Television pilot series UN$UITED will soon begin filming in several locations throughout South Jersey.

The casino-themed comedy series, starring Dan Lauria, Tony Denison, Carmine Giovinazzo and Woodbridge native Ronnie Marmo, tells the story of Greg Mucha, a young man who becomes a professional poker in lieu of accepting his inheritance.

When I first read the script I almost fell out of the chair laughing," Marmo said.

"Ive worked with Tom in the past and am excited to get to do it again! The cherry on top is to get to shoot in and around Woodbridge Township. Its a dream come true for me to come back home and get to work around the area I grew up in with people I love.

Produced by New Jersey-based company624 Productions LLC, the majority of the pilots filming will take place inMonmouth County, Middlesex County, Mercer County and Atlantic City with a final filming location in Las Vegas.

The filming is set to begin in late summer.

Having ascended to governor-in-waiting status, Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul is pondering how to separate herself from state decisions affecting her husbands employer, a casino operator.

William Hochul is general counsel and senior vice president at Delaware North, a Buffalo-based casino and hospitality company that has much at stake in Albany. Kathy Hochuls team is already mentioning a recusal process for matters related to the business, according to The Daily Beast.

The recusal process will be set up before the new governor takes over from Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who yesterday announced he would resign in two weeks. Details on what that process would be remain unknown.

As governor, Hochul will have immense power over New Yorks casino industry. She will control the states Gaming Commission, giving her the authority to approve sales and acquisitions of state betting facilities. She will also control the Thruway Authority and the Office of Parks and Recreation, which between them have almost $50 million worth of contracts with Delaware North that will expire during Hochuls tenure, the Daily Beast reported.

Ethics watchdogs are already on high alert for any conflicts that may emerge during the next governorship. Some already perceive favorable treatment of Delaware North from the outgoing governor, stemming from battles Cuomo waged with the Seneca Nation, including now-scuttled plans to build a lodge on Goat Island, according to the publication.

Hochul has conflict with husbands casino company - The Real Deal

BATON ROUGE - Shovels dig into the future of gaming in Baton Rouge.

The Hollywood Casino is the first in Baton Rouge to take advantage of a law allowing a riverboat operation to move onto land.

"This is the right thing to do. And this is going to benefit the city of Baton Rouge tremendously. It'll benefit the state of Louisiana as far as increase revenue from the tax base. So, more employment. We're excited. It's a great day for Baton Rouge," Ronnie Johns said, Chairman of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

A few hundred new jobs will be available for people to not just build the casino, but also work there once renovations are complete.

Come late 2022, the parking lot next to Hollywood Casino will have a whole new facelift. With a starting budget of $60 million, the new casino will feature slots, sports betting and new restaurants.

"We're going to put in a big sports bar. 'Big Chicken," that's Shaquille O'Neal's restaurant, that's going to be in here. That's what most of our guests are asking, they want to see a celebrity start walking around the property. And then, the boat is going to be sold and viking river cruises are going to start coming up," said Aaron Mollura, Vice President of marketing at the Hollywood Casino in Baton Rouge.

The law changed about three years ago, and it's taken since 2018 to get everything worked out to move the gaming operation from the riverboat, which state regulators say is a safe move.

"The fact that these riverboats are out on the Mississippi River, Hollywood and the Belle, there's just a lot of safety factors out there. The ships coming in, the barged on the river, a storm. You never know what's going to happen," said Johns.

Hollywood is the second casino project to hop on board, following behind the Isle of Capri in Lake Charles, which has already begun working on its land-based casino.

"They're ahead of the game of what Hollywood is doing here but, they're going to be the very first in the state to take advantage of that legislation," said Johns.

After this ground breaking, construction's supposed to wrap up in about a year.

Hollywood Casino breaks ground on new expansion project - WBRZ

Presque Isle Downs and Casino is hosting its first T-Rex Night at the Races to raise money for a non-profit organization.

Thursday night, between the 4th and 5th race, T-Rexs will head to the starting line, and a child could win a prize for picking the winner.

The event is in honor of Arienne Cox a jockey who was severely injured during a race last September.

Money raised will go to Canter PA a non profit dedicated to rehoming retired racehorses from Pennsylvania.

When they get here, we will hand them Little handouts for them that have all the T-Rex names and the colors and the numbers, said Erin Wienczkowski, marketing coordinator for Presque Isle Downs. They will stop at a promo desk and pick up one of these. Well also have little cards for them with numbers, so they coordinate with the color too.

Smileys Ice Cream truck and CheesErie food truck will be on site, serving sweet treats and delicious food all evening.

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) A new casino is opening in the City of York, and Sunday was their soft opening and fundraiser to benefit our veterans.

The new Hollywood Casino hosted an invitation-only event with most attendees being veterans. Visitors got a chance to take table gaming and proceeds from the slot machines went to several charities in the region, including the York County Food Bank and veterans outreach efforts.

They are the foundation of York and they provide so much benefit to the community here and we wanted to latch on to that as we open the new facility and being part of giving back to the local community in York, Manager Ruben Warren said.

Hollywood Casino York, located in the York Galleria Mall, also has live sports betting, about 500 slot machines and 24 table games, as well as food options for the public to enjoy when it opens on August 12.

New casino in York County hosts soft opening to benefit veterans - ABC27

Rhode Island-based Ballys Corp. has built name recognition through its recent launch of Bally Sports, company executives said Monday. Now the gaming company is moving on to its brick-and-mortar casinos.

In the next 12 months, all of our casinos other than Hard Rock Biloxi will be rebranded to Ballys, increasing the awareness of our brand and providing the company opportunities to send local customers to our destination casinos, as well as a national player database and incentive program, Ballys President and CEO George Papanier told investors on a Monday morning earnings call.

Whether that includes Tropicana Las Vegas, which Ballys has a pending deal to buy, is unclear.

A Ballys spokesperson said Monday afternoon that no decision has yet been made on rebranding the property. Ballys will operate the property under a deal with Tropicanas landlord, real estate investment trust Gaming and Leisure Properties, that is expected to close early next year.

Were excited about the longer-term potential and across market opportunities we have and will provide incremental information once we acquire the property, Papanier said Monday.

Ballys, which bought the brand from Caesars Entertainment Inc. but is unaffiliated with the Strip casino of the same name, generated its highest quarterly revenue total in company history during the quarter spanning April to June, the company reported.

Its $267.7 million in revenues surpassed the $28.9 million during the same period last year. The company attributed the $238.8 million year-over-year increase to reduced COVID-19 restrictions as all of its properties were operating at full capacity by the end of the quarter.

Net income for the quarter was $68.9 million, as opposed to a net loss of $23.6 million last year, the company reported.

Ballys continues to expand its portfolio of internet gaming, land-based casinos and sports betting through its omni-channel strategy, Chief Financial Officer Steve Capp said on the earnings call.

The company added three more casinos to its expanding portfolio during the second financial quarter including Ballys Lake Tahoe, formerly MontBleu Resort Casino. The company will operate 16 casinos across 11 states upon completion of the Tropicana sale and construction of a ground-up casino project in State College, Pennsylvania.

The company closed on a deal to buy Bet.Works on June 1 and changed the name to Ballys Interactive. Ballys also expects to acquire U.K.-based software and gaming tech company Gamesys Group at the end of the year, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Shares of Ballys Corp., traded as $BALY on the New York Stock Exchange, opened at $49.72 and closed at $53.22 on Monday.

Gaming company pushing forward to rebrand casinos with Ballys name - Las Vegas Review-Journal

Detroit's three casinos netted $116.9 million in aggregate revenue in July, the Michigan Gaming Control Board reported Tuesday.

That represents a 9.3% increase over June's results. There's no way to compare with July 2020, as the casinos were closed the entire month due to COVID-19 health restrictions, but the results came in slightly below July 2019's $119 million total.

Out of that total, table games and slots generated $115.7 million in revenue while retail sports betting generated $1.2 million, according to the MGCB.

For the month, MGM Grand Detroit reported revenue of $53.8 million, while MotorCity Casino Hotel reported $38.5 million and Greektown Casino reported $23.4 million. MGM Grand had the largest market share of 46% while Motor City trailed with 34% and Greektown came in at 20%.

Collectively, the casinos paid $9.4 million in gaming taxes to the state for July and submitted $13.8 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the city.

The casinos reported total gross sports betting receipts of $1,211,857 and total handle, or the amount wagered, of nearly $18.3 million.

MGM reported $136,948 in retail sports betting revenues for the month. Motor City led with revenues of $637,681. And Greektown reported receipts totaling $437,203.

Thecasinos paid $45,807 to the stateand $55,987 to the city in retail sports betting taxes.

The state reports revenues tied to online gaming and sports betting separately.

The results were released as the American Gaming Association, a national trade group representing the casino industry, reported a new quarterly revenue record.

U.S. commercial gaming revenue reached $13.6 billion through the first six months of the year, the AGA reported, surpassing the previous record of $11.1 billion reached in the third quarter of 2019 and the first quarter of 2021.

Already, the trade group said, 2021's nearly $24.8 billion in revenue is close to surpassing 2020's full-year revenue of $30 billion and is on track to surpass 2019 as the highest-grossing year ever for commercial gaming revenue.
