Granada CF vs Atletico Madrid La Liga 2016/17: Watch live streaming of Granada vs Atletico Madrid on Sony LIV – India.com

Having easily dealt with Valencia, Atletico will travel to Nuevo Los Carmenes in an attempt to continue on the high note against Granada. The match will commence at 1:30 am IST on 12 March 2017. The match will be telecasted on Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD. Online viewers in India can catch the match on SonyLiv.
Both these sides still have plenty to play for this season with Atleti targeting a top four finish and Granada desperately trying to stay in La Liga. The Andalusians have been getting a few home results of late though and we could see a relatively open game here, as a draw wont do much for either side.
Granada CF are in the eighteenth position, in the dangerous zone for several rounds, but they managed to win several games so if they keep their form in check they might be able to survive in La Liga. In previous five matches, they managed to win twice, but they were defeated in the other three duels.
They improved their home performances significantly, and now they are without a defeat in previous four clashes at Carmenes (W4 D1), but also Granada was winning at both half time and full time in previous three home fixtures.
On the other hand, Atletico have been brutal in head to head clashes with Granada. The team from Vicente Calderon took as many as nine wins and played two draws in 11 matches with Nazaries. Atletico Madrid will surely try to use the slip up by Sevilla on Monday and to get closer to third-placed team, but still seven points separate the two teams.
In previous round they welcomed Valencia, but this season team from Mestalla cant compete against Worlds top teams like Atletico, especially not while Griezmann is on fire. In away games this season, Atletico was defeated three times so far, whilst winning and drawing five games each. They are also unbeaten in 10 out of the last 11 games, with only defeat coming against Barcelona in a recent clash that ended 1:2 at Vicente Calderon.
Possible starting lineups
Granada: Ochoa; Silva, Hongla, Ingason; Hector, Uche, Wakaso, Foulquier; Pereira, Ramos, Cuenca
Atletico Madrid: Oblak; Vrsaljko, Savic, Goodin, Luis; Gaitan, Koke, Niguez, Carrasco; Correa, Griezmann

Nick Ferrari: Political correctness is turning our police into social services – Express.co.uk
Posted: at 8:16 pm
GETTY
Police in Durham are to hand out free heroin to drug users. They say it will both cut crime and save money and will encourage addicts to keep to the straight and narrow.
But the cost per addict per annum is an eye-watering 15,000. This is utter nonsense. All this will achieve is to give addicts clean fixes.
Surely the only aim here should be to get these addicts off drugs and its darned difficult to envisage how that would happen.
Campaigners say that addiction is an illness akin to cancer and the victim should be treated in a similar fashion. In some instances there will be some justification for that view.
When will our PCs stop being so PC?
Nick Ferrari
Someone unfortunate enough to have little or no parental guidance, who then goes on to fail at school, finds it impossible to get a job then has a disastrous relationship with a partner, is likely to seek something that numbs the ceaseless pain and dims consciousness of their appalling situation.
Obviously, sympathy and help should be afforded to them, but giving them free heroin is not the answer. Then, there are those who commit a litany of offences to fuel their habit and the insanity of this madcap scheme will actually reward them.
So lets get this straight: taxpayers cash will be spent to fund a criminals lifestyle and the drugs handed over by the police. Who came up with this idea, Pete Doherty?
GETTY
Current legislation against drugs has failed and the long line of police chiefs who have promised to wage war on drugs have come up empty-handed.
Its not entirely their fault as, in many cases, the courts have failed to impose the sorts of sentences that could be seen to have any effect but the prevalence of drug use increases by the day.
The drugs are easier to come by and are cheaper and the money the dealers can make continues to increase as demand soars.
Justifying the plan in Durham, Chief Constable Mike Barton said: We need to get over our moral panic about giving people heroin as part of a treatment plan. Our primary concern is to prevent crime... Addiction is a medical problem not a criminal justice problem.
And there we have it. A senior police officer lecturing us about why we need not panic over giving free drugs to junkies. What if one of these addicts has 18 months of free heroin and then goes back to crime?
Do you suppose we get our 22,500 back? No, me neither.
Sadly, this is just another step in the path of decline for our police who are being turned into social workers. Their authority is constantly diminished and then politicians are baffled when crime increases.
On Friday it was revealed that knife crime has increased to the highest level in six years and this is in no small way due to the restrictions imposed on police by Theresa May when she was Home Secretary to limit the amount of stop and searches.
Police have to explain why they are stopping a possible suspect and then give them a sheet detailing everything that took place.
GETTY
While I am not advocating people being routinely dragged off the streets and hurled into the back of a van by police and kept in a darkened cell for hours, surely the balance has gone the other away.
There are still plenty of good police officers out there, I speak with them regularly on my call-in breakfast radio show, and they are even more frustrated with how their hands are tied than we are.
The role of the police is to protect us and lock up the bad guys. Positioning themselves almost as NHS outreach workers is not the way forward, but just when will our PCs stop being so PC?
It is a scandal that many of the relatives of those who lost their lives in the calamitous Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts were not invited to the unveiling of a memorial to the fallen by the Queen in London last week.
PA
More than 600 servicemen and women laid down their lives in those wars so who on Earth took the decision not to offer invitations to their families?
Occupying some of the best seats, instead, were members of the Royal Family and current and former senior politicians, which is right even in the case of Tony Blair, the man who took us into the disastrous wars, as he would have been damned if he did attend and equally damned if he did not.
However, why were former ambassadors invited instead of proud family members? It wouldnt have brought all those brave men and women back, but it would have showed how much the lost ones were valued.
What is it with this Government and doctors? As if they are not bruised enough after their lengthy battle with the junior doctors there is now a plan to allow patients to name and shame GPs with long waiting times.
Architects of the scheme say it will encourage surgeries to improve. Cobblers. It will sour the relationship between patient and doctor and demoralise our GPs yet further.

Eugenics was a progressive cause | Columns … – Weatherford Democrat
Posted: at 8:16 pm
WASHINGTON The progressive mob that disrupted Charles Murrays appearance last week at Middlebury College was protesting a 1994 book read by few if any of the protesters. Some of them denounced eugenics, thereby demonstrating an interesting ignorance: Eugenics controlled breeding to improve the heritable traits of human beings was a progressive cause.
In The Bell Curve, Murray, a social scientist at the American Enterprise Institute, and his co-author, Harvard psychologist Richard J. Herrnstein, found worrisome evidence that American society was becoming cognitively stratified, with an increasingly affluent cognitive elite and a deteriorating quality of life for people at the bottom end of the cognitive ability distribution. They examined the consensus that, controlling for socioeconomic status and possible IQ test bias, cognitive ability is somewhat heritable, that the black/white differential had narrowed, and that millions of blacks have higher IQs than millions of whites. The authors were resolutely agnostic concerning the roles of genes and the social environment. They said that even if there developed unequivocal evidence that genetics are part of the story, there would be no reason to treat individuals differently or to permit government regulation of procreation.
Middleburys mob was probably as ignorant of this as of the following: Between 1875 and 1925, when eugenics had many advocates, not all advocates were progressives but advocates were disproportionately progressives because eugenics coincided with progressivisms premises and agenda.
Progressives rejected the Founders natural rights doctrine and conception of freedom. Progressives said freedom is not the natural capacity of individuals whose rights pre-exist government. Rather, freedom is something achieved, at different rates and to different degrees, by different races. Racialism was then seeking scientific validation, and Darwinian science had given rise to social Darwinism belief in the ascendance of the fittest in the ranking of races. The progressive theologian Walter Rauschenbusch argued that with modern science we can intelligently mold and guide the evolution in which we take part.
Progressivisms concept of freedom as something merely latent, and not equally latent, in human beings dictated rethinking the purpose and scope of government. Princeton University scholar Thomas C. Leonard, in his 2016 book Illiberal Reformers: Race, Eugenics & American Economics in the Progressive Era, says progressives believed that scientific experts should be in societys saddle, determining the human hierarchy and appropriate social policies, including eugenics.
Economist Richard T. Ely, a founder of the American Economic Association and whose students at Johns Hopkins included Woodrow Wilson, said God works through the state, which must be stern and not squeamish. Charles Van Hise, president of the University of Wisconsin, epicenter of intellectual progressivism, said: We know enough about eugenics so that if that knowledge were applied, the defective classes would disappear within a generation. Progress, said Ely, then at Wisconsin, depended on recognizing that there are certain human beings who are absolutely unfit, and who should be prevented from a continuation of their kind. The mentally and physically disabled were deemed defectives.
In 1902, when Wilson became Princetons president, the final volume of his A History of the American People contrasted the sturdy stocks of the north of Europe with southern and eastern Europeans who had neither skill nor energy nor any initiative of quick intelligence. In 1907, Indiana became the first of more than 30 states to enact forcible sterilization laws. In 1911, now-Gov. Wilson signed New Jerseys, which applied to the hopelessly defective and criminal classes. In 1927, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Virginias law, with Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes saying that in affirming the law requiring the sterilization of imbeciles he was getting near to the first principle of real reform.
At the urging of Robert Yerkes, president of the American Psychological Association, during World War I the Army did intelligence testing of conscripts so that the nation could inventory its human stock as it does livestock. The Armys findings influenced Congress postwar immigration restrictions and national quotas. Carl Brigham, a Princeton psychologist, said the Armys data demonstrated the intellectual superiority of our Nordic group over the Mediterranean, Alpine and Negro groups.
Progressives derided the Founders as unscientific for deriving natural rights from what progressives considered the fiction of a fixed human nature. But they asserted that races had fixed and importantly different natures calling for different social policies. Progressives resolved this contradiction when, like most Americans, they eschewed racialism the belief that the races are tidily distinct, each created independent of all others, each with fixed traits and capacities. Middleburys turbulent progressives should read Leonards book. After they have read Murrays.

Teaching of evolution, climate change at stake in Naples legislator Donalds’ bill – Naples Daily News
Posted: at 8:15 pm
Byron Donalds(Photo: Submitted)
It has been more than three years since a School Board meeting in Volusia County was canceled after a heated dispute over what some considered to be pro-Islam content in a history textbook raised safety concerns about potential violence.
Dozens of protesters gathered before the meeting, holding signs with messages such as Stop Teaching Lies.
But the battle over what should be taught in classrooms still is raging, and it hasexpanded to the state level.
Last week, state Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Naples, introduced House Bill 989, which specifiescriteria classroom materials must meet.
It states these materials must provide a noninflammatory, objective, and balanced viewpoint on issues, be free of pornography and be age-appropriate.
If passed, the bill also would give all taxpayersthe right to dispute these materials in front of a school board.
In Donaldshometown in Collier County, that right is reserved for parents only.
Donalds, whose three sons attend a charter school in Southwest Florida, said the bill is intended to ensure children are exposed to quality instructional material that adheres to Florida standards and to provide an easily accessible way for the public to vet classroom materials.
Donalds said the purpose of his bill is not to accomplish a defined outcome.
His critics and there are many argue the bill would giveskeptics of evolution and climate change a platform to influence how those subjects are taught in classroomsor whether theywould be taught at all.
In the extreme case, is that possible? Yes, Donalds said. But (somecritics) are trying to read down a slippery slope that doesnt exist.
Donalds emphasized such changes could be made only if approved by a school board.
The CollierCounty School Board now is made up of three moderate and two conservative members, one of which is Donalds'wife, Erika. If the bill is passed, significantmodificationsto thecurriculum would be highly unlikely.
But three seats will be up for election in 2018, and if those are won by conservatives, the county could see major changes in what students are taught.
Many districts in Florida are conservative, and those values and ideologies already might be reflected in their elected school board members.
This has caused a chilling effect on teachers, said Brandon Haught, a high school biology and environmental science teacher in Orange City, Florida.
He isa founding member of Florida Citizens for Science, a group that describes their mission as defending against attacks on science education from lawmakers.
Haught said many people find the teaching of evolution and climate change inflammatory and unbalanced, so, if Donalds' bill becomes law, anyone who pays tax on a cup of coffee while visiting Floridacould advocateteaching creationism and that climate change isn't caused by humans.
If the majority of the school board agreed, those topics would be integrated into the curriculum of each public school in that district.
We would definitely not want that being taught in a science classroom, because, well, its not science, Haught said.
Keith Flaugh, co-director of the Florida Citizens Alliance, a conservative group that helped write the language for the bill, doesnt deny the possibility of that outcome.
So long as the material is presented in a balanced way, thats fair game, he said. We want kids to get a balanced view of the world, not an indoctrinated view of the world.
Mike Mogil, co-owner of Mathworks Tutoring in Naples and a former meteorologist, said if the bill is passed, he, as a non-parent, wouldchallenge how climate change is taught.
I would be there in front of the school board, Mogil said. If were going to teach climate change, lets teach it in the context of geological changes. Not to say that humans are great stewards of planet Earth we are not but CO2 produced by humans is not the primary cause.
However, Flaugh said exposing children to such alternative views isnt the intention of the bill.
Our kids should not be pawns between the Rs and the Ds, he said.
Flaugh said he identified 60 textbooks used in several Florida counties that he thinksviolate Florida standards because they contain abusive material.
This is not just about pornography," he said. "This is not just about religious indoctrination. This is not just about political indoctrination. This is about the total rewriting of our constitutional values.
Andrea Messina, executive director of the Florida School Board Association, said she thinks teachers and administrators do a good job of vetting school materials and ensuring they comply with Florida standards.
People dont just randomly bring in books for no reason, she said.
However, Messina embraces the idea of opening up the materials vetting process to taxpayers. She said it would encourage parents to become more involved and open up an important dialogue that would make us be more intentional about what we use and why we use it.
State Sen. Kathleen Passidomo, R-Naples, disagrees. She said the bill has good policy intent but that the vetting process shouldnt be left up to all taxpayers.
The whole random nature of it would make it chaotic," Passidomo said. "I dont think theyre accomplishing what they intended to.
Donalds said one reason he hopes to expand vetting rights to the public is to help relieve parents of that responsibility.
If you have two or three children and you work all day and take your kids to extracurricular activities and put food on the table, its so incredibly difficult to find the time to sit there and go through that process, he said.
We should let the public, who funds education, have a seat at the table, Donalds said.
In Collier County, that process requires parents to go directly to their childrens teachers to express their concerns.
If a solution isnt reached with the teacher, the problem would be presented to the principal, then the districts curriculum specialist and then the School Board.
Collier County School Board vice chairwoman Erika Donalds Byron Donalds' wife said she is not happy with the status quo.
Theres excessive red tape," she said. "The process really discourages anyone from bringing up an issue.
Furthermore, she said, some Florida counties dont have a defined process for how parents can challenge their childrens curricula in front of a school board.
Anyone can voice an opinion during the public comments part of a school board meeting, but many proponents of the bill say such speakers arent taken seriously.
The school board has the purview to largely ignore them, Byron Donalds said. We all know that doesnt actually put you in the game.

What Do Sex, Lent, UFO’s, Evolution, and the Shroud of Turin Have in Common? – Patheos (blog)

Theyre all, in one way or another, connected with Catholicism. Thats how theyre related. These also happen to be the topics covered in the TOP10 trending posts on this blog this week.
And why shouldnt they?
Dappled Things argues Flannery OConnor apparently neversaid, You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you odd, but she was right anyway:
The reader of today has forgotten the cost of truth, even in fiction. I dont believe that you can impose orthodoxy on fiction. I do believe that you can deepen your own orthodoxy by reading if you are not afraid of strange visions. Our sense of what is contained in our faith is deepened less by abstractions than by an encounter with mystery in what is human and often perverse.
In other words, The Catholic Imaginationteaches that God is close to all of the phenomena of the sublunar world, even, or especially, the weird ones:
In new book news, the Catholic-friendly Calvinist press Eerdmans(mouthful, isnt it?)has a new book of essays by Catholic and Protestant theologians on the topic of Evolution and the (traditional) non-literal reading of Gensis entitled Evolution and the Fall:
What does it mean for the Christian doctrine of the Fall if there was no historical Adam? If humanity emerged from nonhuman primatesas genetic, biological, and archaeological evidence seems to suggestthen what are the implications for a Christian understanding of human origins, including the origin of sin?
Evolution and the Fall gathers a multidisciplinary, ecumenical team of scholars to address these difficult questions and others like them from the perspectives of biology, theology, history, Scripture, philosophy, and politics

Now thats an excellent group of top-notch scholars!
Im only surprised that Conor Cunningham, author of an important Eerdmans book on evolution and theology, Darwins Pious Idea, didnt make the list. His work is featured alongside the words of Benedict XVI in the post Did Darwin Kill God? Heres a brief summary of the Cunninghams book in BBCdocumentary form:

4 Techniques For Reducing Ego In Your Daily Life – Collective Evolution
Posted: at 8:15 pm
We're creating a positive news network. We need your help.
The word ego has such a negative connotation. We refer to people with a detrimental amount of narcism as having big egos. And often, we find our ego is the biggest force between what we think we can do, and what we can actually do.
The ego is an energetic form or structure within our individual experiences that separates us from our higher self. It is, in a sense, a false sense of self. The ego hides behind the I and me in such statements as:
I am ugly.
I am perfect.
I could never do that.
No one can ever do that as good as me.
No one loves me.
Having such thoughts, and agreeing with even the faintest conviction that they define us, creates and supports the ego.
However, it is easy to be unaware when this is happening to you, and so we find ourselves stuck trying to discern the difference between what is really us, and what is simply the ego. After all, we have spent years living our true selves, as well as building our ego self-images. But the two do not have to coincide. In fact, it is completely possible to extract the genuine self out of the grip of falsities that merely create daily obstacles in our lives.
Here are four examples of opportunities to reduce ego in daily lives:
Many of the successes that come to define us are merely meant to feed the ego. In the words ofEckhart Tolle, On a deeper level you are already complete. When you realize that, there is a playful, joyous energy behind what you do. Your achievements do not make you a better person, but they do make your ego feel this way. When you feel inclined to share a success of yours, try practicing giving credit to someone else, such as a mentor who helped you.
Humility is one of those words that makes many of us cringe. People fear being embarrassed; being humiliated. But there is nothing noble about escaping such a fate. Embracing humility robs the ego of its comfort zone. And in moments when you open your arms to such a thing, you will find you arent thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.
Its easy to get caught up in the what-ifs of life. What if you dont fit in? What if people dont like you? Once again, this is merely your ego hindering you from living your life to its fullest. Dont get attached to such questions or concerns, and instead embrace the discomfort as a transition from what you dont yet know to what you soon will.
Though your thoughts, feelings, and words are important, its easy to put them on such a pedestal that you stop listening to others, even cutting them off to insert your viewpoints.Allowing others to truly hold the floor allows you to develop better listening skills as well. There is a reason people use objects in groups to symbolize whose turn it is to speak, while others must listen until they have passed the object onward. Humans can be impatient, yes, but its really more about the desire to speak your mind. This is merely the ego, however.
Your life path number can tell you A LOT about you.
