Royalton church to host ascension services Thursday – The Southern
Posted: May 22, 2017 at 4:01 am
ROYALTON A church whose tradition closely follows some Biblical teachings will celebrate Jesus' ascension and invites the community to join them at services that begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 25.
The teaching is that 40 days after he is believed to have risen from the dead, Jesus Christ then "ascended," into the heavens, to be with his father, God.
The Holy Ascension of Our Lord will be celebrated at The Protection of the Holy Virgin Mary Church, at112 N Fairdale St.n Royalton. A potluck will follow the divine liturgy; those who attend are asked to bring a dish to share.
Archpriest Frederick Janeek, rector for the church, will lead the services at the Protection of the Holy Virgin Mary Church in Royalton.
He said Thursday night's service is like the liturgy presented each Sunday at the church, but that those who are not familiar with the tradition might want to see what a service looks like. He said is is like the Eastern Orthodox services, older and more elaborate than services from other Christian religions.
"Many of the people here have never seen that worship service," he said. "All the Orthodox churches around the world have done that for 1,600 years."
He joined the church in January 2015 and recently celebated his third Easter at the church. About 30 people attend the Sunday services; the church will celebrate its 103rd anniversary in October.

Residents in Ascension Parish subdivision concerned over gator sightings – WBRZ
Posted: at 4:01 am
ASCENSION PARISH - Neighborhood retention ponds have doubled as drainage management systems and entertainment for the homeowners in local subdivisions. But what's swimming below the surface has some residents concerned.
"We had heard there was an alligator in the lake so we had been watching for it," Richard Peak said.
Peak is one of the many neighbors who's spotted gators swimming in the man-made "lake" behind his home. He managed to snap a picture of the reptile poking its eyes up just above the water's edge.
"We called the Wildlife and Fisheries, and there is a case number to hopefully eliminate the possibility of a nuisance alligator injuring someone's child and possibly someone's pet," Peak said.
While filing a claim with LAWF was step one, neighbors have now begun adjusting their routines. These new, self-imposed rules include no swimming, no fishing, and no letting pets or children near the water.
"It's a relatively small alligator, but small alligators grow up to be big alligators," Peak said. "And if there is one alligator there could be more, so we just need to be prudent and careful that we don't make national news with an alligator attack on a small child."
Peak'sgator sighting was a few weeks ago, but his neighbor snapped another picture of the animal Sunday morning, renewing concerns.
"We will just be happy when Wildlife and Fisheries picks it up and moves it to place it can grow into an adult," Peak said.
Until the gator is captured residents in the subdivision will remain cautious to ensure that these become nothing more.

Ruben De Ronde Exclusive Interview: Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance Has a New Co-Host – The Nocturnal Times
Posted: at 3:56 am
Dance music is reaching new heights, and Ruben De Ronde has been called upon by Armin van Buuren to co-host his weekly A State of Trance radio show. During electronic musics biggest week, we sat down with Ruben to touch base on his recent endeavors, including the release of his debut studio album, My Story, and taking on co-host responsibilities alongside Armin. This summer brings
As if co-hosting one of the worlds biggest radio shows wasnt already a feat in itself, Ruben joins Armin for every episode of ASOT which is now video live streamed across the world. All while the annual ASOT Miami festivities were taking place at the Ultra Music Festival Megastructure, we caught up with Ruben who had also just made his ASOT MIA debut. During our sit-down with Ruben, we discussed his very beginnings exploring the world of electronic music, joining Armin van Buuren as the official new co-host of his A State of Trance radio show, his debut album, My Story, and of course, whats to come. Read the full transcribed conversation with A State of Trances new co-host, Ruben de Ronde, below.
The Nocturnal Times: Were back here in Miami at Ultra Music Festival. What are some things you look forward to most when heading back to Music Week in Miami? Ruben De Ronde: Well, similar to Tomorrowland, they both have very blended crowds. Everybody flies in from all over the world for this event and it sells out very quickly. Its rare if you come across somebody whos here by accident. At Ultra, you either come across locals or those who planned this months in advancethey fly here, book hotels, etc. Everybody knows the music here, so thats another thing that makes Ultra special.
The Nocturnal Times: Youve sort of become an A State of Trance staple yourself now. What can you tell us about your ASOT Miami experiences over the years? How has the annual return of ASOT MIA evolved? Ruben De Ronde: I think the very first time we were here, I didnt really have as big of a role in A State of Trance as I do now. Over the last few years Ive taken on a bigger role. As of a few months ago, Ive even become the co-host of ASOT now every week. It keeps getting bigger and bigger! This is actually the first time that Ive played at the ASOT Miami event at Ultra, which is another big step for me and I can cross off my bucket list.
The Nocturnal Times: How was your ASOT Miami debut? Ruben De Ronde: Well, I mean I wish I could say it was booming the whole time, but I opened the Megastructure (laughs)and by the time people started making their way over my set had already begun. But I will tell you, the energy was still great. And I also have to say, once I came back to the trailereven at the beginning of my set when while the crowd was making their way inside Bayfront Parkthere were so many people tuning in from across the world. We were trending worldwide on Twitter; its like two different worlds.
The Nocturnal Times: Youre co-hosting ASOT now with Armin van Buuren every week. What can you share with us about your co-hosting duties alongside the king of trance since starting the new ASOT Live stream every Thursday? Ruben De Ronde: It has been interesting because I didnt really see Armin all that much before, but we really need to be doing this together every single weekno exceptions. So, its different as well as my role being more integral with the show itself. Its interesting, its a lot of fun!
The Nocturnal Times: Tell us a little bit about your debut album, My Story. How did it come together and how long did it take to complete? Ruben De Ronde: From start-to-finish, Id say it took about three years to complete. In the meanwhile, I also had a computer crash so I lost a lot of files in the process. I have to re-create certain tunes, re-record tons of vocals, but Im really happy about how the end result turned out. Now theres a new album coming out together with David Gravell, Together, which is 16 brand new tracks. The first singles came out already, but it sees its official release in June.
The Nocturnal Times: Taking your hard-drive crash into consideration, which of the tracks on My Story are the most personal for you? Ruben De Ronde: I think one of the tracks from the album that means a lot to me is All In with Kimberly Hale. Its such a deep track, the vocals are quite deep. All In is one of those tunes that is really close to my heart. I actually met Kimberly a few weeks ago for the first time and shes a really, really cool person. All In is definitely one of the tunes I like most.
Stream My Story on Spotify:
The Nocturnal Times: Weve been listening to Moment Of Truthalso featuring vocals from Kimberly Halea lot lately. How did this one come together with Kimberly and LTN? Ruben De Ronde: Yes, the same thing in this case! I was working with LTN for months on tunes and he came with this pitch. Then we both took different routes: I made a clubby version at 128 BPM and LTN went to 118 BPM for a deeper version. So what we did was we took the start and then both went two separate ways, which is how the track actually came about.
The Nocturnal Times: Which of the tracks on the album took the longest to create? Do you sometimes start on a track and then go back to it at a later time or completely neglect a work in progress once near completion? Ruben De Ronde: Actually, a track that didnt make the albumbecause I couldnt finish itis one that Ive just finished recently with Proff. Im going to put that one on the next album. That tune, from start to finish, after sending her the first demo, I got the vocals back and it took me about four years. After about 100 different versions, at a certain point I gave up. I had this whole guitar part in the track and started working with Proffand now its finally finished. I just got the remix in from Bryan Kearney and John OCallaghan, which is really special. Ive been playing that for a while, but now its finally going to be released, which is very cool.
The Nocturnal Times: What would you say are some of your dream artist collaborations? Vocal collaborations? Ruben De Ronde: Hmm vocal, thats an easy question because theres a Norwegian singer, Maria Mena. Shes actually the only single artist that Ive bought a ticket for in the last couple of years, shes just special. I highly suggest you check her out!
The Nocturnal Times: How about a chance to play a back-to-back set with any DJ? Have you ever played a b2b set with this guy (points to Armin van Buuren)? Ruben De Ronde: Actually, no, never (with Armin)! Haha, thats a good question! Ive played b2b with Rodg before. [Since touching base with Ruben, it was announced that he will be playing a back-to-back set with Rodg at Tomorrowland 2017].
The Nocturnal Times: What do you hope for the future of A State of Trance the radio show, especially now that the show has a new co-host (you)? Ruben De Ronde: Well, in a way, we already are living in the future now, with the start of the new ASOT live video broadcast every week. But what I hope is that were broadcasting video stream from tons of other platforms, including those that are already hosting our audio stream every week. Its already starting to happen in The Netherlands. Radio 538 is going to broadcast the radio and the video on their radio and their TV channel, which I hope is going to happen to all of the stations.
The Nocturnal Times: How about your future and your short-term or long-term goals? Ruben De Ronde: I have goals, but I dont share them with anyone (my long term goals, that is!) One of my long-term goals though, was playing at ASOT Miami, and now Ive done that! I also just played at Beyond Wonderland, which was an amazing experience. Im going to be doing four more events with them this year too, so thats something to look out for as well. Also, my new single with Rodg, Riptide, is out now. Im really excited about it because Armin played it three times and Above & Beyond played it too, which I didnt see coming. The Rodg collab is the first single from the Together album with Rodg.
Ruben joins Armin van Buuren this Memorial Day Weekend for an opening set at Echostage in Washington D.C. on Friday, May 26.

Here’s The Latest Information And Rumors Regarding Cyberpunk 2077 – One Angry Gamer (blog)
Posted: at 3:55 am
(Last Updated On: May 18, 2017)
Theres a lot of excitement behind CD Projekt Reds Cyberpunk 2077. Some of the best information about the upcoming project has been from various job listings, which has revealed potential features that could wind up in the game and future events regarding the sci-fi RPG.
Notice: All of the information below should be taken with a grain of salt and may or may not turn up in Cyberpunk 2077. This information comes from CD Projekt Reds job listings, Glixel and a Totalcon 2017 attendee that met Mike Pondsmith, who is behind the upcoming sci-fi RPG.
Job Listings
Firstly, lets take a look at the job listings for Cyberpunk 2077. These listings can offer up quite a bit of information prior to major announcements and/or smaller events. However, they do not ensure that a specific feature or more will make it into a game, but we will look over the most plausible content featured in the job listings, which includes: Environment Artist, Senior Engine Programmer and Senior Animation Programmer.
Starting with the former, the Environment Artist job post highlights physicalized objects and destruction models. This means that a form of destructible environments and movable objects are more than likely to appear around Night City, but the real question is how much will be destructive and how many physics based items will players be able to interact with? While we ponder on that you can read the job listing below.
CD PROJEKT RED in Krakow is looking for an Environment Artist to work on Cyberpunk 2077. The Environment Artist will take responsibility for creating wide range of photorealistic environments in futuristic settings, covering also physicalized objects and destruction models.
Next up comes the Senior Engine Programmer. This position sees optimization as an importance. In other words this means that the REDengine 4 will be tested thoroughly on different PC setups, and platforms like PS4 and Xbox One to see how well Cyberpunk runs. You can read the job listing below.
As a Senior Engine Programmer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing and maintaining parts of our in-house engine both for the PC and the new generation of consoles (PS4, Xbox One). Person on this position will be cooperating with other engine programmers and Director Game Programming in order to create technical solutions meeting desired requirements.
I should note that this next part is not official, but seeing how the game is scheduled to come out either late 2018 through 2021, the game could technically bypass the PS4 and Xbox One and instead focus on their more high-end iterations like the PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio. For example, Bungie did this later into the lifespan of Destiny with the Rise of Iron expansion, which is only for PS4 and Xbox One and not for PS3 and Xbox 360.
The next job listing is just me being a rude boy here, but I thought it was rather funny that CDPR put this in, however the Senior Animation Programmer sees said position focusing on character facial animations, movement and combat, as well as cut-scenes. Hmm didnt a certain AAA game that came out March of 2017 suffer from poor animations that were done by unqualified participants? You know what, I cant remember so instead you can read the listing for the Senior AP:
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES IN A NUTSHELL. Focusing especially on the characters: theirfacial animations, movement, locomotion, combat, etc. as well as cutscenes, camera and the like.
Gangs and Daft Cyberpunks
It wouldnt quite be a cyberpunk title if it didnt feature punks in a cyber world, eh? Well, the original tabletop game and universe featured a list of gang members, one of the gangs that make an appearance quite often are the Boostergangs more information on them and others can be found on the official wikia. We just might see the ruthless, territorial daft-minded cyberpunks in the game, and if other gangs follow suit reputation points may be a thing like in other Sci-Fi games like Destiny and Warframe with syndicate groups.
Combat Zones
This is just speculation, but Combat Zones in the Cyberpunk realm are lawless No Go areas of the Urban Sprawl. The law is non-existent in this region and sees very little sane people traversing through aside from gangs looking to stir up pure chaos. This heavily controlled gang area that is not recommended to lurk around could be where the seamless multiplayer could step in. The Combat Zones could also stand as a hub for PvP or just unsafe areas around the Urban Sprawl in the single-player mode. Of course, this is all just speculation based on the Cyberpunk lore, so take with some salt.
Totalcon 2018
Over on the official Cyberpunk 2077 forum board, a certain user who killed one of the PCs neo-NAZI rockerboy characters on a train at the Totalcon 2017 event, named The Cybersmily, witnessed Mike Pondsmith do a Q&A and noted that
I wasnt able to get into any games that Mike was running. His son Cody was running Witcher there as well which I wasnt able to get in either. Not much of a report so far I know. Mike did a 30 minute Q&A which turned into more of a discuss of how cyberpunk real life has turned into. He talk a little bit about working with CD Projekt Red team. Gave absolutely no details about what they are doing, where the game is, whats been done so far. He only commented about how impressed he was with what he was seeing.
You are probably thinking thats not anything useful!? Actually thats very good information right there. Pondsmith is very specific when it comes to others handling the Cyberpunk realm that he created. He told Glixel that a lot of people want to do a game adaptation but change it way too much, as noted below.
Pondsmith says that since its release, Cyberpunk has been under option almost constantly for a video game adaptation. The closest we got was a mobile game, he says, but they wanted to change it way, way, way too much. CDPR are the first to see it through.
So to see him happy as of 2017 of CDPRs progress means a lot and that it is exactly or near his imagination of the Cyberpunk world that he made. This now leads to Totalcon 2018, which is set to kick off on February 22-25th, 2018. Pondsmith has showed up three times to said event and could possibly show up for a fourth time and speak of Cyberpunk 2077 again. Sadly, only time will tell if he will do so.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to come out with the new tabletop game; both are set to debut when they are ready. For more information on Totalcon 2018 you can hit up totalcon.com.

CF principal puckers for pig – Beaver Dam Daily Citizen
Posted: at 3:51 am
CAMBRIA They didnt put lipstick on a pig, but someone puckered up and kissed one anyway.
Timothy Raymond, who serves as both the early childhood through fifth grade principal and superintendent for the Cambria-Friesland School District, offered up the porcine peck during a school assembly Friday.
The smooch marked the end of the schools reading initiative, launched in December. The school challenged early childhood through fifth grade students to read more than 500,000 minutes before May 17.
Raymond opened the ceremony by sharing the story behind the initiative.
We asked what would it take to get you Cambria-Friesland Elementary students to read more than you ever have before? Raymond said.
He teased the students by saying they considered money, which earned cheers, or candy, which drew an even louder reaction. He cited school budget limitations and high dentist bills for the decision to make him kissing a pig the prize.
Raymond thanked the school staff and the public library for helping track all the minutes provided on weekly reading logs.
Raymond asked third grade teacher Scott Wotruba to open the envelope and reveal the reading minute totals for each class, offering reactions like Not there yet! or Still short as the grade totals were announced.
I dont think that you are adding correctly, Mr. Raymond, Wotruba said.
The total?
Students read 516,981 minutes, which brought eighth grade student Rylee Prochnow into the assembly, cradling a piglet in her arms. Raymond delivered on his promise to the students by laying a smack on the piglets snout.
I am so proud of you, Raymond said to the students. I would kiss a pig 500,000 more times to see you read and grow and learn.

At Notre Dame, Pence attacks campus ‘political correctness’ – Politico

Vice President Mike Pence said Sunday that attacks on freedom of speech on college campuses, including administration-sanctioned political correctness, are on the rise and should not be met with silence.
This university is a vanguard of freedom of expression and the free exchange of ideas at a time, sadly, when free speech and civility are waning on campuses across America, he told the graduating class during a commencement speech at the University of Notre Dame.
Story Continued Below
While this institution has maintained an atmosphere of civility and open debate, far too many campuses across America have become characterized by speech codes, safe zones, tone policing, administration-sanctioned political correctness all of which amounts to nothing less than suppression of the freedom of speech, the vice president added.
The former Indiana governor encouraged the graduates to speak up against the increasing intolerance toward opposing views, which he said are destructive of learning.
As you, our youth, are the future, and universities, the bellwether of thought and culture, I would submit that the increasing intolerance and suppression of the time-honored tradition of free expression on our campuses jeopardizes the liberties of every American, Pence said.
This should not and must not be met with silence.
The vice president might have left thinking he had some confirmation for his views on tolerance.
At the beginning of Pences address, a group of students walked out of the graduation ceremony to protest his presence. The South Bend Tribune said about 150 students and family members took part in the walkout.
GLAAD, a non-profit that advocates for LGBTQ rights, streamed remarks from some of the students who left the ceremony.
"Graduates around the country deserve commencement speakers who inspire them to propel our diverse country forward, and these Notre Dame students bravely told the world that Vice President Pences anti-LGBTQ actions fly in the face of unity and inspiration," GLAAD president Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement.
"These Notre Dame graduates should be applauded for demonstrating true leadership and standing up for freedom and acceptance," she said.
For his part, Pence also commended the new graduates and their approach to freedom of speech.
"Notre Dame is a campus where deliberation is welcomed," Pence said, "where opposing views are debated and where every speaker, no matter how unpopular or unfashionable, is afforded the right to air their views in the open for all to hear."
