A DNA match led Columbus police yesterday afternoon to arrest a man at his South Linden home in the rape of a 13-year-old girl who was assaulted while waiting for a school bus.

Antonio J. Fillmore, 36, of 2321 Gerbert Rd., is charged with two counts of rape. Columbus police accuse him of the Tuesday morning sexual assault of the girl behind a vacant house in North Linden.

Fillmore was in the Franklin County jail last night and is scheduled to appear this morning in municipal court.

The girl, a Columbus middle-school student, was approached by a man about 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, as she waited alone for her school bus near the corner of Dresden Street and Myrtle Avenue.

She told police that the man a stranger to her struck up a conversation and then forced her behind the nearby vacant house at 1452 Myrtle Ave.

Fillmore, who is 5-foot-8 and 255 pounds, hit the girl in her face and grabbed her by her mouth while he raped her, court documents say.

The key to breaking the case was DNA evidence from the crime scene that was tested by the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The DNA matched a sample taken from Fillmore, Columbus police said.

All people convicted of felonies, and anyone arrested on a felony in Ohio since 2011, are required to have their DNA entered in a state database, said Dan Tierney, a spokesman with the state attorney generals office.

Tierney said that when a case is considered to be urgent, the state bureau will expedite the DNA analysis.

DNA leads police to suspect in schoolgirls rape

BEIJING, April 5 -- DNA will be collected from the remains of Chinese soldiers killed in the 1950-53 Korean War, official sources have said.

The remains of 437 Chinese People's Volunteer (CPV) soldiers were brought from the Republic of Korea (ROK) to China last week to rest in a "martyrs' park" in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

A database will identify the dead and DNA tests will be available on request from relatives of the soldiers, said an unidentified official with the veterans bureau of the Civil Affairs Ministry Saturday.

China has been working with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to protect (CPV) memorials in the DPRK. Renovation of CPV cemeteries in the DPRK will begin this year.

More than 2 million CPV soldiers fought alongside the DPRK army in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. Some 180,000 of them were believed killed, with most buried in the DPRK or ROK.

Last year on a trip to China, ROK President Park Geun-hye offered to return the remains of 437 CPV soldiers to China. The two sides had an initial consultation in Seoul and reached agreement on the transfer in December of last year and excavation commenced. In Beijing in January, the protocol for the return of the remains was agreed and a transfer ceremony was held on March 28 at Incheon International Airport, when the coffins and belongings of the fallen were passed to a Chinese delegation.

The remains were previously buried at a cemetery in the ROK border city of Paju and most have not been identified. This is the first move in long-term cooperation on return of CPV remains from the ROK.

According to agreements between China and the DPRK, the bodies of soldiers killed and buried in the DPRK, including Mao Anying, son of Mao Zedong, will not be returned to China.

China has 25,000 domestic war memorials and others in 20 countries. More efforts will be devoted to protecting these war memorials, the official said.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) The next-door neighbor accused of robbing and fatally shooting two sisters in their East Liberty home earlier this year has been ordered to stand trial.

At a hearing Friday morning, prosecutors introduced evidence, which they say implicates him in the case; however, Allen Wades lawyers say it doesnt prove anything.

It was an unsolved murder mystery for weeks.

Now that they have a suspect, the evidence was finally outlined.

Included in hat evidence is a DNA report that says theres a more than six-trillion likelihood that Wades DNA was found under Susan Wolfes thumbnail, as well as a more than quintillion likelihood that other DNA is Wades.

His attorney wants to know more.

Id be eager to get the scientist that performed the DNA test on the stand to see how he broke that down, said attorney Blaine Jones. How he arrived at that number.

Sarah and Susan Wolfe were found dead in their home on Chislett Street on Feb. 7. Theyd been shot in the head.
