[Video] Kanye West Explains Why He Brings Jesus On Stage During His Tour
Posted: October 22, 2013 at 4:43 pm
Dont you just love when Kanye is able to smile?
He has so many things to be happy about now that hes engaged, and he was grinning ear to ear as he stopped by Bay Area radio station WiLD 94.9 recently to talk about the controversy surrounding his decision to have a man dressed as Jesus out on stage during his concerts. During the brief sit-down, Kanye was grinning ear-to-ear and in a good mood as he talked about the Yeezus tour, while saying God knows his heart and his shows are no different than a stage play or piece of artwork. He also talked a little about the Illuminati, while saying that people who are distracted by it are the new slaves of this generation.
Catch the highlights:
On bringing Jesus out on stage during his Yeezus tour I had a friend of mine thats a pastor there as we started discussing how we wanted to deliver it. My girl even asked afterward, Hmmm, is that weird if he just comes on stage? No, we do plays all the time where people play Jesus. Whats awesome about Christianity is that were allowed to portray God. We are allowed to draw images of him, were allowed to make movies about him. Other religions, youre not allowed to do that. So thats whats really awesome about Christianity. Thats one of the awesome things.[...]Michelangelo did it.
Its a painting. Its a sculpture. Its a moving opera. Its a play. Im not even gonna do any comparisons with that because God knows where my heart is at.[...]Ima tell you one thing. One of the things I wanted to get across with that message is that you can have a relationship with Jesus, that you can talk to Jesus. This is my literalin the same way as someone can have Jesus is my homeboy, that is the way I would express it. In the way I create it is that you can have a relationship with Jesus. You can talk to him.
On being a Christian & wanting to be like Jesus The reason it was funny to say white Jesus is whether its a portrayal of what your image of something is. You know, all that matters is what you see and how you believe in you and how you love your family. Thats my opinion. The real opinions are in the Bible. This is my opinion and message for what Im dealing with right now.[...]Its funny because you hear the term black Jesus all the time, but you never hear the term white Jesus. Its just some Kanye West st really. The same way Will Ferrell gets up and he performs his stuff, Im a performance artist. Im a believer. Anytime that word Jesus can be used more in our lives, I believe its a good thing. So even if its a title Yeezuswhen I say this about my heroes, people wanna be like Mike, I want to be like Christ. I keep it five years old at all times. I think people have had all these boundaries of peoples opinions that hold them back to what they honestly want to create, so the biggest form about me having any form of portrayal of Jesus is I wanted to do it.
On the Illuminati controversy [Rapping "New Slaves"]See theyll confuse us with some bullst/Like the New World Order/Meanwhile the DEA teamed up with the CCA/They tryna lock nas up/They tryna make new slaves/See thats that privately owned prison/Get your piece today/They prolly all in the Hamptons/Bragging bout what they made/Fk you and your Hampton house/Ill fk your Hampton spouse/Came on her Hampton
[...] What that means is some of the distractions is working. They distractions are working. They distract you talking about some Thats Illuminati! Do anybody know what the Illuminati is supposed to be? What are you talking about right now? The word is a sexy word. You can make a cologne out of it or something like that.[...]Theres only two things on my mind when I create: God and Jesus.

Kanye West Talks Bringing Jesus On Tour, His 'White Voice,' And More
Posted: at 4:43 pm
Kanye appeared on Wild 94's JV Show in San Francisco after the first night of the Yeezus Tour to discuss bringing Jesus out, the illuminati, and his "white voice".
Kanye explains that after consulting with a pastor and putting on the first Yeezus show, Kim asked if it would be weird to bring out Jesus, but they concluded that Broadway shows portray Jesus on stage all the time, so there isn't really a difference. He also commented on how Christianity is great because the religion tolerates depictions of Jesus, while other religions (such as Islam) don't allow their participants to portray their god(s). He went on to describe the Yeezus tour as, "a painting, a sculpture, a moving opera, a play, a message". He finishes the first segment by telling the hosts that he wanted to show people that you can have a relationship with Jesus in the same way that "Jesus is My Homeboy" t-shirts aligned people with Christ.
In the second segment, Kanye talks about how perception, belief, and family love are the most important things to him. He says that he brought out a white Jesus because people always say "Black Jesus" but you never heard the phrase "White Jesus" being used, and he believes that: "Any time the word 'Jesus' can be used more in our lives, it's a good thing. Even if it's the title 'Yeezus'".
He goes on to say that where most people want to be like Mike, he wants to be like Christ, and he "keeps it five years old at all times". He goes on to dismiss rumors of Illuminati as "distractions" that are working against communities while real life agencies continue to conspire against people. When asked if he incorporates allusions to the Illuminati in his work to get people thinking, his response is, "There's only two things in my mind when I create: God and Jesus."
In the final part of the interview, Kanye admits to using his "white voice" when he conducts interviews with certain media platforms. He says that "in some magazines, it's a 'Dinner For Schmucks' situation: are they inviting you to be a part of what you're doing, or are they inviting you to laugh at your teeth?" He finishes by commenting on the class wars in America, claiming that he's at the forefront of a shift in the way information is consumed online.

Arms Treaty Stymied by Second Amendment Concerns in Senate
Posted: at 4:42 pm
By Niels Lesniewski Posted at 1:44 p.m. today
Tester said in a letter Monday that he opposes the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty. (Douglas Graham/CQ Roll Call File Photo)
A clear majority of senators now oppose the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
Because two-thirds of senators would be required to consent to ratification, the fate of the treaty was always in doubt. Now its unclear whether the Senate could even proceed to debate the measure.
Theres no way to filibuster a motion to take up a treaty, but a roll call vote may be required to go into executive session to consider it. That would require a simple majority, and it isnt at all clear the treaty which would establish new international standards related to trade in conventional weapons would get over that threshold.
In a Monday letter to President Barack Obama, Democratic Sens. John Tester and Max Baucus of Montana joined Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Joe Donnelly of Indiana in announcing opposition to the treaty that Secretary of State John Kerry signed on to on behalf of the Obama administration last month.
The four Democrats say that including small firearms and ammunition in the terms of the agreement makes the Treaty overly broad.
We take our constitutional obligation as U.S. Senators to provide advice and consent seriously. And although we appreciate the Administrations work to make this Treaty more amenable to the United States interests, we believe it falls short, the senators wrote. Because of unaddressed concerns that this Treatys obligations could undermine our nations sovereignty and the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans, we would oppose the Treaty if it were to come before the U.S. Senate.
The National Rifle Association, which has long opposed the treaty, praised the senators letter.
This letter sends a clear message to President Obama and Secretary Kerry that the Arms Trade Treaty will not receive the 67 votes in the U.S. Senate necessary for ratification, NRA Executive Director Chris W. Cox said in a Tuesday statement.

Letter: Universities should value free speech, not just for liberals
Posted: at 4:41 pm
It is not surprising that The University of Kansas faculty supported the right of their fellow professor, David Guth, to say he hopes the children of NRA members will be murdered. Its free speech, after all. Does anyone else notice how liberals come out of the woodwork to support the speech of one of their own, while striving to silence voices of conservatives?
Just this summer, a rodeo clown in Missouri was threatened with federal prosecution for his temerity to don an Obama mask. In typical fashion, the NAACP wanted him charged with a hate crime. He was banned from Missouri rodeos for life, and other rodeo clowns were forced to attend sensitivity classes reminiscent of communist Chinas re-education camps. No one cared when past clowns lampooned Reagan or the Bushes.
If professors truly esteem free speech, then why do the majority of universities have speech codes, specifically aimed to silence conservatives and Christians? There is no academic freedom when students at some universities have been expelled for their refusal to endorse homosexuality. Why have some universities, like the University of South Carolina, allowed meeting space to every group and club, except to Christian groups? Why are terrorists like Kathy Boudin, Howard Machtinger and President Barack Obamas friends Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn given professorships and allowed to enjoy their freedom of speech and academic freedom yet conservative and Christian students have no such freedoms on campuses throughout America?
We need to see universities for what they are liberal breeding grounds, full of 1960s elitists who generally despise conservatives and seek to weed out those who profess Christ. As liberals, they are the only ones truly deserving of free speech. Wake up, America this is who is educating and indoctrinating our children.

Guest commentary: Celebrating the Role of Newspapers in Protecting Free Speech
Posted: at 4:41 pm
Amid Free Speech Week, we ask: Where would we be as a nation without the freedom of speech?
After all, according to the annual State of the First Amendment survey, it is by far Americas favorite freedom and our most important right. In that survey, 47 percent voted for free speech, compared to 10 percent for the next closest right, freedom of religion. It is only appropriate that we dedicate a week to celebrating free speech.
The freedom to express ourselves and speak our minds is an inextricable part of a strong democracy. When you have a government directed by its citizens, it is critical that those citizens be engaged and informed. Indeed, our founding fathers recognized the critical need for the free flow of information.
It is equally important that citizens have the freedom and the avenue to challenge the government and its representatives, discuss key issues, and be absolutely assured that their voices are heard.
Newspapers provide that avenue and self-expression through guest opinion pieces and letters to the editor. We recognize the importance of publishing a diversity of viewpoints, as we only grow as a country and effectively address difficult issues if a variety of expertise, facts and opinions are shared.
Today, social media has been heralded as one of the greatest platforms for free speech and self-expression. Anyone can post whatever they want at their convenience, and it lives online for the whole world to see.
But when it comes to important matters, where citizens want to make sure that their thoughts and expertise are considered by the public and leaders alike, newspapers provide the platform to reach their community and influence their leaders.
We see this again and again, most recently when Vladimir Putin and John McCain spoke directly to Americans and Russians by going straight to newspapers. As they demonstrated, its an effective strategy to capture attention and state your position whether you are a global leader or a small-town worker.
Years ago, newspapers were the only reliable way to disseminate information to a wide audience. Thanks to the Internet, our society has become inundated with information from many sources. The Internet plays a critical role in the delivery of newspaper media and newspapers remain the trusted source in communities, large or small, that cut through the clutter with the news that you need to know.
Newspapers remain the reliable way to reach the American public. Our circulation revenue is up and our readership is growing, because today, more than ever, people need a news source they can trust.
