MTLEY CRE Plots Another U.S. Tour In 2024, Possible Third Las Vegas Residency – BLABBERMOUTH.NET
Posted: September 11, 2022 at 1:27 pm
MTLEY CRE played the final show of the 2022 leg of "The Stadium Tour" Friday night (September 9) at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. But singer Vince Neil said MTLEY CRE will continue touring internationally with DEF LEPPARD in 2023, through Mexico and South America in the spring and soccer stadiums in Europe next summer. Plans are for MTLEY CRE to return to U.S. for more shows in 2024.
"We're far from being over," Neil told John Katsilometes of the Las Vegas Review-Journal in an interview that was conducted on Thursday (September 8). "When we come back in '24, we're going to do it all over again."
Neil also confirmed that there are talks of CRE returning for a third residency in Vegas, where they previously played a series of shows at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in 2012 and again in 2013.
"We have definitely talked about doing it, and everybody loves to do the residencies, so I say, 'Yeah, we're gonna do it,'" Neil said. "We just have to look at sometime in '24, to be back in Vegas. But we will be back."
Vince went on to say that CRE is focusing on playing shows, with no plans to return to the studio.
"We are strictly a touring band," he said. "When you see this show at Allegiant, youll see why. You're going to see something thats unbelievable, lights and lasers, three dancers. There are a lot of cool special effects, and a cool band putting on a rock show."
On Saturday (September 10),MTLEY CRE shared a message on social media thanking fans for their support and saying that the bandmembers were "excited about the future".
"Nothing as big as this comes from any one person alone," the group wrote. "Yes, you see us onstage and sometimes it seems as if it's all about us but its really not. It's about you the fans and who makes that happen? Its a whole massive team. Hundreds of people behind the scenes everyday day and night. Every single element that you see was worked on for months and months.
"Our production team and crew are top of the top. Every light, every laser move, video content, video crew, bus and truck drivers, background dancers and choreographers, audio team, video team, back line team, programming, wardrobe, security, tour managers, agents and management.
"For now we take a final bow for these US and Canadian shows. Everybody is tired and yet excited about the future #TheFutureIsOurs
"SEE YOU IN FEBRUARY.
"special thanks to @defleppard for being the most bad ass tour partners and @poison @joanjett and @classlessact for support on the tour. Extra kick ass thank you to @samshapiromedia for documenting this tour."
"The Stadium Tour" kicked off on June 16 in Atlanta, Georgia.
CRE's long-delayed North American trek was originally planned for 2020 and later moved to 2021 and then to 2022.
Three months ago, DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen told Chile's Radio Futuro that there are plans to bring the tour with MTLEY CRE to other parts of the world. "Definitely next summer is gonna be Europe," he said. "And then South America, Australia [and] Japan next year, hopefully at some point, we'll be playing all of those markets."
When asked to clarify that the same package that is touring the U.S. will be hitting all the other markets as well, Phil said: "That's what they're talking about. Obviously, I can say, 'Yeah, let's do that,' but we've gotta ask them as well. But I think MTLEY CRE have signed up. So hopefully that's all gonna come, and Joan Jett and POISON. That would be amazing."
Last month, "The Stadium Tour" landed at No. 4 on Pollstar's LIVE75 chart, which ranks worldwide active tours by the average tickets sold for reported shows taken place over the previous 30 days. According to Pollstar, "The Stadium Tour" moved 98.5% of the available tickets from concerts at 17 venues in North American cities to average 36,763 sold seats per show. The bands also earned a $4.88 million gross average.
"The Stadium Tour" marked the CRE's first live dates since wrapping its 2014/2015 farewell tour. CRE toured with POISON back in 2011 and DEF LEPPARD teamed up with POISON for a string of road dates in 2017, but this jaunt was the first time all four acts hit the road together for an extended tour.
CRE fans who shelled out for the band's 2014/2015 "farewell" tour were led to believe that the group would never return after playing its final show on December 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The band touted the signing of a pre-tour "cessation of touring" agreement as cementing the fact it truly was the end of CRE's life on the road.
In a 2013 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, CRE bassist Nikki Sixx said "the most important thing about a farewell tour is that the band doesn't lie to the fans, and the band doesn't tour and then come back years later. That's what's important for us, planning what's the right time to go out."
Three years ago, Sixx said that the Netflix biopic "The Dirt", about MTLEY CRE's formative years, sparked a renewed interest from younger fans who wanted to see them live, contributing to the band's decision to renege on its infamous "cessation of touring" contract.
MTLEY CRE recorded four new songs for its 2019 soundtrack to "The Dirt", the single "The Dirt (Est. 1981) (feat. Machine Gun Kelly)", "Ride With The Devil", "Crash And Burn" and the band's own spin on Madonna's "Like A Virgin".
CRE's last full-length collection of new material, "Saints Of Los Angeles", came out in 2008.
Nothing as big as this comes from any one person alone.Yes, you see us onstage and sometimes it seems as if its all...

Heres a look at the cheapest tickets for this years and last years WNBA Finals teams:
Tickets for the Aces WNBA Finals home games are a bargain compared to other Las Vegas sports teams like the Raiders and Golden Knights.
The Raiders, who are the most expensive secondary market team in the NFL, have an average home ticket price of $765, while tickets for the Golden Knights games in the Stanley Cup Finals in 2018 averaged $1,655.

LVSportsBiz.com chatted with Aces General Manager Natalie Williams and head coach Becky Hammon and they sized up the Connecticut Sun vs Aces Finals as a classic brawn/physical team vs finesse/fast team.
Its going to be physical, Williams said.
Noted Hammon: We know this is a clash of styles.
Hammon said the Aces schemed for Seattles personnel like star Breanna Stewart but against the Sun a team with six players who can drop 20 points a game on you the strategy will be to scheme against a concept because the Sun have such a balanced attack.
The Aces red-hot shooting Chelsea Gray said Connecticut wants to beat you up. She said the key is to match the Suns defensive intensity and protect the paint.
She mentioned shes trying to keep her shooting touch hot by remaining super calm and composed.
Gray also noted that the one slight change to her shooting technique is that she has a quicker release.

No Bad Blood Between the Raiders and Chargers LB Khalil Mack – Sports Illustrated
Posted: at 1:26 pm
Theres always bad blood after a bad breakup, and NFL players and organizations are no exception.
This was the case for the Las Vegas Raiders and now, Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Khalil Mack.
The Raiders drafted Mack with the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, and after four years with the organization he was traded to the Chicago Bears.
In his tenure with the Bears, Mack had the opportunity to have two revenge games against his former team, and finished splitting the record (1-1).
During the two games against the Raiders, Mack has 10 solo tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery.
But that build up against his former team doesn't feel quite the same as it did when they met back in 2019 and 2021.
"I mean the people that I didn't like probably aren't there anymore... I'll always have respect for the organization, said Mack on facing the Raiders.
Mack did continue to have a close friendship with Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, who he respects as a player, but that is not going to stop him from a little friendly fire when they line up across from one another on Sunday.
Scroll to Continue
"That's my brother,"said Mack of Carr. "I like to talk trash here and there. I feel like that's a bond that can't be broken when it comes to that, but come Sunday it's on and poppin'. ... He's an ultimate competitor. One of the best in the game. Somebody that I highly respect when it comes to the leadership aspect, as well as the quarterback position."
Carr will not be backing down on Sunday and will return the favor to Mack, when they face each other in their season opener.
"I mean, Khalil [Mack], I've always said he's a Hall-of-Fame player. Playing alongside Joey [Bosa], who I think is one of the best players in all of football. I really respect the way that they both play the game, and the way that they go about their business. Khalil, he's always been one of my best friends, and we always talk, it seems like every other week, except when we play each other, said Carr.
"It's not like, 'Hey, I'm not talking to you this week.' We just don't. I'll see him, I'll talk to him after the game. I'll definitely talk to him during the game, as I always do. He's one of my best friends, so just getting to play against him is cool for me. It's cool for my boys, they know him, and so they'll be watching him and all that stuff. But past that, he's a Hall of Fame-type player. Him and Joey are great rushers in this league and have been for a long time. So, we have our work cut out for us."
With so much hype coming into this game, the bad blood between the Raiders and Mack has cooled down quite a lot.
The Raiders open up their season later today against Mack and the Chargers at SoFi Stadium at 1:25 pm PT.

Queen Elizabeth II: A staunch supporter of space exploration – Fox Weather
Posted: at 1:25 pm
Around the time of Queen Elizabeth's death on Thursday, a rainbow appeared over Buckingham Palace. The Queen was 96 years old.
As the world morns the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the space community has let their appreciation for the Royal Familys interest in exploration be known.
Space agencies, astronauts and other pioneers around the world remembered and reflected upon the legacy of the 96-year-old monarch upon hearing the news of her passing Thursday.
Buckingham Palace said the queen and the duke of Edinburgh were longstanding supporters of science, technology, engineering and endeavor but their actions during seven decades on the throne put an extra spotlight on the conquests in space.
Queen Elizabeth IIs reign spanned all of human spaceflight, which kicked off in the 1960s and continues to the present day, where entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk and Sir Richard Branson have occasionally dominated the scene.
HOW THE PHRASE THE QUEENS WEATHER CAME TO MEAN FAIR WEATHER
The queen and the duke of Edinburgh first became interconnected with the space race in 1961 while hosting a celebration for the first human ever to achieve spaceflight.
Cameras produced black and white imagery, and photos captured the joy Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin had while visiting Buckingham Palace and touring London.

It was several years later before the first U.S. astronauts visited the Royal Family, but as Americans tend to do, the event was bigger and bolder than anything the world had seen before.
The entire crew of the Apollo 11 moon mission visited Buckingham Palace, where it was made strikingly clear that there was a new leader in the space race.
Upon hearing news of her passing, the now 92-year-old Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin tweeted a photo of the occasion that took place more than 50 years ago.
"God bless Queen Elizabeth, a gracious leader, lady, and our host on return from the moon. On behalf of the Apollo 11 crew, Godspeed and God bless the Royal Family. Sincere condolences," the post read.

Aside from meeting astronauts from afar, the queen made a couple of visits to major NASA facilities in the United States to give leaders her wishes and connect with the crew aboard the International Space Station.

One of those occasions happened in 2007 when the royal couple toured NASAs Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland and met with leaders of the ISS.
After her historic passing, NASA summed up its relationship with the queen in a statement that read in part, "As we join the planet in marking her passing, we are moved by the curiosity Her Royal Highness showed our explorers over the years."

Technology has been so advanced in this Generation, that despite sending humans to Earths orbit and the moon, the idea of humans surviving in outer space must seem like science fiction. These inventions are employed daily to save lives, improve environmental sustainability, and keep humans healthy.
The first country on Earth to put any technology into space was the Soviet Union, formally known as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). The USSR sent the Sputnik 1 satellite on October 4, 1957. It weighed about 83 kg (183 lb), and is believed to have orbited Earth at an altitude of about 250 km.
Human exploration and development of space are aimed at opening the space frontier by exploring, using, and enabling the development of space and expanding the human experience into the far reaches of space.
This includes increasing human knowledge of natures processes using the space environment, exploring and settling the solar system, achieving routine space travel, and enriching life on Earth through people living and working in space. NASAs Mars robotic explorations and the International Space Station provide extensive experience, research and technology (R&T), and infrastructure for other envisioned programs in support of human exploration and the development of space.

Using Virtual/Augmented Reality and Holoportation to Help Improve Mental Health for Future Mars Astronauts – Universe Today
Posted: at 1:25 pm
We recently explored how the Apple TV+ series, For All Mankind, gives us a harsh reality check about the harshness of human space exploration. In the show, astronauts struggle, some go crazy, and a lot of them die in the pursuit of planting our flag just a little farther from home. We discussed how while For All Mankind is both science fiction and takes place in an alternate universe, our future Artemis and Mars astronauts will very likely endure the same struggles and hardships as the shows beloved characters.
When Artemis astronauts finally land on the Moon, theyll be there anywhere from a few days to a few months. While the Moon is only a few days travel time from Earth, Artemis astronauts may still get a little cranky being stuck in their habitat and unable to go outside without a spacesuit.
Astronauts traveling to Mars, on the other hand, are going to be away from home far longer, potentially two years longer. Theyre going to be stuck in a spaceship for the long journey to Mars, stuck inside a Mars surface/subsurface habitat for even longer and unable to go outside without a spacesuit, then stuck in the same spaceship for the long journey back home.
Anyone whos spent extended periods of time from their familywhether working long hours for your career or deploying for ones country (twice for this author)knows this can be a massive mental health drain for all parties involved. The individual starts to question whether their mission is worth it, and the families start questioning the legitimacy of staying in this precarious situation for the long-term, as well. This mental health drain could be hugely amplified for any crewed trip to Mars, with some of the astronauts and their families back home undoubtedly questioning the mission knowing that if one component fails, theyre not coming home. But what potential steps can be taken to curtail this mental health drain and help keep both parties focused?
Virtual/Augmented Reality (VR/AR)
Everyone loves virtual reality (VR), especially for video games. Nowadays, we cant turn on our TV or streaming service without seeing an ad for the latest VR headset that youll likely be immersed in for hours on end. For human spaceflight, astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) started using VR and augmented reality (AR) to help carry out their various tasks onboard the orbiting outpost, from controlling robots to performing maintenance. But what if future Mars astronauts could use this same technology for entertainment purposes to help improve their mental health while stuck being on a planet that is quite literally trying to kill them?
The common perception is that astronauts are these superhuman freaks of nature, but theyre still very much human, and they all have their favorite hobbies and activities, to include the fine arts, running marathons, and scuba diving. When some of these brave pioneers are on Mars, we could send them immersive video of those same favorite hobbies and activities to help improve their mental health, thus improving their mission focus.
Holoportation
Holoportation involves capturing a 3D image of a person and sending it anywhere in real time, and was recently used onboard the ISS. Like VR/AR, holoportation requires the use of special glasses to see the object, and was featured several times in the Hulu series, The First, which ironically depicted the first crewed mission to Mars. For our own future Mars astronauts and their families, holoportation can be used to talk to each other, albeit with a slight time delay. This technology will only improve in the coming years, and Mars astronauts seeing their family members as a real 3D image could have a far more positive impact on their mental health than just talking to them on a Zoom call or another traditional form of 2D video communication.
When will humans go to Mars? How will the astronauts respond being away from their families for such a long period of time? Can VR/AR and holoportation positively impact their mental health throughout their journey? Only time will tell, and this is why we science!
As always, keep doing science & keep looking up!

Who Is Artemis? NASA’s Latest Mission To The Moon Is Named After An Ancient Lunar Goddess Turned Feminist Icon – IFLScience
Posted: at 1:25 pm
Artemis I will send a rocket without a crew on a monthlong journey around the Moon. The program aims to increase womens participation in space exploration 30% of its engineers are women. In addition, the Artemis I mission will carry two mannequins designed to study the effects of radiation on womens bodies so that NASA can learn how to protect female astronauts better.
Female astronauts are currently less likely to be selected for missions than men because their bodies tend to hit NASAs maximum acceptable threshold of radiation earlier. NASA expects to bring the first woman and person of color to the Moon on Artemis III sometime after 2024.
As a scholar of Greek mythology, I find the name of the mission quite evocative: The Greeks and Romans associated Artemis with the Moon, and she has also become a modern-day feminist icon.

Artemis was a major deity in ancient Greece, worshiped at least as early as the beginning of the first millennium B.C., or even earlier. She was a daughter of Zeus, the chief god of the Olympians, who ruled the world from the summit of Mount Olympus. She was also the twin sister of Apollo, god of the Sun and oracles.
Artemis was a virgin goddess of the wilderness and hunting. Her independence and strength have long inspired women in a wide range of activities. For example, in a poem titled Artemis, author Allison Eir Jenks writes: Im no longer your god-mother your chef, your bus-stop, your therapist, your junk-drawer, emphasizing womens freedom and autonomy.
As the goddess of animals and the wilderness, Artemis has also inspired environmental conservancy programs, in which the goddess is viewed as an example of a woman exercising her power by caring for the planet.
However, while the Greek Artemis was strong and courageous, she wasnt always kind and caring, even toward women. Her rashness was used to explain a womans sudden death, especially while giving birth. This aspect of the goddess has faded away with time. With the rise of feminism, Artemis has become an icon of feminine power and self-reliance.
NASA has a long history of naming its missions after mythological figures. Starting in the 1950s, many rockets and launch systems were named after Greek sky deities, like Atlas and Saturn, whose Greek name is Cronos.
Atlas and Saturn werent just gods, they were Titans. In Greek mythology, Titans represent the untamed, primordial forces of nature, and so they evoke the prodigious vastness of space exploration. Although the Titans were known for their immense strength and power, they were also rebellious and dangerous and were eventually defeated by the Olympians, who represent civilization in Greek mythology.
Following the advent of human space flight, NASA began naming missions after children of Zeus who are associated with the sky. The Mercury program, active from 1958 to 1963, was named after Hermes Roman counterpart, the messenger god who flies between Olympus, Earth and the underworld with his winged sandals.
Starting in 1963, the three-year-long Gemini program featured a capsule designed for two astronauts and was named after the twin sons of Zeus Castor and Pollux, known as the Dioscuri in Greek who were cast in the stars as the constellation of Gemini. They were regularly represented with a star above their heads in Greek and Roman art.
The space shuttle program, which lasted from 1981 to 2011, diverted from mythological monikers, and the names Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour were meant to evoke a spirit of innovation.
With Artemis, NASA is nodding back to the Apollo program, which lasted from 1963 to 1972 and put the first men on the Moon in 1969. Over 50 years later, Artemis will pick up where her twin brother left off, ushering in a more diverse era of human space flight.

Experts: Tanzania can be hub of space exploration in Africa – The Citizen

Dar es Salaam. Experts believe that Tanzania can be the hub of space exploration in Africa, saying it is also possible for the country to be among the pioneers in this field on the continent.
Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC-Tanzania) is a group of students and young professionals who strive to benefit from international organisations that encourage space activities in order to accelerate initiatives and achieve the best for Tanzania, Africa, and the world at large.
The group says the natural occurrences of space-related phenomena in Tanzania have greatly influenced their interest in space exploration, and that the country can join other African states in tapping into the continents space market.
They said this following the move by the government of China to expand its space diplomacy policy by inviting various countries, especially Africa, to seize the opportunities available in space exploration, improve science and produce many astronauts.
As part of the move, the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania on Tuesday held an event dubbed Connecting Heaven and Earth where youth representatives from Africa and astronauts from aboard the Chinese spacecraft Shenzhou engaged in a dialogue.
The event attracted more than 60 teachers, students from schools in Dar es Salaam and government officials, and saw aspiring space scientists participate in a question-and-answer show that was broadcast live on TV.
The teenagers were full of curiosity about the life and work of Chinese astronauts in space, and they asked questions aimed at helping them develop the desire to become future astronauts.
The answers by astronauts gave young people a better understanding of space knowledge through vivid space displays.
The Chinese ambassador to Tanzania, Ms Chen Mingjian, said she was impressed to watch African youth dialogue with Chinese astronauts via video link, noting further that since the successful launch of manned spacecraft Shenzhou-14 on June 5, three Chinese astronauts have been working in outer space for three months.
She said space exploration has created opportunities for all human beings to work together and inspired the world, noting that China and Tanzania have extensive potential for cooperation in future space exploration and will encourage more young generations to continue exploring.
I encourage you (students) to do your part to contribute to your space dream, love science and build up confidence in the countrys self-reliance in innovation, Ms Chen said.
Today we have so many youths here and I believe you may admire these spacemen and also dream of becoming an astronaut and walk in space, she added.
This comes at a time when Tanzania, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has continued to design and introduce various methods to motivate young people to choose science careers to help the government meet the current and future needs in science and technology.
Speaking during the event, the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Prof James Mdoe, Chinas decision had come at the right time.
This step has come at the right time when we are reviewing the curricula to be able to add important issues needed for the current times, and the fourth industrial revolution.
We are encouraging young people to embrace science, technology and innovation and space exploration brings yet another opportunity. I ask the students here to be able to ask questions that will help them become future astronauts for our country, Prof Mdoe said
China adheres to the peaceful exploration and use of outer space aiming to popularize space knowledge, encourage scientific exploration, raise awareness and promote culture training on outer space.
For instance, Tanzania is home to one of the worlds largest meteorites to ever hit the Earths surface. Located in Mbozi District, Mbeya Region, the meteorite was discovered in 1930 and it measures three metres long, one metre high, and weighs an estimated 16 metric tons, according to Dr Amos Njomvu, a space expert based in South Africa.
Also, he said Tanzanias geographical positioning is the most suitable in support of space exploration activities.
Our ministry of education should work to encourage the upcoming generation to facilitate the countrys involvement in the multi-billion dollar space market and Chinas welcoming opportunity should be seized, he noted.
Africas space market
According to the African Union Commissions Department of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, cumulatively, Africa has spent about $4.5 billion until 2020 in the space activities with a valuation standing at $7.37 billion. The market is projected to grow over 40 percent (Compound annual growth rate) for five years.
It further states challenges that entangle the continents space market as; inadequate connectivity, infrastructure gap, human capital and low or lack of investment and funding.
In the areas of collaboration with China, Tanzania, like other African countries, can focus on training and capacity development, data sharing and utilisation, and satellite manufacture.
