Freedom Autosport’s Whitis and Long hope to clinch ST championship at Lime Rock
Posted: September 27, 2012 at 7:15 am
LAKEVILLE, Conn.Last year, Freedom Autosports Derek Whitis and Tom Long won the ST race at Lime Rock Park. This year, theyll be happy just to finish in the top six. Thats where the duo will have to place in order to clinch their first GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge championship.

Mazda Raceway was a great result and the team really deserved it. They worked amazingly hard all weekend, says Whitis, who took the ST pole at Lime Rock in 2011. Lime Rock Park is the type of track where anyone could win, so we'll do our best for Mazda, the team, and most importantly, all the veterans and troops who protect our freedom.
For Freedom Autosport, doing our best means approaching the season finale with the same strategy and commitment that has helped the team be a consistent top-ten finisher all season. We can't stress about the points lead. We simply have to do the best job we can and focus on getting Freedom Autosport and Mazda another top race result, says Long.
For Rhett ODoski and Andrew Carbonell in the No. 26 Freedom Autosport Mazda MX-5, the Lime Rock race will be about redemption. ODoski qualified third there last year and Carbonell was battling for the race lead when a collision sent the Mazda off-track, where it flipped six times.
We finished second at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and now were looking for another top finish to end the season on a high note, says ODoski. Weve proven that the MX-5 is a competitive car at Lime Rock, and were anxious to get a result that matches our potential at that track.
There is certainly a lot of potential for co-drivers Tyler Cooke and Dillon Machavern in the No. 8 Freedom Autosport Mazda MX-5. Both drivers are just 18 years old, but Cooke already has a wealth of GRAND-AM experience as a member of Freedom Autosport. He has also stood atop the Lime Rock podium in Skip Barber competition. Machavern is making his series debut at Lime Rock, bringing with him a successful track record in Spec Miata racing.

Liberty Ross wearing wedding ring
Posted: at 7:15 am
Liberty Ross has been seen wearing her wedding band for the first time since her husband Rupert Sanders cheated on her with Kristen Stewart.
The model removed her band after husband Rupert Sanders was seen cheating on her with 'Twilight' actress Kristen Stewart in July, but on a night out at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood on Tuesday (25.06.12) she had it back on.
It is the first time the British beauty - who played Kristen's on-screen mother in 'Snow White and the Huntsman, which her husband directed - has been spotted with the ring on since the scandal.
However, Rupert has been seen wearing his.
In August, the 33-year-old star was said to be still deciding what to do after seeing pictures of Rupert - with who she has two children and has been married to for 10 years - with Kristen in July, and had not decided whether divorce was the best option.
A source said: 'Nothing has been filed. It's still too early to tell what will happen.
'She is talking to and seeing Rupert now for the kids, but as far as the marriage she's still processing everything that happened.'

Rupert Sanders' estranged wife Liberty Ross stepped out Tuesday in L.A. wearing a big diamond ring -- on her middle finger.
The 33-year-old British model attended the Nokia Music launch concert for Janelle Monae at Club Nokia. Ross, who happily smiled for photographers on the carpet, looked skinny in a leather jacket and leather pants.

Since Us Weekly broke the news that director Sanders, 41, had cheated with his Snow White and the Huntsman star, Kristen Stewart, 22, in mid-July, Ross hasn't been wearing her wedding ring.
On Tuesday, Ross still chose not to wear her ring, but she did accessorize her middle finger with a huge diamond rock.

Sanders and Ross have two children together, Skyla, 7, and Tennyson, 5. Last week, the supermodel stepped out with her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Taylor, to attend The Serpentine Gallery party in London.
As revealed in the new issue of Us, on stands Friday, Stewart has recently reunited with her boyfriend, Robert Pattinson. Pattinson, 26, and his Twilight costar/girlfriend of three years have now moved back into together.

As for Sanders and Ross' relationship? A source told Us late last month, "It's too early to tell what will happen with them."

Liberty City Village plans need revamping
Posted: at 7:15 am
When first hearing about the Liberty City Transit Hub (now Village), there was anticipation that the site where this project is to be placed would potentially showcase a unique mix of increased commercial activity coupled with public transportation and other amenities.
Yet, even against the focused opposition of local business owners and community residents, county officials are still pushing what is essentially just another mega housing project that is sorely inappropriate for this specific commercial location.
Whats still very curious is that the word transit is still featured as part of this projects name.
And the Carver signage featured in the rendering, which may or may not be included in the final product, doesnt disguise what is really being proposed.
What county officials continue to ignore, with specific disregard to socially sensitive areas like Liberty City, is the direct correlation between how the built environment is developed and its longstanding impact on the areas social and resultant economic potential.
The social aspects the much too frequent and severe criminal behavior have a clear, yet unspoken, psychological root.
Unemployment issues arent lost in this equation as these issues have a direct bearing on the communitys psyche as well.
The degree of sensitivity to which the built environment is developed can assist in foundationally remedying many of these ills, if given proper exploration.
Given the complexity of this sites context, the tangible and intangible issues surrounding this site and area, housing shouldnt be its focus.
Housing projects, new and not so new, are already peppered in abundance throughout the area with no real balance of creative amenity that the overall area beckons.

Yesterday, Azealia Banks was set to officially release herFantasea track "Esta Noche" as a single. However, as Complex reports, the track was pulled after Banks failed to secure permission from producer Munchi, who claims his track was stolen by Banks for the mixtape. Naturally, the two artists proceeded to air their beef on Twitter.
Munchi attacked Banks, writing, "noreleasing my track, being a spoiled brat, releasing coverwork, release dates before even reaching out is a good look right?" He then said "the deal is off," claiming that he'd been offered $25,000 by Banks' camp for his consent. (That number was later seemingly confirmed by one ofBanks' tweets.) Munchi then wrote that they doubled the number to $50,000. Herefusedthe moneyand lashed out at Banks:
Everyone who wanna download the track - it is already out. She stole my track on her mixtape Fantasea without permission.
Bitch trying to buy me off after trying to blame me on this shit, fuck outta here. "25.000 and a public apology" GTFO with this bitchshit.
Industry thinks its alright to be like this and fuck people over. Everyone takes it in the ass and take their apology money. Fuck off.
I don't give a fuck who you are - if bitch is your nature I do not fuck with you. I DO NOT WANT YOUR MONEY MY NIGGA. Respect is not bought.
@azealiabanksgood luck being a dickriding, trackstealing, sorry excuse for a artist. Have fun with the fame - it'll get back at ya.
Banks tweeted that the single wouldn't be released, but that she would shoot a video for "Esta Noche" anyway. She also added that "@originalmunchithinks I'm in the illuminati." A more recent tweet: "@originalmunchiI suggest you shut the fuck up... Seriously."
Complex has a lengthy statement from Munchi, where he lays out his side of the story. He details the origin of the track, talks about how it was used in Fantaseawithout permission, and discusses the state of the music industry.Read the full statementhere.

In U.N. speech, Egypt's Morsi rejects broad free speech rights
Posted: at 7:13 am
UNITED NATIONS Egypt's recently elected President Mohamed Morsi on Wednesday rejected President Obama's view of free speech rights and made plain his ambition to seize greater influence for the Arab world's most populous country.
Morsi, in his debut speech to the U.N. General Assembly, said Egypt intended to lead the way in resolving Syria's civil war, pressing the cause of Palestinians and defusing the threat of nuclear proliferation in the Middle East.
He also said that though his country now embraces democracy and human rights, it would not accept the categorical approach to free speech that Obama urged at the United Nations and would not tolerate insults to religion.
"Egypt respects freedom of expression," he said, but "one that is not used to incite hatred against anyone. One that is not directed toward one specific religion or cult."
He called on the U.N. to consider international action to crack down on speech that defames religions.
Morsi's comments addressed a disagreement between Muslim and Western leaders that has surfaced this month since an anti-Islamic video made in the U.S. ignited protests and set off deadly attacks in nearly two dozen countries in the Muslim world. Muslim leaders have demanded that Western governments crack down on such expression, while Western governments have insisted that they must allow full free speech rights.
Yemen President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi, in his remarks, also rejected protection of speech that criticizes religion. "There should be limits for the freedom of expression, especially if such freedom blasphemes the beliefs of nations and defames their figures," Hadi said.
Obama, in his U.N. address Tuesday, pressed Muslim countries to accept the Western approach.
World leaders have been studying Morsi closely since the longtime Muslim Brotherhood member became president in June. The Obama administration has been concerned that Morsi might take a more assertive stand on Israel than his predecessor, Hosni Mubarak, who was ousted last year.
Morsi said his "first issue" would be to press the cause of the Palestinians at a time when peace negotiations with a Palestinian state appear dead in the water. He also called for a regional conference this year on nuclear proliferation in the Mideast, and appeared to scold both Israel and Iran, condemning countries that don't join the international nonproliferation treaty and signatories that don't follow its rules.

Orbital debris sets off space station alert
Posted: at 4:14 am
Space officials are keeping a watchful eye on two different pieces of space junk that may force the International Space Station to steer away from potential impact threats.
Debris from the Russian COSMOS satellite and a fragment of a rocket from India may come close enough to the space station to require a debris avoidance maneuver. If needed, the maneuver would be done using the ESAs Automated Transfer Vehicle "Edoardo Amadi." The ATV was supposed to undock on Tuesday night, but a communications glitch forced engineers to postpone the departure.
Both pieces of debris are edging just inside the so-called "red zone" of miss distance to the station with a time of closest approach calculated to occur Thursday at 10:42 a.m. ET. It is not known how large the object is.
An approach of debris is considered close only when it enters an imaginary "pizza box" region around the station, measuring 1.5 by 50 by 50 kilometers (about a mile deep, by 30 miles across, by 30 miles long) with the vehicle in the center.
NASA says the three-person Expedition 33 crew is in no danger and continues its work on scientific research and routine maintenance. The current crew includes NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, Japanese astronaut Akihiko Hoshide and Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko.
If the maneuver is required and NASA said it could be called off any time it would occur at 8:12 a.m. ET Thursday, using the engines on the ATV, which remains docked to the aft port of the station's Zvezda service module. It usually takes about 30 hours to plan for and verify the need for an avoidance maneuver.
Debris avoidance maneuvers are conducted when the probability of collision is greater than 1 in 100,000, if the maneuver will not result in significant impact to mission objectives. If it is greater than 1 in 10,000, a maneuver will be conducted unless it results in additional risk to the crew.
If there's not enough time to conduct an avoidance maneuver, the space station's astronauts may be alerted to take shelter in their Soyuz vehicles. The last time that happened was on March 24, but the threatening object passed by without incident.

Space station at risk of debris hit
Posted: at 4:14 am
The International Space Station is in danger of being hit by two pieces of debris from an old Russian satellite that had previously hit a US craft in 2009, a news report says.
The space station will encounter pieces of the Kosmos 2251 military spy orbiter in the next few days, the Interfax news agency quoted a source at Russian Mission Control as saying.
"Two fragments of the Kosmos 2251 craft may pose a danger to the station," the unnamed source was quoted as saying.
The source added that the station may now have to manoeuvre out of the path of the approaching debris in a special operation tentatively planned for Thursday.
The Kosmos 2251 satellite was launched by Russia in 1993 and decommissioned just two years later.
The satellite crashed into a US Iridium-33 satellite in February 2009 in the first such space accident of its kind. The collision created hundreds of smaller fragments that pose a danger to both the station and other satellites.

Male DNA found for first time in female brains
Posted: at 4:14 am
Male DNA has for the first time been found inside the female brain, according to new research led by a Canadian scientist.
No, the finding doesn't explain why women sometimes know what their husbands are thinking.
But it could lead to refining what "the self," biologically speaking at least, really means.
Plus, in an unexpected finding, the researchers found that women with Alzheimer's disease had less male DNA in their brains -- and in lower concentrations in the brain region's most affected by the memory-robbing disease -- than women without Alzheimer's.
Observers said the finding also raises the hypothesis that, if male DNA can infiltrate a woman's brain, it might have some "masculinizing" affect on the female brain.
And, if that's so, "what consequences does this have on how the brain functions -- in other words, thinking and behaviour?" said neuroscientist Dr. Sandra Witelson, a professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral neurosciences at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton.
Appearing in the latest edition of the journal, PLOS ONE, the study is the first to describe the presence of male "microchimerism" in women's brains.
Microchimerism is the "intermingling" of small numbers of cells or portions of DNA in a person or animal from a genetically different inpidual.
In this case, the male DNA found in women's brains most likely came from cells from a pregnancy with a baby boy.
But women can acquire male DNA without ever having a son. In women without boys, male DNA can come from sharing her mother's womb with a male twin, from a non-irradiated blood transfusion and possibly even from an older sibling.

The Sensitive Skin Diaries: Acne, Rosacea & Eczema Explained

The Sensitive Skin Diaries: Acne, Rosacea & Eczema Explained
When it comes to sensitive skin disorders, there is three main culprits acne, rosacea and eczema (also known as dermatitis). As any sensitive skin sufferer would know, using new products or products not specifically designed for sensitive skin can result in a costly trip to the dermatologist or worse, a very severe reaction, so it's important to understand the basics about our skin, as well as what causes each skin disorder. Knowledge is power when it comes to finding some relief, so keep reading.
Acne
According to the Australasian College of Dermatologists, acne affects 85 percent of Australians at some time during their life now that's a lot of zits! Put simply, acne is caused by a blockage to the opening of the oil glands in the skin. The oil glands are called sebaceous glands, and they produce an oily sheen called sebum (stay with us), which is responsible for keeping skin healthy. Yes, oil is good! Blockages in the sebaceous glands are common in teens, but also in adults if their hormones are seeking some balance. In short: there is no known cure for acne but it is treatable both orally with antibiotics and topically with creams, lotions and gel including benzoyl peroxide and salicyclic acid.
Rosacea
Rosacea is a very common skin disorder that causes red patches, pimple-like bumps and burst capillaries on the face (think of it as a permanent flushed face). Charming, no? The condition is especially common in fair-skinned people aged in their 30s and 40s. While there is no known cause of rosacea, things like hot drinks, alcohol and spicy foods are known to aggravate it. The condition can be controlled with antibiotics, but the Australasian College of Dermatologists recommends sufferers stay away from the aggressors above, but also saunas, sitting next to open fires, harsh winds and hot baths.
Eczema
Eczema is also known as dermatitis, and is a term used to describe inflammation of the skin. Sufferers fall into two categories acute or chronic. Acute eczema consists of itchy, red, oozing patches of skin, and sometimes blisters; while chronic eczema has longer-lasting affected areas that can be thick, dry and prominently marked. This is the result of constant itching and rubbing in an effort to get some relief. There is at least six types of eczema including Varicose (on the legs) and Seborrhoeic (common on the face and scalp), and the key to treatment and management is getting a thorough diagnosis from a dermatologist.
