Jasmine TXO: The key to cracking TikTok – Ragtrader

I think the number one thing for a fashion brand to note before working with a TikTok creator is to always allow for creative freedom. As content creators, we understand that brands often have a specific vision in mind, particularly fashion brands, since the items being sold are tangible and shown on screen visually.

In saying this, giving creators a brief that aligns with the brands vision and key messaging yet remains open to individual interpretation means that the creator is being authentic with their content. Audiences know when a creator is uploading content that does not align with their regular style or format, so its important that this is always taken into consideration by the brand.

More specifically, in regards to creators who focus on building and maintaining a strong community online, it can be extremely jarring for their long term viewers to come across their favourite creator on the following or for you page only to find content that they would never usually have any interest in watching.

This lack of authenticity not only comes across to the viewer, but in turn can have significant impact on the engagement of the content. Factors including watch time, saves, shares and likes are the biggest contributors to the way content performs on the platform, so if a viewer is not interacting with the video as they usually would it is likely that the branded content will not perform on par with the creators organic content. Hence why creative freedom is pivotal in ensuring the best results for both the creator and the brand.

Fashion has never been more consumable than in the age of social media! The very platforms that we use to both produce and consume social media have such smart algorithms that cater our media to our specific tastes depending on the content we engage with the most.

TikTok, is remarkably one of the best platforms at doing this which makes fashion so consumable. As a result, fashion brands can be sure that the creators they work with have a large portion of their audience that are inspired by their style.

Consumers can picture themselves in fashion pieces like never before, but I think we can take this further.

As a transgender woman who started her transition at 12, fashion was a very important part of my transition. Years later, having found a style that compliments my femininity and personality, I have the privilege of educating over 600k people on my platforms.

If we take this into account, I think fashion brands can make a huge difference when it comes to supporting those who need it most.

By aligning with creators who represent minority groups, fashion brands are not just saying that they stand with us but they ARE standing with us.

Fashion brands that take the plunge and dare to be different have the power to help so many diverse people find their fashion sense through the creators that represent them, and in-turn make their life that little bit fiercer!

TikTok is an exciting way for brands and creators to come together in a beautiful partnership that can lead to success on both sides. Cracking the TikTok algorithm and winning the hearts of its users can, however, be tricky.

I think the most prominent factor fashion brands should know about working with TikTok creators, is that like themselves, TikTok creators also have their own brand and aesthetic theyre trying to establish or have established. So sometimes, rather than going with the most popular creator with the largest following, choosing to go with a creator with a really established community, high engagement levels, and that has a following similar to that of a fashion brand, can sometimes be a much more successful campaign or partnership.

Sometimes creators and influencers online can feel more approachable and real compared to the big celebrities. Audiences can see themselves in online influencers in a way they cant with celebrities. Seeing someone you can relate to wearing a specific piece in their style can be much more influential than seeing a supermodel wearing the exact same piece down a runway at Paris Fashion Week.

The other thing to keep in mind is the sheer reach some creators have on TikTok compared to a lot of the big celebrities. Gen Z mainly resides on TikTok and submerge themselves in influencer culture, so it is a way for brands to stay current and on-trend.

What the POTS shutdown will mean for faxing in the healthcare industry – Healthcare Dive

Posted: at 1:16 pm

After a remarkable 100-year run, the FCC is officially closing the door on traditional analog copper POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service), the standard telephone infrastructure weve all used forever.

For businesses in virtually every industry, the old-fashioned copper wires have been the default communication protocol not only for phone usage but for other services such as analog fax lines andfor healthcare providers and payers, on-premise paper fax machines.

But holding on to the traditional copper wires that make up the foundation of this aging infrastructure could cause major disruptions to your healthcare organizations workflows in the ever-evolving health IT landscape, and now is the time to act.

The FCC has issued Order 10-72A1, which mandates that all POTS Lines in the USA be replaced with an alternative service by August 2, 2022. (Read the latest updates from the FCC.)

Whether your telecom carrier completes its shutdown of your organizations POTS phone/fax service by that date or soon after, you need to move quickly to find alternative solutions for your organizations vital daily communications.

The world we live in continues to push forward in the realm of interoperability a world where different systems or software can share digital information through the cloud. Imagine being able to exchange important patient information (electronic health records, referrals, prior authorizations and prescription orders) securely and efficiently, via digital cloud fax technology instead of transmitting information precariously through the copper wire running down the side of your street. And imagine these cloud fax transmissions improving your organizations compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and other health related regulatory groups and oversight commissions.

Many hospitals and physician practices have already made the transition from on-premise paper fax machines to digital cloud faxing - but those organizations are outnumbered by those still relying on paper fax. Now is the time to make the transition - before the cloud faxing providers raise their prices to meet demand created by changing government regulations.

Traditional wired systems are being actively replaced by data-driven and wireless cloud services, which are becoming main solutions for communication as the healthcare industry moves forward with more modern, flexible communications environments. But the transition to next-generation technology has been slow, even with carriers encouraging and incentivizing customers to make the switch to cloud-based digital communications.

Today, there are more than 36 million active POTS lines being used to support businesses and healthcare organizations in the United States. Many health providers lean heavily on these lines for needs revolving around their in-house fax machines particularly in industries such as healthcare IT, which has been careful and deliberate in adopting new technologies.

Unfortunately, relying on analog telephony for their fax needs means these organizations spend too much time scanning, uploading, faxing, and filing the never-ending cycle of the paper-based workflow. In addition to time-consuming clerical work, these in-house fax machines require constant updates both physical and systematic which require manual labor and a hefty payment.

Additionally analog fax lines tied to traditional fax machines now represent a serious vulnerability to the healthcare industries ongoing business operations because when organizations migrate to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) for phone service, they wont find a seamless transition from their VoIP provider for their faxing infrastructure.

Not only is there the issue of communication between POTS and technologically advanced systems, but there is a critical issue around cost. The cost alone to service healthcare organizations with a POTS-based infrastructure is continuing to skyrocket as the price of copper coupled with their aging networks upkeep are simply too high to maintain. Telecom carriers dealing with this increased cost are passing it on to their customers, incentivizing those customers to convert to less-expensive, next-generation technology.

While most document-reliant organizations are understandably hesitant to make the switch the healthcare industry has historically preferred to wait before upgrading to new technology its important to keep in mind that the benefits far outweigh any risks or roadblocks that might arise. And with the impending POTS shutdown, youll need to choose between two options when deciding to make your move. You can stick with your current provider, or find a new provider specifically suited to fit your migration needs including the need to implement and maintain digital fax capability to securely transmit vital patient history documents and electronic health records from peripheral facilities such as clinics, and physicians practices to the point of care.

Well assume that your organization has already retired most of your telephone landlines and copper wiresand that youve upgraded to a more mobile and flexible technology, such as VoIP, for your phone calls.

But if youre like the many healthcare organizations we hear from on a regular basis, you are still relying on the POTS network to transmit your companys faxes. You might not even realize it. But yes, your faxes still traverse the old-fashioned phone network even if youre using on-prem fax servers or a hybrid solution that handles some of your faxing in the cloud and lets you manage the rest onsite.

The reality is, almost every type of fax solution out there still uses the legacy telephone infrastructure to some degree. And considering that healthcare organizations like yours depend on faxing for your important daily workflows, the last thing you want is to discover only after the POTS shutdown that your faxing capability has suddenly been disrupted and you need to quickly find a new way to send and receive secure, digital cloud faxes.

Businesses in every industrynot just healthcarewill soon be affected by this important change to the global communications infrastructure

Back Issues: Connecting with the past via historical objects – Stuff

Posted: at 1:16 pm

Saturday is the 158th anniversary of an event that seems to be a little bit lost to the history books.

The focus of the event was a singular piece of paper, one that had gathered more than 150 people together.

They met on the edge of the Manawat Awa at Raukawakawa Pa under the shining sun as it was stated on the paper of focus.

They met to agree to a momentous sale - a 250,000 acre block of land which Rangitne, led by paramount chief Te Hirawanui Kaimokopuna agreed to sell to the Crown on July 23, 1864.

Over the next few months you will increasingly see the name Te Hirawanui in relation to the local government elections.

The new Mori ward is called Te Pao Ward, which will have two councillors, and the general ward is called Te Hirawanui Ward, which will have 13 councillors.

When we had the idea to write a Back Issues instalment for July 23, we expected to spend the length of this feature on the July 23 sale of the Te Ahu a Turanga block. As part of our research, we visited Archives New Zealand to view the original deed of sale.

While we had already viewed a digitised version of the deed online, numerous times, we wanted to see the real thing for ourselves, in person, with our own eyes, and not mediated through a screen.

What happened at the archive changed our minds on what to write next.

Warren

After requesting to view the deed, I was told there would be a 20-minute wait.

During that time I started to really anticipate the arrival of this pivotal document. I started to imagine how big it might be, what the paper might be like and whether it was intact. Would I need to wear gloves? Would it be fragile?

I could see that the folder was quite small when we were called to the retrievals' desk, and once we were in the reading room area, I could see that the deed was folded in four.

Warren Warbrick views the Te Ahu a Turanga deed of sale (1864) for the first time at Archives New Zealand.

I was initially mesmerised by the ink work, the artistry of the map of Te Ahu a Turanga and the colours seemed unfaded after all this time. But as I unfolded the document, I found myself immediately scanning and searching for familiar names.

The first two names topping the long list of signatures were Hoani Meihana Te Rangiotu and Te Hirawanui Kaimokopuna.

About 25 years earlier Hoani Meihana had converted to Anglicanism, later becoming a lay reader. As a consequence, he was able to read and write in both te reo Mori and English. On the deed, his was a delicate and careful signature.

Gottfried Laudauer's portrait of Hoani Meihana Te Rangiotu, 1884.

Te Hirawanui on the other hand had chosen to mark the deed with an X between his first and last names, as did most on the list.

Hoani Meihana Te Rangiotu is my Great-Great-Great-Grandfather. There is a magnificent painting of Hoani Meihana within iwi ownership, I have seen many photocopies of his handwritten letters, and I know a good deal about him, but even so, to see his own signature on this document it was mind-bending.

I felt compelled to hongi the deed.

Hare Rakena Te Awe Awe circa 1900.

Hare Rakena Te Awe Awe also marked the deed with an X. My great-great-grandfather became a Rangitne chief, after the death of his brother of Te Peeti Te Awe Awe.

Hare Rakena had stood at Raukawakawa Pa in 1864, just like I was in that moment in the reading room of the Government archives in Wellington, looking at the deed, as he would have.

I would like to think that other descendants of the signatories who get to meet this deed will have the same experience in connecting so closely with our ancestors.

Virginia

I grew up in Wellington. My first serious job out of Victoria University of Wellington was at The Science Centre & Manawat Museum Te Whare Pupuri Taonga o Manawat, in the exhibitions team.

Some of the first exhibitions I worked on included the Clarice Cliff show, Liquid Jade The Story of Tea, With This Ring a weddings/marriage exhibition (no one seemed to be able to decide or agree) and a series of community exhibitions.

I remember NiHao (Chinese community), Afio Mai (Samoan community), Swagatam (Indian community), Harambee (peoples of the African continent) and Great Scot (Scottish community).

Most of these exhibitions included a mix of objects from community members and from the museums own collection, along with photos and family stories of participants from each community.

Winifred plays women's hockey circa 1920.

During the first few weeks of my starting work in Palmerston North, my dad came to visit from Wellington.

He told me that his mother, Winifred Mardon, had grown up in Palmerston North. Over the next few years, I came to learn more about the Mardon family.

They were flaxmillers who had relocated from Christchurch to Manawat on The Queen of the South in 1895.

They set up as the Mardon Bros Flaxmill, near Rangiotu, and my Nana was born there in 1905. She was later a foundation student at Palmerston North Girls High School, when the family lived in Joseph St.

The February 1 1917 Manawat Times reports: "Wilkie Mardon took a keen interest in sport, particularly in hockey and football, where his sportsmanlike conduct was much appreciated." Wilkie stands in the back row, fifth from the left as a member of the three-time Manawat junior championship-winning hockey team.

One of Nanas older brothers was Charles Wilkie Mardon. In 1917, the Manawat Times reported, Upon the outbreak of war, Trooper Mardon was one of the first to enlist, and went to Samoa, with the Palmerston section of the 1st Expeditionary Force.

Wilkie had been employed by the Hopwood Hardware Company at the time. He later joined the Seventh Reinforcements, based in Egypt. But, Wilkie never returned home as he died of illness in Alexandria, in 1917.

It then occurred to me that Wilkie might be named on the War Memorial in the centre of Te Marae o Hine / The Square.

As I stood in front of that monument, seeing his name for the first time, I realised his grieving parents, my great-grandparents, Charles and Lucy, would have stood in the same spot, from its unveiling in 1926, and for years and decades to come, reflecting on his name and his short life.

Dad had told me of a glass-fronted oak cabinet in the Joseph St family home. For decades, the cabinet held wooden and tapa tourist items that Wilkie had brought home from Samoa in 1914, now bound up in grief. Dad wondered if they had since been donated to a museum.

Supplied

The Mardon Bros. Flaxmill, a one-stripper mill located on the bank of the Manawat River near Rangiotu.

The next day I asked Te Manawa collection manager Cindy Lilburn if they had Mardon items in the database. What took my breath away was the realisation I had already handled some of Wilkies gifts, for the Afio Mai, Samoan community exhibition.

On this anniversary day, we encourage you to consider how to connect to your recent (or distant) ancestors in Palmerston North. Whether that is through place a spot, a gaze; or through images visit the Manawat Heritage website for inspiration; or through objects such as those held at Te Manawa Museum.

Or consider uploading photos or donating objects for your descendants to connect with you in the future. Our local storehouses of memory play such a vital role in our community and we welcome Susanna Shadbolt back to the city as she becomes the leader of Te Manawa Museum on Monday.

Mauri ora!

Warren and Virginia Warbrick work with local histories and experiences as THEN Histories of Pmutana. Together they are the current Local Historian of the Year.

Hidden MrBeast Video Sees the Popular Millionaire Put Over $50,000 on the Line for His Fans – EssentiallySports

Posted: July 17, 2022 at 9:04 am

MrBeast is known for his amazing content and mind-boggling videos that he keeps uploading on his ever-growing channel. However, coming as a surprise, the social media celebrity decided not to share his recent clip on YouTube.

That may sound bizarre and also weird to many of his fans, but MrBeast eventually opted out to upload his newest video on the streaming platform. While the reason behind this move is unknown, the video itself is quite intriguing, to say the least. Thats because the creator and streamer did upload it on his Facebook page for the fans. Lets see whats there in this not-for-YouTube clip.

Thanks to Facebook, we can at least have a glimpse of what is exactly there in Jimmys now forbidden video from YouTube. Apparently, the streamer went for another giveaway of lucrative prizes in this clip. But as is the case with his every video, he had some exciting challenges for the participants to win their desired items.

Starting with the first one, MrBeast literally put a case full of $10,000 inside an ice box. Yes, the case with the prize money inside it was covered in ice and the participants had to break it in order to claim this amount. The condition was to break the ice in limited attempts only.

The first person picked number 15 between 1 and 20, and MrBeast then revealed to him that it basically meant he had fifteen swings to break the ice box with an axe. Sadly, though, this individual couldnt do it even after breaking half of the ice. Fortunately, another participant, named Felix, managed to win this challenge with just six tries and won $10,000.

In the next ultimate challenge, MrBeast revealed a wall of basketball goals. For this one, participants had to make one basket to win one item from a pool of attractive prizes like the iPad, AirPods, Nintendo Switch, Macbook, and much more.

The participants were allowed to shoot as many times as they wanted, but would risk losing all the prizes if they failed to score in any attempt. Two brothers opted to compete in this challenge. The first one managed to score a basket and claimed a Macbook Pro. His brother then took a shot and also succeeded, thus claiming an Oculus Rift.

Unfortunately, the brother who won a Macbook decided to take another shot, for more prizes but failed to do so. As a result of that, he lost his prize along with his brothers Oculus as well.

Towards the end of the video, MrBeast is seen giving a challenge to his own crew members, namely Karl, Chris, and Chandler. He asks them to order a pizza from different stores. Whichever pizza is delivered first, were gonna tip that pizza delivery driver $10,000, said Jimmy in the clip.

At the end of the video, Chris order manages to reach earlier than Karl and Chandlers. And as promised, MrBeast gives a massive tip of $10,000 to the delivery guy. However, the pizza that Chris tastes in ends up being not-so-delicious at all. It was quite funny actually to witness the expressions on his face.

Some of the internet’s most homoerotic content is on The History Channel’s YouTube? – Queerty

Posted: at 9:04 am

Screenshot: Ancient Workouts With Omar, The History Channel

Last week, we alerted you to The History Channels upcoming event docuseries,Colosseum, a perhaps unintentionally sexy look at the age of gladiators filled with ancient Roman eye candy that had us setting our DVRs to the network for the first time in ever?

Well, because were so thirsty such big history buffs, that got us wondering what else HISTORY had to offer. It only took a quick Google search to find that the networks YouTube page is rife with content that, while not overtly queer, is definitely twinged with enough homoeroticism to please the casual internet browserwere talking hours and hours of footage of strapping men recreating ancient battles in frequently very little clothing.

Related: History buffs list their favorite facts about queerness through the ages

Of course, theres a lot of other stuff to sift through. In the past decade or so, HISTORY has gotten a lot of flak for straying away from actual history, and the YouTube channel reflects that with a mind-numbing amount of sensationalist video about aliens, conspiracies, and two dudes who like to dig through trash in search of priceless antiques (wait maybe that last ones a little gay?).

With that in mind, weve assembled a handy guide to only the gayest content available on HISTORYs YouTube. Check out the below and, who knows? Maybe youll learn something! Or maybe youll just watch them on mutethats fine too, we dont judge.

Were busting out the big guns to start: To our delight, theres a whole YouTubeseries dedicated to showing you how historic warriors from around the world managed to get so buff and so strong. From the gladiators to ninjas to Medieval knights, fitness influencer Omar Isuf walks viewers through training regimens from long ago thathonestly?look exhausting. Still, we dont mind tuning in to see Isur (in the words of Gaga) serve it ancient city style.

Now, if yourereallyinto muscleswere talking big, bulking bodies of steelyoull want to check out this classic episode ofModern Marvels from 2001, which the network has uploaded in full on its YouTube. In it, experts examine the world of professional bodybuilding, tracing our present-day Strong Men and Women all the way back to the Greeks and the early days of Olympics. Its 46 full minutes of vein-bulging brawn.

Thanks to high school history class and/or Disney, youre likely well aware of the legend of Hercules, the athletic demigod who went from zero to hero. Still, you might not mind hearing his story all over again via this Greek mythology series, which has the good sense to cast a bulky, square-jawed actor to play the titular hero in various re-enactments of his 12 Labours. Hes such a beefcake that you wont even mind the shoddy CGI Hydra Not that much, at least.

One of the networks rare forays into narrative dramatic television was the Norse action epic,Vikings, which ran for six full seasons between 2013-2020. We wish we could tell you if it wasnt any good, but we simply havent seen it! Thankfully, someone over at HISTORY was looking out for the gays, editing and uploading this 90-second supercut of shirtless scenes from the series second season, complete with a sexy, swinging 70s score. Hubba, hubba! Wait, should we actually go back and watch this show?

In 2018, HISTORY revived this long-running documentary series all about mysterious phenomena and the supernatural. Now, for those in search of skin,In Search Of pales in comparison to the content above, but it does boast the handsomeand gay!Zachary Quinto as its host (following in the footsteps of his Spock predecessor, Leonard Nimoy, who hosted from 77 82). We think the series could stand to include a lot more of Quintos handsome face, but if you get your kicks from watching the actor hunt down the lost city of Atlantis, then have at it!

And, if you were hoping for real queer history, were sorry to say that HISTORY offers very little on that front (at least compared to the hours and hours of Ancient Aliens they air). The most substantial piece we could find was this 4-minute summary of the Stonewall Riots, and a quick tribute to the legendary trans activist Marsha P Johnson, but weknow there are far more stories to tell. For instance, over on Discovery+, theres a whole series dedicated to some of the most important queer stories in history.

A Twitter test will remind you to add alt text to images – TechCrunch

Posted: at 9:04 am

In the midst of absolutely no internal chaos whatsoever, Twitters accessibility team launched a much-requested feature test. Ten percent of users, who make up the test group, will be served reminders to add image descriptions to their photo uploads.

Image descriptions, or alt text, are exactly what they sound like: descriptions of what appears in an image. Sometimes these descriptions appear when the image doesnt load, but more importantly, they offer context for people using screen readers, who might be blind or low-vision. Alt text helps make sure that everyone can be included in the conversation.

This test is designed to encourage more people to use alt text. If you have access to the feature, you can navigate to your accounts settings, click Accessibility, and then scroll to the Images header. There, you can turn on a reminder to prompt you to add alt text before sending a tweet with an image.

If you forget to add image descriptions, turning on the reminder will be a big favor to your future self. And to everyone on Twitter, the platform wrote. Actually, if everyone turns it on, everyone would be helping everyone.

In April, Twitter started rolling out features that make it more apparent when an image has alt text. Now, ALT badges appear in the bottom corner of photos, showing whether an image has alt text or not. When you click that button, you can view the image description.

But even the best-intentioned among us might forget to add image descriptions sometimes, so these reminders should come in handy. For users who dont know what alt text is or why it matters, these pop-ups might also serve an educational purpose.

Image descriptions are a simple way to expand info access to people with disabilities, and everyone who wants more context, Twitter explained.

In its announcement thread, Twitter references an ongoing discussion about the pitfalls of misused alt text sometimes, Twitter users will use alt text to hide easter eggs or jokes for anyone who might click the ALT badge. But using image descriptions in this way is confusing for users who actually need the alt text for context. When more tweeters use accessibility features as intended, though, it makes it more clear how to actually write good alt text.

Theres much debate around what constitutes well-written image descriptions. For example, if you see a photo of a woman eating salad, you probably dont need to know what color the bowl is, or whether the salad has croutons in it. Maybe its relevant to the context that shes mid-bite, or that shes staring angrily at the lettuce or maybe its not.

As NASA released the first images from the James Webb Space Telescope this week, some Twitter users pointed out how detailed NASAs image descriptions were. For something as complex, monumental and mind-blowing as a photograph of a galaxy cluster, their level of detail makes sense. But odds are, you wont meet Twitters 1,000 character limit for whatever youre uploading, assuming youre not on NASAs social team.

Twitter has also rolled out accessibility features like auto captions for videos over the last year. According to the platforms accessibility-focused account, the team is working on expanding live captioning on Spaces, closed captions customization, text-recognition for alt text and alt text for profile pictures.

Repairing an old thing is a small act of defiance against disposable culture – The Irish Times

Posted: at 9:04 am

We are putting away childish things. As once-small people hurtle through teenagerhood, the days of getting out poster paints and whiling away some time seem long lost. So, how about a repair session? Could everyone bring something to the table and sit down together and repair it? And children, I can trill like Mary Poppins, the thing that will set this apart from an especially dull 1970s day is that we can use my mobile telephone to tell the world about it.

The Repair Acts project may not have been dreamt up with parents in mind. But for those of us still scarred from the mass home (un)schooling, it is a gift. With the help of its website, a satisfying rainy day activity is at your fingertips.

Ours was a small event. The eldest was busy repairing the state of their room. Another project needed parts ordered online. So our impromptu repair cafe featured one lone child, one torn jacket, one slightly worse for wear Mandalorian mask, and a hot-glue gun.

Geographer Alma Clavin and artist Teresa Dillon have been holding repair events around Westmeath where Repair Acts, one of 16 climate-related Creative Ireland projects, is based. Im on the advisory board and am impressed with the projects scope. They are documenting a social history of repair in the county, and holding listening and storytelling workshops and events. There is a lot of emotion in repair stories. Things become precious and worth repairing because the people who once owned them are gone. Childhood memories are in touching distance, often sparked by objects the creak of the wicker lid on a grannys sewing kit. Who didnt love a button jar?

Back at our mini-event, our sewing kit was a lot more on the basic side. The child showed me how to do the blanket stitch. Ten minutes later, a picket fence of stitches fixed the rip. We called my project winter Ready. We called his one Cracks in the Mask. It was a microdose of contentment, some ducks fleetingly in a row.

Next Saturday, Repair Acts is hosting a DIY-with-Dave event with the Rediscovery Centre in Mullingar. Tickets are now available through Eventbrite and the Repair Acts website.

If you cant make it to Mullingar you can upload two pictures to the website (an adult needs to do this for younger peoples work). Imagine the potential of thousands of repair acts, small acts of defiance in the face of disposable culture. Hashtag #RepairActs to show your work on social media as well as uploading it to the website. Trust me. Its a bonding thing to do. #hotgluesummer here we come.

Warzone players slam the dumbest Perk in the history of CoD – CharlieINTEL.com

Posted: at 9:04 am

The Serpentine Perk was added to Warzone as a way of counteracting Sniper Rifles back in Season 3 Reloaded, but players have criticized how overpowered it is, calling it the dumbest Perk the series has ever had.

When the Serpentine Perk was added to Vanguard back in Season 3 Reloaded, players saw it as a welcome way to make fights more forgiving. The optional Perk reduced the damage of incoming bullets, explosives, and fire by 20%.

It eventually made its way over to Warzone and immediately started to frustrate players. Pretty quickly there were calls for Serpentine to be nerfed, especially after the health increase, with many feeling it was making the game too difficult.

Now, in Warzone Season 4, players have once again called out the Serpentine Perk for being too overpowered.

Reddit user beans-lol kickstarted the discussion again by uploading a clip that showed just how effective Serpentine is, even in situations that would normally spell certain death.

The video showed the OP spraying at an opponent with a mounted STG44, quickly laying waste to the opponents armor. Despite there being no cover nearby, and most of the shots hitting, the enemy was able to slip away thanks to the Serpentine Perk.

After they were left with no armor protection, each successful shot was met with the small snake marker which indicates that bullets are doing 20% less damage than usual. The wounded player was able to escape behind a building, leading the OP to call the Perk insane.

Players were quick to call out the Perk, with one reply saying: Thats the dumbest perk in the Hissssss-tory of cod. Meanwhile, another user compared the Perk to having an extra stash of health: We just call it their second health bar when we see that icon pop up.

Many seemed to support the idea of Serpentine but felt that the amount of damage it soaks up should be reduced: I wouldnt mind if it was 5-7 percent. 20 percent is ridiculous. Others believed that Assault Rifles should instead be given more recoil rather than using a Perk to make them less effective.

Well have to wait and see if Raven decides to nerf the Serpentine in a future update, but it certainly seems as though the community would like to see a change sooner rather than later.

With Season 4 Reloaded coming soon, perhaps the devs will use it as an opportunity to tweak the Perk.
