Bongino warns it will ‘get worse’ as Biden lacks Clinton’s moderating ‘inclinations’ that saved presidency – Fox News
Posted: January 19, 2022 at 11:38 am
Media top headlines January 18
In media news today, CNNs Paul Begala says Democrats dont have bad leaders, they have bad followers, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky admits to poor messaging on COVID guidance, and Spotify remains silent after Joe Rogan critics call for change to prevent COVID misinformation.
Fox News host Dan Bongino warned that "it is going to get worse before it gets better" in the United States as President Biden appears to be politically floundering ahead of his one-year anniversary in office.
Bongino said Tuesday on "The Dan Bongino Show" on Fox Nation and Westwood One that when former President Bill Clinton faced cratering approval in the early part of his first term because of his far-left policies like "HillaryCare", the Arkansas Democrat made a calculation and tacked to the political center prior to his 1996 reelection.
Instead, Biden is doubling down on far-left politics, including issuing a verbal "appeal" to private companies to stop what he believes to be "misinformation" which Bongino said shows the president is "not hiding it anymore" in terms of his true politics.
"Joe Biden, the PINO president in name only is making a quote 'special appeal to private companies'," he said. He added that Biden had no issue with Big Tech and the mainstream media stifling coverage of his son, Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings, specifically the first son's former business partner Tony Bobulinski's interview with Tucker Carlson in 2020.
"They are specifically prohibited from colluding with private actors to suppress free speech this is a clear call to violate the First Amendment. He's saying I'm Joe Biden, I'm the president, I'm not allowed to do this but I'm going to do it anyway," Bongino said.

Bongino said Biden's comments are a clear indication he has no intention to moderate as Clinton did, and that instead the Democrats in power have entered "desperation time" and are in turn seeking to crush opposing and critical voices.
"[Biden] is not going to change course. Even the dreadful Bill Clinton understood about of the way through his first term that if he was going to get reelected, he couldnt have the country falling apart and HillaryCare (what was to be the Health Security Act of 1993) be his signature issue."
Bongino pointed out Clinton's famous proclamation, "the era of big government is over", and that he decreased government spending with the help of newly elected Republican-controlled Congress.
That served Clinton well, Bongino said, reiterating that Biden shows no sign of seeking the same compromise as his predecessor.
LEO TERRELL: DEMOCRATS ARE IN A 1965 TIME WARP WITH RACISM ALLEGATIONS AGAINST POLITICAL OPPONENTS

"Im not celebrating the presidency of Bill Clinton or the morally-inept Bill Clinton himself, Im simply telling you he had the political acumen to understand he had overstepped that he'd screwed over America that the liberalism as he wanted it through HillaryCare and these other initiatives they were pushing for were not going to work, and he redialed and reset the thermometer, and he wound up getting reelected quite handily [in 1996]," Bongino said.
"Im telling you for a fact: Joe Biden has none of those inclinations. He is neither brave, nor does he have any sense of dignity. Someone is whispering in his ear because he just wants to be he loved by the liberal left that he can be this transformative figure despite the fact the electoral math does not work."
Instead, Biden continues to govern as if he received an electoral mandate in 2020 to govern from the hard left like Franklin Roosevelt, when in reality the Senate is evenly split and Democrats have a slim majority in the House, he added.
"Thats why he continues to lose. Thats why I am not optimistiches now getting desperate. And him getting desperate was evidence last week with a President of the United States personally calling for private companies to violate the Constitution and the First Amendment and suppress ideas he doesnt like," he said. "Folks, it is going to get worse before it gets better and I need everyone to be prepared."

Bongino said he was heartened by the inauguration of Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and the quick actions the governor has already taken.
"Glenn Youngkin had a great first day in Virginia. He did what he said he was going to do and we've got to clean the house up. Its our house, it's the United States of America," Bongino said. "We put our hands over our hearts, and we celebrate this place when that anthem plays because this place matters theres no second place, what are you going to do, go to Canada? There's nothing like the United States."

There’s no such thing as ‘absolute immunity’ for former presidents | TheHill – The Hill
Posted: at 11:38 am
Last Monday, Donald J. Trumps lawyers asked a federal court to dismiss three civil lawsuits against the former president brought by California Democrat Rep.Eric Swalwell, a group of otherHouse DemocratsandCapitol police officers.
Each suit seeks monetary damages for Trumps role in fomenting the armed invasion of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, including the barrage of falsehoods that Trump churned out about a stolen election. The complaints also point to Trumps call to fight like hell at the Save America rally that day.
If the plaintiffs win these lawsuits, Trump is at risk of being ordered to pay millions of dollars to the individual victims of the Jan. 6 rampage. Large punitive damage awards can achieve at least partial justice, as they did last November when the organizers of the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Va., wereordered to pay$26 million to their victims.
During a five-hour oral argument, U.S. District Court JudgeAmit Mehta askedwhether there was anything the president could say that would render him or her accountable in a civil suit. Trumps attorneys could not think of a single hypothetical exception.
Mehta should rule against Trump on each of the core legal claims.
The absolute immunity argument advances Trumps long-held position that presidents are above the law. His attorneys made similar (and equally unsupported) claims in both of his post-impeachment Senate trials. In the second trial following what we now understand to be an attempted coup, Trumps lawyers asserted without any legal precedent that presidents have what they termed enhanced free speech rights.
In 2020, Alan DershowitzAlan Morton DershowitzThere's no such thing as 'absolute immunity' for former presidents BBC faces blowback after Dershowitz appears as Maxwell trial analyst The dangerous trend behind Officer Kim Potter's conviction MORE of Harvard Law School, representing Trump at the first Senate trial, stunned most constitutional law expertswhen he said, If a president does something which he believes will get him elected in the public interest that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment.
Trumps lawyers got it wrong then, and their arguments last Monday were wrong too.Heres why.
First, having little to work with, Trumps lawyers resorted to yet another incantation of executive privilege. But executive privilege exists so that presidents can freely exchange ideas and policy considerations with close advisors. It does not apply to what a president says in public. All evidentiary privileges evaporate after the statements are shared outside the confidential relationship.
The second argument may turn on whether Trumps exhortations to the crowd including fight like hell were within the scope of the presidents official duties and entitled to immunity or something else altogether. That something else might be characterized as campaign speech (as Trumps attorneys argued) or speech that the First Amendment doesnt protect, like incitement or expression that furthers a crime (e.g. conspiracy, sedition, or insurrection). Presidents who are on duty 24/7 may speak as individuals rather than as chief executive officers. The line is far from clear.
Third, the proposition that the First Amendment contemplates a president claiming enhanced free speech rights is preposterous on its face. The speech clause limits the governments ability to censor or punish expression it does not generally distinguish based on status. Even if such a distinction were contemplated, the former presidents baseless claim is topsy-turvy. The speech clause exists in large part to protect dissidents, the disempowered and those who speak truth to power. The powerful need no special protection.
Even when Trumps legal position is barely tenable, his goal, as we see again and again, is to block information from emerging through documents and depositions, and to stall any day of reckoning for as long as possible.
The fatal flaws in Trumps legal arguments in these three civil cases should convince Mehta to render a decision that would allow the lawsuits to proceed. We can hope that he rules quickly.

This Trump backer was inside U.S. Capitol only minutes. He’ll spend two years on probation – Oklahoman.com

Vigil honors democracy, remembers Jan. 6 insurrection
A crowd sang and made calls to action outside the First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City on the anniversary of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
Addison Kliewer, Oklahoman
A judge Tuesday put a Chandler manon probation for two years and fined him $1,500 after he expressed little remorse for breaching the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Tanner Bryce Sells, 26,was ordered to spend the first 90 days of his probation on home detention.
He also must pay $500 in restitution and complete 50 hours of community service.
"I do appreciate the fact that you're willing to stand up and accept judgment, but I'm not sure that you actually understand what the problem was when you just call it a mistake," U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson said.
More: Jan 6 committee could get some Trump White House documents as soon as Wednesday
"And I'm not sure what to make of the fact that your lawyer said you aren't proud of your participation but you said nothing to me on that subject."
The judge conducted the hearing in federal court in Washington, D.C. Sells appeared with his attorney by videoconference from Oklahoma City.
He pleaded guilty in September to a misdemeanor, illegally demonstrating inside the U.S. Capitol. Among the evidence against him were videos he posted on Facebook.
Sells spent a little more than five minutes inside the U.S. Capitol after hearing then-President Donald Trump speak at a rally, his attorney told the judge in a sentencing memo.
"He walked in. And hewalkedout," Assistant Federal Public Defender Kyle E. Wackenheimsaid Tuesday. "There's no talking. There's no chanting. There's no violence."
More: Rudy Giuliani, other Trump backers who pushed voter fraud claims subpoenaed by Jan 6 committee
Sells had traveled to Washington, D.C., with members of his church to attend the rally.
"There's been a lot of people that's told me that I should come in here and apologize and show my remorse," Sells told the judge Tuesday.
"I have remorse for what I've done and all that. I made a mistake. But, inthe same time, I'm ..." he said, then paused.
"I'm a man of accountability," he continued. "And I'm willing to accept the mistakes that I made and accept your judgment in this."
Prosecutors had asked the judge to sentence Sells to 14 days incarceration, followed by 36 months of probationand 60 hours of community service.
His attorney had asked for probation for one year.
The judge scolded Sells while imposing thepunishment.
"I do want to make something clear, Mr. Sells," she said. "You were not prosecuted and you are not sitting in front of me today because you exercised your First Amendment right.
"You pled guilty to a federal offense. You broke the law. You're not here today because you supported the former president. Millions of people voted for him and did not heed his call to descend on the nation's Capitol.
"And there are plenty of people who came to hear the speeches that still managed to control themselves from entering the building."
More: A fake, pro-Trump slate of 2020 electors sent their votes to Congress. Who was behind it?
She told Sells he was a participant in a mass effort to subvert democracy.
"You contributed to the dangerousness. And you contributed to the devastation," she said. "And you helped prolong the period of time before the halls could be cleared and secured and Congress could resume doing the people's business."
Sells, who runs a construction business, is allowed to go to work while on home detention. He also is allowed to go to church and pick up and return his son.
Among those writing a letter of support on his behalf was state Rep. Kevin Wallace, R-Wellston.
The legislator asked the judge for "your compassion in this process." The judge indicated during the sentencing she had read thatletter and others.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. The American Civil Liberties Union of Arkansas on Tuesday filed a federal lawsuit against members of the Pulaski County Board of Election Commissioners for what they say was a violation against an election officials first amendment rights.
According to court filings, Kristi Stahr in her capacity as Chairwoman of the Pulaski County Board of Election Commissioners, and Commissioners David Scott and Susan Inman are specifically cited in the lawsuit.
The lawsuit claims that Barry Haas free-speech rights were disregarded when he was denied an appointed position for the September 2021 special Little Rock tax election due to his political and ideological views.
The lawsuit alleges that he was denied the appointment after a meeting where Chairwoman Stahr claimed he was refusing in-person and on social media to follow Arkansas photo I.S. requirement as an elected official.
I previously challenged Arkansass voter-identification laws requiring photo I.D. in court, because I believed the laws were unconstitutional and bad policy, Haas said.
The case was filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas.

Humans of CU: Kevin King, the saxophone king – Daily Illini
Posted: at 11:37 am
A man holding a tenor saxophone stood in front of an excited and anxious small crowd. He felt the anticipation of the other musicians who were by his side electrify his nerves. The music began playing, and from the moment he lifted the wooden reed to his mouth, he was lost in the rhythm.
From playing piano at only three years old to jamming out in big house shows with several bands, Kevin King, recent graduate of FAA and a member of the band The Data Waves, is a musical protge.
I play saxophone obviously, I also play oboe, clarinet, flute, he said. I play like the whole entire woodwind family.
King explained that initially, he had a hard time maneuvering across the keys. But when he started playing saxophone at the age of six, everything changed for him. His love and appreciation of music blossomed.
Saxophone is really what bred my love for music; the rest is history, King said. So now, I just play music every day, you know, and cant stop.
He also explained that his musical ability does not necessarily come from his family. They do not consist of many musically inclined individuals. However, his household played a lot of music that influenced him to join the art.
They played a lot of different kinds of, what I call, Black-American music, King said. Hip-hop, gospel, funk, rock; all types of music. I remember listening to Curtis Mayfield and Aretha Franklin.
He added that he did not really get exposed to jazz music until he picked up the saxophone and began taking lessons. He also attributes much of his love and passion for music and the saxophone to the values his teacher instilled in him.
The person that introduced me to jazz music is this woman named Diane Ellis, he said. Shes still around, but she had a stroke. She was my first saxophone teacher.
He also emphasized the fact that he didnt perfect the saxophone overnight. His current success came from many years of practice.
King describes who he was in high school as being equal parts athlete and musician. However, after joining a jazz scholars program, he became an all-parts musician.
I was learning how to be a professional, you know, really make money with it and really take my musical ability to the next level, he said.
When it was time to pick an area to major in at the University, King considered his love for jazz and his musical talent. With that, he decided to major in jazz studies.
However, King explained that being in the academic program was not the most influential part of being in college but rather the experience he got working with other creatives.
My teachers very much helped me, he said. But the academic program didnt necessarily make me better. Just playing house shows, like every weekend. That gave me so much experience.
King joined The Data Waves when he was a freshman. He began translating his love for music into performances.
I wasnt an original member, he said. They (original members) were a band called The Apothecaries. Ive learned so much from being in that group.
Shravan Raghuram, recent graduate of the College of Business and the drummer of The Data Waves, described his relationship with King as a unique bond; the two were never short of compliments for each other. He also commented on Kings musical ability.
There is nobody I would rather share a stage or a recording session with, Raghuram said.
He also commented on Kings musical ability.
His ability as a musician goes without saying, he said. Hes always been the most dedicated and passionate musician I know. Watching him practice and gig and train for 10+ hours a day is a level of commitment I had never seen before. He makes everyone around him better in every sense of the word.
Joey Parker, another alumnus in FAA and keyboard player for The Data Waves, said King changed his life when he was at his lowest.
Even at the worst of my depression, Kevin remained an optimistic force and was so encouraging despite my difficulties, he said. No matter what, Kevin always prioritizes kindness above all else although music is a close second.
The current member, bassist Aditya Kashyap, agreed with Parker.
Kevin has a serious work ethic but such a goofy personality, he never fails to make me laugh, he said. I think that though Kevin has been playing for a long time and in many different musical settings, he still appreciates the opportunity to play with us.
Kevins personality is as loud as his playing, Parker said.

NAHL announces Bauer Hockey Stars of the Week – NAHL.com
Posted: at 11:37 am
January 17, 2022
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending January 16, 2022. The Divisional Stars of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2021-22 regular season that honors the top performing players in each of the four NAHL divisions. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the Divisional Players of the Week award.
Central Division Star of the Week: Jake McLean, Forward, Bismarck Bobcats
McLean, 19, had a big weekend for the Bobcats as they picked up a sweep of a home-and-home series against the Aberdeen Wings. The 61/175 lbs. native of North Vancouver, BC, had four points in the two wins, which included 3 goals and an assist and a +4 rating. On Friday, McLean had two goals and an assist in a 5-2 road win, and then on Saturday, he had a goal in a 4-1 win. For the season, McLean currently leads the Bobcats in scoring with 30 points in 34 games played. Jake has been our most consistent player all year for us. He is an all-around 200-foot player and gets rewarded almost every night for it, and it's going to make him a very effective college player as well, said Bobcats head coach Layne Sedevie.
2nd Star: Oskar Spinnars Nordin, G, Bismarck Bobcats
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jacob Bosse, F, Aberdeen Wings Nick Catalano, F, Austin Bruins Owen DuBois, F, Aberdeen Wings Byron Hartley, F, North Iowa Bulls Colby Joseph, F, Minot Minotauros Blake Mesenburg, F, St. Cloud Norsemen Michael Mesic, F, North Iowa Bulls Austin Salani, F, Austin Bruins Austin Zavoda, G, Minot Minotauros

For the season, Carroll is 3rd in team scoring with 39 points in 33 NAHL games played this season. Chris has been a consistent force for our club since being acquired shortly before Thanksgiving. He is a talented 200-foot hockey player, who had added veteran leadership to the dressing room as well. This past weekend he was able to contribute some big time points for us in two big home wins vs Maine. We look forward to Chris continuing his strong play as we continue to chase the Robertson Cup Playoffs, said Titans head coach Craig Doremus.

John Cena The Wrestler Never Impressed Me But I Love John Cena The Actor – /Film
Posted: at 11:37 am
Let me be clear: I am not a fan of the professional wrestling character John Cena. As a person, he's great. He has granted over 650 wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is the most in the organization's history. He donated $1 million to Black Lives Matter as part of BTS' #MatchAMillion initiative. Then there's his "We Are America" PSA for the Ad Council, the "Rise Above Hate" anti-bullying campaign, his work with breast cancer survivors through Susan G. Komen, and much, much more. Seriously, he's a great dude. He's also a great reality TV personality thanks to "Total Divas" and "Total Bellas," but that's another conversation for another time.
I'm also not denying the fact that Cena has been a cultural ambassador for professional wrestling in the wider scope of pop culture. Just like Hulk Hogan, The Rock, and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, people outside of wrestling have been drawn in because of Cena's appearances outside of the ring. He's definitely earned his future WWE Hall of Fame induction for all of those reasons and more.
But I don't like John Cena as a wrestler for the same reasons that I didn't like Hogan (aside from the unapologetic racism) or DC Comics' Big Blue Boy Scout, Superman: After years and years of being the top guy, these characters are unstoppable and you never believe for a second that they're going to lose. For the most part, they never fail and they never change.
Whether it's saying your prayers and taking your vitamins, standing for truth, justice, and the American Way, or preaching hustle, loyalty, and respect, it's all just so boring. And it's not just for the present day me, the writer and critic that professionally analyzes media. Childhood me wasn't having it either. Watching these types of characters becomes a chore because they're not flawed, which makes them unrelatable. Ted Lasso and Captain America can be seen as a squeaky clean baby-faces too, but both of them are also complex characters with their own flaws that they're working through. They're not the pinnacle of perfection. On the other hand, Cena is now a 16-time World Champion. We didn't need to see him win that many titles because the story rarely changes, yet we've gotten it again and again and again. Unfortunately, this kind repetition has even been applied to superstars beyond Cena at this point. Vince McMahon picks his guys and girls, decides that they're the heroes of the story, and shoves them down the audience's throats whether they like them or not. That's just what WWE has become these days.

Five takeaways from Donald Trumps rally in Arizona
Posted: at 11:37 am

Former president Donald Trump held his first rally of 2022 in Arizona, one of the focal points of his Big Lie that the election was rigged. Throughout the rally, Mr Trump raged against his enemies as much in the Republican Party as well as President Joe Biden and the media.
Heres five takeaways from Mr Trumps event in Arizona.
Kari Lake, a former Arizona news anchor and gubernatorial candidate, gave one of the rallys opening speeches and joined Mr Trump onstage.
Before the former president arrived in Arizona, Kimberly Yee, the Republican state treasurer and also a candidate for governor, announced she would end her campaign and instead would run for state treasurer. Mr Trump also railed against Arizonas outgoing Republican Governor Doug Ducey, whom he has loathed for not decertifying the 2020 election results.
Hes never going to get my endorsement, he said, amid rumors Mr Ducey is considering a run for the Senate against Democratic Senator Mark Kelly.
Mr Trump also danced on the graves of retiring Republicans who voted to impeach him for inciting the US Capitol riot on January 6, most recently Rep John Katko of New York. He vocally criticized Reps Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, both of whom sit on the select committee investigating the riot and the latter of whom is not seeking reelection.
Theyre falling fast and furious. Were getting rid of them fast, he said.
Mr Trump opened the rally by saying The Big Lie is a lot of bulls***.
Throughout he spoke of how he won the election and continued to spread repeated lies on the 2020 presidential race to thunderous applause.
I ran twice and we won twice and we did better the second time. We did much better the second time, Mr Trump said.
He also dismissed concerns about the January 6 attempted insurrection by his supporters and instead continued to repeat claims of impropriety and that Democrats used measures during the pandemic to enable mail-in voting to steal the election.
Story continues
Why arent they investigating November 3rd a Rigged and Stolen Election, he said. The people are very angry. They got duped and they found out what happened. The people have to be free to find the answers and if not, they will never trust again and our country will be absolutely decimated.
The former president has long promoted conspiracy theories unrelated to the election. But throughout the rally, Mr Trump openly espoused the conspiracy theory that Ray Epps - previously on the FBIs most wanted list - was a government informant and goaded people to come into the Capitol.
Exactly how many of those present at the Capitol complex on January 6 were FBI confidential informants, agents or otherwise, working directly or indirectly with an agency of the United States government, he said. People want to hear this.
He also expressed sympathy for some rioters who are currently in jail awaiting trial for their actions at the US Capitol and said they are living in hell.
The bathrooms are horrible, he said, adding that If we think theyre innocent, we should help them defend themselves.
He also repeated his sympathy for Ashli Babbitt, the pro-Trump rioter who was shot and killed by a Capitol police officer after she stormed the building.
One target of Mr Trumps ire stood out from all the rest on Saturday, thanks to the former presidents social media and graphics teams.
The nearly two-hour rally was interrupted about halfway through for a pre-produced video that the former president showed his fans. In the video, which was up for less than a minute, statements made by New York Attorney General Letitia James about her desire to go after Mr Trump for longstanding accusations of fraud were highlighted.
The moment stood out, as it marked the only time in the rally that Mr Trump relinquished the microphone other than to allow remarks from Kari Lake, his favoured candidate for Arizona governor.
Ms James was also the only one of Mr Trumps Democratic rivals, including Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, to get the pre-produced attack video treatment.
The New York Attorney General is currently involved in a case pursuing the Trump Organization for fraud claims.
Normally, it would make little sense for a president to call out a retiring, low-profile GOP congressman by name and bring him on onstage at a rally located on the opposite side of the country from their home district.
But typical logic rarely applies to Trump rallies. On Saturday, Mr Trump named and shamed Representative John Katko, a Republican from New York, over his announcement that he would retire and not seek reelection this year.
The move would normally be seen as a blow for the Republican Party, which hopes to retain control of Mr Katkos district (which leans slightly Democratic) and retake the House this fall.
But not so for Mr Trump, de facto leader of the GOP, who sees Mr Katko as the enemy following the latters support for the second impeachment of the former president last year in the wake of the January 6 riot.
Theyre falling fast and furious. The ones that voted to impeach, were getting rid of them fast, he told his supporters.
Naming the New York congressman, he added: And John Katko is now gone, we just got rid of Katko.
The announcement was met with a smattering of applause. However the majority of the crowd appeared not to associate the name with the effort to impeach Mr Trump, as it did with bigger-name Republicans like Reps Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.
The presidents second impeachment trial ended without conviction but nevertheless saw the greatest defection by a presidents party of any impeachment effort in history.
