AscendTMS And uShip Partner to Support SMB Shippers with Seamless Neutral FTL / LTL Platform – DC Velocity

Posted: May 4, 2021 at 8:30 pm

TAMPA, Fla. and AUSTIN, Texas May 4, 2021 InMotion Global, Inc. and uShip, the leading logistics technology platform for large and bulky goods, today announced an agreement to provide real-time less-than-truckload (LTL) rates, booking, tracking, and billing services to customers of InMotion Globals AscendTMS logistics platform, the worlds most popular and top-rated Transportation Management System (TMS).

The agreement is significant for millions of small and medium-sized business shippers across the U.S., including nearly 40,000 shipping customers already using AscendTMS to manage their full truckload (FTL) operations and movements.

Integrating uShips LTL rates and services gives AscendTMS customers direct access to complete FTL and LTL capabilities in a single software platform. Neither AscendTMS nor uShip are brokers, so users of the combined platform can be assured of the absolute best direct rates and zero conflict of interest. The integration is expected to be available in Fall 2021.

While the industrys largest shippers, brokers, and carriers pay millions to combine deep FTL and LTL capabilities within a single TMS, AscendTMS customers now get the same combination in a completely neutral platform for a low monthly subscription fee.

Incorporating uShips automated LTL rates and freight services deep into the AscendTMS platform further levels the logistics playing field for millions of SMB shippers, brokers, 3PLs, and carriers who can now get combined enterprise-level FTL / LTL service on one single unified and neutral logistics platform, says Tim Higham, CEO of AscendTMS. uShips neutral marketplace approach mirrors the AscendTMS philosophy where digital freight technology drives speed and transparent pricing with absolutely no conflict of interest for our joint customers.

Our agreement with AscendTMS is the latest example of our LTL API that integrates our services into other platforms to support small and medium business shippers who are embracing digital freight technology at an incredible rate, says Kris Lamb, CEO of uShip. Combining FTL and LTL in the same neutral marketplace gives shippers the best of both worlds, saving them time, money, and energy.

uShips less-than-truckload platform, which gives small and medium businesses access to instant direct quotes from over 30 of the freight industrys top national and regional LTL carriers, saw a 43 percent year-over-year revenue growth in Q1 2021.

In November, uShip announced an agreement to provide its LTL rates and services to GovPlanet government surplus online auctions. GovPlanet is owned by Ritchie Bros., a leading asset management and disposition company.

Qualifying with race downforce at Texas will aid TMS novices – Motorsport.com

Posted: at 8:30 pm

Aside from five minutes of two-stage pit-speed limiter practice on Saturday and five minutes of install laps on Sunday, the 24-car field will be granted just one-hour of practice (75mins for rookies) before qualifying gets underway.

As was introduced on ovals last year, each drivers first lap of qualifying will set the grid for Saturdays race the 212-lap Genesys 300 and the second lap will set the grid for Sundays 248-lap XPel 375.

Between qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday, the cars will be impounded, meaning that all teams and drivers will be setting their times on the heavier race downforce.

This, according to Team Penske-Chevrolets Scott McLaughlin and Pietro Fittipaldi of Dale Coyne Racing with RWR-Honda, will simplify their task ahead of their first race on the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway.

Obviously we will be qualifying pretty much on race condition stuff and I think we start the race on our qualifying tires, said McLaughlin, who ran his first oval Rookie Orientation Program at TMS last February, and has since taken part in a preseason group test at the venue. It does take one less complication out of it for me to learn.

The three-time and reigning Supercars champion did concede it would have been useful to try trimming out for a more typical oval qualifying session, ahead of his Indy 500 debut, but believes the amount of practice time available at IMS next month will aid his cause.

For sure it would probably be nice to have an idea of what I want before I head to Indy in terms of qualifying trim, he said, but we've got the full month to build up to it.

The [Texas rules] does make it a lot more simple for someone like myself even I guess for Pietro who is coming in not a full-timer right now just to get used to the car.

Fittipaldi, who had three oval races among his six IndyCar starts in 2018, agreed with McLaughlin regarding consistent downforce levels making things a bit more simple.

He continued: You have one practice. If you were allowed to change the downforce levels and you don't have that much experience, to do qualifying downforce in practice, then change to race [downforce] I don't think you have enough time to get enough laps. You would be kind of going into qualifying or the race without much experience on the downforce

For me it's better that way, just to keep that variable out of it. I'll be able to learn more like this without going into really any unknowns.

However, neither driver is underestimating the task ahead of them.

To race single-seaters on an oval, it's very different, especially now with the aeroscreen, said Fittipaldi who raced Late Models on ovals. The car has a bit of a different balance than what I was used to from before. Following cars is always very difficult to get used to as well, gaining that experience not only in Texas but as well for Indianapolis.

You can run laps on your own good, run fast laps, you could be quick in qualifying, but you go out in the race, it's going to be hard to get that experience of following in traffic, trying to time passes and stuff.

That's going to be the main thing, trying to gain as much experience with that in Texas, then execute everything that's in my control and get the best result possible.

Regarding his preparation for the two TMS races, Fittipaldi who tested there along with temporary teammate Cody Ware said: You look at race footage and stuff from before, how the car handled in traffic, how people used to plan their runs on the car ahead.

Its very easy to kind of overdrive the entry of the corners, not get a run on a guy on exit of Turns 1 and 2, or 3 and 4. Sometimes you have to plan it a couple laps ahead. Sometimes the guys ahead are in heavy traffic, you start getting a run, and if you time it right, you can easily overtake.

McLaughlin, who unlike Fittipaldi had the chance to run with packs of cars in his recent Texas test, agreed that timing was one of several things he expects to come only with experience.

He said: It's my understanding of timing in the oval, understanding how hard do I drive into the corner, working out my exits so I get runs down into Turn 3 or into Turn 1, when do I make a passing move, how do I save fuel on an oval.

Race strategy is a big thing. Especially in IndyCar, the fuel saving is a huge thing. Trying to drive fast while saving more fuel certainly helps you in the long-term.

Yeah, a lot of things I have to focus on Thankfully I have thousands of hours of footage I can watch from previous years, including our testing, which will help.

MagVenture receives CE approvals for noninvasive brain treatment of addiction, OCD, and depression with anxiety symptoms – PRNewswire

Posted: at 8:30 pm

"These new CE approvals are based on the dedicated clinical TMS research studies conducted at multiple renowned research institutions," states Senior Scientist Claus Mathiesen, PhD, MagVenture A/S, further adding: "We believe the CE approvals have the potential of becoming a true game changer for the clinical application of TMS therapy."

TMS Therapy is an advanced, outpatient neuromodulation technology that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate the affected areas in the brain.

For addiction, a pilot study conducted by an Italian research team at Novella Fronda Foundationdemonstrated a 69% effect for the TMS group and 19% for the control group receiving the standard of care treatment. These initial findings were followed up by an observational study.

"Our study involved 284 individuals with cocaine addiction. After receiving TMS therapy, they were followed for two years and eight months and our results clearly showed that TMS therapy led to long-lasting reductions in cocaine use," explains Graziella Madeo, neurologist and coordinator of the research project and continues: "TMS can change the abnormal behavior by targeting the underlying brain-circuit dysfunction induced by substance use. Not only craving is reduced or absent, but our patients also experience changes in other aspects of their life, including a greater control in conditions potentially triggering a relapse in cocaine use."

For OCD, a 45% response rate was reported for the group receiving treatment, compared to 18% in the sham group. For depression, the world's largest randomized controlled study in TMS to date comprising 414 patients showed a response rate of 49% and a remission rate of 32% for those receiving theta burst magnetic stimulation. In addition, with this newly approved clinical benefit, TMS has also proven effective in treating the symptoms of anxiety in patients with depression with a response rate of 39% and remission rate of 23%, respectively.

"Expanding our therapeutic TMS indications is the core mission of MagVenture and we cannot wait to bring these new treatment options to the market with the potential to provide help for millions of people affected by these disorders," concludes Claus Mathiesen.

About MagVentureMagVenture is a Danish medical device company specializing in noninvasive magnetic stimulation systems for the treatment of mental disorders and addiction, as well as neuroscience research. MagVenture was the first TMS company to receive CE approval for TMS therapy for MDD in 2011 and this treatment is now offered at clinics around Europe and worldwide. MagVenture has subsidiaries in Germany, the UK, the USA, and Brazil, and is represented in more than 55 countries worldwide.

MagVenture TMS Therapy CE approvals "Treatment of psychoactive substance use disorder (PSUD) in adult patients.""As an adjunct for the treatment of adult patients suffering from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)."

"Treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adult patients who have failed to achieve satisfactory improvement from two prior antidepressant medications, at or above the minimal effective dose and duration in the current episode."

MagVenture TMS Therapy clinical benefitFor subjects responding to the treatment of MDD, who have symptoms of comorbid anxiety, the clinical benefit can additionally include an improvement of anxiety symptoms.

Texas Motor Speedway Vaccination Clinic Closes Friday Due to Severe Weather – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Posted: at 1:04 pm

Denton County Public Health has decided to close down the vaccination clinic located at the Texas Motor Speedway for Friday, April 23 due to the threat of severe weather throughout the day.

The forecast shows lightning and possible hail during the hours the clinic would typically be available.

"Our National Weather Service colleagues have been a critical planning partner for our clinic operations," Denton County Judge Andy Eads said. "After several meetings this week, tomorrow's forecast represents increasing risk at the TMS site. In outdoor operations, lightning and hail are particularly dangerous and have forced us to reschedule."

The latest news from around North Texas.

DCPH is currently working to finalize plans for rescheduled appointments and will send details once they are concrete.
