Perth man left with catastrophic injuries after shooting himself in the head in Russian roulette game – 7NEWS

Posted: October 13, 2022 at 1:19 pm

A Perth man has been left with catastrophic head injuries after shooting himself in a suspected game of Russian roulette.

One of WAs top cops on Wednesday revealed the 31-year-old would be living with the consequences of that action forever after he was rushed to hospital with critical injuries last month.

Deputy Police Commissioner Allan Adams said it was lucky the man was not killed.

We know that on the 18th of September there was a group of young males at an address in Westminster, he told 6PR on Wednesday.

One of the (group) produced a Smith & Wesson revolver, placed a round in, rotated the barrel, a bit of Russian roulette has been reported and placed it to his head and pulled the trigger.

Unfortunately, the round aligned with the hammer of the revolver and he suffered serious, catastrophic head injuries but he hasnt passed away.

The man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

The West Australian reports at least one of the people at the home is understood to have links to the City Crew - a feeder group to the Coffin Cheaters bikie gang.

However, the wounded man - who is now in a stable condition - has no known bikie connections.

Adams said police are confident the wound was self-inflicted, with no charges to be laid against any other members of the group.

However, he revealed the firearm used was unlicensed and the injured man may or may not be charged, depending on his level of recovery.

Russian roulette is a potentially deadly game of chance in which players place a live round in a gun, spin the cylinder, place it against their head and fire in the hopes they get a blank.

The game can turn lethal if the loaded chamber aligns with the barrel on the players turn.

Conner Roulette cashing in on productive start to Saskatoon Blades tenure – Global News

Posted: at 1:19 pm

When the Saskatoon Blades have needed a goal, Conner Roulette has been there to provide a spark early in the season.

From highlight reel snipes to setting up his linemates, much of the Blades offence over their last five games has been created by the dynamic winger.

Roulette is coming off one of the most memorable weeks of his WHL career, including getting to play in his home province of Manitoba for the first time in close to four years.

He had a goal and two helpers in a 5-3 victory for Saskatoon, part of eight points in four games for the 19 year old in picking up WHL Player of the Week honours for the first time in his career.

Story continues below advertisement

Its one of the best weeks Ive probably had so far playing in the Dub,' said Roulette. Being able to go home and having such a great week on the ice and off the ice, its a really special moment.

Roulettes biggest moment in Blades colours so far came on Sunday afternoon, as he potted his second career WHL hat-trick in Saskatoons 4-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Prior to an upper-body injury to Egor Sidorov last weekend, the Blades top line of Roulette, Sidorov and Josh Pillar had driven the bus offensively with the trio combining for 14 of the teams 26 goals to begin the season.

For Roulette, he wouldnt be surprised to see his linemates pop up on the leagues radar soon if their production keeps up.

Its only a matter of time before [Pillar], said Roulette. I think [Pillar] deserves the next Player of the Week for sure.

Story continues below advertisement

The connection between Roulette and Pillar on Saskatoons top line is a bit ironic, especially considering the pair used to do battle on a nightly basis in the WHLs Western Conference with their previous clubs in the Seattle Thunderbirds and Kamloops Blazers.

Trending Now

He probably wont remember but I think we probably chirped each other a couple of times and kind of got under each others skin, said Roulette. I think thats part of the game. I never thought Id end up here playing with a player like that, one of the guys you look forward to stopping in the next game. But, now you look forward to playing with.

Roulette only trails Sidorov in team scoring for both goals and points with 10 points in five contests since being returned from Dallas Stars training camp.

Hell be counted on to provide offense even more with Sidorov now listed as week-to-week with his injury suffered last Friday in Brandon, as will rookie Jordan Keller who is expected to take the Belarussians place on the top unit.

In terms of whos with Roulette and Pillar, I liked Keller there, said Blades head coach Brennan Sonne. So, unless something changes I cant see why I wouldnt go with that.

Story continues below advertisement

Since being acquired in a blockbuster trade from Seattle in exchange for Kyle Crnkovic, its been a whirlwind six weeks for Roulette.

But even with the added pressures of such a deal, its been a remarkably smooth transition from the west coast to the prairies for the crafty playmaker.

You get traded and youre kind of nervous, said Roulette. Whole new setting, whole new arena, new city, everything is different. But, when youre able to get your feet under you early its a great feeling.

Riding a five-game point streak, Roulette will have the chance to extend it Sunday at 4:00 as the Blades play host to the Calgary Hitmen.

In the Streaming Roulette series we spotlight a fewnew-ish watches and freeze them randomly on the scroll bar. Whatever scene that comes up is the image we use. Usually we mix it up in terms of services but this week Amazon Prime is hogging our conversation. Your streaming assignments for the week, should you choose to accept them...

CATHERINE CALLED BIRDY(2022) on Amazon PrimeLena Dunham's medieval comedy stars Bella Ramsey as a 14 year old "Lady" who narrates the proceedings and in doing so gives off major Melanie Lynskey inHeavenly Creaturesvibes (minus the homicide). Trust that that's a huge compliment. Birdy's parents (the always wonderful thespians Andrew Scott and Billie Piper) need to marry her off to save the family from financial ruin. In the scene we randomly landed on above, Birdy is lusting after her uncle (Joe Alwyn) and wishing he were only her cousin instead so "true love could prevail" and they could be married. LOL. If the internet weren't so interested in hating on Lena Dunham, they'd discover she's made her best movie yet and one of the best comedies of the year. This is a fully enjoyable romp rom start to finish with extremely entertaining performances and witty dialogue. Even better, given the rampant lazy anachronisms in so many period pieces of late -- swear to god it's an epidemic -- this one has fun with the wedding of its modern soul to the stylized language of the period.

I suggest we just pass each other by."

WEREWOLF BY NIGHT (2022) on Disney+Gael Garca Bernal (playing Jack Russell -- get it? haha) and Laura Donnelly (as Elsa Bloodstone) headline this Halloween ready TV special that introduces us to the horror pocket of the Marvel Cinematic Universe via a Hunger Games style war between hunters. And why not? The MCU has already expanded to include the mystical arts wing as well as outer space divisions of the vast comic book mythology. Sadly while this is somewhat diverting it and blessedly short (given how overextended some of the other Marvel projects feels) it also feels rushed and under-written. The black and white lensing is fun though, as are a few of the visual effects (loved the shadow play). Bernal is magnetic, Donnelly is always reliable, and Harriet Samson Harris camps it up as the antagonist, the bloodthirsty widow of a famed monster hunter.

It occured to both of us that you couldn't put the [sings famous James Bond theme] "da da dee ya dadada " into Skyfall. It was just too outgoing."

7 Fascinating Facts to Know about the Roulette Wheel – Utah Pulse

Posted: at 1:19 pm

Gambling is an old recreational activity where people place bets on a particular outcome, and if they place the right bets, they win money. Many people enjoy gambling; they enjoy playing the game and the thrill associated with the bet. Some others like it because they can display their skills and also make a fortune out of it.

The traditional forms of gambling have undergone many changes. Most importantly, Casinos have become online, and players can enjoy their favorite game without even visiting a traditional Casino. If a person wants to enjoy a gamble from the comforts of his house, he can visit Realmoneycasinoonline.ca.

Although the way in which people gamble has undergone many changes yet peoples favorite games have remained the same for centuries. Blackjack, Poker, and Roulette continue to be the most loved Casino games. Of these, Roulette is a fairly simple game and is essentially a game of luck. However, central to Roulette is the Roulette wheel. There are many interesting facts about the spinning wheel, which are discussed below.

The game is simple and has a wheel and a ball that are set in motion. The wheel has many numbers and colors marked on it. A player places his bets on the numbers and the colors.

A person can place his bet on one single number or on multiple numbers.

After the wheel and the ball are spun, the ball eventually comes to rest and falls into a pocket that corresponds to any particular number and color. All those people who had placed their bets on that particular pocket win money, and all the others lose.

Serendipity means a discovery that has happened by chance. The Roulette wheel was not invented by a gambler or the owner of a Casino but by a scientist. It was probably invented in the seventeenth or eighteenth century by a French scientist. The scientist was trying to make a wheel that would continue to rotate forever once it was set in motion. However, the wheel did stop; but, it led to the discovery of the most famous Casino game ever.

Most people might think that the spinning wheel has only a single zero; however, many wheels have more than one zero. In fact, the most common version of Roulette is the American format which uses two zeros. The European version usually has a single zero, and some Chinese versions have three zeros as well.

The zero usually has a green color. When the ball falls into the pocket corresponding to zero, then all the players lose money, and the Casino benefits. Hence, if there are two spots for a zero, the Casino has a higher chance of not making any payout at all. Many players also place a bet on the number zero. The simple logic is that if the ball does fall into the pocket corresponding to zero, they will still win something, whereas everybody else will definitely lose.

The numbers on the Roulette wheel always add up to six hundred and sixty six. This sum is constant irrespective of the version of Roulette. In the American version, there are two zeros and thirty eight pockets. The European version has only one zero and thirty seven pockets. However, since zeros do not increase the sum of digits, the total always remains the same.

In all versions of the game, the wheel and the ball move in opposite directions. If the wheel moves in the clockwise direction, the ball will move in the other direction and vice versa. In fact, most Casinos alternatively rotate the wheel and the ball in a clockwise direction. This is done to assure the players that the wheel is fair and is not biased in favor of the Casino.

In most Casino games, there is a dealer who distributes the cards, collects the bets, etc. In a game of Roulette, the dealer has a specific name. He is known as a Croupier. He collects the bets, spins the table, and he also guides the players in placing bets. Thus, in this case, the dealer aids the players, unlike in Blackjack, where the bets are placed against the dealer.

The game is purely based on luck, and each number has an equal probability of winning.

Hence, if someone has placed a bet on one number, his probability of winning is one part out of the total number of pockets on the table. Despite this, players seem to believe that the number seventeen has a higher chance of winning. Although there is no scientific reason for this, most players bet on the number seventeen.

Roulette has very strict rules. In most Casinos, no player can place a bet after the dealer has announced that the bets for a particular round have been closed. Again, bets can only be placed in the form of chips and not in the form of actual currency. Also, people are not allowed to eat while they are playing. This is probably because tiny food particles can damage the spinning wheel.

The game of Roulette depends only on luck, and there is no strategy for winning. Hence, this game puts experienced players and new players at the same level to some extent.

Since luck is the only factor that leads to a win, this game has been named the game of the devil. This is because many people have lost a lot of money by playing the game where sheer luck matters.

Despite the limitations, Roulette continues to remain a loved game among casino lovers.

Today the game is available in online Casinos, and hence the popularity of this game is expected to rise and reach more people in the near future.

Russian Roulette: How Ukraine Can Win the Game (Part 2) – Kyiv Post

Posted: at 1:19 pm

Player #3: Ukrainian nation

Starting with a first-in-the-world Constitution, Cossacks traditions, and a strong civil society, Ukraine has always had a rich democratic background. However, due to never-ending oppression from its northern neighbor, as well as rampant corruption (supported by this same neighbor), Ukrainian democracy has been historically suffocated, sabotaged, and limited in its development.

While never posing a threat to the Russian people, Ukraine is now forced to pay with the lives of its people for the inability of its elites to take a strong stand and end its common history and one people narrative once and for all. Sitting on two chairs, flirting with both the West and Russia, the sober truth is that Ukrainian elites have contributed to their country falling into the biggest bloodbath since World War II.

Ultimately, had it not put up a forceful resistance, Ukraine could have instead opted for the role of an eternal smaller brother, one whose identity is destroyed and whose fate is forever limited to being a mere Russian enclave. But that is not who the Ukrainian people are. Fiercely independent, possessing of uncommon dignity, it is the people of Ukraine who having been given no choice must now fight to the end. And, ultimately, it is Ukraine that can reap the highest reward.

Ukraine wont simply be fashionable as it is today but, more importantly, will finally become relevant to the world as an independent and reliable partner in not only the worlds technological development, but, remarkably, as a guardian of liberal global democracy.

Ukraine has all the potential for becoming a key regional player if its economic and ideological dependency from Russia is severed for good. Consider that Ukraine:

If the Ukrainian army manages to drive Russians out of its land, and the Ukrainian people succeed in rooting out the corruption that has stalled development for decades, there will be no barriers to its growth. Ukraine will take its rightful place among the geopolitical elite.

Player #4: Post-Soviet states

Having successfully integrated into the world economy, be it through Europe, China, or the U.S., most post-Soviet states have managed to use the three decades of their independence wisely. Still, the lingering influence of their Soviet past, as well as never-ending Russian interference, hangs over their future like the sword of Damocles.

Some of them stayed totalitarian and corrupt, like most of the stans, while others managed to become economically and politically relevant members of the European community.

Yet, considerable Russian-speaking minorities, unwilling to play by the rules of their host states, have always represented a threat to these countries national interests. Business as usual prevents these countries from undertaking the action necessary to safeguard national survival.

Fortunately for the post-Soviet states, Russia has unwittingly presented them with a chance to remove the ghost of the Soviet past legitimately and irreversibly. Just like the West, all post-Soviet states have received an unprecedented chance for a reset button.

It is never a good idea to discriminate against people based on their culture or language. Suddenly, however, it becomes a great idea if the discriminated people become a post hoc reason for a potentially genocidal invasion of your own nation as is now happening in Ukraine.

To be clear, no one would ever touch Russian speakers had the Russian leadership not decided to liberate them in these sovereign states. The entire notion of persecuted Russian-speakers is a Kremlin lie designed to give flimsy cover to Russias long-standing goals of imperial conquest, again, having nothing else with which to achieve Russian greatness.

While largely unconcerned about the fate of Ukraine and Ukrainians, these other post-Soviet states now recognize this war as their fight as well, providing a welcome and urgent opportunity to throw off a yoke that has slowed their progress for decades.

Player #5: China

China is the biggest unknown in the game. Historically, China has been very close to Russia. In fact, the modern Chinese state is the result of China successfully revising a Communist ideology originally created in Bolshevik Russia. As such, Communist China has always been a close ally of the Russian leadership.

Accounting for widespread human rights violations and ubiquitous surveillance of its population, China, nevertheless, has managed to create a strong economy and a viable middle class. Equally, China has decided to achieve world domination by playing by the rules of the international community: China is not interested in nuclear blackmail or open territorial conquest; it can achieve its goals with the help of its robust technology and the consistent accumulation of land and resources around the globe.

China today is a reasonably strong Capitalistic society, so much so that it has too much to lose by breaking the rules of the game. On the contrary, China has much more to gain by patching its relations with the West and securing a position of a trusted exporter and technology partner the position, largely at risk since the Trump presidency.

Being a rational actor (so far), China has no interest in joining Russian leadership on its desperate and morally destitute adventure.

In fact, a destroyed and disintegrated Russia will be of far greater interest to the Chinese state, who will play the role of savior and legitimate investor, opportunistically taking the break-away regions of Russia under its protectorate, finally developing far-away Russian lands, and giving the Chinese people much-needed territorial breathing room. No nation will be spared the ravages of mass climate migrations.

The map below is all you need to know about what China perceives as the eventual grand prize in this war.

Conclusion

Russian Roulette is a game defined by chance. Unlike other games, the initiator does not usually stand in a better or worse position compared to other players. However, for the player firing last, after the other players have all survived their turns, the odds of survival are grim.

So far, no one has been eliminated. However, Russia seems to be nearing its last, nuclear, shot, with no way to back out of this reckless game.

In the absence of any real technological progress, educated modern society, or substantial military gains, Russia and its elites look much more desperate than before they started. Moreover, Russias war has pulled the curtain away from its vaunted propaganda machine to reveal the rot behind.

Russia is not a superpower, but instead a disintegrated relegate outcast, led by corrupt leadership, with a backward society, and failing to achieve any of its announced military goals.

On the other hand, Ukraine has not only proven its right to exist, but has also shown an unprecedented ability to mobilize its resources, defeat enemies on the battlefield, and maintain a functioning economy and a resilient civil society all of which have become examples for the whole world.

Kate Levchuk was born and raised in Odesa. A Futurist with a background in International Relations, Geopolitics and Venture Capital, she is a frequent guest lecturer advocating for science and progress. Kate lives in London.

R. Paul Wilson On: Norman Leigh And The Reverse Labouchere System – Casino.Org News

Posted: at 1:18 pm

My main profession these days is as a filmmakerand while I remain fully committed to beating scams, collecting cons andprotecting the public, I am always working on funding that next movie, documentary or series.

One story that I would love to tell has beenfilmed before but in my opinion remains an untapped source for a brilliantlyfunny, suspenseful adventure featuring a gang of English middle-class misfitsbreaking the bank of an iconic European casino.

This is what they did, how they did it, and whyit hasnt happened since.

In my version of this story, Norman Leigh wouldbe straight out of an Ealing comedy casting book a mixture of Alistair Sims,Sir John Mills and Bill Nighy.

An English gentleman with a plan to beat casinoson the continent with a seemingly ingenious twist on an old betting strategy.

To realize this plan, Norman placed an ad in thenewspaper that attracted the interest of a dozen characters who could each befound in a usual suspects line-up of 1960s English society.

This included an undercover policeman who believedthe scheme might be some kind of con or a fraud against the gamblingestablishment but soon discovered that Normans idea was perfectly legal andseemingly, a sure-fire way to beat the casinos at their own game.

He was so convinced that he took a leave ofabsence and joined Normans team!

The game was roulette, and the system was the Reverse Labouchere.

First, lets start with the Labouchere system that is relatively simple to understand but do bear with me as it can seem more complicated than it actually is.

This type of system is designed for (almost)50/50 type bets like red/black on the roulette table.

The player starts with a series of numbers whichcan be as short as three digits, but longer strings can be used with somegamblers insisting certain combinations offer better odds (I would advise youto ignore this because ultimately the flaws in such systems remain thesame).

So lets say you write down a string of digitsas follows: 1-2-3.

The sum of these digits is 6, and thats theamount you should expect to win if this plays out in your favor.

To play, you must always bet the sum of thefirst and last digits in your string.

In this case it is 1 + 3, which means the firstbet is $4.

The rules are that if you LOSE that bet you addthe amount of the bet to the end of your string of digits, which would become1-2-3-4.

This would continue for each loss, the next betbeing $5 (1 + 4 the sum of first and last digit) adding the number 5 to theend of your string should you lose.

But what if you win?

When you win, you delete the first and lastnumbers and then add the first and last remaining numbers of your stringof digits.

Lets say you win the third bet, which was a $6bet since 1 and 5 were the first and last digits after losing the second bet.

You now delete the first and last digits (the 1and the 5) leaving you with 2-3-4 as your remaining string.

And so it continues until your string of numbersis erased by enough wins (if you get down to just one digit remaining of yourstring thats the amount you bet).

In the end, if you erase all your digits, yourprofit will equal the sum of the digits in your initial string.

I told you it would seem complicated but playwith this for a few imaginary bets (maybe toss a coin and bet heads and tailswith this system) and youll see that its really quite simple.

So long as you dont hit a long series oflosses, you can absolutely make your target amount (the sum of your initialstring of numbers) providing you have deep enough pockets to increase your betswhenever you lose.

In this sense, its really just a version of the Martingale and can be both fun to play and deceptively effective over time.

But, just like the Martingale, its primarily abetting strategy; not a playing system that offers any kind of advantageagainst the house.

Norman Leighs preferred version was called theReverse Labouchere because it increased bets when the player won anddecreased bets when they lost.

As with the Labouchere, the Reverse requiresplayers to write down or mentally track a string of numbers.

Like the Labouchere, bets are decided by addingthe first and last digits of the string but here you will add your winningbets to the end and delete the first and last digits when you lose the exact opposite of the method dictated by the Labouchere.

So if you lose the first two bets, the string isdeleted and you either begin again with a fresh string (in our example, 1-2-3)or leave the table.

If you win, however, you add the winning bet tothe end (1-2-3-4) and then bet again by adding the first and last digits ($5).

Continue until you reach a pre-determined profit,at which point you either retire from the table or start a fresh string (1-2-3)and pocket your winnings from that round of play.

In effect, it is a money management systemsimilar to that of gambling legend Nick The Greek whose book Gambling Secretsof Nick The Greek amounted to bet more when youre winning and less whenyoure losing!

The 13 players who descended upon Nice, France, and Monte Carlo, Monaco, were also able to increase the amount being risked, since Normans bankroll was distributed between theplayers who were essentially hiding in plain sight.

And did it work?

Did Norman and his 12 cohorts defeat thecasinos?

You bet they did!

Norman and his dapper dozen broke the bank atMonte Carlo and Norman was quickly blacklisted, despite the casino having noidea what he was doing to beat their games.

If they had known and had they been smart they should have given Norman and his crew free rooms for a fortnight andwatched them blow back every penny that theyd previously won thanks to pureluck.

Heres the rub:

The Reverse Labouchere doesnt change the odds,it only limits your losses.

But if you keep playing, those losses will addup and while the same system increases returns during a winning streak the onlyway to benefit from that is to stop playing, which they did only thanks tothe casinos shutting them all down!

Other than a dry TV Mini-series, the adventures of Norman Leigh are best presented in his book Thirteen Against The Bank and Id rather you read that than spoil all the details for you here.

It would make a fantastic comedy adventure foranyone who owns the rights and can raise the budget; theres a fantastic storyto be told but theres one factor many neglect to mention in the telling: Thatits never been repeated.

Martingale-type systems chase ever-increasinglosses until stopped by the table limit or a players limited bankroll.

Such losses can be a lot more than players mightimagine thanks to the nature of random outcomes and the fact that gamblingdevices have no memory, so it is entirely possible for a 50/50 outcome not tooccur after dozens of fair rolls, spins or turns.

The same can be true for a series of wins and inthe case of Norman Leigh and his assault on Monte Carlo, he was simply thebenefactor of a terrific run of luck that was halted before the tide could turnthe other way as it always, always does.

That being said, in my movie, the ending wouldbe better

What Online Casino Games Are Most Popular In The UK? – Worcester News

Posted: at 1:18 pm

Online casino gaming in the UK is bigger than ever. New online casinos continue to pop up, and new online slots are constantly being released.

The UK also has some of the worlds biggest online gambling companies. Blueprint Gaming, Microgaming and Playtech are some of the top providers. With that in mind, its no wonder why online gambling is so popular in the UK. But what are the most popular online casino games to play in the UK today?

Finding a reputable casino online is simple. Before you play the most popular online casino games, its essential to find a reputable online casino. There are hundreds of different online casinos to choose from, and new ones always pop up.

There are many things that you can do to check if an online casino is legitimate. All online casinos in the UK must be registered and licensed with the UK Gambling Commission. The logo should be easy to find on the website; if its not, its best to avoid that casino.

Another good thing to do while searching for a reliable online casino is to read other peoples experiences and reviews of the casino. You also need to check the security of the casino and the quality of the website.

Online slots are by far the most popular choice of casino games for UK gamblers. In the last year, online slots have continued to boom. Video slots are shaking things up, and the graphics and features are better than ever. There are big jackpots potentially up for grabs, too, with simple gameplay.

Online slots are the easiest casino games to play, so its no wonder why so many people in the UK choose to play online slots. Online slots require little knowledge, and there are no complicated strategies or rules to learn. The online gambling industry wants into California but do we want to let them in? – Valley Voice

Posted: September 3, 2022 at 4:35 pm

Do your eyes glaze over every time a campaign ad flashes across your screen about Proposition 27 or 26?

Both sides have spent a combined $320 million to get your vote, but their ads dont always paint an accurate or complete picture.

Here is a more realistic synopsis.

In 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court legalized sports betting outside of Nevada, meaning gamblers could now bet on football and baseball and almost all other sporting events.

Now each state is free to decide for themselves, and since the Supreme Court ruling, 34 states and the District of Columbia have legalized sports betting either online or in-person.

Both Prop 26 and 27 would legalize sports betting in California if passed.

The difference is that Prop 26 only legalizes sports betting in person and Prop 27 makes it legal to gamble online.

Prop 27 is being pushed by the out-of-state online gambling industry and will generate billions of dollars for their companies, most of which will leave the state.

Prop 26 is backed by many of the Native American tribes who run the larger casinos. The tribal casinos will see an influx of tens of millions of dollars on sports betting done at their casinos, and most of it will stay in the state.

In a strange twist of fate in these partisan times, the state Republican and Democratic parties oppose Prop 27 as do their leaders in the Assembly and Senate. The state GOP also opposes 26, while the Democratic Party is neutral.

The official line on the propositions

Prop 26, or the California Sports Wagering Regulation and Unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act, would allow tribal casinos and the states four horse race tracks to offer sports betting. It would also allow tribal casinos to expand their gambling offerings to roulette and dice games.

AYESvote on 26 measure means according to the California Attorney General:

ANOvote on 26 measure means:

Prop 27 is called California Solutions to Homelessness and Mental Health Act and would legalize online sports betting outside of Native American lands, and allow gaming companies to offer online sports betting if they partner with a tribe.

AYESvote on 27 measure means as prepared by the CA Attorney General:

ANOvote on 27 measure means:

What does your vote mean?

If you vote yes on both Prop 26 and 27 both new laws will go into effect because they do not necessarily cancel each other out. But it is widely accepted that the tribal casinos will file a lawsuit to keep Prop 27 from becoming law and to prevent online betting.

If you vote no on both Prop 26 and 27, sports betting online or in person will remain illegal in California.

If you vote yes on Prop 27 and no on Prop 26, anyone with a cell phone will be able to gamble online on sporting events.

If you vote yes on Prop 26 and no on Pro 27, betting on sporting events will have to be done in person at a casino. Prop 26 also has a provision in it that might force the states 84 card rooms out of business.

Who is for and against Proposition 27 and where does the money go?

According to a report done by McClatchy, Online gambling companies: FanDuel, DraftKings and other giants of internet wagering have contributed $150 million to pass Proposition 27, which would open up online sports betting and raise hundreds of millions in new taxes for homeless programs. Proposition 27 says the companies would have to partner with a tribe. Tribes could also operate online sports betting on their own.

Tribes who run large casinos have contributed $118 million into Prop 26. According to McClatchy, among the big donors is the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, owner of Cache Creek Casino. Tribes argue that the rival plan, promoted by online gambling companies, would harm their business and erode their hard-won economic gains.

But not all the California tribes are in lock step against Prop 27.

The Tachi Yokuts that runs Tachi Palace in Kings County is one of three tribes who have joined the Yes on 27 campaign. Tachi says online sports betting would generate far greater prosperity for their people. Limiting sports betting to in-person they say will favor the larger casinos.

However the Tule River Tribe that runs Eagle Mountain in Tulare County outside of Porterville is steadfastly against Prop 27.

The Desert Sun stated, The reason for the tribes mobilization against the online measure is clear. Online sports betting accounts for between 85% and 90% of the total market in states where its legal, were going to see decreases in people going to the physical casinos, and I think thats the big concern for the tribes here.

Eagle Mountain is relocating to a location right off Highway 65 and enlarging their casino.

Homeless advocate organizations are also split on Proposition 27. Some have endorsed the Yes on 27 campaign along with the mayors of Oakland, Sacramento and Fresnos Jerry Dyer who all are battling their own homeless crisis.

But according to a report by McClatchy, some homeless advocates have branded Proposition 27 a cynical ploy that wont solve the problem. The online companies would take their profits out of the state and leave just a few crumbs for homeless programs, they argue.

The legislative budget analysis has predicted online betting would generate approximately $500 million annually.

But California allots $10 billion in the state budget to go towards homelessness.

Governor Gavin Newsom said during a speech at a Los Angeles housing project that, maybe it will provide a few dollars.

Its not a homeless initiative, and I know Angelenos can read between the lines and know better, he said.

Card room are also opposed to Prop 26. They fear that Prop 26 would put themout of business, placing thousands of jobs at risks and putting a dent in local governments revenue streams. They have contributed $41 million to oppose Prop 26 saying they are concerned about a provision that would allow tribes to sue card rooms for alleged improprieties in their gaming operations.

Who wins?

Historically, California initiatives are more likely to fail than pass. Add to that, when voters are confused by two dueling initiatives the likelihood of them passing goes down even further

In a poll taken by FM3, a company used by Visalia for past ballot measures, 58% of voters opposed Prop 27 and 33% said they were likely to vote yes.

And so what is expected to be the costliest initiative campaign in U.S. history may all have been for naught.

If Proposition 26 passes, tribes that run casinos will be able to increase their profits by the tens of millions a year through in person sports betting.

But online betting is a horse of a different color.

The gambling industry has been desperate to infiltrate Californias market since the 2018 Supreme Court decision. With a population of 40 million, California is the goose that laid the golden egg and if Proposition 27 passes we will be handing over billions of dollars a year to the out-of-state online gambling industry.

And so naming Prop 27 California Solutions to Homelessness and Mental Health Act could be interpreted as less than honest.

According to McClatchy, Amid the confusion, one thing is clear: Online sports betting would represent a staggering expansion of gambling in California. Tens of billions of dollars would likely be wagered. The online companies share, after paying off the winning bets, would come to an estimated $3.2 billion a year, said D.J. Leary, director of business development at market research firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming.

You exponentially increase the number of people betting on sports, said Richard Auxier, an analyst with the Urban Institute think tank.
