Gov. Chris Christie on Veterans Haven, Freedom House: 'We need more places like this'

Posted: March 22, 2012 at 9:46 pm

The nonprofit Freedom House substance abuse center will remain open as a partner to a new state facility for homeless veterans, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie confirmed Wednesday morning during a visit to Hunterdon County.

Freedom House will provide services to neighboring Veterans Haven North, the governor announced during a visit to Freedom Houses location on the grounds of the states Sen. Garrett W. Hagedorn Psychiatric Hospital in Lebanon Township.

Christie was in the township to reaffirm the states plan to convert Hagedorn into the northern chapter of Veterans Haven, a state program that helps homeless veterans find jobs and homes.

Veterans Haven North is scheduled to begin operating July 1, the day after Christie has said Hagedorn will close to save the state money.

We need more places like this, Christie said after a tour of Freedom House. ... Im happy to see Hagedorn Psychiatric Hospital will help people who served our country.

But the governor was non-committal about the future of Hagedorn patients and workers.

People will be placed where they need to be placed, he said of patients at the 288-bed facility. He said the states Department of Human Services will decide how many workers are retained but, We probably will not need all of those employees.

The closing of Hagedorn angered employees and patients' families, and on Wednesday a group of protesters stood on Sanatorium Road near the hospital with signs urging the governor to keep Hagedorn open as a psychiatric hospital.

"It's a better transition than where I was" previously, Pyzik told the governor.

'Totally unacceptable reality'

What price freedom (of information)?

Posted: at 9:46 pm

But at a time when public sector budgets are being slashed, it can be difficult to defend the costs of freedom of information.

Ken Thornber, leader of Hampshire County Council, said: "We spent 365,000 in 2010 answering freedom of information requests. What else could I do with that money? More social workers, more school inspectors, more spent on road maintenance."

Although the majority of requests are borne of genuine concerns, a small but significant number are vexatious or frivolous, often cited by FOI's critics as an example of wasted resources.

Thornber added: "We were asked how many drawing pins the council owns, and how many of those are presently installed in pinboards. Others have asked how much we have spent on biscuits for council meetings or on bottled water in a year.

"It's a waste of staff time to answer these questions, and every response has to be researched, written and checked by a senior officer before it goes out. We need some mechanism of deterring frivolous requests - such as a 25 charge."

A 2010 survey of local government by UCL's Constitution Unit estimated the cost of FOI at 31.6m, and that civil servants spent 1.2m hours responding to nearly 200,000 requests.

Central government received 27,294 requests during the same period. If every request costs an average of 293 and takes 7.5 hours to process - figures calculated by Frontier Economics - the total spend across central government would total 7.9m, and take an estimated 200,000 hours.

It is this money - and time - that could be put to better use, claim many in the public sector, especially when frontline services are being cut back while 270,000 jobs have been lost over the past year.

Nevertheless, it is important to keep these figures in context.

In the NHS, one recent estimate put costs at 30m, roughly equivalent to the NHS annual spend on chaplaincy.

Freedom Environmental Services, Inc. is Featured in the Global Listing Exchange's (GLX) Sector Report on the Waste …

ORLANDO, Fla., March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Freedom Environmental Services, Inc. (OTC: FRDM.OB - News) was featured today in a newly released GLX Sector Report on the business of waste treatment with focus on two notable growth segments: waste-to-energy (WTE) and waste-to-products (WTP).

An excerpt from the Sector Report that best outlines the essence of the information reads as follows:

Firms in the waste-to-energy segment take the waste that they treat and create usable energy from burning the waste (i.e., incineration) or create energy products from that waste (biofuels or other types of usable fuel). This has been a growing business as the input cost (waste) is often cheaper than ethanol or other types of energy creating inputs. Furthermore, the industry is supported by the Renewable Portfolio Standard and other government programs that incentivize the creation of renewable energy. Highlighting the growing nature of this trend, large players in this industry have entered the WTE business at an increasing pace over the past five years.

Domestic, sexual violence topic of April 29 Liberty meeting

Posted: at 9:46 pm

Posted: Thursday, March 22, 2012 1:46 pm | Updated: 1:50 pm, Thu Mar 22, 2012.

Dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence, the Houston Area Womens Center reported that it received more than 40,000 24-hour hotline calls from women and men in crisis in 2011. Nearly 1,200 women and more than 1,000 children lived in the safety of the organizations shelter.

The sexual violence hotline is 713-528-RAPE (7273), and the lifeline for domestic violence victims is 713-528-2121.

Liberty rental property owner Brenda Wooldridge believes it may be time to consider a hotline devoted to Liberty County residents in crisis. Such a hotline certainly would not replace the others, but it would be a place to reach helpers who know the lay of the land. It's something we need to talk about, she said.

A localized hotline is an idea that Wooldridge would like to discuss as she hears experts speak on domestic and sexual violence during the monthly Community Awareness Meeting that First United Methodist Church in Liberty will host at 6 p.m., Sunday, April 29. The church is located at 539 Main St. Wooldridge makes the meeting arrangements there.

A fundamental premise of this discussion is that no community is immune from such violence.

It is a serious problem everywhere, Wooldridge said. Living in Liberty, from what I can see here, there is still a lot of that 1950s mentality, me Tarzan, you Jane. We just need a phone number that somebody can call and talk to someone locally, someone who lives here, who understands some of the problems that people are addressing here.

It is just like the difference between having a hotline in Houston and having the national hotline.

For instance, there is a protocol for getting people in crisis to the shelter. When someone needs to be picked up someplace other than home, localized crisis intervention may provide the safest options.

You need to get to a public location, and then we can send a taxi to pick you up and take you to the shelter, because there is also the safety of the people in that intermediate stage, Wooldridge explained in regard to when she volunteered in Houston. The taxi driver is at risk, and you dont want whoever it is following you to the shelter. So the person that is local knows a little bit more about where you can go to find this. They can give you directions to wherever the counseling may be. Here in Liberty, the resources are more limited than in Houston, and the victim will need help that is actually available in Liberty.

Liberty snatch vital point against Wassaman United

League Report of Wednesday, 21 March 2012

Source: GNA

Liberty Professionals denied visiting Wassaman United their fifth win of the season by coming from behind to earn a 1-1 draw in the Week 20 Glo Premier League match on Wednesday at the Sly Tetteh Stadium, Dansoman.

A blunder by former national goalie Stephen Ahorlu gifted Liberty Professionals an image saving equalizer through substitute Christopher Nkansah four minutes from time after the visitors shot into a surprise lead through Evans Nyarko.

Wassaman, who are languishing amongst the bottom rungs of the league log displayed an output that contradicted their position matching their hosts squarely in every department of the game.

Referee Nuhu Yakubu Liman gave out a below par performance that left officials and fans of the host team stunned and visibly disappointment throughout the game.

Liberty had the first chance at goal on 20 minutes when Latif Salifu laid a perfect pass to Ibrahima Kamara, but the latter shot at the feet of onrushing goalie Ahorlu.

Few minutes later, Libertys goalie Daniel Agyei was to come to his sides rescue by stretching to his elastic limit to parry wide Nyarkos curling free-kick at the edge of their penalty area.

The game remained balanced but it was Libertys Salifu who fluffed the best chance of the opening by heading wide from close range from Richard Antwis cross.

The hosts had the upper hand in the second half but failed to break the deadlock with Kwame Boahene, Francis Morton and Salifu failing to score from close range.

Referenced Stocks: CNR, HSNI, LINTA, VVTV

Liberty Interactive Corp. ( LINTA ) is diversifying its businesses globally. The company's TV and online retail segment, QVC Inc., recently entered into a definitive agreement to form a joint venture with China National Radio ( CNR ), the government controlled radio division of China.

The joint venture will be known as "CNR Home Shopping Co., Ltd." QVC will hold 49% stake and China National Radio will control the remaining 51% share. However, the financial terms of this venture is still undisclosed.

Around 35 million Chinese households watch China National Radio's own home shopping TV channel, CNR Mall TV. The joint venture will further aggressively operate a multimedia retailing business in China through CNR Mall TV and its e-commerce website. At present, QVC's programming is distributed to approximately 195 million homes worldwide.

Excluding the U.S., the company already has presence in the U.K., Germany, Japan, and Italy. Currently, the company is trying to extensively penetrate highly lucrative and large Chinese market. In future, QVC will try to enter other emerging markets, such as India and Brazil besides entering into France and Spain.

Liberty Interactive's QVC division has become the undisputed market leader in the $8 billion TV home-shopping business. Currently, QVC commands an estimated 69% market share, far ahead of its nearest rivals, HSN Inc. ( HSNI ) and ValueVision Media Inc. ( VVTV ). In the previous quarter, QVC segment generated a total revenue of $2,649 million, of which nearly one third came from its international operations. The company is expecting this figure to reach 50% by next 5 years.

Liberty Interactive's Internet operations are a primary growth engine. We expect QVC to continue leveraging its brand to rapidly grow its Internet operations. This segment currently generates approximately 87% of the company's total revenue and 96% of profit. Exposure to a large emerging market, such as China will enable QVC to achieve a high rate of growth in future.

Super Elites Playing War Games with the World By Erick San Juan (Makati City) Wednesday, March 21, 2012 10:47:58 PM

"The Chinese people would revolt against overt foreign domination, but embrace their place in the NWO if they believed they were in control" - St. John Bartholomew

This is the introduction of the article that was posted at Truther last February 13, 2012 entitled : Colonial Elite Rules China for the Illuminati. It was first posted at henrymakow.com.

Since then, several other websites and bloggers picked up the article and reposted it. Various comments from readers ranges from skepticism to amazement.

What interest me most is how this articles revelation affects the cold war (word wars) and tension in the disputed areas in the South China Sea. As one of the claimants, we have to be aware of the undercurrents thats going on in the region. Why is Uncle Sam so persistent that the disputes between China and the claimant countries should be resolved multilaterally?

It was mentioned in the said article that the fascist superpower we know today was created in the second half of the 20th century by the bogus Cold War dialectic of communism vs. capitalism.

Will there be a repeat of this scenario today?

Illuminati and NWO

In a nutshell (from various research materials), here is an excerpt from my book, Marcos Legacy Revisited: Raiders of the Lost Gold "The Illuminati is a secret society founded and established in Ingolstadt, Bavaria by ex-Jesuit Adam Weishaupt on May 1, 1776." Translated literally, the orders name means the enlightened ones, whose avowed objective is world domination. It is they who decide who will be allowed to run for the offices of President, Prime Minister, Chancellor, Governor-General and all other titles for the leaders of major countries around the world.

The stage was set in 1898 when Britain and China signed a contract stipulating that Hong Kong would be handed back to the Chinese in 1997. This meant that the fierce Communism of the mainland and laissez faire capitalism of Hong Kong were always destined to merge. The process of unification gave rise to the current China power elite.

CARLTON: Barack, Hillary and the U.N.: United to take away your guns

Posted: at 9:44 pm

March 22, 2012

Actually, thats just the tip of the iceberg. They want pretty much all of your freedoms. If, however, we let them take away our Second Amendment rights, we will have no means with which to keep them from taking away everything else from us. There is a famous quote attributed to Isoroku Yamamoto about Japan not attacking the United States mainland because there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass. Though the quote has had some doubt cast on its substantiation, think about it what it says. Who knows how many times our nation has been saved from invasion because our citizenry is so well armed? Now, take that a step further. If the current administrations rocket ride toward tyranny were to ever reach the point that either the United Nations or (May God help us!) our own government were to take up arms against the citizens of this great nation, the only weapons we would have with which to defend our families and our homes would be the arms that we had managed to keep from being confiscated. Now, lets see; Which of our fine, upstanding elected officials would want to disarm us? Hillary Clinton has been on board for years with the United Nations plans to implement a global ban on small arms. This means a system of registering, banning, and confiscating firearms owned by private citizens. Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton has warned gun owners about the Arms Trade Treaty and the fact that the U.N. is not being honest about its true goals, which are not just to control international arms trade between nations, but to actually control domestic firearms. Barack Obama, of course, is all about big government and limited freedom for the common citizenry who arent part of the ruling elite. His affinity for George Soros, the Open Society pusher, is just one symptom of his longing for the government to get its tentacles into every aspect of our lives. He loves gun control. He would prefer a world where only the government had guns. Guess what would be next if we lost our Second Amendment protection? With a czar around every corner, thanks to Barack Obama, and executive orders flowing from the White House like a swift-running river, it wouldnt take anytime at all to see the United States of America cease to exist as we know it. I believe the current administration would just as soon sell us out to the United Nations, or simply nullify any semblance of our Constitution and Bill of Rights as they would do any of the treacherous things they are doing to us right now. Have you studied Agenda 21? You really must be aware of this gigantic threat. Please go to http://www.freedomadvocates.org or http://www.thenewamerican.com and read about the horrors planned for us. Taking away our guns is just tiny facet of the plans already in the works if we dont stop them. Look at http://www.canadafreepress.com and ready about Agenda 21 and Obamas Rural Council. Start watching out for terms in news coverage such as smart growth and social equity. Read about ICLEI and the plans for for ideal-seeking behavior and sustainable de-growth. ICLEI is the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives, a conglomerate of 600 national, regional, and local government associations who have already bought into the scam of man-made global warming or climate change and are ready to sell you out for it. Along with your guns, they can take your land and everything you think you own, if they continue to get their agenda pushed through. A look at their members list shows North Little Rock has been in their clutches for a good while now. Fayetteville is also a proud member. Rumblings of ICLEI were heard surrounding the recent Maumelle Watershed Project. Folks, ICLEI and U.N. Agenda 21 are all over our country like a big, ugly duck on a helpless little junebug. They want your land. They want your freedom. They want social equity. They want your guns. Please get informed. Get involved. Stand up for your unalienable rights.

Nancy Carlton is a resident of Saline County. Her column appears each Wednesday in The Saline Courier.
