Human Genetic Engineering : History 4.93/5 (98.56%) 111 votes

Human Genetic Engineering History goes back to the 1919 when an engineer from Hungary gave a term biotechnology to products developed by using raw materials. The engineer made use of this term in its best possible sense. Civilizations in the ancient times discovered that a lot of products can be made by using micro-organisms.

However, people that time have no idea about there are active agents in the microbes. Back in 7000 B.C. some existing tribes also made precious discoveries about how to make beer using yeast. TheHuman Genetic Engineering History continues going ahead since those times. There is a lot of difference between Biotechnology and genetic engineering.

In one hand, gene manipulation is the result of equating biotechnology. However, many aspects are there that define biotechnology. On the other hand, genetic engineering came to perspective, because of its specific technique for manipulating genes.

The term Human Genetic Engineering made it presence felt in 1970. This is the time when several methods were devised with the help of molecular biologists for identifying or for isolating clone genes. Methods were also devised for manipulating the genes to other species or for mutating them in humans.

Restrictive enzymes got discovered during this research, and many have considered as the main success in the Human Genetic Engineering History. This enzyme can make organisms to isolate the DNA, and then it gets mixed with a vector preparation. Hybrid molecules can easily be generated with the sticky ends virtue. This molecule contains interest genes that can later get inserted into the vector.

Ethical concerns involved in Human Genetics

Many scientists knew that a lot of risk is there during the transfer of genes from one person to the other. Human Genetic Engineering History contains all the factors responsible for the invention of genetic engineering as a part of advance sciences. They found that their labs have been poised when they started experimenting clone genes.

Scientists also organized several meetings in order to discuss the risks involved in the transformation of genes. All scientists were given a chance to keep their points of view on the above subject. They made discussion on all the dangers that can potentially take place during their research. However, the meeting went unprecedented.

In this meeting, they made necessary or relevant decisions regarding the amount of time that might be needed for sorting out the solution. Certain guidelines came to existence for the recombinant organism biological and physical isolation. This should be done for ensuring that the organisms do not get mixed with the environment. Human Genetic Engineering History involves profound or numerous consequences.

Even if these recombinant organisms get mixed in the environment, then there will still be some time to make sure that it does effect the environment to a great effect. Gene cloning was at its peak position, and known to people of all religions and tribes by the end of 1976. Human Genetic Engineering History also involves the different advantages of advantages and disadvantage gene therapy can have on the living things.

First to Review

Since this is the first review I figure I'll be DETAILED... This is the spot that used to be Vain Nightclub. I think it literally switched over in the last week or so. I went for a friend's bday party last Sat. night - had never beent to Vain and knew nothing about this place.

We got there a little after 11. No line. There was a cover (not sure how much), but we had a "password" for the door so free for our party. We went up the 2nd floor first. Music was very B96-y and that's fine by me for a drunk night out.

The dance floor was pretty small and spilled right on up to the bar. I didn't dance much...we mostly stayed posted at the bar because service was SLOW and BAD. The bartender was a total bitch! The special was $5 Patron or O-bomb shots, but they were the warmest fucking Patron shots I've ever had poured...not that this deterred us from approx 10 rounds throughout the night..ughhh. Drinks were normal club prices, but at least Belvedere was the standard "vodka tonic" pour. When i bought a round, the bitch bartender (by the way howwww are tehre only 2 horrble bartenders for an entire floor of a bar/club??) asked if I wanted to close it out or leave it open. I said go ahead and close it and she said, "Well it's only $28 - the minimum is $30"...THEN WHY DID YOU ASK ME? Moron. There was a big fat over-use of a fog/smoke machine that kept choking us eww. A waterfall wall with 2 half-naked butterface dancer girls bouncing on it. Really sweaty/hot in there even away from the dance floor. Cramped.

We eventually headed downstairs where it was less crowded and sweaty, and the bartender guy there was "ok" except they ran out of Patron around 2am. WTF? You are a BAR. It's Patron. LAME! We closed out our tab at last call, left to grab a cab, and when we are seated in the cab and closing the door the bartender runs out after us and makes us come back in because he can't find our signed tab. MORON. Then the manager was a complete prick to me when i defended my bf by saying it was the bartender's bad not ours. The greasy little douchebag in a cheap suit manager yelled at me and told me to "watch my voice". Uggh watch your employees you balding fuck.

I would give a "2", but overall I had a lot of fun with my friends. Prices were expected. It was pretty diverse (a lot of Asians - including my friend, pretty large amount of black and latino partiers). It was a nice change from hipster Wicker Park or frat boy/yuppie Lakeview/Lincoln Park...especially for being so close to the heart of LP. Fun music - mostly hiphop. I would go again unless we had to pay a cover.

NCTE Principles for Intellectual Freedom in Education

All students have the right to materials and educational experiences that promote open inquiry, critical thinking, diversity in thought and expression, and respect for others. Denial or restriction of this right is an infringement of intellectual freedom. Toward this end, NCTE encourages school communities to generate, implement, and follow policies and procedures for defending intellectual freedom at the classroom, institution, and system/campus levels to limit and/or address attacks on free expression. NCTE offers advice, helpful documents, and other support to teachers faced with challenges to texts (e.g. literary works, films and videos, drama productions) or teaching methods used in their classrooms and schools.

There are several ways to report an incident:

Millie Davis, Director, Intellectual Freedom Center

The materials below have been identified by teachers as most useful in preventing and combating censorship.

Students' Right to ReadGives model procedures for responding to challenges, including "Citizen's Request for Reconsideration of a Work."

Guidelines for Selection of Materials in English Language Arts Programs Presents criteria and procedures that ensure thoughtful teacher selection of novels and other materials.

Rationales for Teaching Challenged BooksRich resource section included table of contents of NCTE's Rationales for Commonly Challenged Books CD-ROM, an alphabetical list of other rationales on file, the SLATE Starter Sheet on "How to Write a Rationale," and sample rationales for Bridge to Terabithia and The Color Purple.

Guidelines for Dealing with Censorship of Nonprint MaterialsOffers principles and practices regarding nonprint materials.

Defining and Defending Instructional Methods Gives rationales for various English language arts teaching methods and other defenses against common challenges to them.

Isabel Allendewrites a letter to defend her book The House of the Spirits

Judy Blume has some "Good Words" to share.

Chris Crutchertells us "How They Do It"

NCTE actively began fighting censorship in the 1950's. McCarthyism spurred NCTE to take a more active stance against censorship and, in 1953, NCTE's Committee on Censorship of Teaching Materials published Censorship and Controversy, condemning McCarthy's tactics and championing freedom of thought. In 1962 NCTE published its seminal intellectual freedom guideline The Students' Right to Read, that led to today's active Anti-Censorship program which works with 60-100 educators and school districts a year on challenges to texts used in classrooms. Over these years the Council has voiced its opposition to censorship and promoted intellectual freedom as portrayed in this video clip from the NCTE Centennial Film.
