SAN LEANDRO -- Freedom's Joe Mixon ran for 210 yards and three touchdowns -- all in the first half -- in this nonleague contest at Burrell Field. But it was a 16-yard touchdown pass from Joe Sweeney to James Allen with 9:57 left in the game that ultimately lifted the visiting Falcons to victory.

Mixon broke free for a 69-yard touchdown run on the game's first official play from scrimmage. He added touchdown runs of 9 yards later in the first quarter and 76 yards in the second. The senior was shaken up on the final play of the half and did not play after halftime.

San Leandro (1-3) held its own for most of the contest. Trailing 13-0, Pirates quarterback Stephen Johnson ran 57 yards for his team's first touchdown and then returned a punt 82 yards for a 14-13 lead after one quarter.

Mixon's 76-yard run put the Falcons (1-3) back on top, 19-14. But a 37-yard swing pass from Johnson to Finau Mata'afa gave San Leandro a 21-19 lead at the half.

For Freedom, Isiah Johnson took over rushing duties for the Falcons after halftime and finished with 108 yards.

Stephen Johnson ran for 56 net yards for San Leandro. Mata'afa finished with 49 for the hosts.
