -80 to -100 would signal an oversold situation. The Williams %R was developed by Larry Williams. This is a momentum indicator that is the inverse of the Fast Stochastic Oscillator.
NanoTech Gaming Inc (NTGL) currently has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of 50.68. Active investors may choose to use this technical indicator as a stock evaluation tool. Used as a coincident indicator, the CCI reading above +100 would reflect strong price action which may signal an uptrend. On the flip side, a reading below -100 may signal a downtrend reflecting weak price action. Using the CCI as a leading indicator, technical analysts may use a +100 reading as an overbought signal and a -100 reading as an oversold indicator, suggesting a trend reversal.
Currently, the 14-day ADX for NanoTech Gaming Inc (NTGL) is sitting at 60.80. Generally speaking, an ADX value from 0-25 would indicate an absent or weak trend. A value of 25-50 would support a strong trend. A value of 50-75 would identify a very strong trend, and a value of 75-100 would lead to an extremely strong trend. ADX is used to gauge trend strength but not trend direction. Traders often add the Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) and Minus Directional Indicator (-DI) to identify the direction of a trend.
The RSI, or Relative Strength Index, is a widely used technical momentum indicator that compares price movement over time. The RSI was created by J. Welles Wilder who was striving to measure whether or not a stock was overbought or oversold. The RSI may be useful for spotting abnormal price activity and volatility. The RSI oscillates on a scale from 0 to 100. The normal reading of a stock will fall in the range of 30 to 70. A reading over 70 would indicate that the stock is overbought, and possibly overvalued. A reading under 30 may indicate that the stock is oversold, and possibly undervalued. After a recent check, the 14-day RSI for NanoTech Gaming Incis currently at 49.17, the 7-day stands at 53.53, and the 3-day is sitting at 78.85.
Investors might be searching high and low to find some good deals in the equity market. With the market riding high, it may be difficult to find great bargain basement stocks. Filtering through the technicals may help locate some stocks that are poised to make a run even higher. Many investors will choose to look at all the technical indicators while some will zoom in on a few hand-picked ones. Shuffling through the markets may get dizzying at times, but that little extra research might just help locate that diamond in the rough that has yet to break out. Investors may be holding on to a big winner or two in the portfolio. At current market levels, it may be tempting to take some profits, and this may create a major dilemma for the individual investor.

Virtual Reality Takes Consciousness Research into Mystic Realms of the Divine Play – The Sociable
Posted: at 5:29 pm
Virtual Reality is blazing new frontiers in the exploration of consciousness by adding whole new dimensions to the notion of what is real.
We will see in the near future extremely effective machines using modern technology to alter consciousness; some of them, including the virtual reality technology, are already quite advanced. Stanislav Grof
Similar to the psychedelic experience, Virtual Reality is opening new paths towards mystical experiences like those that have inspired the worlds greatest religions.
Through this powerful technology, we are closer than ever to being able to enter altered states of consciousness by being immersed in a realm where time travel is possible, where fantastical landscapes capture our imaginations, and where we can prepare ourselves for the next great adventure after this life.

According to Dr. Stanislav Grof, a pioneer in transpersonal psychology and psychedelic research since the 1960s and whom Ill be quoting throughout this article, The menacing specter of death that we harbor in our unconscious interferes with our everyday existence and makes our life in many ways inauthentic. In technological societies, the predominant reactions to the situation are massive denial and avoidance that are in their consequences destructive and self-destructive on an individual as well as a collective level.
How can Virtual Reality show us another way of looking at death one that puts us not in denial or avoidance, but one that helps us accept and embrace our own mortality?
The man who dies before he dies, does not die when he dies. Abraham a Sancta Clara, 17th century German Monk.
Harvard Divinity School reported that researchers were using consciousness hacking through a VR app called When We Die to prepare people for what happens when they shuffle off this mortal coil.
According to one of the apps developers, Paula Ceballos, Aging, death, and mortality are not topics that are openly spoken about in western cultures, so its [the app] addressing that, making it top of mind, and making you comfortable in the discomfort of mortality and dying.
Ceballos touched upon a key theme which corroborates both ancient teachings and modern psychedelic research as it relates to what it means to prepare for ones own death.
Separatingoneself from the ego, or separating the desires of the body from the mind, is an important step towards a living a fulfilling life without the fear of death.
To experience the loss of the ego is like experiencing death in that it is the end of how you perceive yourself in this reality we call life the death of the idea of the self as being different from everything else in the cosmos.
This notion of death before dying led Grof to write in his 1998 book The Cosmic Game:Explorations of the Frontiers of Human Consciousness:
The experience of pyschospirtual death and rebirth is a major step in the direction of the weakening of our identification with the skin-encapsulated ego and reconnecting with the transcendental domain. We feel redeemed, liberated, and blessed and have a new awareness of our divine nature and cosmic status. We also typically experience a strong surge of positive emotions towards ourselves, other people, nature, God, and existence in general. We are filled with optimism and have a sense of emotional and physical well-being.
With Virtual Reality, we are now able to step outside our own bodies and experience a realm completely separated from waking life. The key word here is experience because one has to experience this virtual reality, not just study it, in order to grasp what if fully entails. You cant fully describe in words the scent of a rose to one who cannot smell.
In VR, our identity with ourselves is suspended, like in a dream, where we can take off and fly to uncharted territories which gives us insight into new perspectives never before imagined.

It can even be argued that what we call reality is a form of virtual reality what the Hindu mystics called maya or illusion and we are both actors and directors in this celestial drama.
As Grof said, The virtual reality simulating a material universe is worked out with such an acute sense for miniscule detail that the result is absolutely convincing and believable. The units of consciousness cast as the protagonists in the countless roles of this play of plays get entangled and caught in the complex and intricate web of its illusionary magic.
If we accept that the material universe as we know it is not a mechanical system but a virtual reality created by absolute consciousness through an infinity complex orchestration of experiences, what are the practical consequences of this insight? Stanislav Grof
The extent to which Virtual Reality can be used in exploring consciousness leads researchers to suggest that VR can affect our dreams to point of lucidity.
Lucid dreams are dreams where you realize you are dreaming. Its like waking up inside a dream where you can control what is going on around you.
Lucid dreaming is also the first step towards what is known as astral projection, but that is a topic for another time.
The Atlantic reported that MacEwan University Psychologist Jayne Gackenbach discovered that gamers report a greater sense of control in their dreams than non-gamers and that Virtual Reality would enhance that sense of control even greater.
When you alter peoples waking realities, their memory changes. The more you think youre in one reality, it alters your memory of other realities, said Gackenbach.
That means being immersed in a virtual reality can not only affect your dreams making them become more lucid but it also suggests that experiencing virtual reality can change ones perspective on everyday reality as well.
This is where we revert back to mystic traditions and psychedelic experiences as being in the same realm as virtual reality.
Its like the case of the Chinese philosopher Chuang-tzu who awoke from a dream in which he was a butterfly, and he could not fully determine whether he was not actually a butterfly dreaming of being a human.

The idea that we may be living in a computer simulation or that reality is some type of holographic illusion held together by consciousness be it collective or absolute seems a lot more plausible if we enter altered states of consciousness through the use of technology like VR, meditation, holotropic breathwork, or entheogens.
By undergoing death and rebirth in their initiatory crises, shamans lose the fear of death and become familiar and comfortable with its experiential territory. Stanislav Grof
The real world applications of Virtual Reality have led researchers to use this technology to treat depression much in the same way institutions like Johns Hopkins University is using magic mushrooms to helpterminal cancer patients.
Psilocybin, the psychoactive ingredient in magic mushrooms, has been used to induce mystical experiences in cancer patients that not only comforts them with their own mortality, but also as a way of allowing them to experience death before dying, much like the When We Die VR app.
Read More:Researching shrooms: The magic tripping dose, mystical experiences and the tech community
According to Grof, Many of the great mystical traditions developed specific technologies for inducing spiritual experiences and combined observation and theoretical speculation in a way that resembled modern science.
Shamanism is a worldwide phenomenon that preceded religion by thousands of years. Shamans were the first doctors, priests, and spiritual advisers of ancient communities.

In the view of the shaman, mental illness is a form of spiritual crisis, one that can be remedied by journeying into mystical realms.
Modern day shamans view psychiatric hospitals as horrific places where souls are trapped and tormented where they should be liberated and given spiritual treatment rather than be given mind-numbing drugs.
Read More:UW research into DNA storage backs up ancient shamanic knowledge
Virtual Reality is now being used to treat what our society calls mental illness.
According to an article in Big Think, So far the 285 studies published on virtual reality and mental health are encouraging. Sufferers of social anxiety, PTSD, and phobias are finding success.
Clinical psychology professor Daniel Freeman and his brother, writer Jason Freeman were paraphrased as saying, as in dreams, virtual reality is a safe space for us to engage in problem solving that wed normally be reluctant to attempt out there, and that they even foresee VR as being a diagnostic tool, cheaper and more accessible than fMRI machines and talk therapy sessions.
Virtual Reality has serious potential to unlock doors where modern pharmaceuticals and therapy have not, but what are the higher implications of VR as it pertains to altering consciousness, and where can that altered consciousness lead once the doors of perception are cleansed?
The creative intention behind the divine play is to call into being experiential realities that would offer the best opportunities for adventures in consciousness. Stanislav Grof
I keep referring to the work of Stanislav Grof in this article as his more than 40 years of experience working with consciousness is astounding!
According to Grof, whose practical research into ancient cultures combined with thousands of holotropic sessions have revealed, consciousness is not an epiphenomenon of the brain as mainstream science suggests.
Instead of the brain as a generator of consciousness, Grof postulates that consciousness acts more like a TV or radio signal if the TV or radio is damaged, the signal still exists.
In that respect, consciousness cannot be ruled out as a driving force in reality and that consciousness may actually create reality, and the source of creation is one and the same as nothingness The Void.
Just as physicists postulate that energy cannot be created nor destroyed and that the universe is filled with dark matter and dark energy that cannot be perceived, only measured, is just one mainstream science observation of this phenomenon known as The Void.
According to Grof, When all the boundaries dissolve and we transcend them, we can experience identification with the creative source itself, either in the form of Absolute Consciousness or the Cosmic Void.
Experiencing identification with the creative source or the void is to identify with our own consciousness as we are both actors and creators in the Divine Play. In other words we are the conscious universe having a human experience, as if every living thing is a simulated avatar of the original source of creation.
In order to experience life, following this logic, we are bound to act in the Divine Play, otherwise life would not exist in this respect.
According to Grof, Each of us appears in the divine play in a dual role of creator and actor. A full and realistic enactment of our role in the cosmic drama requires the suspension of our true identity. We have to forget our authorship and follow the script.
What better way to have adventures in consciousness, to explore vastness of the universe, the complexity of atoms, or the intricacies of our own psyches than through the mind-altering, dream-changing, ego-breaking technology of Virtual Reality?

The Provigil Secret Few Experts Want to Tell You – HuffPost
Posted: at 5:28 pm
Smart drug enthusiasts have been curious about provigil (aka modafinil) for decades, but the drug has recently become the darling of Silicon Valley executives and Wall Street financial traders. In this well-outlined review of provigil you can better understand the pros and cons of this nootropic substance, but here we will focus on something a bit more sinister.
Most nootropic experts believe provigil to be an epitome of cognitive enhancement because it is able to increase many aspects of cognition in a reliable way. Even though this seems like a Limitless pill to some, this is far from the truth. There are plenty of side effects associated with provigil that either go unnoticed or undiscussed.
Below we will explain the origins of provigil, why it is effective, how it compares to other stimulant based drugs, and a few suggestions for anyone interested in this synthetic compound. It may be powerful, but it does come with risks.
The origins of provigil are humble. The drug was invented as a solution for the common disorder called narcolepsy. With narcoleptic patients, they are unable to get adequate rest during the night. This leaves them feeling disoriented, lowers their cognitive abilities, and creates a host of other problems.
The drug was first invented in the late 1970s and was lauded as one of the best solutions for the condition. Although many people have used and continue to use provigil for narcolepsy today, it is most often used for off-label purposes.
Many people who are using provigil find that it is an alertness enhancer when they are sleep deprived or do not get high quality of rest. There is even intellectual discourse about this drug and how it shows a potential discrepancy between our physiological needs. For example, some people claim that provigil shows humans dont need as much sleep as we currently get.
Whatever the case may be, provigil is used both by those in need of prescription help so that they can perform well low on sleep. It also is used by high performance individuals who are trying to get more from their typical workday.
When many people first take provigil, the comparison is immediately with high-powered stimulants like Adderall or Ritalin. These prescription drugs are based off an amphetamine backbone, which means they are very potent and can be potentially dangerous depending on the age and other factors.
Stimulants of any kind can create significant side effects, such as increased heart rate, blood pressure, and stress. One of the benefits of provigil is that the addiction potential is lower when compared to Adderall in several studies.
Some people take Adderall for feelings of euphoria, but this is not an experience many people have with modafinil. That being said, both provigil and Adderall both interact with the adrenaline and dopaminergic systems within the brain. These are very closely tied to the reward circuits so it is important to be mindful of these facts.
Luckily, the military has use for stimulants, which has led to a lot of added research. Studies on air force pilots have found that an equitable dose of provigil has the same effect on preserving cognition as Adderall does during periods of sleep deprivation.
Even those who are taking recreational drugs (like methamphetamine) find that provigil is an adequate substitute to help their cognition.
The greatest upside of taking provigil is to improve focus and concentration. Those who are sleep deprived can enhance their skill of alertness, but those with enough sleep can have even greater concentration than otherwise possible.
Most people like provigil because it is not as addictive as Adderall, but it still has a similar effect. Of course, one of the greatest reasons for provigils popularity is the fact it can increase some aspects of memory and creativity. A specific cognitive marker called working memory is related to creative thinking. It is difficult to find nootropics that will improve both markers of focus and concentration, but also creativity.
It is valuable to work on both of these things in almost every professional setting. Whether you are a creative type or a simple office worker, the provigil drug will provide some type of benefit.
The greatest challenge is facing the side effects of provigil realistically. Even though Adderall is a more addictive and exhausting drug to take, many people in the online communities report anecdotally that provigil creates more side effects than Adderall.
Some people experience chest pains (common with stimulants) while other people have allergic reactions (rashes). Still others have longer term issues, such as increased heart rate and blood pressure. This is one of the things most of the experts will not mention: you must be responsible for your own cognitive health.
Do not make the mistake of thinking that because provigil is helpful, it doesnt come with risks. It does come with risks, but there are ways that you can mitigate these risks and prevent yourself from long-term health problems.
To learn more about how to mitigate these risks you can find a full provigil review online here:

Publisher Coatsink has today announced the voice acting cast in its upcoming VR role-playing game, Augmented Empire. The esteemed cast includes Doug Cockle, the gruff voice behind Geralt from The Witcher series among several other notable names.
Other actors voicing characters in Augmented Empire include:
Augmented Empire is a cyberpunk tactical role-playing game for Samsung Gear VR. Played from an isometric, top down perspective, players navigate a team of 6 characters in X-COM-like strategic encounters. The games neo-noir setting not only feels wholly suitable for a VR game but it also functions brilliantly in a gameplay sense, too. Twinfinite played the game at EGX Rezzed and we were very impressed with how well VR felt applied in a strategy setting.
Coatsink CEO Tom Beardsmore told us With a strong focus on deep but accessible gameplay, we wanted to give Gear VR Gamers an extraordinary experience. Were thrilled with the caliber of talent involved in Augmented Empire.

Is a ‘brain massage’ the secret to treating depression? – Telegraph.co.uk
Posted: at 5:26 pm
Cana 'brain massage' battle the potentially life-threatening effects of depression?
That's the hope behind a relatively new treatment, called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS for short), which is showing impressive results in the treatment of depression among test cases in the UK.
TMS sends magnetic pulses of low-level electric currentthrough specific parts of the brain, stimulating or suppressingthe cells and potentially so the theory goes changing their behaviour. It's been around for a while, but has only recently been fine-tuned;theNational Institute for Clinical Excellence backed TMS in 2015, recognising it as a safeand effective treatment for a range of disorders including neuropathic pain, de-personalisation syndrome, depression and addiction.
For Freddie Webster, 27,it's not an exaggeration to say TMS may have saved his life.
Ive battled depression for the past 10 years, combating it with drugs in the darkest moments when my thoughts turned to suicide, says the website designer from Surrey.
When I was first diagnosed with a depressive disorder the symptoms would begin with me feeling down about everything, having a bleak outlook, lacking energy but having heightened anxiety. Then I would descend into bouts of clinical depression. Id lose focus, I couldnt concentrate, my memory would suffer, it ruined relationships and jobs. Id have suicidal thoughts.

Pokemon GO: How to Get and Use TMs – Game Rant
Posted: at 5:26 pm
Pokemon GO is slowly becoming the constantly evolving Alternate Reality Game title that it was promised to be when it was first introduced to the world over a year ago. Over the course of its first year,Pokemon GO has changed dramatically, removing features that werent functioning while adding content that is meant to both keep players engaged and bolster the apps functionality. Even amongst all the changes that have occurred within the game lately, though,Pokemon GOs latest patch is a different animal altogether, offering what is arguably the single-most impactful collection of updates in the history of the game.
Part of the reason the last update is so huge forPokemon GO is because it finally introduces a core mechanic from otherPokemon games Technical Machines, better known to veteran players as TMs. In the classicPokemon games, TMs teach Pokemon a specific move, giving trainers more control over their creatures and making specific kinds ofPokemon battles much easier with a little planning. InPokemon GO, TMs function a little differently, but theyre still a vital and useful tool worth embracing for those looking to hone the perfect gym sweeper lineup.
TMs are a reward from the newly-addedPokemon GO raid battles, so players who end up competing in the larger-scale fights in gyms will have the potential to acquire these items. There are two types of TMs Fast TMs, which teach moves that a player uses by tapping the screen in battle, and Charged TMs, which teach moves that a player uses by charging the meter in a battle and holding their finger on the phone screen.
Fast TMs drop fromPokemon GO gym raids for players level 15 and over. Ultimately, the official requirements for gym raids make it so that any participant will already be higher than level 15, so simply participating in a gym raid will give players the chance to acquire a Fast TM.
Charged TMs, on the other hand, only drop from gym raids that are level 25 or higher. This isthe minimum level for gym raids, meaning newer or less experienced players will still have to grind up to level 25 in order to have access to Charged TM drops as well as Fast TMs no matter what. Its possible the level requirements for these items dropping is related to the fact that Niantic is already testing level 5 raid battles presumably, if those get implemented later, TMs will not be available as rewards at such low levels.
TMs simply exist in the item bag and can be used on Pokemon whenever a trainer wishes. This does come with a caveat, though, and is the major difference between TMs in traditionalPokemon games and those that are found inPokemon GO the move they teach is assigned at random. Using a Fast TM will, of course, teach a Fast move no matter what, but trainers cannot choose which one they will receive.
That being said, there are a few rules that help narrow things down. A Pokemon will not learn a move from a TM that it couldnt already have, which typically limits the random move pool to about 4 moves for each move type. Furthermore, a Pokemon will never learn the same move it already had in its slot from a TM, so players wont have to worry about wasting a TM and getting nothing out of it.
Ultimately, the introduction of TMs allows trainers to have more control over the development of their Pokemon than ever before. This is particularly useful for those who have a high CP Pokemon that has an undesirable move for battle simply using TMs until the right move is learned will likely take less time than constantly grinding for a high-level variant of the creature in question with the desired move.
Pokemon GO is available now on Android and iOS mobile devices.

Neurotechnology Develops 3D Printing Method with Non-Contact Ultrasonic Manipulation Technology – 3DPrint.com
Posted: at 5:25 pm
If youve ever had the feeling that everything you touch turns to, ah, the opposite of gold, a newly developed 3D printing technology emerging from Lithuania might just be the one for you. The Ultrasound Research Group at Neurotechnology has announced a new 3D printing method using ultrasonic manipulation technology thats totally hands-off. Its not just human hands either; the new method has totally non-contact tech behind it, allowing for the manipulation of parts and particles, down to the submillimeter range, without causing damage to sensitive components.
Ultrasonic manipulation can handle a very large range of different materials, including metals, plastics and even liquids. Not only can it manipulate material particles, it can also handle components of various shapes. Other non-contact methods, like the ones based on magnetic or electrostatic forces, cant offer such versatility, explained research engineerDr. Osvaldas Putkis, project lead for Neurotechnologys Ultrasound Research Group.
Neurotechnology is a Vilnius-based company, founded in 1990 under the name Neurotechnologija, that released its first technology a fingerprint identification system in 1991 and has been developing and updating new technologies since, having released more than 130 products and version upgrades throughout its history, including work with 3D modeling. The companys Ultrasound Research Group began work in developing ultrasonic 3D printing products in 2014, and today announced its new technology, which according to the company is set to enable 3D printing and assembly of almost any type of object using a wide range of different materials and components.
Dr. Osvaldas Putkis with the prototype 3D printer
If youre thinking that it sounds like a good idea to bring sound into 3D printing, you (and Neurotechnology) are not alone; Fabrisonic incorporates sound waves into its patented metal 3D printing process, welding layers together via Ultrasonic Additive Manufacturing (UAM) in a hybrid subtractive/additive manufacturing process. Sound waves have additionally been incorporated into more artistic endeavors, as Dutch artists brought vibrations into 3D printed clay creations and 3D printing came into play with work in acoustic manipulation.
Because the work from the Ultrasound Research Group represents a new technological application, Neurotechnology has filed a patent on their system. Neurotechnology describes ultrasonic manipulation as a non-contact material handling method which uses ultrasonic waves to trap and move small particles and components.
The company has shared a video to demonstrate the hands-off capabilities allowed for via ultrasonic manipulation, as their prototype printer can assemble a simple printed circuit board (PCB):
Ultrasonic transducers are arranged in this demonstration in an array used to position electronic components in the creation of a PCB, utilizing a camera to detect accurate positioning. Continuing on with the hands-off theme, a laser solders the PCB components after their non-contact manipulation into placement.

Important components to the system as described include the ultrasonic array, camera, and soldering laser:
Curious about what Neurotechnology is working on? We are, too, and well be hearing directly from the company with additional details and insights into their new ultrasonic-based 3D printing technology soon.
We do know now that the companys 3D printing apparatus and method of ultrasonic manipulation are patent pending, and that Neurotechnology is looking to collaborate with interested companies toward furthering the development of and applications for the new technology.
3D printing and PCB manufacture are increasingly coming together, as advanced technologies benefit the creation of devices in electronics, including via 3D printed workstations for PCBs. The 3D printer we hear about most often in conjunction with PCBs is of course the DragonFly 2020 from Nano Dimension, which creates, not just assembles, PCBs but they are by no means the only 3D printing player in the electronics space, as others are also looking to change things up and offer additional options in this growing application. As Neurotechnology notes that their method works with all kinds of materials, we can expect to see additional applications beyond PCB assembly, and look forward to sharing more details soon regarding the development and capabilities of their as-yet-unnamed 3D printing technology.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals has announced Lauren Meiss of Scottsdale has been granted a $5,000 All in for CF Scholarship to support her attendance at University of California San Francisco Medical School for the 2017-18 academic year.
Lauren Meiss
Vertex awarded 40 scholarships totaling $200,000 to people living with cystic fibrosis (CF) and their immediate family members through the program, which is part of Vertexs broad commitment to the CF community, according to a press release.
Vertex established the All in for CF Scholarship program to help people with CF and their immediate family members pursue two-year, four-year or graduate degrees, the release states.
Ms. Meiss, a 27-year-old woman living with CF, is one of the first All in for CF Scholarship recipients and is working toward her medical degree.
The All in for CF scholarships complement other Vertex initiatives that help people with CF live active lives, improve awareness of CF, and support independent basic science and clinical research.
Vertex is focused on discovering and developing transformative medicines for people with CF, but our commitment to the community extends far beyond this, said Dr. Jeffrey Leiden, president and chief excutive officer of Vertex in a prepared statement.
Our new scholarship program reflects the fact that CF impacts entire families by helping people with CF, their caregivers, siblings and children pursue their academic goals.
Scholarship recipients were chosen by an independent committee of CF community members based on a submitted essay and an applicants demonstrated level of community involvement, financial need, and academic achievement.

Best of MLB: Ichiro becomes oldest starting CF since at least 1900 as Marlins beat Cubs
MIAMI -- The Chicago Cubs wasted a fine pitching performance by Mike Montgomery, stranding 11 runners and allowing three unearned runs to lose Sunday to the Miami Marlins, 4-2.
Edinson Volquez (4-8) gave up five hits and five walks in five innings, but he stranded eight runners and departed with a 3-2 lead.
Miami's Ichiro Suzuki, 43, became the oldest player to start in center field since at least 1900, surpassing Rickey Henderson. Suzuki batted leadoff for the first time this year and went 0 for 4, dropping his average to .200.
Giancarlo Stanton hit his 20th homer for Miami, a solo shot off reliever Pedro Strop in the seventh (see full recap).
Bellinger belts2 home runs, Dodgers cruise to 10th straight win LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers found a new way to extend their winning streak to 10 games, scoring five runs on four wild pitches to go along with two more homers from rookie sensation Cody Bellinger in rallying past the Colorado Rockies 12-6 Sunday.
The Dodgers' string is their longest since they won 10 straight in August 2013. Colorado lost its season-worst fifth in a row.
Rockies reliever Adam Ottavino (1-2) threw four wild pitches in the late innings, all of them scoring at least one run.
Kenley Jansen got five outs for his 17th save, and hit an RBI double for the Dodgers' final run.
Jansen also walked his first batter of the season after striking out 51 in a dominant year (see full recap).
Twins complete sweep of Indians, claim 1st place in AL Central CLEVELAND -- Ervin Santana and the Minnesota Twins are on top of the AL Central again.
Santana struck out seven in six innings, Jason Castro drove in three runs and the Twins swept the Cleveland Indians with a 4-0 victory on Sunday.
Santana (10-4) allowed nine hits, but Cleveland's lineup struggled again. The Indians were shut out twice, went 1 for 23 with runners in scoring position and stranded 30 baserunners in the weekend series.
It was one sweet stay in Cleveland for the Twins, who were swept in a four-game set against the Indians at Target Field last weekend. Minnesota moved a half-game ahead of Cleveland for the division lead (see full recap).
PHOENIX -- Howie Kendrick was not in the Phillies' starting lineup for a fifth straight day on Monday because of a hamstring problem that, as the player said, "hasn't gotten any better, but it hasn't gotten any worse either."
Kendrick can pinch-hit -- he, in fact, had hits in the role on Friday and Sunday -- but playing defense is another matter.
"I kind of stinks because I can function, I can still hit, but as far as getting up to full speed and exploding the way I'd like to, it's still restricting me," he said.
Kendrick's ability to hit -- not to mention his .361 batting average in 122 at-bats -- makes him a prime candidate to serve as the designated hitter when the Phillies open a two-game interleague series Tuesday night in Seattle. But as far as playing second base when the Phillies return to National League action Friday night in New York
That's the issue.
"The trouble with defense youre exploding with every play, especially up the middle," Kendrick said. "I just dont feel as comfortable exploding off it every time. As far as hitting and pinch-hitting goes you can govern that a little more when you run. You can control the rate of speed, but as far as defense you have to react to the ball."
Kendrick could end up on the disabled list if he's not ready to play defense by Friday night.
"Thats something we talked about, but I dont know whats going to happen yet," he said. "Well see."
Kendrick missed six weeks earlier this season with an abdominal injury.
In other health matters, pitcher Jerad Eickhoff will remain on the disabled list and Mark Leiter Jr. will make a second start on Wednesday in Seattle. Leiter filled in for Eickhoff on Friday night and pitched six shutout innings in his first big-league start.
Eickhoff believes he has completely recovered from an upper-back strain.
"I think they just want to err on the side of caution," he said. "I feel like I could throw Wednesday, but in all honestly, maybe that would be too quick. We'd rather be safe than sorry and finish the season strong and not risk a setback. So if we can knock this thing out with three or four more days, that's the way to go."
Eickhoff has felt good in bullpen workouts but has not reached game intensity. It's possible he could make a minor-league rehab start later this week before returning to the rotation next week.
So what is Charlie Manuel doing nowadays?
You just might find him strolling around Center City or shopping at your local Wegmans.
In the latest episode of CSN Philly's At The Yard podcast with our Jim Salisbury, the former Phils skipper joined the show to talk about what he's been up to since retiring from baseball in 2013. The 2008 World Series champion manager is currently a senior advisor for the team, spending part of his time on the road scouting for the Phillies.
Still, one of his favorite things is getting to meet fans who seemingly always "want to touch him" and thank him for bringing the City of Brotherly Love its only title in the last 34 years.
"This lady is on the other side of the store and Wegmans is a big store," Manuel said. "She hollers out loud to me and she goes, 'CHARLIE! Ryan [Howard's] pulling off the ball!' I holler back to her and I said, 'Lady, he's pulling off MVP!!'"
"The people come up and talk to me just like I was a friend like I was their sister or brother or somethingit was unreal. Just name somewhere I'd go, Atlantic City, people would want to come up and talk to me and they'd laugh."
Manuel also talked at length about coaching Jim Thome, benching Jimmy Rollins and a number of other stories from his coaching days.
