It doesnt happen often, but last nights was about as sweat-free a card as I can remember this season. I mean, we couldve taken the White Sox by a touchdown against the Athletics, because the run line was decided quickly. The first two batters of the game hit solo home runs! It truly couldnt have gone better.

Lets go right back to the well, shall we? I wont sugarcoat how terrible Giolito has pitched since the All-Star break, yet it is worth pointing out that the right-hander has looked far more comfortable pitching on the road in 2022. Across 69.0 innings in the split, Giolito has managed a respectable 3.91 ERA, while hes only surrendered 1.30 home runs per nine. Again, were dealing with a low bar at this point, but I think pitching at the extremely pitcher-friendly Coliseum can only help Giolito. If he can at least work into the sixth inning this evening, this prop should be very obtainable.

The reason for my optimism is pretty clear: The Athletics stink. The club has certainly hit for more power in the second-half of the season the return of Ramon Laureano doesnt hurt, either yet at the end of the day, this is a team with a .275 wOBA versus RHPs. Over the last two weeks specifically, Oakland owns MLBs highest swinging strike rate (13.4%) and the American Leagues highest strikeout rate (27.7%). I believe even Giolito can take advantage.

The only worry with a prop like this is intent. What exactly are the Reds wanting from the final month of this season? Are they putting their best foot forward to win every night? Or are they maybe in the business of being overprotective of a young arm? To me, I dont think we have to be too mindful of the latter when it comes to Lodolo. At least not yet. While Lodolos started 18 games across three levels in 2022, hes not even surpassed 90.0 innings of work so far this season. Hes also managed over 100 pitches in each of his past two outings the first time in his career hes done so in consecutive appearances. All signs point to their being no current limitations with the lefty.

Those two starts were really good, too. In fact, Lodolos sporting a 2.89 ERA and a 3.22 FIP in his last eight outings. In five of those contests, usually the ones where walks werent a massive issue, the rookie was able to record at least 17 outs. With the Brewers having struggled against left-handed pitching all season long they own the third-highest strikeout rate within the split and just a 87 wRC+ I like Lodolos chances of going deep once again. Six innings shouldnt be an issue.

Im not sure people realize just how good Striplings been this season for the Blue Jays. An early-season injury to Hyun-Jin Ryu forced the veteran into the teams rotation, where Stripling has posted a 2.91 ERA and a 2.93 FIP across 19 starts. Some of that success has been Toronto generally shielding Stripling from facing opposing hitters a third time through, yet its mostly been due to the development of a change-up. The veteran threw the pitch only 15.3% of the time in 2021. In 2022? Hes using it in 26.7% of counts and its garnered an insane 34.1% whiff rate.

The Jays are also no longer overly protective of Stripling. Hes worked at least six innings in each of his past four starts and five of his last seven overall with one of the outings he failed to do so coinciding with a glute issue that landed the RHP on the 15-day injured list. Toronto is starting a stretch of 11 games in 10 days on Friday. The team is likely going to be going with a bullpen game on Sunday, as it is. I think the Jays will be looking to get all the length they can from Stripling this evening, going up against a Texas lineup thats been far better when facing southpaws this season.

The Dodgers will be facing Mike Clevinger tonight, who has an ERA of 3.96. Our experts also are confident in a Dodgers win, so backing Betts to also produce more offense against the Padres looks to be worth a play on Friday night.

This prop will need the Central Florida Knights to score at least 40 points against the Louisville Cardinals and they will also need to win the game. UCF easily won their week 1 game, beating South Carolina State by a score of 56-10. They had a total of 600 yards of offense, led by quarterback, John Rhys Plumlee, who threw for 308 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Louisville on the other hand, were crushed by Syracuse in week 1, losing 31-7. Their defense was torched and that is likely not going to change on Friday night. Our experts do like the Cardinals to cover tonight, behind an improved game from quarterback, Malik Cunningham. The Knights should still have no trouble scoring, so for that reason, backing this prop looks to be worth a lean.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board has approved 888 Holdings VHL, Michigan LLC as the new platform provider for the Hannahville Indian Communitys online sports betting site effective Wednesday, Sept. 7. The tribe, which operates Island Resort & Casino in Harris, entered an agreement with 888 which runs SI Sportsbook after Churchill Down's TwinSpires, the original platform provider, announced earlier this year its plans to exit the business.

The Hannahville tribe is the first operator in Michigan to change platform providers since internet gaming and sports betting began here in January 2021, said Henry Williams, MGCB executive director, in an official press release Wednesday. The tribe has found another experienced partner, and I wish them continued success.

The site will operate under the Sports Illustrated brand name. At this time, the tribe and 888 Holdings have requested the MGCB to authorize online sports betting only, but they likely will seek approval for online gaming later this year. TwinSpires will no longer be offering online sports betting or online casino services.

The Hannahville Indian Community was among 10 licensees initially authorized by the MGCB to launch both forms of internet gaming in Michigan on Jan. 22, 2021. In mid-April, the MGCB authorized the states 15th internet gaming and sports betting operator. Licenses by law are limited to the commercial casinos and federally recognized tribes in Michigan.

In February, CDI said it is exiting the online casino and sports betting businesses, as Chief Executive Officer William Carstanjen told investors in a conference call. The Kentucky Derby operator, however, said it would still maintain its web-based horse betting operations.

CDIs departure from the sports gaming vertical was expected to happen over the following six months, according to company officials.The business will still maintain retail sportsbook operations in its casinos and try to sell market-access rights to other operators where appropriate.

For some time now, the rumor that CDI wanted to sell its sports and iGaming operations grew bigger.In December,Bloombergreported the company was exploring deals for its sportsbook product, working with an adviser to solicit potential interest in the wagering platform.At the time, it was saidTwinSpirescould fetch about $1.5 billion in a transaction.

Harvest season came early for Iowa sportsbooks, which claimed more than $14.4 million in sports wagering revenue in August, according to figures released Friday by the states Racing and Gaming Commission.

It was the second-highest revenue total in 37 months of wagering in the Hawkeye State, trailing only the $19.7 million generated last November. It is the third time this year, however, the house has topped $14 million, also doing so in January and March.

Revenue climbed 29% compared to Julys $11.2 million as operators posted back-to-back win rates above 10% for the first time since the first three months of operation following launch in August 2019. The 11.8% hold was the fourth highest overall, trailing only those first three months of business.

Handle increased 12.9% from July to $122.6 million, narrowly eclipsing Junes total. It was also a 13.1% increase compared to August of last year but revenue more than doubled versus 2021 as this years win rate was nearly six percentage points higher.

The state collected $970,000 in tax receipts, lifting the total to $6.4 million for the calendar year. That is $1.7 million ahead of last years pace. Year-to-date revenue is 37.9% higher, at $94.4 million from $1.4 billion wagered.

The top three mobile options in the Hawkeye State DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars Sportsbook all posted double-digit win rates, the first time that has occurred since October 2020, when FanDuel was in its second month of operation. DraftKings pulled off the double for the first time doing business in Iowa, accepting $33.2 million in bets and claiming $3.5 million revenue for a 10.5% hold.

FanDuel posted a 10.9% win rate as it kept $3.2 million of the $29.3 million wagered, while Caesars 10.7% hold was its best since an 11.6% mark in October 2020 as it claimed $2.4 million in revenue from $22.1 million handle. BetMGM was the only other book to achieve an eight-figure handle with $12.5 million, and also delivered a double-digit hold at 11.4% to generate $1.4 million in revenue.

The 10.6% overall mobile hold was the third highest all-time behind the 11.6% from the launch month of August 2019 on only $3.6 million handle and the 11.2% from October 2020 on $56.9 million. The $110.1 million mobile handle for this August accounted for 89.8% of the overall handle.

As impressively as mobile operators performed, their win rates paled in comparison to Iowas 19 brick-and-mortar sportsbooks. Those retail books combined for a staggering 21.8% hold on $12.5 million handle, generating $2.7 million in revenue. The retail win rate was the highest recorded outside the August 2019 debut, when the in-person hold was 35.2% from $4.9 million wagered.

The $2.7 million in retail revenue is a high for the calendar year and the most since the books claimed $2.9 million last November. Handle that month, though, was more than double this Augusts at $26.9 million. The overall retail win rate for the year is just under 8%.

Nine books finished with a hold above 20%, with three topping 30%. Lakeside Casino led all books with a 48.8% win rate, keeping $72,450 of $148,380 wagered and marking the second time outside the initial month of wagering any retail book in Iowa eclipsed a 40% hold with a minimum $100,000 handle. Wild Rose Casinos sportsbook in Emmetsburg had a 49.1% win rate in June 2021, claiming $59,375 in revenue from $121,009 in handle.

Casino Queen was on the opposite end of the spectrum. In addition to being the only retail book with a hold below 10%, it actually finished with a loss of $18,126 on $107,369 wagered for a negative-16.9% win rate. The last casino in Iowa to open a retail sportsbook, the Marquette venue came out just $3,465 ahead on $302,012 handle for its first 12 months of wagering good for a 1.2% hold.

Iowa Sportsbooks Enjoy Bumper August With $14.4M In Revenue - Sports Handle

A DraftKings Sportsbook bettor had a massive night on Tuesday, nailing all four picks for a big payout. By combining a 25% profit boost, the bettor turned $10 into $23,622.50 with a Parlay Bet on DraftKings Sportsbook.

The bettor made the following four-leg MLB Parlay Bet at +188900 odds:

Speed was the primary theme of this stolen base parlay. Three of the four players in this parlay have elite speed advanced metrics. According to the leagues player tracking system, which measures how fast players run, Trea Turner, Garrett Mitchell and Jake McCarthy all rank in the 99th percentile in sprint speed. Turner and Mitchell are tracked at 30.3 feet per second, with McCarthy at 30.1 feet per second. The league average sprint speed is roughly 27.0 feet per second.

Out of roughly 600 players to be tracked by the system in 2022, Turner ranks as the fourth fastest runner, Mitchell ranks as the sixth fastest runner, and McCarthy ranks as the 11th fastest runner. The only subpar runner in this parlay was Kyle Tucker, who is a tick below average at 26.7 feet per second. Building a stolen base parlay around elite speed was a good idea by this DraftKings Sportsbook bettor.

The first leg of the stolen base parlay was Los Angeles Dodgers SS Trea Turner vs. the San Francisco Giants. The Giants had a bullpen game going at pitcher and started Joey Bart at catcher.

Joey Bart has good advanced metrics behind the plate. Barts average pop time sits at 1.95 seconds, which is better than the league average pop time of about 2.0 seconds. Bart also has a plus arm, averaging about 82 mph on max-effort throws, which ranks 32nd out of 80 qualified catchers. MLB defines pop time as the time from the moment the pitch hits the catchers mitt to the moment the ball reaches the fielders projected receiving point at the basepop time is essentially a combination of exchange time and arm strength.

Bart having a plus pop time would make him a good candidate to throw baserunners out, but despite the strong advanced metrics, Bart has been below average at throwing baserunners out in his career, posting a career caught stealing percentage of 23%. The league average caught stealing percentage is about 25% in 2022.

Turner picked a marvelous pitch to attempt his stolen base on. Giants LHP Jarlin Garcia threw a loopy 80 mph slider that had 42 inches of vertical break and nine inches of horizontal break. The slow velocity plus the extra movement gave Turner huge margin for error in getting a good jump on Barts throw, and Turner stole the base in uncompetitive fashion:

Garrett Mitchell had a more difficult task. Mitchell was facing Rockies catcher Elias Diaz, who like Joey Bart has strong advanced metrics behind the plate. Diaz is averaging about 85 mph on max-effort throws, 14th best among 80 qualified catchers. Diazs pop time is also plus at 1.94 seconds, 19th best. Mitchell also ran on a 95 mph fastball that was boxed in the strike zone, which is an extremely difficult pitch to steal a base on. However, Mitchells elite speed made him no match for the throw, which was off-line due to being rushed, and Mitchell ended up stealing the base easily:

The third leg of the parlay, Jake McCarthy, had a closer call at second base. Padres catcher Jorge Alfaro has elite advanced metrics behind the plate, ranking fourth in average pop time (1.89 seconds) and third in average arm strength (88.3 mph). Alfaro got a good pitch to throwa 92 mph fastball that was in the strike zonebut McCarthys speed made Alfaro rush the throw, which ended up short and bouncing off McCarthy. The low throw was redirected into the outfield, and McCarthy took third base:

Through three legs of this parlay, elite speed has played a major role in forcing rushed throws, which ended up off-line.

The final leg of the parlay was the only below-average runner in this parlay, Kyle Tucker. Despite logging below-average speed, Tucker actually stole two bases in this game, easily surpassing the over/under of 0.5. The key to Tuckers success was running on two breaking balls that were located low. Rangers catcher Sam Huff has a cannon, posting the second-best arm strength in the league with an average of 88.4 mph on max-effort throws. However, throwing out a baserunner when receiving 80-mph sliders near the dirt is a difficult task for even the best throwers, and Tucker stole two bases without an issue.

This prop needs the Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes to both win by at least 14 points. The Bulldogs will open their National Championship title defense against the Oregon Ducks, while Ohio State will take on Notre Dame.
