Some cryptocurrencies are more imaginative than others at this point. They try to represent debt registries, contracts, or the act of currency exchange itself. It can get a little weird, but ultimately the unitin some way relates to the value of other currency, as is true of all currencies in the world.

Units of cryptocurrency are then created, typically when a transaction occurs. The units are carefully formed and preserved through algorithmic encryption, then linked together in vast chains of data, where the currency can be tracked and exchanged.

However, at this point, cryptocurrency is still too vulnerable and too easy to fake. The currency units need to be timestamped and processed to make them more concrete and harder to copy. A third party developer can do this, but most cryptocurrencies prefer to crowdsource the process to those with the right hardware and software to mine the currency.

Mining uses algorithms to go through each transaction, encrypt the cryptocurrency, and add it to a digital ledger, essentially verifying it and cementing its position online. This process may also be referred to as consensus protocols orconsensus platforms, depending on the currency. This process is meant to make the currency impossible to duplicate, though whether its successful is up for some debate.

Some cryptocurrencies are highly centralized, with someone usually the organization that created the process/software making decisions about how much currency is created and how it is used. Other types are very decentralized, controlled only by how and where people are willing to use them.

Zcash cryptocurrency gets Apple App Store approval via Jaxx’s iOS … – EconoTimes

Privacy-oriented cryptocurrency Zcash has been approved on the Apple App Store via Jaxxs iOS platform.

According to the official announcement, Jaxx, a multi-token blockchain wallet, was the first wallet to integrate Zcash and is excited to now have the cryptocurrency available on its iOS platform. Also, Apple follows a rigorous approval process, particularly for allowing cryptocurrencies onto the App Store. The iPhone makers approval of Zcash signifies that it is a fast-growing and well-respected technology.

Jaxx is a very simple, easy-to-use wallet and the team behind it has been a pleasure to work with. Im delighted that thanks to them, hundreds of millions of iPhone users can, for the first time send and receive Zcash from their phones, Zooko Wilcox, CEO of the company behind Zcash development, Zerocoin Electric Coin Company, said.

Jaxx also revealed that it is in talks with Zcash on the possibility of supporting ZEC shielded addresses. The Tokyo-based exchange, which was handling 70pc of all Bitcoin transactions a year earlier, suspended trading and was eventually liquidated, with approximately $450mdisappearing. Earlier this month, Japan introduced legislation to protect users from being ever stung by a collapse again, while also making Bitcoin exchanges comply with anti-money laundering regulations and officially authorising it as a normal payment method.

In the UK, cryptocurrencies, as payment methods such as Bitcoin are known, still have a confusing legal status. But Japans move could act as a framework and catalyst for widespread adoption.

Dr Cathy Mulligan, co-director of Imperial College Londons Centre for Cryptocurrency Research and Engineering, who believes that insufficient regulation could be holding back startups and the growth of financial technology, rather than creating opportunities through lack of regulatory constraints, says: We have the situation in the UK where many startups are chasing the regulator to say, How are we going to be regulated? rather than the other way round.

Bitcoin in the UK is really treated as private money. If you tried to exchange Bitcoin for sterling you dont get charged VAT on the value of the Bitcoin but it is charged on, for example, the commission instead.

Here's a look at what we are focusing on in the bitcoin price this morning.

Here we go then, fresh out of the weekend and off on another weeks worth of trading in the bitcoin price, Things over the weekend were pretty good to us. After an initial run down towards the end of the week, and what looked as though it might be the start of some longer term fundamental weakness, the bitcoin price picked up its act a little as the weekend progressed, and we saw a nice turnaround.

What this says about action moving forward remains to be seen. Things arent quite as clear as they were a week or so ago. Theres no discernible trend (on the shorter timeframes, that is) and this makes it al little more difficult than normal to set up against a particular frame of risk management parameters.

Difficult, but far from impossible.

So long as we are able to outline some reasonable signal levels, then we should be ok. So, with this in mind, take a quick look at the chart below to get an idea of whats on this morning, and where we are looking to get in and out of the bitcoin price according to the rules of our intraday strategy. Its a fifteen minute (slightly wider than normal) candlestick chart, and its got our range overlaid in green.

As the chart shows, the range were looking at defined by support to the downside at 1202 and resistance to the upside at 1215.

If we see a close above resistance, well look at getting in long towards an immediate upside target of 1225. A stop at 1212 will define risk nicely. Looking short, a close below support will get us into a downside position towards 1190. A stop on this one somewhere in the region of 1206 will ensure that we are taken out of the position in the event that price reverses to trade against us.

Lets see how things play out.

Cargo Ship Launching to Space Station Tuesday: Watch Live in 360 Degrees – Space.com

You can watch the first-ever 360-degree livestream of a rocket launch on Tuesday (April 18).

Orbital ATK's robotic Cygnus cargo spacecraft is scheduled to launch toward the International Space Station (ISS) Tuesday atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket at 11:11 a.m. EDT (1511 GMT) from Florida's Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. You can watch it live here at Space.com, courtesy of NASA TV, or directly at the space agency's YouTube channel.

Cygnus has flown a number of such resupply runs in the past, but this liftoff will be special, from a viewer's perspective at least: You'll be able to get a pad's-eye view, in 360 degrees.

"To view in 360, use a mouse or move a personal device to look up and down, back and forth, for a 360-degree view around Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida," NASA officials wrote in a statement. "Those who own virtual reality headsets will be able to look around and experience the view as if they were actually standing on the launch pad."

The Cygnus is packed with more than 7,600 lbs. (3,450 kilograms) of scientific gear, hardware and supplies for the ISS crew so much cargo that the mission will employ an Atlas V rather than Orbital's own Antares booster, which is not quite as powerful. (An Antares is slated to loft the next Cygnus mission, which will lift off this summer.)

If all goes according to plan, the Cygnus dubbed the S.S. John Glenn, after the first American to orbit the Earth will chase the ISS down for four days, eventually reaching the orbiting lab on Saturday morning (April 22). It will then be grappled by the station's huge robotic arm and installed on the Unity module.

Both Orbital ATK and SpaceX fly robotic cargo missions to the space station for NASA. SpaceX, which uses its Dragon capsule and Falcon 9 rocket, has launched 10 such contracted missions, one of which failed. Tuesday's launch will kick off Orbital's seventh contracted flight. Orbital has suffered one failure as well.

The International Space Station (ISS) orbits the Earth, and it's visible when it flies over Asheville-- if you know where and when to look.

At 8:45 p.m. on Easter Sunday, the ISS will fly over Asheville and be visible as it crosses overhead for four minutes. A great way to remind yourself to look for it is to set an alarm on your cell phone for just a few minutes before the ISS pass.

If skies are clear, look west at 8:45 p.m., and look for the ISS to become visible over the horizon. It will look like a bright, fast-moving star, and will travel overhead and move out of sight into the horizon to the SSE.

Genes in Space Student Experiment Launches to International Space Station – Yahoo Finance

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla., April 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --Julian Rubinfien (16), winner of the Genes in Space competition and a junior at Stuyvesant High School, NY, will launch his DNA experiments to the International Space Station (ISS) on April 18th from Kennedy Space Center, Fla, on cargo resupply mission OA-7. The experiments will be carried out using miniPCR technology aboard the ISS.

Julian's experiments investigate the genetic underpinnings of accelerated aging in space. The first experiment will test if telomeric DNA can be copied in space. Telomeres are protective caps on the ends of chromosomes and are known to shorten in response to stress and aging. Recently, the NASA one-year mission twin study found that Astronaut Scott Kelly's telomeres lengthened during his year in space. Julian's experiment will examine how measuring telomeres in space could enable health monitoring of astronauts during long-term missions.

The second experiment will test whether or not "on-the-spot" DNA-based diagnostic tests can be conducted on the ISS and will be the first of its kind in space. The work will make use of a new colorimetric LAMP (loop-mediated isothermal amplification) method from New England Biolabs to copy and detect specific DNA sequences. Detection of these sequences results in a change in the color of the experimental mixture.

Both experiments will use portable miniPCR DNA analysis technology. The ISS National Lab is a platform for cutting edge research and technology development that enables future deep space exploration. Julian was a student of MA Master Teacher Jessica Quenzer, who served as his mentor throughout the Genes in Space application process.
