DNA Worldwide Rapid Victim DNA Testing Identifies Family Member Killed by Gadafi Militia in Libya

Dr Jamals nephew, Ahmed had been arrested with two of his friends on the 6th September 2011 by Gaddafi militia in Sirte and had not been heard from since. It was too dangerous even to ask the militia about him, as there was armed group designed to kill anyone who suspicious not loyal to Gaddafi. Despite numerous attempts to locate Ahmed, his family had not made any progress.

Few days after the Sirte liberation from Gaddafi militia and on the 2nd of November a group of six dead bodies were found dumped in a remote area of the Libyan desert called Wadi Alzeid, about 40km south of Sirte city. Each body was tied hands, tied legs and covered eyes, they been tortured and then been killed by a close gun shoot to the head. Whilst some of the bodies could be identified, due to the condition and brutality of the situation the one suspected to be Ahmed could not.

Ahmeds father spoke to leading doctors and pathologists in Libya to find the best way for positive identification. Each path he tried came to a dead end with a lack of equipment, skilled forensic analysis or corruption putting up barriers.

On the recommendation of a family doctor a sample of DNA was carefully collected from the body and securely brought to the UK. Dr Jamal immediately met with Health Staff of the Libyan Embassy Health Office in London to find an appropriate specialist they trusted.

The dedicated forensic team worked with focus and a few days later the results, providing positive proof of identification where released to the family of Ahmed and the Health Department of the Libyan embassy.

Dr Jamal advises, Whilst the news is difficult for our family to face, we can now start to plan for the future. I can see many families like us needing this service.

A brand-new HTC smartphone is making its way to Verizon and, at this point, the company might as well announce the details of the entire thing given how much it's spoiled about the Droid DNA thus far.

Verizon's official "Droid Does" webpage currently features a link under its "News & Offers" section that speaks directly about a "Droid DNA Unboxing" that's scheduled to occur within a Google+ Hangout on November 19. It's interesting that Verizon appears to otherwise be attempting to keep the rest of the device's details including its name hidden among its promotional text, save for the aforementioned headline that directly calls out the new smartphone by name.

An image that appears to be a leaked press shot of the Droid DNA is also making its way around the Web right now. First spotted and posted by the Twitter account @evleaks, the front-and-back shot of the Droid DNA shows off its expected appearance a black body with modest red accents that give it a look similar to that of HTC's J Butterfly smartphone, a device introduced in Japan in October.

In fact, reports PhoneDog's Alex Wagner, the Droid DNA is basically expected to be a Verizon-filled version of that exact device. The smartphone's current rumored spec sheet includes a 1920-by-1080, five-inch display; a 1.5-GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor; around two gigabytes of RAM, 16 gigabytes of internal storage, and a microSD card slot for expandable storage.

The Droid DNA will likely run Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), support 4G LTE connectivity (naturally) and, as illustrated in the leaked pictures, sport touch-sensitive buttons slapped directly on the front of the device instead of resorting to software-based buttons for navigating around Android.

However, the full details will all be revealed in Verizon's official launch event for the device different than the Nov. 19 unboxing previously mentioned, we note. Verizon and HTC are holding a joint press event on Tuesday, and it's wildly expected that the Droid DNA and its huge, 1080p screen with a full 440 pixels per inch will make an appearance there.

Verizon Teases HTC Droid DNA, More Handset Images Leak

Verizon momentarily uncovers Droid DNA as its newest Android superphone.

Over the weekend Verizon briefly called out the Droid DNA as its next Droid handset. The revelation was fleeting, though; the carrier promptly scrubbed all mention of DNA from its Web site.

Verizon is likely kicking itself, and likely the people responsible, for the slip-up since it came days ahead of the new phone's expected launch tomorrow in New York. I and many others anticipate the Droid DNA to be built by HTC and based on the rumored HTC DLX.

If you recall, the Droid DNA is said to feature a phablet-size 5-inch screen, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, all buttressed by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. The phone may even boast a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor.

Android Central first noticed Verizon's gaffe and also posted images of the gadget reportedly obtained by Twitterer @evleaks. If all this pans out, we're in store for a real smartphone treat tomorrow. Verizon also says it will publish an official unboxing of its freshest Droid on November 19, but you don't have to wait around that long.
