‘Aggressive’ kids thrown out of cinema for ‘vaping, and swearing’ – Liverpool Echo

Posted: January 3, 2022 at 2:49 am

A woman has complained after her visit to the cinema was ruined by a group of aggressive children who had "no thought for anyone else".

The woman visited The Light Cinema in New Brighton yesterday afternoon and was disappointed after the group of five, which consisted of three boys and two girls, sat in front of her and were disruptive from the get-go.

Before the film even began, the Wirral woman said three different adults had to have words with the kids, which was met with a reaction she said 'people would expect from such a group'.

During the showing of the PG rated, Clifford the Big Red Dog, the woman said the children, who she presumed were about ten or possibly a little older but not much, acted disruptively in ways such as vaping [...], swearing, talking at full volume, messing about, up and down and stamping down the corridor with no thought for anyone else.

Eventually, this went too far and the woman complained to a member of staff about the group who were soon removed from the screen.

The three boys of the group returned shortly after to "look for something" when a member of the audience intervened and saw to it the boys left after already causing so much trouble for other cinemagoers.

The man, who people have described as brave, attempted to usher the group out but they continued to act in a way the woman described as duly indignant.

Left disappointed by her experience, the woman took to a community Facebook page to inform others about the behaviour of the five kids.

She wrote: At the The Light cinema this afternoon to watch Clifford The Big Red Dog. Charming film if interested.

"The three boys and two girls sat in front of us were less so I am sorry to say.

"Three different adults had to have words with them before the film started. You can imagine the reaction.

"During the film, vaping.....although the four did tell the one to stop it, swearing, talking at full volume, messing about, up and down, stamping down the corridor, with no thought for anyone else..

"I eventually complained to the staff. They were asked to leave, tried to resist but the staff were fabulous and insisted.

"They left, noisily, then the boys came back looking for something. A chap in the audience removed them - brave or reckless I don't know.

"From what I saw, he did not put his hands on anyone, he simply got in their way and kept moving them along. They were duly indignant.

"My point is that these children, and they were children were about ten, possibly a little older but not much, they were there watching a kids film - totally too old for the film.

"The level of aggression against an adult from these children was shocking.

"So if your child came home unexpectedly early from the pics this afternoon, you might want to have a word.

In the comment section, another women who was present for yesterdays scene replied and said she and her daughter knew what was in store as soon as the group entered the screen.

She said: I was there with my 11-year-old daughter.

Unfortunately I was sitting in the same row as them, I was at the end and they passed me several times on their way in and out!

Their language was disgusting. On their way back in, I stood up and had a very polite and quiet word with them.

I explained that the cinema was full of children and that they should behave accordingly.

The woman seconded that staff were brilliant in handling the situation and said she overheard one of the boys say thats twice weve been thrown out of here this week as they left.

She added: As soon as they walked in and sat on the same row, my daughter looked at me and said oh no, theyre going to spoil it. I assured her that I wouldnt let them spoil it for her!

Others filled the comment section with their shock and "disgust", with one person even saying this is the reason they wont go to the New Brighton cinema anymore.

One person said: Some teens/kids need pulling into line, if mine came home told me all that, I would say they obviously deserved to get out cinema - and next time have respect or you will never go again, simples.

Another said: Why can't these ferals be barred from the cinema?

A third said: There's far too many groups of youngsters going out in groups of three and four plus unsupervised, and they show off massively.

"The parents are to blame here, they either don't care what they are doing or just assume they are well behaved. Under 12s shouldn't be having so much freedom, in my opinion far too immature to behave appropriately.

Jamie Atherton, operations manager for The Light Cinemas told the ECHO: We pride ourselves on trying to ensure everyone has a great trip the cinema when they visit one of our venues.

"I can confirm our team at New Brighton did remove several children from one of our showings yesterday due to bad behaviour.

"Incidents of this nature at New Brighton are uncommon, that said our teams are trained in conflict management to help them manage these difficult situations. Having spoken with the management at site I am satisfied this was dealt with promptly and professionally."

Why this holiday season might be the best time ever to quit vaping – Mashable

Posted: December 23, 2021 at 10:20 pm

Ho ho hmmm Ever feel like the vaping that used to chill you out is ultimately giving your mental health a deep freeze? Between finding the perfect gift for your high school friend swap, dealing with your extended family on Christmas, and anxiety about yet another COVID New Years Eve, youve got enough stress in your stocking. Vaping might feel like a quick fix, but in the long run, youre better off crossing that one off the list.

Maybe quitting vaping is your New Years resolution, maybe youve tried quitting and want to try again, or maybe youve never thought about quitting at all. Wherever you are in the process, its all good: Were here to share some inside info about how quitting nicotine might actually help improve your mental health. Thats right, your mental health.

You arent the only one who has ever felt like vaping was a good way to relax. A survey by the nonprofit public health organization Truth Initiative shows that most e-cigarette users started vaping in order to deal with stress, anxiety, and depression. The irony here is that while you might be vaping for some relief from those symptoms, vaping nicotine might actually be making your symptoms of anxiety and depression worse.

Quitting nicotine reverses that increasing trend and can make you less stressed overall. While nicotine may at first feel like a coping mechanism for stress, over time, using nicotine can increase stress and irritability. An analysis published in the British Medical Journal shows that quitting cigarette smoking a.k.a. quitting nicotine can lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. In addition, a Truth Initiative survey shows that 90 percent of vapers who had quit said that they also felt less stressed, anxious, and depressed. On the flip side, 93 percent reported that vaping negatively affected their mental health.

Here is one example of a young person who quit e-cigarettes sharing how vaping nicotine impacted their mental health. "Quitting vaping has been one of the hardest things I have done, says recent quitter Mady, but it was so worth it in the end...I noticed my mental health slowly improving after the second week and by the end of the first month my anxiety symptoms almost completely went away."

Like Mady, over half of all young people who vape nicotine are interested in quitting and maybe you are too, since youre reading this. Add in the fact that quitting vaping is likely at the top of many peoples New Years resolution list, and its pretty safe to say that a lot of people are thinking about quitting right about now so youre not alone!

If youre in that boat, check out This Is Quitting, a free and anonymous text-messaging quit vaping program from truth. In addition to sharing proven tips and strategies to help you quit for good, youll also get texts incorporating messages from others like you who have gone through the quitting process and know what its like. You can also text in keywords like STRESS or COPE for instant, on-demand support for stress or when a craving hits.

To get started, just text DITCHVAPE to 88709. If youre ready to quit, youll start receiving texts to help you with that. If youre not ready to quit just yet, thats okay, too. Text to join now and youll start getting messages to help you gear up for whenever youre ready.

If you thought the holidays were a bad time to quit vaping nicotine, they might actually be one the best times ever to quit. Regardless, remember that This is Quitting from truth is there for you now, for New Years and beyond.

Wesleyan University to Become Tobacco and Vape Free Campus January 1, 2022 – Wesleyan Connection

Posted: at 10:20 pm

September Johnson, Wesleyans alcohol and other drug specialist, acknowledges that Wesleyan Universitys upcoming move to becoming a tobacco and vape free campus will be a big change for the community.

However, when the policy goes into effect on January 1, 2022, Johnson said that there will be plenty of support measures in place to help.

We, as a community, are here to support each other through this change, Johnson said in a campus all-staff meeting on November 29 where the policy change was announced.

No tobacco products will be allowed anywhere on campus. Tobacco use continues to be a leading cause of preventable illness and death in the United States. Hazards of second-hand tobacco smoke are well known. Tobacco is the only product that, when used as intended, leads to serious illness and premature death. There is no safe form of tobacco or nicotine with the exception of nicotine replacement therapy, Johnson said in an e-mail.

According to information provided by WesWell, almost 5,000 people a year in Connecticut die from smoking. Over 25 percent of the cancers found in the state are related to tobacco use. Each household pays about $850 a year in state and federal taxes towards smoking related government costs.

Tobacco related deaths are the most common ones we face, including lung cancer, emphysema, and cardiovascular deaths.Tobacco can also cause other diseases, including oral and throat cancers, chronic lung conditions, and it can worsen asthma, said Dr. Thomas McLarney, Wesleyans Health Director.

Johnson said the idea of going tobacco-free has been in discussion for some time. Johnson and her colleagues reached out to campus partners to collaborate on how the policy would be crafted. A grant from the Department of Public Health helped create educational and prevention materials.

However, the rise of COVID-19 hastened Wesleyans decision. Smoking and vaping increase an individuals risk of contracting COVID and of experiencing worse outcomes, as the second-hand smoke from these products can weaken immune systems, Johnson said.

The overall cultural trend supports Johnsons initiative. She said that while cigarette smoking has decreased among college students over the past couple of decades, rates of vaping among this age group have increaseda habit that studies show could encourage smoking.

To encourage and support individuals who use tobacco and vape products in their efforts to quit, comprehensive cessation resources for faculty, students, and staff are available. For faculty and staff, this includes Wellness Points, quit kits, Nicotine Replacement Therapy on an as needed basis, individualized information and resources and more. Students have the similar resources as well, Johnson said.

Nicotine is an extremely addictive substance. But with support and medications, including nicotine replacement, overcoming the addiction can be done, McLarney said.

The policy is not intended to be punitive, Johnson said. Her goal is to help foster a community of care around the university.

A policy such as this will help protect and promote the health of our community, now and for years to come. Policies such as this also protect and promote the health and well-being of those who choose not to use tobacco and nicotine products and those that do, while reducing health disparities. The supportive and educational approach Wesleyan is taking to this policy will help bolster our community of care and set us up for a healthier living, learning, and working environment, she said.

L.A. Considers a Ban on Flavoured Tobacco Products – Vaping Post

Posted: at 10:20 pm

Teenagers in high schools were more likely to take up smoking than teenagers in US school districts where no flavour bans were imposed.

When the issue was discussed at City Hall for the first time, council members had suggested restricting the sales of some flavoured products on site at specialized lounges. Meanwhile hookah sellers say the plan is still too restrictive for a number of reasons, amongst which forbidding people to buy hookah tobacco to smoke at home, when this is a central part of certain cultures.

Subsequently, last September, City Attorney Mike Feuer renewed his call for the City Council to implement a comprehensive flavour ban, which includes vaping products. Feuers Office put forward a new proposed bill, which however contains an exemption on flavoured Hookah as per the City Council majority request, yet the City Attorney is trying to have this exemption removed.

Similarly, in August 2020, SB 793 by Senator Jerry Hill, banned the sale of flavoured tobacco products, in San Francisco. In line with expert predictions before the ban had even gone into effect, data is showing that the measure has just led to teens reverting from vaping to smoking.

Besides facing significant opposition from the tobacco industry and retailers leading up to the final days of the 2019-20 Legislative Session, SFs flavour ban had also been met with concern by public health experts who predicted that it would drive teens back to smoking regular cigarettes.

Similarly, the citys chief economist, Ted Egan, whose office is charged with analyzing the economic impact of legislations in San Francisco, had confirmed that the ban would only lead to increased smoking rates. And sadly, data keep confirming this.

A recent study published in JAMA Pediatrics, found that following San Franciscos flavour ban, teenagers in the citys high schools were more likely to take up smoking than teenagers in US school districts where no flavour bans were imposed. While prior to the ban, smoking rates in San Francisco were similar to that of many cities across the country.

Ex-WHO Director Slams Its Tobacco Harm Reduction Denial – Filter

Posted: December 22, 2021 at 1:00 am

The World Health Organizations reputation took another big hit at a conference in London earlier this month that discussed global vaping policy. The E-cigarette Summit featured a keynote address by Professor Robert Beaglehole. As well as being emeritus professor of public health at the University of Auckland, he was formerly director of the Department of Chronic Diseases and Health Promotion at the WHO.

Deeply critical of the WHOs opposition to tobacco harm reduction, his speech was all the more pointed considering his WHO past.

He argued that saving millions of smokers lives through a smoke-free world depends on the availability of safer alternatives to smoking, such as vapesnot on aiming for a nicotine-free world, as the WHO would like.

In his keynote, Beaglehole took aim at the WHOs Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) treaty, highlighting that its failure to achieve success is because of its unrealistic drive for nicotine abstinence and a stubborn resistance to embracing less harmful products. He also criticized the FCTCs obsession with youth vaping, which has been to the detriment of making alternatives available for adults who smoke.

Beaglehole recommended an independent inquiry into the WHOs leadership.

Accusing the WHO of having lost its way, Beaglehole condemned the secrecy of its biennial FCTC Conference of the Parties (COP) meetings. He also castigated the WHO for its reliance on funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies, which he sees as driving the WHO in the wrong direction due to Michael Bloombergs personal prohibitionist ideology towards vaping and nicotine use. Bloombergs donationsthought to total around $1 billion to-datehave accompanied the WHOs adherence to an initiative called MPOWER, which entirely excludes tobacco harm reduction as an option.

Beaglehole noted that wherever MPOWER has been implemented, smoking rates have either risen or declined very slowly, whilst in countries which have embraced harm reduction, smoking prevalence has declined, often quite dramatically. He also criticized the WHOs policy of giving awards to countries (such as India) which ban safer nicotine products, despite such prohibition leading to smoking rates increasing.

The WHO, Beaglehole summarized, presides over 8 million smoking-related deaths per year, while failing to explore all options for reducing the toll.

He went on to make some stark recommendations for the WHO to find its way again. The agency must lead, not obstruct, harm reduction strategies, he said. (Its notable that the WHO promotes harm reduction in realms such as illicit drug use and HIV/AIDS.) Countries should be encouraged to adopt targets according to science-based recommendations, rather than ideology, Beaglehole said. He added that success would arrive faster if tobacco companies were not obstructed in transitioning from the most harmful products to less harmful ones.

To do this, Beaglehole recommended both an independent inquiry into the WHOs leadership, and action from countries that support tobacco harm reduction in different ways to reform the WHO and FCTC. Active promotion, not suppression, of reduced-risk products is required. Beagleholde suggested that such parties should take advantage of the WHOs scheduled director-general election in May 2022 to question the incumbent, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, about his organizations approach.

What if you are wrong? If you are wrong, the cost will be huge and will be measured in millions of preventable deaths.

Finally, Professor Beaglehole posed a question for those in the WHO and elsewhere who deny the benefits of tobacco harm reduction.

What if you are wrong? he asked. If you are wrong, the cost will be huge and will be measured in millions of preventable deaths. This seems to me a totally unnecessary and unacceptable risk to take, and I would ask you to consider the possibility that you are wrong.

Such criticism from a former director should be deeply embarrassing to the WHO. The agencys head-in-the-sand attitude to tobacco harm reduction is all the more baffling considering it is one of the three pillars that its FCTC treaty was built upon, together with restricting supply and demand. Its just that the FCTC has ignored and actively opposed the harm reduction part in practice. This is damaging public health in more than 180 countries that are signatories to the FCTC, and whose taxpayers fund the activities of its Secretariat, as Beaglehole pointed out.

The WHO surely cannot continue to tread a nicotine-prohibitionist path forever while people die unnecessarily and the scientific evidence in favor of tobacco harm reduction continues to grow. Professor Beagleholes speech is a significant dent in the WHOs authority and his recommendation for fundamental reform should be taken seriously.

Disposable Vape Pen Explained: What Structure Does It Consist Of? – Programming Insider

There are so many new products entering the vaping market on a seemingly daily basis that it can be difficult to keep up! One of the most popular product lines is that of disposable vape pens. We want to give you an idea of what a disposable vape pen is all about, how they work, and whether this is the type for you. Lets get started right away.

What is Disposable Vape Pen?

A disposable vape pen is just that one that comes to you pre-filled with e-liquid and is thrown away when it is empty. They come in many different shapes and sizes originally, they were shaped like a pen, and the name has stuck and have varied lifetimes. If you want to try high-quality disposable vape pen, check Hyde Rebel, which can be recharged with 4500 puffs which is one of the most impressive we have seen. So, what makes up a disposable vape pen? Let us talk you through the components and how they act together.

What are the Components of a Disposable Vape Pen?

A vape pen is a compact item that is used for vaping e-liquids, CBD products and cannabis. They are offered in many forms, and we are interested here in the disposable version. Here are the main components:

Thats basically it. You press the button, wait for the indicator light, and then take a draw. You are inhaling purely vapor, infused with your choice of e-liquid. It could not be easier. So, is a disposable pen for you, or should you buy a refillable model?

Should I Buy a Rechargeable Vape Pen?

Among the many vape accessories on the market are rechargeable and refillable vape pens. Whats the difference? The major difference is that you can remove the cartridge once it is empty, give it a quick clean, and then refill it. The battery can be charged via a USB or mini-USB connection.

Also, while disposable pens are generally available only with e-liquids, you will need a rechargeable version if you want to vape cannabis, CBD products or others including THC. Some of these models also come with variable voltage which allows the user to alter the temperature at which the substance vaporizes. This can change the strength and harshness of the hit quite considerably. Which is for you? Lets make that our closing few words.

Conclusion

Should you buy a disposable or a refillable vape pen? If you want to vape CBD and cannabis, you should be looking at the slightly more sophisticated refillable pen. If, however, you just want to enjoy vaping your favorite flavor e-liquid when you are out and about, there is no more discreet or simple method than using a disposable pen such as the one we mentioned earlier.

NEW SURVEY SHOWS PROGRESS ON CURBING TEEN VAPING, BUT E-CIGARETTE USE REMAINS HIGH AS ACCESS TO FLAVORS, RISK OF NICOTINE ADDICTION, AND IMPACT ON…

Posted: December 17, 2021 at 11:36 am

WASHINGTON, Dec. 15, 2021 /PRNewswire/ --The 2021 Monitoring the Future (MTF) survey data released today show progress in the fight to curb youth nicotine vaping, signaling efforts to provide education to prevent e-cigarette use and quitting resources are starting to work. However, more is needed to accelerate progress to end the ongoing youth e-cigarette epidemic amid growing concerns over continued, easy access to flavored products, risk of nicotine addiction, and the impact on youth mental health. While there have been declines across the board among surveyed students in all three grades, according to the 2021 MTF data 19.6% of 12th graders, 13.1% of 10th graders and 7.6% of 8th graders used e-cigarettes in the last 30 days (considered current use).

When it comes to youth use, today's Monitoring the Future results follow those of the September 2021 National Youth Tobacco Survey (NYTS), which showed that more than 2 in 5 high school students who vape, do so frequently. Together, these findings suggest that far too many young people are highly dependent and continue to be at risk for a lifetime of nicotine addiction. This is especially troubling given the U.S. Surgeon General's recent advisory about our nation's youth mental health crisis exacerbated by the pandemic and the fact that nicotine can worsen symptoms of anxiety and depression. Today's MTF findings also show significant increases in mental health issues among teens across all measures. Furthermore, a recent Truth Initiative survey shows 81% of respondents who had ever vaped reported they started vaping nicotine to decrease anxiety, depression, or stress. Yet, the very thing that young people are turning to relieve stress can actually make it worse.

These MTF numbers underscore the urgent need for stronger regulatory action on high nicotine, youth-appealing flavored tobacco products, including menthol. As the pandemic has shown, less access equals less use among teens, yet the FDA has failed to complete premarket review of the top e-cigarette brands - JUUL, Puff Bar and Vuse Alto - that make up 75% of the market and are most popular among youth, despite the September 2021 deadline to do so. Stronger federal policies must be put in place immediately to restrict youth access and remove flavored tobacco products. The policies must be clear, comprehensive, and consistently enforced with no loopholes. Delayed rulings and ad hoc policy responses to date, like warning letters to vaping companies or partial flavor bans, have resulted in product substitution, failures to comply, and new illegal products continuing to enter the market. The number one brand used by youth, Puff Bar, not only comes in a wide variety of flavors, but has also recently indicated that it will now be manufactured with synthetic nicotine in a brazen attempt to thwart FDA oversight. Without effective federal regulation, local and state policies must continue to play a crucial role in curbing flavored tobacco sales and use among youth given inconsistent national regulations.

While the FDA continues to delay progress, Truth Initiative and our public health partners continue to increase efforts to end youth nicotine vaping with encouraging results. Truth Initiative's proven-effective nationaltruthcampaign is focused on giving young people the facts on the risks of e-cigarette use and the connection between vaping nicotine and its impact on mental health. Our research shows that strong truth brand awareness is significantly associated with a lower likelihood of current vaping. This is Quitting from truth, afirst-of-its-kind, free text message quit vaping program designed specifically for teens and young adults already has nearly 400,000 young people enrolled to date. A recent randomized clinical trial published in JAMA Internal Medicine shows This Is Quitting increased e-cigarette quit vaping rates among young adults by nearly 40% compared to a control group.truthalso offers a free, comprehensive digital high school curriculum,Vaping: Know the truth, that gives students the facts about the health dangers of e-cigarettes and helps those already vaping to quit with a direct link to This is Quitting built into the course.

About Truth Initiative Truth Initiative is a national public health organization that is inspiring lives free from smoking, vaping and nicotine and building a culture where all young people reject tobacco. In 2020, we celebrated 20 years of saving lives and preventing millions of youth from smoking. Our impact has helped drive the teen smoking rate down from 23% in 2000 to 4.2% in 2020. The truth about tobacco and the tobacco industry are at the heart of our proven-effective and nationally recognized truth public education campaign. truth has also recently taken on the youth epidemics of vaping and opioids. Our rigorous scientific research and policy studies, community and youth engagement programs supporting populations at high risk of using tobacco and innovation in tobacco dependence treatment, are also helping to end one of the most critical public health battles of our time. Based in Washington D.C., our organization, formerly known as the American Legacy Foundation, was established and funded through the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement between attorneys general from 46 states, five U.S. territories and the tobacco industry. Lawsuit filed against vaping industry | State & Region | register-herald.com – Beckley Register-Herald

Posted: at 11:36 am

PRINCETON A Mercer County lawsuit that seeks to stop the vaping industry from marketing its products to teenagers is now in the courts.

The lawsuit has officially been filed as of Monday, county commissioner Greg Puckett said Wednesday. Mercer County was the first in the state.

The county commission voted earlier this year to join the JUUL Lawsuit and is being represented in the case by Attorney Rusty Webb of the Webb Law Center.

In the lawsuit, it is argued that manufacturers of e-cigarettes JUUL being the leading manufacturer have been marketing vaping to teenagers as safer and less addictive than cigarettes, Webb said in an earlier report.

In addition to Mercer County, Puckett said Greenbrier, Raleigh, Gilmer and Mineral counties have all signed on to the lawsuit.

Within the coming weeks, it is expected that Pocahontas, Braxton, Calhoun and Putnam will sign on as well, Puckett said.

Between 2017 and 2019, there was a 150 percent increase in the number of high school students using e-cigarettes, Webb said in the earlier report. Furthermore, as of 2019, 35.7 percent of the countrys high school students were using e-cigarettes.

Puckett said vaping is becoming an epidemic among the regions youth.

What this (lawsuit) does is it holds the firms accountable and shows the kids that it (vaping) is not a less harmful tool, Puckett said.

Part of the problem right now is that there are no regulations regarding vaping shops and vaping businesses, Puckett said.

It goes back to accountability and regulatory issues on building permits, Puckett said. They could (right now) put a business in the middle of the mountain.

The commission voted 2-1 in October to join the lawsuit. Puckett and commissioner Bill Archer backed the motion with Commission President Gene Buckner voting no.

Theres a part of the contract that says (Webb Law Center) gets 33 percent of the gross collection and if they spend any money as far as detectives or anybody else who does outside work, they get paid $35 an hour, Buckner said during the earlier meeting. Its coming out of the gross income, which is what the county would get out of it.

Instead, the law firm should get 33 percent off the top and leave the rest of it alone, Buckner argued during that earlier meeting.

How to sell vape products legally in the UK – Convenience Store

Posted: at 11:36 am

With the number of people vaping reaching an all-time high in the UK and a glut of new products coming onto the market, there has been confusion amongst retailers surrounding what they can and cant sell in the category.

In an effort to clear up the confusion, trade body United Kingdom Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA) has published a guide to compliant retailing of disposable vape products in the UK.

Here we provide you with a summary of that guide focusing on the biggest threat to the vape industry: high nicotine, high-capacity devices.

According to Eco Vape Ltd managing director Robert Sidebottom: As a rule of thumb if you are offered a disposable device that has a puff capacity that is greater than 600 and or has more than 20mg/ml of nicotine it is without any doubt illegal to sell in the UK.

One example of this is the Geek Bar Pro, a 1600 puff device that contains 50mg of nicotine.

Any nicotine containing device used for the purpose of vaping must conform to the regulations. As a retailer look out for the following.

No, just because a vape product has an ECID number does not make it legal. The ECID is a reference number that is attributed by the manufacturer, the number has no significance until the product is listed by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Companies caught selling products that are non-compliant can face prosecution, risk having their stock seized and receive fines of up to 5,000 per instance.

The MHRA is the competent authority for a notification scheme for e-cigarettes and refill containers in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The MHRA maintain the lists of products that have been notified and publishes these after assessing the submission from the manufacturer.

Anyone can check the MHRA list as it is public https://cms.mhra.gov.uk/ecig checking recent submissions is relatively simple just type in the brand name or if known the ECID. There are however two legacy lists that you will also need to check https://cms.mhra.gov.uk/ecig-old-submission.

If the product is not listed it is not legal for sale, regardless if it has an ECID or complies with puff and nicotine rules above.

No, the MHRA issued guidance in July to clarify this.

Supply of New Products from 1 January 2021:To supply new E-cigarette products in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland you must notify your products via the appropriate notification system for each region. To supply a product to Great Britain you are required to notify using the MHRA submission portal. To supply a product to Northern Ireland you will continue to use EU-CEG.

Once you have successfully submitted your notifications, they will be reviewed for compliance by the MHRA. Once your product notification has been published you will be able to legally supply the goods in the region for which they have been notified.

Sidebottom warned that the time spent checking products is worth the effort. I am aware that this seems like a laborious process to check if your products are legal. This is simplified by asking your supplier for evidence that the products they are selling you are listed. Ask for the ECID, the MHRA invoice and proof of payment, then look them up.

What Is Throat Hit in Vaping, and Why Is It Important? – Salon Priv Magazine

When you read about vaping online, throat hit is a term that youre going to see regularly. Thats because throat hit is something thats core to the vaping experience and has a strong influence over how satisfying you perceive an e-cigarette to be especially when youre new to vaping and are still in the process of transitioning to a completely tobacco-free lifestyle.

Because throat hit is so important to the quality of your vaping experience, its something that youll want to fully understand before you go to a vape shop like V2 Cigs UK and start stocking up on vaping hardware and e-liquid. You might be the type of vaper who wants a more assertive throat hit or perhaps you prefer things a bit on the smoother side. Your preferences will influence the type of vape gear that you should buy, and in this article, were going to explain the details. Here is everything you ever wanted to know about throat hit.

Throat hit is the sensation that you feel in your throat and in the back of your mouth when you inhale nicotine. Its actually a form of irritation caused by the nicotine and the smoke, and its one of the reasons why you probably coughed when you smoked a cigarette for the first time. Its also one of the reasons why some of the worlds governments are trying to ban or have already banned menthol cigarettes. Menthol numbs the throat, thus making it easier for new smokers to initiate nicotine use. Without menthol, some people might try cigarettes for the first time, cough violently and never smoke again.

The fact that youre reading this article, though, means you made it through the initial coughing and continued to smoke. Along the way, throat hit changed from an irritation to something that you actually enjoyed and anticipated. Youve probably especially grown to love that sensation in your throat when you light up after going without a cigarette for several hours.

When people talk about throat hit in vaping, theyre talking about replicating the sensation that they feel when smoking. Some people find it difficult to derive any real sense of satisfaction from vaping if they dont feel an assertive throat hit, and thats why choosing the right e-liquid and vaping equipment for your needs is so important. While two different e-liquids may deliver the same amount of nicotine to your body, using those e-liquids could feel entirely different from the standpoint of throat hit.

So, why is it that two e-liquids with the same nicotine strength can be so different in terms of throat hit? Mostly, it depends on the flavouring compounds and additives used in those e-liquids. As you choose the e-liquid flavours that you want to try, these are the things you should keep in mind if throat hit is a priority for you.

When youre comparing two e-liquids that have the same nicotine strength, the flavour profiles of those e-liquids will be the biggest influence on throat hit. Flavour, however, isnt the only factor contributing to a strong or weak throat hit. Here are some of the other things you should consider as you determine your ideal vaping setup.

If youre a newer vaper, you may have read this article and wondered why anyone would ever use the direct-to-lung inhaling style and e-liquids with nicotine strengths as low as 3 mg/ml if doing so would mean eliminating almost all throat hit from the equation. The answer is that, as you gain vaping experience, you may eventually decide that throat hit simply isnt very important to you anymore.

Once you reach the point at which youre vaping simply for the pleasure of it rather than to keep your cigarette cravings at bay, you may want to begin vaping in a way that emphasizes flavour rather than throat hit. Thats exactly what you get when you switch to a lower-nicotine e-liquid and begin using a vaping device designed for direct-to-lung inhaling.
