Another rape complaint was filed by a woman on Wednesday against Vhong Navarro amid the controversy involving the actor-host and model Deniece Cornejo, who has accused him of sexually assaulting her. The rape charge was filed around 4 p.m. at the Pasig City Prosecutor's Office by the alleged victim and her legal counsel, Atty. Virgilio Batalla. In a phone interview on "Aquino and Abunda Tonight" on Wednesday night, Batalla said the alleged rape took place in 2010. Dahil nakita niya na puwede palang mangyari ito nang paulit-ulit sa ibang babae katulad niya," he said, referring to the case of Cornejo. Cornejo filed a rape complaint against Navarro last January 29. In her affidavit, she claimed that the actor forced her to perform oral sex on him and tried to insert his penis in her vagina on January 22, the night the group of businessman Cedric Lee allegedly came to her rescue. Navarro denied this, saying he was set up by Cornejo for an extortion attempt allegedly led by Lee. The actor said he was blindfolded, tied up and attacked by at least six men inside Cornejo's condominium unit in Taguig. The actor has since filed six criminal charges against Cornejo and Lee's group: serious physical injuries, grave threat, grave coercion, unlawful arrest, blackmail, and serious illegal detention, which is a non-bailable offense. Lee, in a January 28 interview on radio DZMM, claimed that several other women aside from Cornejo were willing to come forward and say that Navarro also molested them. Asked by host Boy Abunda if he knows of ties between his client and Lee, Batalla said, "Wala po akong alam." Noting he cannot disclose his client's name without her consent, the lawyer added, "Ang kaso po ay nakasampa na at kami po ay naghihintay ng tamang proseso ng batas para magbigay ng detalye sa kasong ito." Navarro's lawyer, however, downplayed the new rape complaint. "Gusto lang namin sabihin na kahit naman sino ay puwede mag-kaso. Ang tanong ay kaya mo ba patunayan iyung paratang? May ebidensya ka ba?" Atty. Alma Mallonga said in a separate interview on "Aquino and Abunda Tonight." She said the filing was "not unexpected." Mallonga questioned the motive and timing of the new complaint. "Some weeks ago, Cedric (was) saying that he's been talking to some women and I understand that his lawyer has said na mayroon silang pasabog," Mallonga revealed. "Hindi kami nagulat kasi intindi pa nga namin that this is just the first of others," she added. Mallonga also responded to speculation that the new case was inspired by Cornejo's allegations against the actor. "If you're saying that you were inspired by the rape complaint of Deniece, alam na natin na hindi iyun nangyari. Impossible dahil nakita natin sa ating dalawang mata na hindi iyon nangyari, that you cannot rape who was not there. You cannot witness a rape when the victim is not even there," she said. Mallonga said Navarro is aware of the new case and the actor is keen on facing the charges and proving his innocence. "This has made him more determined to see this thing through," she said. The Department of Justice's second hearing on the cases filed by Navarro and Cornejo is scheduled on February 21. Human rights groups demand answers after Erykah Badu performs for Swaziland dictator

Posted: at 9:40 am

Human rights groups are crying foul after American R&B singer Erykah Badu sang Happy Birthday and gave gifts to Africas last absolute monarch, King Mswati III of Swaziland.

The 43-year-old Texan attended the kings 46th birthday party on Thursday, where she sang Happy Birthday and dedicated her first song to the sons of Kings, The Washington Post reported.

The singer gave Mswati a gift of a $100 note and a special stone which she said would uplift His Majestys spirits when he was feeling down, the Swazi Observer reported.

Miss Badu has been involved in a number of philanthropic ventures, including Artists for a New South Africa, which works to advance human rights, but human rights groups are calling her visit to Swaziland hypocritical.

Jeffrey Smith, an advocacy officer at the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, told The Post that it was highly unfortunate that someone of Erykah Badus international stature would use her star power for inherently reprehensible reasons namely, to provide legitimacy, and, in a sense, endorse a brutal dictator who both manages and directs every facet of Africas last absolute monarchy.

Journalist Bkheki Makhubu and human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko are currently imprisoned in Swaziland. They are on trial for contempt of court after calling the independence of Swazilands judicial system into question in a series of articles in The Nation, the countrys only independent media outlet, the Human Rights Foundation reported.

The authenticity of Badus philanthropic efforts is called into question by her celebration of Mswati, said the foundations director of institutional affairs, Alex Gladstein, in a press release. She claims to want to improve the lives of the disenfranchised and impoverished, but unapologetically does favors for a corrupt tyrant who jails those who challenge his ill-gotten wealth and power. She should be the first in line asking the king to release Makhubu and Maseko.

She owes us all an explanation, Mr. Gladstein said in the statement. The king is a kleptocrat who lives in the lap of obscene luxury while most of his countrymen toil in abject poverty for less than $2 a day. Badus performance for him is a slap in the face of all human rights defenders inside Swaziland and is a mockery of Badus work inside the U.S.

The United Nations says 63 percent of the kingdoms population live on less than $1.25 a day, and allegations of torture and other human rights abuses are widespread.

On Monday, Miss Badu tweeted: I have no political affiliation to anything besides my AFRO. However, I will stand with any group opposing injustice. But not on twitter.

Is your wearable tech watching you?

A Google Glass wearer poses at the Belgium's Google headquarters in Brussels. Are these the start of a wearables revolution?

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

Editor's note: Gerd Leonhard is a futurist, speaker and CEO of TheFuturesAgency, based in Basel, Switzerland. He is also the host and creator of The Future Show, which you can watch here. Follow Gerd on Twitter. The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely those of Gerd Leonhard.

Basel (CNN) -- Imagine a world where computing becomes invisible, like your thoughts. A world where the interface between our senses, our minds and brains, and a digital device that emulates human traits or which augments our own capabilities becomes seamless, and the border between "it" and "us" becomes opaque.

Imagine instant access to the world's data and content, without typing or without even searching -- think GoogleNow x100, projected onto your iris. The power of IBM's Watson at the disposal of every doctor, with a blink of an eye or a simple voice command. Anticipatory services that know what you need before you do. Constant reads of my body's status via my wristwatch.

Convenient. Incredible. Empowering. Beautiful. Addictive. Indispensable. Scary. Here soon.

Vast progress and vast curses

"Nothing vast enters the lives of mortals without a curse" Greek tragedian Sophocles once said. And plenty of curses are sure to emerge when it's about wearables, which are powered by big data, the cloud, artificial intelligence, not to forget good old-fashioned capitalism.

It is the danger of exponential unintended consequences we must start to consider, because we probably don't have the choice to "just say no" -- wearable computing is as certain as mobile phones.

In his 1964 book "Understanding Media," Marshall McLuhan famously called media "the extensions of man." If we can define wearables as "media" then, following mobile devices, wearables are the next logical step in this rapid evolution.
