Kate Middleton & Prince William Held Hands in the Bahamas: TikTok – Marie Claire
Posted: May 20, 2022 at 2:09 am
The times, they are a-changing.
Where Kate Middleton and Prince William were once rarely seen being expressly affectionate with each other in public, images of them sharing loving gestures have become more commonplace in recent yearsthough not so commonplace that those moments aren't still newsworthy.
There's probably a case to be made for this being a deliberate choice, one that increases the Cambridges' relatability factor as their roles in the royal family evolve, though I'm not particularly qualified to make that case.
Back to the matter at hand: the matter of their holding hands on camera during their recent Caribbean tour (see what I did there?).
TikTok user Jimmy Rex was staying at the royal couple's hotel in the Bahamas when he spotted them in the lobby and captured a video. When posting the footage to the social media platform, he titled it the tongue-in-cheek, "Must be important people, 35 security guards with them at my hotel!" The hashtags he used in his caption confirmed that he knew perfectly well who they were, and was in fact making a joke.
In the video, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (in the yellow dress she wore on her last night in the Bahamas) are seen holding hands as they walk (presumably) out of the hotel, trailed by said security guards.
Rex calls out to them, "How you doin'?" to which the duke responds, "Hello!" The content creator then tells the duchess, "You look beautiful." She tells him, "Have a great holiday," and he returns the sentiment.

Back in 2016, royal etiquette expert Myka Meier explained to People why the Cambridges rarely held hands in public at the time (though it does sort of still stand these days). "The likely reasoning is more that while traveling on a tour such as the India trip, technically the couple are working representatives of British Monarchy," she said. "The couple are likely to show very little PDA, if any, to remain professional during their designated roles abroad." I mean, fair.

University of The Bahamas preparing for largest commencement class since pandemic – EyeWitness News
Posted: at 2:09 am
NASSAU, BAHAMAS The University of The Bahamas (UB) Commencement Ceremony that will be held next week is expected to be one of its largest since the pandemic, with well over 600 graduands who comprise the 2022 Commencement Class having completed their academic matriculation in an era of extraordinary circumstances.
And after a two-year hiatus on in-person commencement events because of the COVID-19 pandemic, UB will return to hosting its commencement activities on-site with the approval of health authorities.
However, a major difference will be the enforcement of heightened health measures to protect graduands, the University community, supporters of the Commencement class and members of the public who attend.
President of UB Dr. Rodney D. Smith said in an era marked by challenges and tumult, UBs graduands have demonstrated special strength and perseverance in the face of adversity and have remained focused on being prepared for a dynamic global society.
I am especially proud of the fact that the 2020 and 2021 Commencement classes, though virtual, did not allow an event that made the world stand still, stop them from pursuing their goals. They, like this class of distinguished 2022 graduands, have remained resilient and vigilant, Smith said.
Commencement Class President and Bachelor of Education major, Danavio Neely, expressed excitement at finally resuming the Commencement events in traditional fashion as students have been yearning for their time to shine.
Considering that this is the very first face-to-face graduation since the COVID-19 pandemic, this is a very exciting time for not only myself but the other graduates who make up this class, Neely said.
Personally, this milestone is one that I dont take lightly because this was a dream of my mother and she is no longer here and I shall continue to honour her legacy.
On behalf of the graduating class, we are certainly thankful to the University and especially the Ceremonies and Occasions Committee for being so instrumental in getting us this face-to-face ceremony. We cannot say thank you enough to all of the various faculty members and staff.
One of the highlights of the commencement ceremony will be the conferral of an honorary Doctor of the University degree, posthumously, on one of the architects of independence, Bahamian patriot and avid proponent of tertiary education the late Arthur Dion Hanna. The decision was made by the UB Board of Trustees, upon the recommendation of the Academic Senate.
Hannas daughter, Minister of Education and Technical & Vocational Training, Glenys Hanna Martin, will accept the conferral on his behalf and will deliver the Commencement address at the ceremony scheduled to be held at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium.
The Spring 2022 Commencement Class comprises graduands who completed their academic programmes in Summer and Fall 2021 and Spring 2022. This years commencement events are being held under the theme, We Survived, Now We Thrive: Succeeding Against the Odds.
Events include the Teachers Commissioning Ceremony on May 24, the Nursing and Allied Health Professions Pinning and Awards ceremonies as well as the Baccalaureate Service on May 25, and the Commencement Ceremony on May 26.
For the UB-North Campus in Grand Bahama, events include a Baccalaureate Service on May 30, a Teachers Commissioning and Awards Ceremony on 31st May, and the Commencement Ceremony on June 1.
This years commencement events will also be the final for Dr. Smith in his capacity as President as his tenure ends at the end of July 2022.
The Commencement Class will join a community of more than 20,000 UB alumni who are making strides as leaders, change-makers, and innovators in industries across The Bahamas and the globe.
Graduands represent disciplines in Business; Tourism, Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Leisure Management; Nursing and Allied Health Professions; Mathematics, Physics, and Technology; Chemistry Environmental and Life Sciences; Communication and Creative Arts; English Studies; Education; Small Island Sustainability and Social Sciences.

Fans React To Deshaun Watson Taking Browns’ Offensive Players To The Bahamas Except For Baker Mayfield – BroBible

Baker Mayfield will not be on the Deshaun Watson Bahamas trip.
According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, Watson is treating members of the Cleveland Browns offense to an all-expenses trip to the Bahamas.
Unfortunately, Baker Mayfield, who is currently requesting a trade out of Cleveland, will not be a part of the Browns trip to the Bahamas to build chemistry before the upcoming season.
Via Cleveland.com
The trip will be similar to the Camp Mayfields that Baker Mayfield hosted the past couple of years in his hometown of Austin, Texas.
Although Mayfield is still on the Browns roster, its unlikely hell l make the trip to the Bahamas, a source said. The Browns are still actively trying to trade him, and hes still also rehabbing his surgically repaired left shoulder.
Fans had jokes about Mayfield being left behind during the Browns team-bonding trip.

Geraldo Rivera Describes A UFO Tracking Him ‘Everywhere He Went’ While Sailing In The Bahamas – BroBible
Posted: at 2:09 am
On Tuesday, the United States Congress held its first meeting on UFOs in more than 50 years.
This historic House of Representatives Intelligence, Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Counterproliferation Subcommittee hearing, if nothing else, has encouraged more people to speak out on their experiences with UFOs.
One of those people who was inspired by the hearing is apparently Fox News reporter Geraldo Rivera.
During an appearance on The Five to discuss the congressional hearing on UFOs, Rivera admitted to having his own encounter with an unidentified flying object.
Ive sailed around the world, Ive seen a lot of clear skies. Ive seen satellites, which are kind of spooky, weather balloons, stray aircraft, Rivera told the four other panelists on the show.
The only time I ever saw a UFO, I was stoned on ecstasy, he continued.
After the laughter died down a bit, host Jesse Watters asked Rivera what the UFO looked like.
It looked like a great, big North Star, brighter than the North star, it was right on the horizon, replied Rivera.
Then I tried to avoid it, he continued. I steered around it
Fellow panelist and former NFL cheerleader Emily Compagno, who was more interested in Geraldo being stoned on ecstasy than his UFO encounter, tried to interrupt, but Rivera was undeterred and finished his tale.
It kept following me and and I went back the other way. It was right in front of me. It just tracked me everywhere I went.
Rivera now joins an elite club that includes Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus (who also may have been stoned), and Sammy Hagar (who claims to have vivid memories of being abducted by aliens) as celebrities who have claimed to have had encounters with UFOs. The truth is out there.

#TheBahamas, May 18, 2022 During a Communication in the House of Assembly, by Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Hon. Philip Davis, tabling an Audit
Report into the operations of the National Food Distribution Task Force and the National Food Distribution Programme, on May 16, 2022, he said that his Government had found it consistently difficult to obtain genuine answers, about operations.
In the case of the Food Programme, requests for credible documentation of how $53 million was spent have not been answered, Prime Minister Davis said. To be clear, documents have been provided, but they are not documents that answer the most important questions posed.
He continued: To make an analogy, if someone asks, How much did your car cost?, and the car owner answers, My car is blue, an answer of sorts has been provided, but not one of great relevance to the questioner.
In the case of the Food Programme, some documents have been proffered up, but they do not provide answers to the Bahamian peoples questions.
Prime Minister Davis said that the 138-page Audit Report makes for startling reading.
In the General Findings of the Audit Report, 18 categories of major deficiencies were noted, he said. These ranged from a widespread lack of record-keeping, and widespread inconsistences relating to the sums of money handled, to a complete absence of minutes being kept of meetings, agreements and actions.
In other words, although tens of millions of the Bahamian peoples dollars were being spent, not even the most basic safeguards were in place, he added. A government that speechified about transparency at great length and at every opportunity did not conduct even the most basic oversight of a major government initiative.
Prime Minister Davis said that the audit was astounding in documenting the failures of the government in establishing reporting and monitoring protocols, or internal controls. He noted that the Task Force could not provide the auditors with information that should have already been completed and readily available.
Even in the instances where information was provided, only aggregate totals were offered, with none of the supporting documents that would be critical to corroborate the figures, he said. Theres no back-up provided: no contracts, no cheques, no receipts and no bank statements to support the information. No evidence, in other words.
It is noteworthy, too, that some organisations concerned have still refused to provide any information whatsoever, he added.
Prime Minister Davis pointed out that, given the sums of money involved, the deficiencies are breath-taking.
Public Officers did not have oversight of the expenditure of funds, he said. Expenditure of millions of dollars remains unexplained and undocumented.
No audited financial statements have been provided, so information provided by the NGOs cannot be confirmed.
He added: Information Dashboards presented by the Task Force did not reconcile to the information provided by NGOs. So, for example, just to highlight the point, if the
Task Force is saying that they gave an NGO $100,000, and the NGO is saying they only received $80,000, whats happened to the difference?
In fact, numerous instances have been identified when the NGOs concerned did not account for the total amount funds received from the Government, Prime Minister Davis continued. As I said in the Mid-Year Budget, we uncovered $2 million that was sitting in an NGOs account. I am happy to say that money was then recovered for the Bahamian taxpayer. Are there millions more sitting idle in other accounts?
Prime Minister Davis noted that there was no consistent system of recordkeeping at the Task Force or NGO level; and it was simply not credible to believe that from May 2020 to October 2021, they were too busy to keep proper records.
And some of the records which were kept, raise even bigger questions. Why were such exorbitant fees paid for some services? he added.
Prime Minister Davis gave the example of one restaurant being paid $6 per box for the delivery of each food parcel. That, he noted, amounted to approximately $50,000 per month.
Why did they pay $6 to deliver a single parcel of corned-beef, flour, rice and the other very basic items they delivered to families in need? he said. The delivery cost would have been more than the food itself.
And to this day, despite numerous requests, two NGOs have still not provided any information at all, and combined, they received more than $10 million.
$10 million of the Bahamian peoples money, has simply vanished.
Prime Minister Davis also called on those with knowledge of the underlying facts to come forward. Those who had failed to provide answers and evidence still have an opportunity and an obligation to do so, he added.
We do not prejudge the circumstances we have uncovered, he said. We cannot say definitively whether we are looking at jaw-dropping incompetence or something considerably worse.
For now, I encourage the Bahamian people to read the Audit Report for themselves.

Amber Heard’s friend says Johnny Depp told him about blacking out and passing out face first in the sand in the Bahamas and staff having to whisk his…

A friend of Johnny Depp's said the actor recalled blacking out in front of his children.
iO Tillett Wright, who was not present during the incident, said his kids were then "whisked away."
He said his friendship with Amber Heard began before, and lasted longer, than his with Depp.
Amber Heard's friend iO Tillett Wright testified Tuesday that Johnny Depp disclosed a time when he'd blacked out on an island in the Bahamas.
"He told me that he passed out face down in the sand while his kids were there and that the staff had whisked his kids away so that they didn't see it," Tillett Wright, a photographer, writer, and producer, said in a deposition that was recorded on March 10, 2022. Tillett Wright was not present during the incident and did not clarify if it occurred on Depp's private island.
The testimony was the latest in the explosive $50 million defamation case following Heard's 2018 op-ed insinuating that she was a victim of abuse. Though Depp was not named throughout the Washington Post piece, he claimed it ruined his career. Heard has countersued for $100 million and claimed Depp physically or sexually assaulted her before and during their 15-month marriage.
Tillett Wright said he'd known Heard since 2011 and eventually became friends with her.
Soon thereafter, he met Depp, became close with the pair, and briefly lived with the couple for a 9-month period between August 2013 and June 2014.
Tillett Wright added that Depp had a "misogynistic and cruel" side when he was under the influence of drugs but that he never witnessed Depp physically assault Heard.
"Johnny when sober was lovely and magical and very funny," Wright said. "Johnny when sober was incredibly lucid and imaginative and I felt a kindred connection with him," he continued.
Depp has two children Lily-Rose and Jack with his former partner Vanessa Paradis. Heard and Depp, whose relationship lasted from 2012 to 2016, do not have children together, but Heard welcomed a baby via surrogate in 2021.

Yuval Harari warns humans will be "hacked" if artificial intelligence …
Posted: at 2:09 am
The future could see the world's human data, delivered through the rising power and reach of artificial intelligence, in the hands of a powerful few - a recipe for a dystopian tomorrow populated by "hacked humans," says Yuval Noah Harari. The world-renowned author tells Anderson Cooper nations must begin cooperating to prevent this by regulating artificial intelligence and the collection of data across all nations. The interview with Harari will be broadcast on 60 Minutes, Sunday October 31, at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
Harari says the countries and companies that control the most data will control the world.
"The world is increasingly kind of cut up into spheres of data collection, of data harvesting. In the Cold War, you had the Iron Curtain. Now we have the Silicon Curtain, that the world is increasingly divided between the USA and China," Harari tells Cooper. "Does your data go to California or does it go to Shenzhen and to Shanghai and to Beijing?"
Harari, a history professor at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, published his first book, "Sapiens," in 2014; it was a global best seller. He has since published two more books with futuristic themes, "Homo Deus" and "21 Lessons for the 21st Century." The three books together have sold 35 million copies in 65 languages.
He has been warning people of a not-so-distant future of incredible change, saying the artificial intelligence at work today through algorithms will only strengthen its grip on humans.
"Netflix tells us what to watch and Amazon tells us what to buy. Eventually within 10 or 20 or 30 years such algorithms could also tell you what to study at college and where to work and whom to marry and even whom to vote for," says Harari.
And he points out, the pandemic has opened the door to even more intrusive collection of our data.
"It's data about what's happening inside my body. What we have seen so far, it's corporations and governments collecting data about where we go, who we meet, what movies we watch. The next phase is surveillance going under our skin," he warns.
"Certainly, now we are at the point when we need global cooperation. You cannot regulate the explosive power of artificial intelligence on a national level," says Harari, who tells Cooper what he feels needs to be done. "One key rule is that if you get my data, the data should be used to help me and not to manipulate me. Another key rule, that whenever you increase surveillance of individuals you should simultaneously increase surveillance of the corporation and governments and the people at the top. And the third principle is that-- never allow all the data to be concentrated in one place. That's the recipe for a dictatorship."
Harari says humans are at risk of becoming 'hacked" if artificial intelligence does not become better regulated.
"To hack a human being is to get to know that person better than they know themselves. And based on that, to increasingly manipulate you," Harari says.
There's an upside to the rise of artificial intelligence, too, says Harari, but only if accompanied by regulation.
"The whole thing is that it's not just dystopian. It's also utopian. I mean, this kind of data can also enable us to create the best health care system in history," he says. "The question is what else is being done with that data? And who supervises it? Who regulates it?"

Sad Delivery Robot Gets Lost In The Woods – Futurism
Posted: at 2:08 am
He's just a poor little guy.Into the Woods
If a delivery robot gets lost in the woods and nobodys there to find it, does it, uh, okay, we kinda lost the metaphor on that one.
Regardless, the internet was delighted over the weekend when British history professor Matthew McCormack made a hilarious discovery during his morning bike ride: a six-wheeled delivery robot, driving by its lonesome self along a forested path, in a rather adorable reminder of the helplessness of increasingly ubiquitous autonomous machines.
Its unclear what company it belonged to. But given the location, Northampton in the UK, the robot was likely built by Starship Technologies, a well-established player in the field that has expanded its footprint considerably in the area.
This poor little bot is far from the first to run into trouble.
Some of been getting stuck on curbs, while another met afiery demise underneath freight trains.
In another domain, robot vacuums have also run astray. One infamous vacuum narrowly escaped a Travelodge hotel in Cambridge, UK, back in January.Another one got so lost that its owner distributed missing posters.
Theres a good chance that lost delivery robots will become a common sight in the near future. The use of the tech skyrocketed during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing cities, particularly in China, with ways to make deliveries without spreading germs.
Starship raised $100 million in March alone, signaling a major appetite among investors for the microwave-sized robots.
So it may be time to learn how to get along with the chaotic wheelie bins or at least figure out how to point them in the right direction if they do end up getting lost in the woods.

Neom: The futuristic city where people, robotic avatars and holograms can co-exist – Euronews
Posted: at 2:08 am
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a bubbling beaker of Arabian tradition mixed with science-bending futurism with megacity Neom spearheading the change.
From its technological verve to its sustainability ambitions, its clear that Neom is firmly in charge of its own narrative, with robotic avatars and holograms ready to become part of everyday life.
Emerging from stark desert splendour, the 26,500 kilometre square site will extend 460 kilometres along the coast of the Red Sea in the Tabuk Province of Saudi Arabia, providing a self-sufficient residential haven powered entirely by renewable energy.
Interwoven with nature, and advanced by technology, Neom is pioneering a new way of living and new ways to travel, says Head of Tourism at Neom, Andrew McEvoy.
It is our ambition to be the worlds most appealing yet sustainable destination and bring imagination and flair back into travel.
The $500 billion (480 billion) smart city aims to attract five million visitors by 2030 and the first hotels are scheduled to open in 2024, though according to McEvoy, the development will never end on what is perhaps the most ambitious project in the world.
Made up of three main districts, Neom will stretch across mountains, desert and the sea. The Line, a 160-kilometre-long sustainable city, will have the capacity for one million residents, while Oxagon will become the largest floating industrial complex in the world. For adventurers, however, nowhere will compare to the dizzying heights of Trojena.
Trojena is located 50 kilometres from the Gulf of Aqaba coast surrounded by the pristine ranges of the Sarawat Mountains, with elevations ranging from 1,500 metres to 2,600 metres.
Covering an area of nearly 60 square kilometres, the project is set to become the Gulf Cooperation Councils (GCC) only outdoor year-round destination with high-mountain-quality dry air, according to Communications and Marketing Director at Trojena, Clark Williams.
Trojena plans to be the pinnacle of human ingenuity in design as well as architectural and engineering innovation, he says.
It will set a new benchmark for the future of mountain developments and will be a significant destination in the region.
Expected to open in 2026, Trojena will have a ski slope, mountain biking, watersports and world-class wellness facilities. It will also feature an interactive nature reserve.
The Ski Village will be located at Neom Peak at around 2,400 metres above sea level offering exhilarating snow skiing and winter and synthetic slopes for the rest of the year.
Meanwhile Neom Lake, an entirely man-made water body built atop a mountain, will become a hub for watersports, as well as a space for hosting festivals and events against the mountains scenic backdrop.
Acting as the main gateway into Trojena, The Vault will be a folded-vertical village that connects the physical and digital worlds.
Technology and innovation are at the heart of Neoms offerings, and Trojena is no exception, says Williams.
The Vault will be a mesmerising futuristic destination where people, robotic avatars and holograms can co-exist, interact and engage in various activities and events, bending both the physical and digital world into a one-of-its-kind metaverse."
In addition to being the main portal into Trojena's metaverse, The Vault will also offer shops, restaurants, entertainment and a public park, with sustainability at its core.
The Neom masterplan has been developed with the natural terrain in mind, with all building works designed to protect the natural features of the region.
On an operational basis, Trojena will adhere to strict decarbonisation techniques, focusing on heating and cooling systems, insulation and building materials and performance-based building energy codes.
Trojenas tourism calendar will be split into four seasons, each with distinct offerings and attractions.
The winter season, from November to March, will focus on skiing and snowboarding, hot air ballooning and a winter fashion week.
Adventure season falls between March and May and offers high altitude training, paragliding, climbing and an ironman athletics challenge for those that dare.
Lake season, from May to September, will be for culture lovers with music, art and food festivals, while wellness season will include a yoga retreat and a host of wellbeing focused events.
Trojena will serve as a model for future Neom human-centric-designed communities, showcasing what active, community-based, cognitive, luxurious and comfortable living should look like, says Williams.
It will set a new benchmark for the future of mountain developments and will be a significant destination in the region.
