Jordan Peterson Quit Twitter Over Swimsuit Model Backlash

Posted: May 17, 2022 at 7:35 pm

Jordan Petersons whole thing is being the worst guy to be stuck in a conversation with at a party. If the right-wing professor isnt claiming that feminists have an unconscious wish for brutal male domination, hes giving an unwatchable two-and-a-half hour presentation on identity politics and the Marxist lie of white privilege. Petersons Twitter account, which has 2.7 million followers (and probably 2.1 million bots), is also a cesspool of bad takes, including one that led him to quit the social media platform.

In response to model Yumi Nu being on the cover of this years Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, along with Kim Kardashian, Maye Musk, and Ciara, Peterson tweeted, Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that. Peterson quickly became the Main Character of Twitter, with his Sorry. Not beautiful phrasing being paired with, well, have you seen Jordan Peterson looks like?

Im sorry in advance.

By Monday night, Peterson announced that he was leaving Twitter due to an endless flood of vicious insults. He continued, I like to follow the people I know but I think the incentive structure of the platform makes it intrinsically and dangerously insane. So I told my staff to change my password, to keep me from temptation, and am departing once again. If I have something to say Ill write an article or make a video. If the issue is not important enough to justify that then perhaps it would be best to just let it go.

If Peterson is doing the insulting, its fine. But when Peterson is the one being insulted, hes being attacked by the woke mob. He will not be missed.

Jordan Peterson Explains Why He’s Never Going Back on Twitter

Posted: at 7:35 pm

Canadian psychologist and professor Jordan Peterson announced Monday he was leaving Twitter once and for all.

He said there is a noticeable difference in his quality of life when he is on the social media platform compared to when hes away from it.

I recently stopped accessing Twitter for three weeks as an experiment, he tweeted. I had some of my staff post video links etc. It was a genuine relief. I started to read & write more. I started using it again, a few days ago, and I would say that my life got worse again almost instantly.

The bestselling author pointed to the steady stream of invective on the site.

The endless flood of vicious insult is really not something that can be experienced anywhere else, Peterson noted. I like to follow the people I know but I think the incentive structure of the platform makes it intrinsically and dangerously insane.

To keep him off of it for good, he told his staff to change his password.

If I have something to say I'll write an article or make a video, he noted. If the issue is not important enough to justify that then perhaps it would be best to just let it go.

Stay tuned to an article from him about this matter.

And I plan to write an article on the technical reasons that Twitter is maddening us all very soon, he concluded. Bye for now.

Peterson's exit comes after he received backlash for criticizing Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model Yumi Nu.

Responding to a story about the cover, Peterson wrote, "Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that.

Goodbye, Again, Jordan Peterson

Posted: at 7:35 pm

The weepy philosopher has quit Twitter more times than we can count

Using Twitter to complain about Twitter is the defining behavior of a committed user, and shows the system itself is operating at peak efficiency. The cranks who complain that the social network censors their free speech seem unaware of the irony that they trash the company day in and day out while suffering no discipline from its supposedly tyrannical leadership. To the contrary, they often reap engagement and clout on the very platform theyre raging against.

At a certain point, this anger burns itself out temporarily. The hater realizes it is actually something more like self-loathing, or self-harm. Then, at last, they announce a Twitter break.

Jordan Peterson, a hack guru of the intellectual dark web whose best-selling advice book is a lot of junk science about gender and his strained interpretations of the Bible, is always moaning about how bad Twitter is. He has railed against anonymous accounts as refuge for scoundrels and fiends, then lamented that he had to see posts from anyone unverified. He wondered if he would be banned for posting that vaccinated people can spread COVID-19. (He was not.) He shared a column by fellow grifter Bari Weiss predicting that Twitter will get way worse.

If you didnt know better, youd think his hiatus statement this week had something to do with this general consternation. Instead, it was the final gasp of indignation at the backlash he incited by declaring model Yumi Nu, featured on a cover of Sports Illustrated, not beautiful.

Peterson was so thoroughly and deservedly mocked for his horror at a womans thick thighs that he was forced to conclude, for the millionth time, that Twitter is irreparably broken. Whats the point of having nearly 3 million sycophantic followers if you cant slag off a gorgeous persons figure without getting roasted yourself for looking like a reanimated corpse? What is this world coming to? And so he shall take his leave. Or, as the sign-off has it, he is departing once again this phrase a comic admission that this grandiloquent exit is neither the first nor the last.

Cheap philosophers like Peterson are always quitting Twitter, denouncing it with smarm and faux profundity but forgetting to actually leave. In the hours after he claimed to have severed his access to the account, he tweeted at least a dozen times, more than once to share content from Libs of TikTok, an account that primarily exists to direct hate and harassment at LGBTQ people. He even promised to deliver an article on what else! all the reasons that Twitter sucks.

What really makes this doofus mad is that he believes he has the strength of character to walk away from a website, this kind of resolve being essential to his masculinist critique of weakness, yet he completely lacks any such control. Each time he comes crawling back to fight the trolls he says arent worthy of notice, he reconfirms that he has no business telling anyone else how to live. Perhaps if he achieved the zen of a seasoned shitposter, the Twitter addict who declares that theyll never log off because its a gloriously stupid public forum, hed be happier in his helplessness.

Until then, I guess we can keep expecting another goodbye.

Miles Klee is MELs resident tank-top dirtbag, shitposter and meme expert. Hes also the author of the novel Ivyland and a story collection, True False.

A controversial psychologist and best-selling author has sparked outrage after declaring a Sports Illustrated model "not beautiful".

Dr Jordan Peterson, 59, took to Twitter to shame plus-size model and musician Yumi Nu after she appeared on the magazine cover.

"Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that," he wrote to his 2.7 million followers.

The divisive figure's tweet sparked furious backlash.

"Sheesh. Big fan here. I find my girlfriend with a body type like this quite beautiful. Dial it back a bit homie," one man wrote.

"Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that," wrote another alongside a photo of Peterson.

"Why do men feel it's their duty to publicly pronounce their view on the attractiveness of women? Couldn't you just keep it to yourself?," added another woman.

The model featured on the cover did not seem fussed about the comments made by Peterson - who has made a name for himself by railing against everything from feminism to social justice warriors.

"Hoes mad [nail painting emoji] [calm smile emoji]," she wrote in a quote-retweet of Peterson's original tweet.

Peterson has a chequered history in both his private and public life, having developed a dependency on prescription medication and being admitted to rehab following his wife's cancer diagnosis.

He was thrust into the mainstream after a video of him arguing with students and refusing to refer to them as their chosen gender pronouns went viral online.

He leveraged his newfound fame by injecting himself into the Canadian debate over transgender rights.

His 2018 self-help book 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos - which encouraged readers to stand up straight, not bother children skateboarding and avoid petting stray cats - sold more than three million copies worldwide.

Dr Peterson has repeatedly been criticised for his old-fashioned views on women and accused of spreading misinformation.

He drew outrage after appearing to endorse government-forced monogamy, going as far to say it may have helped Canadian man Alek Minassian who killed 11 people in Toronto.

Minassian declared himself to be part of a misogynist group whose members call themselves incels - a term short for "involuntary celibates."

"He was angry at God because women were rejecting him," Peterson said. "The cure for that is enforced monogamy. That's actually why monogamy emerges."

The academic also spouts the benefits of the carnivore diet a method of only eating meat that was suggested to him by his daughter when he was unwell.

His daughter has no qualifications in regards to nutrition or dietetics but the family claim it helped Peterson recover from benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome.

Peterson also pushed against Covid-19 vaccines and restrictions in Canada, in one instance claiming the Canadian PM would have to kill him before getting a booster.

Thin-skinned Jordan Peterson is wrong about everything but right about Twitter – The Guardian

Posted: at 7:35 pm

Jordan Peterson is an academic, an internet personality, and a big fan of beef. A man of many accomplishments, hes most famous for writing a bestselling book called 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos while simultaneously living what can only be described as an incredibly chaotic life.

The latest Peterson drama comes to us via Twitter, which the academic has just dramatically announced he will be departing forever. Dont worry, hes not going to go quietly into that tweetless night; Peterson has promised us all a long article explaining his problems with the platform soon. For now, however, he wants us all to know that Twitter is a hellhole which makes your life infinitely worse.

The endless flood of vicious insult [sic] is really not something that can be experienced anywhere else, Peterson tweeted on Monday, If I have something to say Ill write an article or make a video. If the issue is not important enough to justify that then perhaps it would be best to just let it go.

He adds, I like to follow the people I know but I think the incentive structure of the platform makes it intrinsically and dangerously insane.

I may not agree with Peterson on much but hes spot on there. And I, for one, am really glad that the man once described in the New York Times as the most influential public intellectual in the Western world, has finally discovered what everyone else has been banging on about for years. Women and marginalized people, in particular, have been sounding the alarm about how Twitter, along with other social media platforms, ignores violence and abuse on the platform. They have been sounding the alarm about the intrinsically dangerous incentive structures of social media platforms, which prioritize engagement above everything else. But, you know, nothing in life is really important until a rich white guy starts paying attention.

What made Peterson turn on Twitter? (Which by the way, he doesnt seem to have actually left yet.) Its not entirely clear but it seems that hes upset that some people criticized him on Monday after he tweeted a picture of Yumi Nu on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition with the caption: Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that. The most influential public intellectual in the western world, ladies and gentleman! We are blessed that he takes time out from intellectual-ing to share his lofty thoughts on womens bodies. If Twitter had been around during the age of enlightenment wed presumably have had Immanuel Kant furiously leaning over his keyboard typing: the Queen of Prussia is NOT hot. Sorry. Dont critique my reasoning.

One rule for public life in the modern age certainly one that every woman in the public eye has discovered is that you have to develop a very thick skin. Petersons, however, seems to be like tissue paper. Todays Twitter meltdown isnt the first time he has reacted very badly to criticism. There was the infamous time, for example, when the Indian essayist Pankaj Mishra accused Peterson of peddling fascist mysticism. Peterson, in turn, called Mishra an arrogant, racist son of a bitch and proclaimed: If you were in my room at the moment, Id slap you happily.

And lets not forget when Peterson took extreme offence at an interview by Decca Aitkenhead in the Sunday Times and immediately cancelled all other media appearances. I do not think that it is mere thin-skinned sensitivity on my part to believe that I would have fared no worse had I discussed my affairs with an avowed enemy, Peterson wrote on his blog.

What makes Petersons aversion to criticism extra hilarious is that one of the rules in his famous book is Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world. Petersons own house, alas, is a complete mess. The man is a self-proclaimed free speech warrior who has made a living arguing that people should be able to say whatever the hell they like and offend whoever they like. Snowflakes be damned! But when people use their freedom of speech to criticize him? Thats a step too far! Like every prominent person who likes developing rules for other people to live by, Peterson doesnt seem to think they apply to him.

Jordan Peterson Tells Graduates Faith ‘Is a Form of Courage, ‘Warns Them of the ‘Devil at the Crossroads’ – CBN.com

Posted: at 7:35 pm

Famed clinical psychologist and two-time author Dr. Jordan Peterson warned the graduates of Hillsdale College in Michigan on Saturday about the devil at the crossroads during his countercultural commencement address.

After thunderous and sustained applause, Peterson told the graduating class they are at a crossroads in life.

Listen to the latest episode of the Faithwire podcast:

A crossroads the metaphor works because you make a decision, he said. You go one direction or another. Theres an old blues idea that you meet the devil at the crossroads. I always wondered why that was I found it true. Its a really compelling idea. Its an image that has a good narrative fit, and it sticks in your memory once you hear it.

Its milestones like graduation, the 59-year-old mused, where people are forced to examine their consciences.

Why do you meet the devil at the crossroads? he asked rhetorically. And the answer is, most fundamentally, because when you come to a place in your life where you have to make a choice you aim up or down. And there is always an agent of temptation at every choice point, enticing you to aim down.

Peterson then turned to Scripture to explain how sin which he defined as missing the mark factors into the crossroads that punctuate people's lives.

To paint a word picture of aiming down, he referenced the biblical story of Cain and Abel. Cains sacrifices, he said, were not everything that they could be and not in the service of the highest good. He added that, when people make insufficient sacrifices, we believe in the deepest part of ourselves that weve pulled one over God.

Peterson noted the English word sin found throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible comes from the Hebrew word khata, which is roughly translated as to fail or to miss the goal.

It implies that it has something to do with aim or the lack thereof, explained Peterson. I love that. Theres a variety of ways you can miss the mark, right? Dont aim at all thats a good one. Assume there is no such thing as aim. Assume all aims are equal.

Run From Pridefulness

One of the biggest obstacles that cause people to miss the mark repeatedly, he said, is pride.

Again, Peterson turned to Scripture, this time referencing the story of the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11, when, after the Flood, Noahs descendantswere overcome with prideand sought to build a structure to reach the heavens, failing to follow the Lords commandment to fill the earth (Genesis 1:28).

Its a continual temptation for human beings to build complex organizations that get too high, said Peterson. So what does that mean? How about too many layers? Not local enough, not distributed enough, right? Too separate from the people that they serve. Its also a Luciferian story. Lucifer is this spirit of intellect the light-bringer whos flown too high and challenges God Himself, and falls. Its a symbol of prideful intellect. And it is the prideful intellect that raises itself up against what is most properly placed at the highest place which is what God is.

Im very opposed to the idea that the fundamental human motivation is power which is pretty much what every student is taught at every level of their education, in every educational institution except a handful across your country, he continued. Its such a dismal philosophy. You could not formulate a more pathological philosophy. It obliterates your faith in society, and it eradicates the notion of the individual. It removes the notion of good faith and goodwill, and it makes communication impossible.

Rather than allowing arrogance to disturb ones aim, Peterson told the graduates they should see the pursuit of what is right and good as practical.

By practicing any good in any rigorous sense, and making the proper sacrifices in that direction, you simultaneously learn to approach the good that is the sum or the essence of all those proximal goods, he told them. The essential insistence in Christianity is that the good that unites all those goods is the same good thats reflected in the image of Christ, which is an image of acceptance of the suffering of life, and the necessity of serving the lowest as the highest calling.

The truth of Jesus, he added might be more true than anything else.

Faith Is Courageous

In what is certainly a countercultural message, Peterson a great intellect in his own right esteemed the graduates to disabuse themselves of the secular suggestion that having faith means abandoning logic and reason.

The world will tell people faith is a form of weakness because it implies an unwillingness to contend with that which cannot be explained, the difficult and dark corners of life. Peterson, however, told the Hillsdale students he doesnt believe that is the case.

One of the things Ive thought a lot about in relationship to faith we have this idea, and its not a good idea, and its certainly an idea for which religious people are often pilloried that faith means the sacrifice of reason and the willingness to believe things that are patently not true, he said. [I] dont think thats what faith is at all in some fundamental sense. I think faith is a form of courage.

If youre hurt by life and you will be its understandable that you might react in a nihilistic and hopeless fashion, the psychologist continued. [A]nd I think part of what helps you through that is faith. And part of that faith is that its incumbent on you to maintain faith in the fundamental goodness of existence, including your own, despite the evidence to the contrary.

When one faces trials, Peterson said he or she ought not to give in to despair. Instead, those staring down a difficult crossroads should rise up in courage and see if you can resist going down the wrong path.

Its better for you, and its better for the people around you, he said.

Poilievre says he wants to ‘curtail’ Emergencies Act to prevent it from being used again for ‘political purposes’ – National Post

During a conversation with Jordan Peterson, Poilievre accused Trudeau of invoking the act because he was 'angry' about being personally targeted by Freedom Convoy protesters

Publishing date:

Conservative leadership hopeful Pierre Poilievre says he is consulting with legal experts to find a way to curtail the federal Emergencies Act to prevent it from being used for political purposes like during the Freedom Convoy protests in Ottawa.

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

Im consulting with legal scholars on how we can curtail the power and limit the use of the Emergencies Act in the future, Poilievre said during an hour-and-a-half conversation with media personality and former University of Toronto professor Jordan Peterson uploaded to social media Monday.

But I do think we need to craft changes to the act that will prevent it from being abused for political purposes like this again, he added.

Poilievre was referring to how the Justin Trudeau Liberals controversially invoked the Emergencies Act in February, granting government and police forces new and exceptional powers to quash the Freedom Convoy blockades that closed down some U.S. border crossings and clogged the streets of downtown Ottawa for weeks.

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

The Act namely allowed police to force tow truck operators to move against blockading vehicles, but also gave government the ability to freeze financial accounts tied to convoy participants.

The act was revoked nine days later after a three-day police operation cleared the streets of Ottawa and led to hundreds of arrests. The citys police chief repeatedly said the protests were illegal and amounted to a siege of the national capital.

The Liberals have since argued they had no choice but to invoke the powers to put an end to the blockades, which they say were crippling the economy to the tune of $390 million per day in lost trade.

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

But critics, including civil liberties groups, experts and opposition parties such as the Conservatives, have accused the Liberals of overstepping the boundary and wielding excessive force by invoking the act.

During the conversation with Peterson, Poilievre accused Trudeau of invoking the act because he was angry about being personally targeted by the protesters and wanted to avoid facing the political consequences of a democratic protest.

He also wanted to be as malicious as possible to deter any similar protests, Poilievre said.

The Conservative MP did not detail how an eventual Poilievre government would curtail the Emergencies Act, but he insisted that it had to be done carefully because he did see a purpose for those powers in certain extreme cases.

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

I want to be very careful though in how I do it because, you know, this is an incredibly blunt instrument. But in times of war for foreign attack or something like that, you can understand why there might be an occasion where these powers might be needed, he told Peterson.

You would think that it would be used in a case where there was a foreign invasion, or a monstrous terrorist attack, or something of that magnitude, he also said.

That was far from Poilievres only attack on Trudeau and his government during the wide-ranging interview that covered issues like freedom, media funding,

Poilievre called Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault a total nut that is bonkers, accusing him of being against nuclear energy as well as oil and gas.

This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

When asked by Peterson what he thought about the prime minister, Poilievre immediately called Trudeau an egomaniac who takes power away from individuals or families and instead gives it to the government.

He also likened Trudeau to French king Louis XIV, who ruled for over 70 years and was known for his lust for power.

I think hes an egomaniac, and I think everything he does comes back to his egomania, Poilievre said. If you really think about his expansionistic role of the State, it never comes back to serving an individual objective other than to make him more powerful or his legacy more grand.

He believes the State has to be everywhere always. Thats because, as King Louis would say, Ltat cest moi, he added. The State is him.

Greg Gutfeld: The parodies we’ve created are now real – Fox News

Posted: at 7:35 pm

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

This will make your blood boil if you have any blood left after it shoots out of your eyeballs. This is an unbelievable story, yet somehow believable these days from the New York Post.

Wisconsin school district has filed sexual harassment complaints against three middle schoolers for calling a classmate by a wrong pronoun. I know, I know. How are these kids supposed to even know what a pronoun is when they're too busy being taught about how racist they are? Priorities, people.

This isn't some loony left-wing city on either left coast. This is a school district in Kyle, Wisconsin, a city of just 3,600 people. Talk about small. Larry Kudlow could fit that many people in his steam room and he's tried. Have you got a court date for that yet, Larry?

Anyway, apparently school administrators charged three eighth-graders from the Kiel Middle School with sexual harassment after an incident in April where these kids refused to use "they" to refer to a classmate who'd switched pronouns a month before the so-called incident.

I'll say it before and I'll say it again. The only time you should refer to one person as "they" is if they are over 400 pounds, as in they love pancakes, or they are blocking the fire exit.

One of the accused kids mom or "birthing person" to Democrats gives us the scoop.

MOM OF ACCUSED CHILD:I received a phone call from the principal over at the elementary school forewarning me, letting me know that I was going to be receiving an email with sexual harassment allegations against my son.

He said he's being allegedly charged with sexual harassment for not using proper pronouns. I thought it wasn't real. I thought, this has got to be a gag, a joke.

You and me both. But her son Braden was indeed charged. And with what? Having a low tolerance for BS? But this feels to me made up because it's so on the nose in terms of fulfilling our own criticisms of wokeness.

It's like the government sending out free crack pipes after I already paid full price. But it's real. I guess that's the world we live in where the parodies we created months ago are now suddenly real. In other words, the far left is so insane, they're now predictable.

Remember, it was five years ago that Jordan Peterson, an obscure Canadian professor, was threatened with punishment at his college for not adhering to new pronoun guidelines. He refused to comply and when people heard his story, he became a hero, which is easy to be in Canada, where your only options for hero are Peterson and a freak in blackface. And he predicted that rejecting compulsory pronouns would end up becoming a crime. People laughed at him, mainly because he was right.

Meanwhile, here's a guy from Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty who's defending the accused students claiming that misuse of pronouns is not covered by Title IX.

LUKE BERG:Title IX sexual harassment typically covers things like rape, dating violence, quid pro quo sexual favors, right? Really egregious stuff. There's nothing even remotely close to that alleged in this case.

The charge against students for sexual harassment is an extreme abuse of the Title IX process. It's totally inappropriate and is totally being mishandled by the school district.

Totally. Very informative tape there. Were almost like a news program. Almost. Now the district sees the refusal of a student to use pronouns as a form of bullying, and the district prohibits all forms of bullying and harassment. All forms of bullying. Isnt forcing students to say what they don't believe a form of bullying? Let me save you from some unnecessary internal mental debate and tell you the answer is yes.

Of course, if the alleged victim student had been teased, then the schoolteachers or principal should address it. But not with charges of sexual harassment, which could destroy reputations. That's kind of out of proportion. Like swatting a fly with Joy Behar.

It shows you why so many parents around the country are freaking out now. Not only do they have to worry about CRT or drugs and social media, they've got to worry about some leftist, a-hole school administrator canceling the kid's reputation before he or she is old enough to have one.

Parents, you're now called homophobic if you don't want gender obsessed activists teaching your kids about "they" and "them." You're called domestic terrorists. If you openly question school lockdowns, mask mandates, or the brainwash called CRT.

Yes, parents are terrorists, although the only way they blow themselves up is with a high carb diet. And parents are now told you're a bigot if you feel it's inappropriate having drag queens do storytime in class. And I agree. Keep that crap out of the schools and where it belongs, my house on a Saturday night. Look, I don't have kids. They smell. But I am so pissed I'm thinking about adopting.

But just imagine when it moves beyond the classroom.

STAFFER 1:Hi. Yes, I'd like to speak to Deborah about her extended warranty.

STAFFER 2:Her?My pronouns are dirt and bag.

STAFFER 1:Oh. Well, anyway, I'm calling about your 1996 Geo Prism.

STAFFER 2:Oh, my car identifies as a volt as in "revolt."

STAFFER 1:Oh. Are you having trouble with your electrical system?

STAFFER 2:**** the system.

STAFFER 1:Oh, okay. Well, anyway, our warranty comes with a free tire iron and jack and those come in handy.

STAFFER 2:Handy? You ableist bastard. Also, it's not a car jack. It's a car jill.

STAFFER 1:Okay. Thanks for your time, sir.

Apparently they like dirt bag better than they like Kat.

So we'll keep an eye on this story. Maybe the charges will get dismissed. Maybe it'll turn out there's more to it than meets the eye.

One thing is for sure, just because it sounds absurd doesn't make it false. In today's world, it's the absurd that is now the norm. No wonder parents are pissed, but don't wonder aloud, or Merrick Garland will investigate you with the Patriot Act.

Ellen DeGeneres net worth revealed as star bids goodbye to the show – HITC – Football, Gaming, Movies, TV, Music

Posted: at 7:35 pm

The final episode of the Ellen DeGeneres show aired on May 17. With time, the show has managed to grow its following while also increasing the stars net worth.

Ellen has been vocal about her decision to end the show after 19 seasons. On May 17, the last episode of the show aired and only the memories of it have been left behind.

During the final few episodes, Ellen made a show she welcomed her favorite guests and allowed the audience to have a bit of fun.

As per Celebrity Net Worth, Ellen has an estimated net worth of $500 million. The outlet further notes that the actress has around $75 million as her salary.

Before becoming a daytime talk show host, Ellen had been working as a standup comedian. The reality star had also done odd jobs before she gained popularity.

As per the outlet, she was named the Funniest Person in America in 1984. Following this, she was offered small roles in various shows. However, her life completely changed in 1992 when she got a role in ABCs These Friends of Mine. The shows name was later changed to Ellen.

After the huge success of the show, Ellen landed her own talk show. The television host managed to impress everyone with her charming personality.

Justin Timberlake and Keith Urban were invited for the last episode of the show. Along with the duo, some of Ellens friends who have also been guests on the show shared a special message for her as the host bid goodbye to the show.

One of them had been Kevin Hart. Kevin reminded Ellen about all the fun times they had on the set and even revealed he had sent her a blanket along with a lifetime supply of chicken soup.

The next person to send a farewell message to Ellen was David Spade. The actor looked back at the time when Ellen scared him on the show. While he admitted they still gave him nightmares, David wished Ellen good luck in the future.

Lastly, Chelsea Handler came forward with a special message. She asked the television host to go have fun after running the show for 19 seasons.

Ellen admitted she was ending the show because she thought it was the right time to do so.

In one of her episodes, she said: The truth is, I always trust my instincts. My instinct told me its time. Two years ago, I signed a deal for three more years and I always knew in my heart that season 19 would be my last. I want you to know that Ive thought a lot about this decision. I sat with it for a while. I meditated on it.

LAWRENCE Among the changes made by Kansas football coach Lance Leipold to the Jayhawks staff of defensive assistants afterthe 2021 season, Jordan Peterson returned to an on-field role with the program.

Peterson, an analyst last season, is now the defensive backs coach. The cornerbacks are his responsibility, but as Leipold saidThursday in a Hawk Talk appearance, Peterson will work with defensive coordinator Brian Borland with the defensive backs as a whole. And after the whirlwind experience that happeneda year ago, after embracing a chance to remain in Lawrence with Leipold during Leipolds first season at the helm, Peterson is excited to be where he is.

A lot of personalities in that room, said Peterson, speaking Thursday with reporters about the cornerbacks specifically. It kind of runs the gamut, as far as some guys are really, really quiet. Some guys, not so much. But they have one thing in common:They all really love football. And obviously theres different coaching styles and things that theyve got to get accustomed to, but Im really excited about the progress that that young groups made so far this spring.

Here are a few things to think about with Kansas cornerbacks room, based on what's happened during spring ball through Thursdays practice, assummer approaches:

Redshirt junior cornerback Kalon Gervin was one of a number of transfers brought in after this past season ended, and onewhose effect on the secondary could be immediate. He joined the Jayhawks from Michigan State. And according to Peterson, Gervin was impressive from the first conversation the two shared.

Peterson said that as a staff they looked to the transfer portal for the position because they wanted to add maturity and leadership, and that Gervin has embraced that role and tried to earn the necessary respect from his teammates. Peterson described Gervin as a young man who has a quiet confidence and a quality demeanor, who understands scheme. Peterson said there are younger players in the room who have untapped talent, and Gervin adds an element that pushes them to improve.

(Gervin)s competed at a high level before, started a lot of games, Peterson said. … He kind of started behind the eight-ball just from a verbiage standpoint, trying to learn the defense and just trying to teach him multiple positions at corner and then again at our cinco/nickel positions in the slot. So, again, hes a guy that loves football. So, hes kind of putting the work in, and from a body-position and a body-type standpoint, hes really, really good. Really mature.

Gervin saidhe feels he has the playbook down now, and looking ahead will just try to improve his game holistically. Hes enjoyed building relationships with teammates and members of the staff. There have been challenges adjusting, of course, but hes accepted those challenges.

There are a number of players whove stood out at cornerback, both to Gervin and Peterson.

For Gervin, that would be sophomores CamRon Dabney and Jacobee Bryant. Gervin considers both playmakers, and guys who arent hesitant like younger players sometimes can be.

For Peterson, everyones flashed their potential at times and redshirt sophomore RaMello Dotson has been the most consistent among those who returned. Peterson said Dotson leads by example, and has made tremendous strides with press technique and other things theyve asked him to be more consistent in.

So, are those the cornerbacks who have been receiving the most reps with the starters?

At corner, weve really tried to cycle that through, Peterson said. At safety its been (sophomore) O.J. (Burroughs) and (senior) Kenny (Logan Jr.), primarily, with (sophomore Edwin White-Schultz) coming in there and rotating with those guys. So, its kind of been a three-man rotation there.

"But at corner, especially with us playing those guys at cinco and other positions as well, I dont want them to ever feel comfortable just listening to one voice. So, all spring … theyve been cycling through whos with the 1s, whos with the 2s, whos with the 3s.

Peterson said the aim was to use the spring to push guys to their limit to see who can handle what. He wants them to perfect their craft, no matter whos on the field with them. As he points out, theres no telling what can happen during a season.

Peterson is striving for more consistency with his current players, when it comes to their mental fortitude. He sees them learning the defense, and is looking for better technique. Looking back at last season, according to Peterson, some of the mistakes that made guys look like they got beat on plays were really due to mental lapses such as understanding where their help was.

On the recruiting trail, Petersons No. 1 goal is to analyze a prospects mentality. When it comes to physical traits, hes pointing to speed, ability to change direction, ball skills and an eager will totackle. And while the further they get into recruiting someone the more positional-based that recruiting can get, he does have specific areas of focus.

Ill have north Houston, Peterson said. Ill bleed over to east Texas and some of my connections closer into central Texas. My regional area is southeast Kansas City … and then I have Phoenix, and kind of the greater Phoenix area.
