Socialist Hurls Racist Hate Speech, Assaults Ron Paul Supporter
Viewer Discretion advised! Welcome to the civility and tolerance of the far left! This self avowed socialist attempted to crash our Ron Paul event on October 10th, 2011. There were about about 10 of us holding Ron Paul signs in Pioneer Square, in Portland, Oregon, when this guy shows up and starts spouting off his racist talking points, along with general insults. Perhaps he was just trying to incite myself and my friends to react violently to him or shout slurs at him, and after realizing his attempts were futile and would only be met with peace and trying to understand him, he #39;s the one who resorts to violence by attacking me and attempting to steal the camera. My camera was never concealed, and the star of the video knew full well he was being filmed, and even grants consent. Twice (as highlighted in the video). Even though consent is not needed to film someone appearing in a public park. There were several moments where he started to walk away, then I would turn the camera off, only to see him turn around again and come back toward us. These were his opportunities to leave the scene and not be filmed if he didn #39;t want to. His brother, Mario Haro, is a regular at Occupy Portland events, and can be seen in the following videos threatening people, talking about the "white male power structure", and harassing the police: http://www.youtube.com , http://www.youtube.com , http://www.youtube.com . PORTLAND -- After Maine's Ron Paul delegation was denied seats at the Republican National Convention in August, supporters of the libertarian-leaning Texas congressman's presidential campaign had no other choice but to go home.

"I think the federal government, they're not fixable," said Pete Harring of Auburn, founder of the Maine tea party movement and a Paul delegate at the convention. "We need to take care of our own backyards."

Though members of the "liberty movement," haven't been out front for higher-profile federal candidates here, there's been a focused effort to boost candidates in legislative and local races, combining elements of the leftover Paul network here with new supporters.

While many in the movement praise some of those unique candidates and the movement's energy, some wonder whether that energy can be harnessed for future political success.
