The Week In Sports Betting News: Waiting On Launcb In Connecticut – Legal Sports Report

Posted: September 27, 2021 at 5:21 pm

Happy Monday, everyone. There could be some exciting sports betting news coming this week as another state approaches its first legal bet.

Connecticut is one of many states in a rollout phase this football season. Maryland and Louisiana continue to move toward launches while Arizona is still trying to get all of its operators live.

As always, keep an eye on @LSPReport on Twitter for any breaking news and updates.

The launch of online Connecticut sportsbooks is less than two weeks away, but a retail launch is likely to happen first.

The two tribal casinos are allowed to launch retail betting before the states official start date of Oct. 7. That is the case only once their amended compacts are published in the Federal Register, though.

That happened for the Mohegan Indians earlier this month. The Mashantucket Pequots updated compact was published in Mondays edition.

According to a spokesperson from Gov. Ned Lamonts office, it should take about a week to get everything in line for a tribal retail launch. That means the Mohegan Indians and partner FanDuel Sportsbook should be ready to take bets already.

Foxwoods and DraftKings Sportsbook, meanwhile, could get a couple of days of retail betting under their belts next week before the online launch next Thursday.

PlaySugarHouse will be the third and final online brand in the state. Rush Street Interactive won the bid to partner with the Connecticut Lottery.

The Ohio Senate thinks it has the right plan for sports betting in the Buckeye State.

The most recent proposal for Ohio sportsbooks was attached to a voter ID bill. It already passed the House, but that chamberrejected the proposed amendments related to sports betting after the Senate passed them in June.

Now, the Senate is insisting on those amendments, which should lead to a conference committee.

The Ohio legislature runs through the end of December so there is still time to pass a bill.

After tough sledding around the US sports betting industry through July, Nevada will report Thursday whether its sportsbooks bounced back in August.

Handle fell 25% in July compared to June, but the $409.7 million bet still set a record for the month. Sports betting revenue also set a July record with $33.3 million.

So far, 12 jurisdictions reported their August results. Total US handle reported from August is $1.6 billion so far, up 11.2% from July. Revenue remains sluggish, down 9.3% to $125.3 million.

Elsewhere, Station Casinos is in hot water with Nevada regulators. The operator allegedly took 348 bets on completed events over a three-year span.

DraftKings came off the top rope with a $22 billion bid for Entain, the 50-50 joint venture partner of MGM Resorts in BetMGM.

DraftKings offered a 46% premium on Entains Sept. 20 closing price with an offer of 2,800 pence per share. UK-based Entain rejected an initial offer of 2,500 pence per share from DraftKings already.

MGM Resorts would have to consent to any deal in which Entain becomes a competing US operator. Entain turned down an $11 billion offer from MGM earlier this year, saying the bid dramatically undervalued the company.

It sounds like an October launch for online Maryland sportsbooks might be out of the question.

John Martin, the director of Marylands gaming regulator, hopes final regulations are in place by early November. The 17 retail licenses could then be issued to launch sports betting by late fall.

PointsBet asked for a formal rule to launch sportsbooks in unison at a public meeting last week. The NBA, MLB and PGA Tour all support an official league data requirement, an MLB rep added.

FanDuel hopes the stories of a former problem gambler will help others after hiring Craig Carton as a national responsible gaming ambassador.

Carton was convicted on felony fraud charges in 2018:

The former WFAN host was accused of fleecing millions of dollars from sports and entertainment promotion companies by buying large blocks of concert tickets and selling them on the secondary market.

Prosecutors say Carton used investor money to pay off gambling debts and other personal expenses.

More than ever, I want to use my experience and platform to shine a meaningful spotlight on the issue of problem gambling, Carton said. It was important to me that I find a real partnership with a company that shared my passion for this issue.

Endeavor is buying into sports betting, and the stock is winning – MarketWatch

Posted: at 5:20 pm

Endeavor Group Holdings Inc. is doubling down on its sports-gambling bet, and investors seem to like it.

Endeavor EDR, +0.33%, parent company of the William Morris and IMG agencies as well as UFC, announced Monday afternoon that it has agreed to pay $1.2 billion for OpenBet, a division of Scientific Games Corp. SGMS, +2.05% that provides platforms for regulated sports-betting apps. OpenBet customers include DraftKings DKNG, +0.12%, Flutter Entertainment PLCs FLTR, -0.97% FanDuel and Wynn Resorts Ltd.s WYNN, +3.02% WynnBet, Endeavor said. Endeavor already owns IMG ARENA, a service that provides live video streams and some data for sports events, and plans to combine those entities into a single-stream option for sportsbooks and other customers.

OpenBet marks a strategic addition to our sports betting portfolio as we look to round out our technology and product offering for sportsbook operators and sports brands worldwide, Chief Executive Ariel Emanuel said in a statement Monday. The combination of OpenBet and our IMG ARENA business will enable us to expand our footprint across the entire sports betting value chain and further capitalize on the tremendous upside we see coming from this fast-growing global industry.

Endeavor stock jumped nearly 8% higher in after-hours trading following the announcement Monday afternoon. Scientific Games stock also received a boost, gaining more than 5% in the extended session.

Endeavor said it would pay $1 billion in cash for OpenBet, with another $200 million in its own stock. The parties expect the transaction to close in the second quarter of 2022.

Kansas Sports Betting – Is it Legal? Everything You Need On Kansas Sport – Basketball Insiders

Posted: at 5:20 pm

Sports betting in Kansas is not quite as black and white as one would hope. Theyve been incredibly close to fully opening their doors to betting within the state, but like so many others before them, have had to put all that hard work on hold until 2022 thanks to COVID.

In the meantime, you can legally bet online with any offshore sportsbook that accepts players who reside in Kansas. Weve created this guide to highlight everything you need to know about Kansas sports betting and where you can do it both legally and safely.

Below weve included a list of the top Kansas online sports betting sites. Youre going to get a quick overview of the betting site along with the welcome offer and rating. Keep reading as we dive a little deeper and give you reviews for the top five.

One of the areas that we pride ourselves on at Basketball Insiders is our reviews. Weve created a team that reviews each online sports betting site in Kansas and highlights what we like and dont like.

Weve then ranked the sites in order of our preference, but please remember that you need to take note of the betting site that works best for you. Use our reviews as a guide and then decide which fits your betting needs the most.

Our top pick for sports betting in Kansas has to be that of MyBookie. This is a brand thats going from strength to strength and every time that we seem to do a new review, theyve changed so much.and almost always for the better.

The sportsbook is fully accessible for Kansas residents as an offshore option, meaning you can legally create an account with them. Once your account is open you then get access to an incredible range of promotions, none better than the $1,000 sign-up bonus that you claim with your initial deposit.

One of the (many) reasons why we rate MyBookie as number one is the range of sports on offer. The big guns like basketball, baseball and football are all covered amazingly well, but its the likes of NASCAR, boxing, UFC, Golf and Tennis that really stood out when testing.

To tie it all in, everything from odds to betting lines just simply works. One of the biggest compliments that we can pay them is there are very few negatives, and we can see MyBookie being very hard to beat for a number of years if they keep this sort of form up.

Pros

Cons

Bovada comes in at second on the list and to be honest, theyre as good as MyBookie with very little to separate the two. Weve been big fans of the brand for a while now and theyre about as experienced a sportsbook as youre going to find.

The design of Bovada is one that we love. Its super clean and its almost like a no-nonsense approach to sports betting. We wouldnt insult them by saying its no-frills, but the clean style makes a nice change from most other sportsbooks.

With Bovada you get access to a huge range of sports to bet on. There is more of an international feel here than most, with sports such as cricket, soccer, rugby, snooker and Aussie Rules, all complementing the US base that makes up the majority of markets.

Couple all this with great betting lines, odds and promotions, and its easy to see why Bovada is one of the best Kansas sports betting sites in the state.

Pros

Cons

BetOnline is another stalwart of the betting scene across the US and we are happy to say that they are able to accept players from Kansas.

The sportsbook is huge. They cover a huge number of games from a lot of sports, so like the other two, there is always plenty going on.

For us, the highlight is without doubt the odds. We test all sportsbooks on their odds, simply by taking a group of random bets and then comparing them to see how they get on. No sportsbook came out on top more times than BetOnline from our tests.

Weve been fortunate enough to work with BetOnline and review them previously, and the same instances occurred then as it does now. If you want a sportsbook with the best odds most of the time, then this is the site for you.

Pros

Cons

Sportsbetting.ag was another relatively easy pick for our best Kansas sports betting sites. They do an awful lot well and whilst we realize that this site wont be everyones cup of tea, for the hardy bettors amongst you, youll probably quite like this one.

The first thing youll notice is the range of betting lines to choose from. You get spread bets, money line, total points and team points for almost all NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB matches, along with other popular sports.

We liked the integration of their sports news section, and a lot of the articles are tied to betting, giving up odds and even advice on who to potentially bet on. They also have a decent enough futures betting section, which ties nicely in with a lot of the betting articles focussing on the week ahead.

Pros

Cons

BetUS can be placed just about anywhere on this list. Theyve got one of the best-looking sites for sure and we think that this will tick a lot of boxes for the younger generation of sports bettors.

Its not all style over substance though and the market coverage is one of the best that we have tested. We like that they arent just about US sports and include a ton from around the world, which is great to see.

Finally, BetUS is one of the best when it comes to promotions and offers. Their welcome offer is worth up to $2,000 plus you get a risk-free bet included as well.

Cons

Cons

With so much going on, we wanted to break down the sportsbooks that weve listed above. Below you can see a table with a load of information on things that we think youre going to want to compare. Use the table as best you can to find online sports betting in Kansas.

The cold hard facts are that sports betting is not legal in Kansas. There have been many attempts to get this overturned over the last few years and prior to COVID hitting they were incredibly close to making it one of the now many legal states in the US.

However, like so many of them at the minute, there is very little movement and its likely not something that is going to be passed before 2022. Kansas has seen their Senate pass a bill to allow both retail and mobile sports wagering. However, a committee hearing on this has been adjourned twice because of COVID so nothing has been set.

But there is an option for people in Kansas to bet online and that comes from offshore betting. This is where sportsbooks, like the ones that weve included on this page, will accept players from Kansas since sports betting is not illegal.

Like a lot of US States, sports betting is not illegal on sites that are located outside of Kansas. As long as these sites will accept Kansas players, then it is legal to use them without the worry of prosecution.

Gambling taxes are relatively high in the state and come in no lower than 5% regardless of income or marital status. Casinos have to currently pay at least 27% on profits but this number will likely be adjusted should sport betting be approved.

Tax under the new legislation should it pass has been a hot topic for debate. Initially, this was set to 10% for online sports betting, but the house was pushing for 20%.

Sports betting in Kansas allows you to bet on any and every sport in the world. The only limitation on what you can bet on will be the Kansas sports betting site that you choose to bet with.

Some of the most popular sports are that of American football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey, soccer, tennis NASCAR and boxing.

Horse racing is usually a separate entity from that of most main sportsbooks. Of course, you can bet on this as well, but you will likely need to access a dedicated section of the sportsbook to do so.

eSports betting is taking off around the US and youre going to be able to get access to a huge range of games and markets. The biggest games are League of Legends, Counter-Strike and more recently, Fortnite.

Most sportsbooks are cashing in on the popularity of these games and in turn, are offering massive coverage for tournaments all over the world. The majority of Kansas sports betting sites will have access to this and you should be looking to take advantage of these betting opportunities.

Youre going to enjoy a lot of betting markets from the sportsbooks that weve outlined on this page. These include:

Bonuses are one of the most important things to consider when you choose a new sportsbook. All bonuses come with a range of Ts and Cs attached which makes some more lucrative than others.

Matched deposit bonuses are the most common and for this, the sportsbook will match your initial deposit in the form of a bonus. An example of this would be the welcome offer from MyBookie where they will match your first deposit 100% up to $1,000.

Free bets are another common bonus and for this, the sportsbook will allow you to have a bet at their expense. Its unusual that they just give these away, so you usually must make a deposit and place a bet before they will give you a free bet to use.

No deposit bets are where the sportsbook will give you money for free. You read that right, just for signing up they will apply bonus money into your account without having to deposit any cash. Its worth noting that these are very rare but highly lucrative, so if you do come across an offer like this, snap it up.

Mobile betting is going to be an option for you when sports betting in Kansas. In fact, all the sportsbooks that weve recommended on this page include brilliant mobile betting options.

Some of the apps will need to be downloaded directly from your respected app store, however, not all of them are on there. To get access aside from the app store simply, visit the sportsbook in your mobile browser and you will be redirected to where you need to be.

Youre going to get access to both live betting and live streaming in Kansas, although the latter is quite rare. For streaming, youre going to be looking at the likes of horse racing for the most part as none of the options that we recommend can live stream other sports.

Live betting on the other hand is much more accessible. This is where youre going to make good money if youre able to spot trends in games and then reacting within the live betting market.

We spend an awful lot of time reviewing Kansas sports betting sites. As part of our review process, we have wats that we review each sportsbook, and this allows us to compare them before finally getting results. Below are some of the criteria that we use.

Market coverage is very important as this offers depth for the sportsbook. We include looking at the number of sports on offer as well as the number of markets that you can bet on to be included with this.

Bovada is probably the best in the business when it comes to the range of markets. They have more than most sportsbooks and also cover more sports than most as well.

Bonuses are one of the main reasons that we encourage people to choose a certain sportsbook. Some can be highly lucrative and have thousands of dollars at stake to add to your bankroll.

The best offer at the minute has to be that of MyBookie, with up to $1,000 in bonus cash up for grabs linked to your first deposit at the sportsbook.

Getting money safely in and out of the sportsbook is imperative. We look to see which sportsbooks are offering the best range of banking options and who are thinking outside of the box, with the likes of Bitcoin and mobile payment methods such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

All the sportsbooks that we cover on this page are fully licensed and they have incredibly high security as a result. We conduct our own tests, but most licenses will only be distributed to sites that have gone through rigorous testing for security and safety.

Casino falls under the same banner as sports in that it is not illegal to play casino games. The requirements are that you need to do this on sites that are based offshore and accept players who reside in Kansas.

Most of the sportsbooks that weve spoken about and reviewed on this page include an online casino of sorts. You will be able to access this once you have created your account and logged in.

Kansas includes a number of land-based gambling activities throughout the state. Below weve listed what is currently accessible within each gambling sector.

Kansas has a thriving land-based casino sector. The casinos are widely regarded as some of the best in the country and many people flock from neighbouring states just to use them.

There used only be tribal-run casinos, but in 2007 the government authorizes 4 private casinos to be built in plots operated within the state. In total, there are now 9 casinos in the following locations:

Horse racing is a much-loved sport in Kansas. There are three tracks that are currently active within the state and at each, you are able to place trackside bets. Horse racing betting is not linked to online sports betting, so the legislation that allows this is different.

The three horse racing tracks are:

Daily Fantasy Sports is in fact legal in the state of Kansas. Its been legal since May 2015 and players are able to sign up with sites that are both based offshore and any that are based within the state of Kansas.

The reason behind the rules being different here is that by federal law they do not see DFS as being gambling and instead requires skill to be good at it.

Horse racing betting in Kansas is one of the few things that are legal within the state. There arent any tracks open at the time of writing, but you can access sites that host horse racing betting, which is one of the main reasons why most of the sportsbooks on this page have separate sections altogether for horse racing.

Sports betting in Kansas is likely going to be approved in the not-too-distant future. COVID has done passing the bill no favours, but given how close they were to get it through the first time, it shouldnt create too many stumbling blocks this time around.

For the time being, players in Kansas are still able to enjoy online betting sites which are based offshore. This is by no means illegal as long as the betting site accepts players from the state. The relaxation of online gambling in the state is likely going to be huge and we would expect to see the state thrive within the sector once the doors open.

Is online sports betting legal in Kansas?

It is not legal, but you are able to access sports betting sites that are based offshore. There is no illegality over betting on sites that are not based in Kansas or other banned states within the US.

What is the legal gambling age in Kansas?

You need to be 18 to bet on the lottery and 21 or over to bet on things like online casinos, sports betting, and horse racing.

Is mobile sports betting available in Kansas?

Yes, you can access mobile sports betting options for sites that are based offshore and accepting players who are based in Kansas.

Where can I bet on sports in Kansas?

There are plenty of sportsbooks that will accept players from Kansas. Our top-rated include MyBookie, Bovada and BetOnline.

CT Sports Betting Inches Closer With Second Compact Ready – Legal Sports Report

Posted: at 5:20 pm

One of the last crucial steps before the launch of online CT sports betting should be completed by Monday morning.

That is the publication of the amended compact between the state of Connecticut and the Mashantucket Pequot Indians in the Federal Register. The compact was uploaded to the Public Inspection part of the Federal Register Friday with a Monday publish date.

The Mohegan Indians compact was published in the Sept. 15 edition of the Federal Register. While it is not clear why it took nearly two more weeks for the Mashantucket Pequot compact, it does not matter at this point.

The publication of both compacts means online CT sportsbooks can launch Oct. 7 in time for Week 5 NFL betting.

While the online industry launches Oct. 7, it is likely the first legal bets in the state will be made before then. That is because retail betting can take place on tribal land about a week after that tribes compact is published, a spokesman for Gov. Ned Lamont told LSR.

That means Mohegan Sun could be close to taking its first bet. A picture posted Thursday by the CT Mirror displays Mohegan Tribal Chairman James Gessner Jr. showing Lamont FanDuel Sportsbook-branded kiosks in the casino.

Foxwoods, meanwhile, could take its first retail bets through DraftKings Sportsbook around Oct. 4, based on that timeline.

Both casinos are playing their cards relatively close to the chest on when a retail launch might take place.

Another important step was checked off the list Thursday when the states self-exclusion program went live.

The program technically only protects problem gamblers from state-licensed gaming like the PlaySugarHouse sportsbook that will be launched by the Connecticut Lottery.

Both tribes told the CT Mirror they plan to honor the states self-exclusion list, though, on top of maintaining their own.

There have been no updates from either New York or Massachusetts concerning sports betting, so the Oct. 7 launch is for those bettors too.

The New York State Gaming Commission decided it does not need to hear oral presentations from the six applicants looking to win licenses to launch online NY sportsbooks.

Massachusetts, meanwhile, has made no progress on legalizing MA sports betting since the House passed their bill in July. That led to Gov. Charlie Baker calling for action on Twitter earlier this month.

Specific sports betting rules that bettors have to be aware of – The Jerusalem Post

Posted: at 5:20 pm

Despite the fact that online casinos are growing in popularity every day, many people still prefer to bet on sports. As a result, most gambling websites that offer casino games also have fully-fledged sportsbooks. Unlike the casinos, where operators can be more innovative, there arent that many game-changing things that companies can invent when it comes down to bookmakers. Thats why most operators focus on providing their clients with more features and bonuses.

Speaking of the devil, there are different kinds of sports promotions that customers may have the chance to test. Despite the fact that every brand has unique sports proposals, some of them have similar conditions, which we will take a look at in this review.

Some sports bonuses do not work for every sport

Most punters wont have problems because they were going to bet on these sports anyway. However, clients who are interested in other options wont be able to take advantage of the bonuses and the things they offer.

The minimum odds

Another common sports promo condition many players have to deal with is related to the minimum odds they have to bet on. Regardless of whether they use Fractional, Decimal, American, or any other available odds formats, every market offers specific odds that customers can bet on. Typically, the lower the odds, the more likely it is to predict the specific option.

In order to prevent their clients from wagering only on lower odds, some of the big names in the gambling business decided to add a minimum odds limit. Thats why punters shouldnt be surprised when they start using the Bwin offers from Nostrabet and realize that they cant choose every market.

Clients who dont comply with this requirement wont be able to complete the rollover requirements because their bet wont qualify for it. Thats why experienced punters read the Terms and Conditions before they start playing.

The free bets usually work for specific markets

Even though there are different sports betting promotions, some online bookmakers offer free bets because they know their customers like them. Thats why sports bettors will probably have the option to pick from several types of free bets while enjoying their favorite hobby.

Most sports promotions cant be used in conjunction with any other bonuses

Last but not least, one of the common conditions that clients have to comply with is that they cant use a given sports offer alongside any other bonus. It doesnt matter whether this offer is for the casino or the sportsbook - the fact that the customers have an active promotion means that they have to complete the specific requirements for it before they are eligible for another reward.

Clients who dont complete this regulation will lose their active promo, as well as any progress made towards the rollover requirements. Needless to say, most users wouldnt want to do that.

Mohegan Sun at 25: Numbers are up, and that’s before sports betting begins – Westfair Online

Posted: at 5:20 pm

These are heady times for Mohegan Sun. Not only is the casino nearing its 25th anniversary on Oct. 12, it is also girding for the long-awaited arrival of legalizing iGaming and sports wagering that same month, while it has apparently recovered from the impact of Covid-19 and then some.

Weve taken all the steps necessary to make sure our visitors are safe, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment President and CEO Ray Pineault told the Business Journal, saying the Uncasville casino went above and beyond the protocols established by the CDC and state and local governments to rebuild visitors confidence.

We continue to put protocols in place and maintain a culture centered on our guests safety, he said, and weve been pleased with the results.

As well the company should be. For the quarter ended June 30, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) which in addition to the flagship Connecticut location operates Mohegan Sun Poconos in Pennsylvania; Fallsview in Niagara Falls, Canada; Mohegan Sun Casino at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, which officially opened on March 25; and, scheduled for 2023, the Inspire Entertainment Resort in Incheon, South Korea posted net revenues of $328.2 million, a 206% increase over Q3 2020; income from operations of $64 million versus a $20.5 million loss in the previous third quarter; and adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of $101.7 million, a 1,111.2% increase.

As for Mohegan Suns pending 25th anniversary, Pineault calls it a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team members many of whom he said have been with the organization since it first opened its doors as well as the confidence shown by the tribe in building such a fantastic organization.

The casino will allow members of its Momentum loyalty program to participate in a collect and win promotion throughout the month of October, where cardholders can earn a swipe at the 25th anniversary kiosks for a chance to win free slot play prizes and up to $50,000 in cash.

It is also offering a $250,000 Anniversary Slot Sweepstakes, where guests can vie for a share of $250,000 in cash by playing their favorite slots, as well as high-rolling private blackjack, slot and Baccarat tournaments will also be hosted for VIP gamers.

Over the Oct. 22-24 weekend, Harry Styles and Blake Shelton will each headline the 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena, while Run-DMC will play the 300-seat Wolf Den. Yet-to-be-named celebrities are scheduled to attend a VIP party at the resorts latest addition, the TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge.

While sports wagering is scheduled to begin in Connecticut on Oct. 7, Pineault said Mohegan Sun may not be joining in on that date.

We would rather roll it out properly than too quickly, he said. We want to make sure the experience is a good one for our guests.

Still, he said, Obviously NFL football is huge for sports wagering.

According to an August article in the Washington Post, the league and its teams expect to generate about $270 million in revenue this year from their sports-betting and gambling deals. It also quoted NFL Chief Strategy and Growth Officer Christopher Halpin as saying, You can definitely see the market growing to $1 billion-plus of league opportunity over this decade.

The Legal Sports Betting website has appraised overall sports betting at $150 billion a year, and this is assumed to be a conservative estimate.

Gambling news website PlayCT has reported that the Nutmeg State could evolve into a market that generates more than $1.5 billion in annual sports wagers and more than $100 million in operator revenue, while online casinos could generate as much as $350 million in gross gaming revenues annually.

Connecticut is a relatively small state, but the market has a handful of attributes that should help it punch a bit above its weight, said Eric Ramsey, analyst for the PlayUSA.com network, which includes PlayCT.com. Geographically, the state is in a good place, with the potential to draw significant out-of-state business from New York and Massachusetts. And Connecticut features one of the highest median household incomes in the U.S.

Connecticuts legislation imposes an 18% tax on new online, or iGaming, gambling for the first five years, and a 20% tax rate for at least the following five years. There is also a 13.75% tax rate to be levied on sports wagering.

That market represents a huge opportunity for us as well as tax revenue for the state, Pineault affirmed. We think the state will be pleased with the results we see.

Meanwhile, MGE has undergone something of a C-suite shuffle over the past several months. Pineault was elevated from Mohegan Sun president and general manager to MGE chief operating officer in August 2020, then became interim president and CEO in March 2021 upon the sudden exit of Mario Kontomerkos; he was given the permanent title in May.

Also in March, Carol Anderson, previously senior vice president Treasury, Capital Markets and associate general counsel at Scientific Games in Las Vegas, took over as MGEs chief financial officer, replacing Kelly McKinnon, who had only held the post since October 2020.

And early in September, Jody Madigan, a former general manager at the Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville, Louisiana, took over the COO role at MGE.

Pineault said that, despite the appearance of upheaval, the many changes were nothing to be alarmed by.

Asked about additional expansion, he said, As an organization we are always looking at opportunities. There is nothing to announce at this time, but we have several irons in the fire.

UFC Vegas 38 Odds, Picks and Betting Preview Thiago Santos vs Johnny Walker – Sports Betting Dime

Posted: at 5:20 pm

Thiago Santos takes on Johnny Walker in the main event of UFC Vegas 38 in Las Vegas. Can Santos take down Walker as the favorite?

After being in front of a sold-out crowd at the T-Mobile Arena last weekend, the UFC returns to the UFC Apex in Las Vegas for UFC Vegas 38 on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021. In the main event, light heavyweights collide as Thiago Santos looks to snap his losing streak as he battles flashy striker Johnny Walker. Santos is narrowly favored at -170 to beat Walker in the UFC Vegas 38 odds.

UFC Vegas 38 airs live on ESPN+ with the main card at 7 PM EST. The table below shows odds for the main card at DraftKings followed by best bets.

Make sure to check out the latest sportsbook promos before placing your bets for UFC Vegas 38.

All odds as of Sept. 27 at DraftKings

Thiago Santos enters this fight on a three-fight losing streak, but he has been fighting elite-level competition, including taking Jon Jones to a split decision for the belt. Against Jones, he tore both his knees, which kept him out for over a year, and after that, he lost to Glover Teixeira and Aleksandar Rakic. Johnny Walker, meanwhile, has all the hype in the world, and if he can beat Santos, hed be right there for a title shot.

When Walker was fighting Anderson, he had all the hype in the world, and many were talking about him giving Jon Jones trouble. Yet, Anderson showed the Brazilian doesnt have the best chin, and Krylov exposed his wrestling as he held the Brazilian down for 15 minutes. Even in his win, Spann dropped and hurt Walker a few times, which is a concern against a heavy hitter in Santos.

Although Santos is on a three-fight losing streak, he did nearly KO Teixeira, and against Jones, he had some success. Prior to the setbacks, though, he showed off his KO power but finishing the now-champ in Blachowicz, Jimi Manuwa, and Eryk Anders.

Thiago Santos is a former middleweight who has since moved up and has become a full-size light heavyweight. The Brazilian has legit one-punch KO power as at middleweight he even holds stoppage wins over Jack Hermansson and Anthony Smith.

Early on, I expect Walker to come out aggressive and look for the KO shot. Santos, meanwhile, will be patient and use his leg kicks and jab to try and find his range to land the KO shot. I do expect Walker to have some moments in the first round and win it. However, in the second round, Santos will start to become the aggressor and catch Walker with a big shot. I expect Santos to finish him with ground and pound to win by TKO. Santos to win inside the distance by KO or TKO will have much better value than his moneyline odds at UFC Vegas 38.

Pick: Thiago Santos (-170)

Kevin Holland was the star of 2020 going 5-0 but in 2021, he was outwrestled by Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori showing a big hole in his game in his takedown defense and his jiu-jitsu off his back. Now, he faces an unranked fighter in Daukaus who could be fighting for his UFC job.

The first couple minutes of this fight should be able to tell you how it will go. Theres no question Daukaus will shoot for a takedown early, and if he gets it and Holland cant get off his back, it will be another loss for Holland due to his wrestling. Yet, if he does stuff it, he is the better striker and will be able to piece up Daukaus on the feet.

Ultimately, I dont think Hollands takedown defense has improved enough to stop the takedowns of Daukaus. I expect Daukaus to shoot for the legs early and often to control the fight and win a decision.

Pick: Kyle Daukaus (+130)
